ExH got DS9 a remote control monster truck for Xmas but the wheel came off a few weeks ago, (it wasn't cheap £50). He said he would return it.
But sadly he passed away suddenly at the weekend and DS is fixated on getting his truck working. I have called Smyths they say I can return it but nearest store is 60 miles away. Which is bit difficult best of times let alone while preparing 3 DC to bury their father.
Even though they do mail order, I can't send it back apparently because I don't have an order number ! Any idea on how I can resolve this ?
It's faulty and it means a huge thing to my DS
Aw glad this has been sorted, well done Smyths Toys.
Bless you DS op and I hope this helps him a little through this awful time.

Hello Smyths Toys - never heard of you before but I have now! Hope this is all sorted soon, and I am so sorry for your family's loss, OP.
This is why I love Mumsnet. MN to the rescue!
OP, sorry to hear of your loss. I hope the toy being fixed or replaced helps bring a little smile back to your children faces at this sad time x

Hi just to update, I did receive a response but emails now appear to be bouncing back and their customer services has an answer phone saying they are closed
As I'm not on Twitter but I wondered if someone can please retweet as that was the only thing that prompted a re-action from them.
Thanks for all your help so far, i'm not giving in until they resolve this even with their crap customer services.

I've retweeted, hope it gets sorted quickly
If you have no joy with Smyth's, I live in SE London and have parents in Berkshire (Marlow), so could pick up and take back to the Charlton/Greenwich store at the weekend if helpful?
twitter is great for this, I ranted on about Arnold Clark and they gave me a free tyre to shut up!
I'm sorry for your and your DC's loss, lots of love.

If anyone sees my tweet please feel free to RT.
Like you say lurking, it's not about something for free its about compassion. Right now you need everything to go smoothly because you don't need any more stress.
I'm sorry for your and your DSs loss.

Oh god thank you everyone for your help you've made me cry.
ewaczarlie I've tried to find one I would order a replacement and sort refund out later of I could but it's not on line anymore
Thank you Bear it is totally their lack of compassion that has upset me. I am happy to send back for investigation I am not asking for anything free. I just want to sort it for my DS.
everybodysang will send him copy of email. Thank you, thank you, thank you
I've tweeted too, I think this is such a small thing for them and such a big thing for you.
Gosh, it's genuinely a family company, four of the Smyth brothers are the company directors.
Tony Smyth seems to be the big boss - tsmyth@toys.ie

I've tweeted them a link to this thread, it's awful that they're messing you around given the circumstances.
I can't remember the website that has the contact details of managing directors for UK companies.
