Religious, secular, traditional, or just plain odd or unusual?

We have let the angel retire and have a felt owl this year.

A pretty much normal star smile

CoffeeQueen187 Sun 08-Dec-13 16:59:09

I have a drunk angel grin

She starts of sitting up straight then after an hour or so is facing the floor. She normally gets left like that for the rest of the day

SnowMuchToBits Sun 08-Dec-13 16:59:39

We haven't put ours up yet, but it will be the usual geriatric fairy, which dates from the 1960s, and went on the tree every year throughout my childhood.

BuzzardBirdisnotpartofa4birdro Sun 08-Dec-13 16:59:44

A very glittery gold star

HotelTangoFoxtrotUniform Sun 08-Dec-13 16:59:45

An owl sounds awesome!

We have a star. To stop the arguments between me and DH as to whether it's an angel or a fairy. I tried to tell him that the Fairy Gabriel didn't come down from heaven but he won't be told, so it seems safer all round to have a star.

callmekitten Sun 08-Dec-13 17:00:21

A fairy.

DramaAlpaca Sun 08-Dec-13 17:00:49

It won't go up until next weekend, but when it does it'll have a star, with an angel just below it.

Alibabaandthe40nappies Sun 08-Dec-13 17:01:05

An ageing snowman.

This is his 7th year on top of the tree - we may need to retire him soon!

VikingLady Sun 08-Dec-13 17:01:06

A Bad Taste Bear! We'll get a star next year, when DD is old enough to notice

Cutteduppumpkin Sun 08-Dec-13 17:01:41

We have an orb type thing, apparently traditional (because my parents had one).

Nothing. Tree is up and baubled to within an inch of it's life but there is nothing on the top, it looks fine without.

whereisshe Sun 08-Dec-13 17:20:02

A silver star-ish thing. I'm not sure what it's supposed to be but it looks pretty!

CloserLook Sun 08-Dec-13 17:32:50

A star. It's cheap and red and glittery (well some of it is, most of the glitter has fallen off tbh) and was purchasesd a couple of years ago when we moved in to the house just before Christmas. Really want to replace it with a nice fairy or angel but DS insists it goes up every year.

kiwidreamer Sun 08-Dec-13 17:35:29

The star we got in Salzburg from gorgeous Christmas shop I spent an hour in and couldn't decide what to get so grab this star on the way out cos I had to get SOMETHING after browsing for an hour!!

wonkylegs Sun 08-Dec-13 18:04:40

A giant perforated paper star... It's about 20inches across but because we got a ridiculously large 10ft tree it looks just about right.

Golddigger Sun 08-Dec-13 18:05:34

It will be a wonky looking angel.

Retropear Sun 08-Dec-13 18:08:42

A lopsided Ikea straw star.

HouseAtreides Sun 08-Dec-13 18:11:23

We have a different topper every year who gets to wear a Santa hat. Last year it was DD1's sock monster; this year it's DD2's battered old teddy bear who used to belong to my brother. smile

Velvetbee Sun 08-Dec-13 18:18:15

A gold coloured metal sun, we've had it about 18 years. The kids hate it and every year I have to defend it (and give them a lecture about the winter solstice).

MissGuineapigsRingingBells Sun 08-Dec-13 18:29:36

Mine currently doesn't have anything, I have a pop-up tree that's waist height, and I've yet to find anything that won't make the tree fall over. I'm edging more towards a star though...and I now like the idea of an angel under itgrin

lfchome Sun 08-Dec-13 18:38:04

A Robin - passed down from dh's parents (the robin is about 60 years old now).

NoComet Sun 08-Dec-13 18:47:57

A five pointed gold fine tinsel wrapped twig pentagram.

Nice and pagan, except church have been known to have exactly the same one hanging in the doorway of the sanctuary.

Go figure.

mrspremise Sun 08-Dec-13 19:06:51

We have a fairy doll that my dear departed Nanny nade for me when I left home... She keeps an eye on the DC and reports back to F.C. grin

DisneyAddict88 Sun 08-Dec-13 19:10:26

we have always let dd1 choose who goes on the tree last year was sonic the hedghog and this year is her special pink teddy wearing dd2 1st xmas hat from last year grin

50shadesofknackered Sun 08-Dec-13 19:11:25

A beautiful Angel. She is new and replaces the previous Angel that would never stay straight and drove me mad each year. She is lovely

A polar bear bauble hanging from the very top.

SanityClause Sun 08-Dec-13 19:29:29

We have an owl.

Lauranne Sun 08-Dec-13 19:38:51

A glittery tinkerbell courtesy of the Disney store smile

DuffyMoon Sun 08-Dec-13 19:48:10

A sprout smile

WinterWinds Sun 08-Dec-13 19:49:49

We have a big velvet bow on the living room tree, and we had a sparkly snowflake on the dining room tree.
But that fell apart so now we have one of dd's dress up plastic tiara's from when she was about 3.

MyFabulousBoys Sun 08-Dec-13 19:58:55

A beautiful bird-of-paradise-sequel bird. In purples and red.

We have a PG tips monkey. That has a Xmas jumper on.
Must've been a promotional one from many moons ago smile

Bigfingers Sun 08-Dec-13 22:28:01

the christmas penguin. dh bought it in Woolies <sigh> and it went atop our first joint xmas tree in 2001. Can't bring myself to change it smile

MummyPig24 Sun 08-Dec-13 23:54:24

A sparkly, silver snowflake.

TinyDiamond Sun 08-Dec-13 23:55:13

an empty bottle of fairy

octopusinasantasack Mon 09-Dec-13 07:08:24

wonky a ten foot tree! I thought our 7 foot tree was big, but ten foot! Not at all envious of course! envy

pinkbear82 Mon 09-Dec-13 07:23:02

A family of reindeer with all our names on, and 2013 on. It's dds first Christmas, and mine and DPs 3rd but the first we have been allowed to see his dds for. I wanted everyone to be included, and felt it needed marking. I was careful for all our names to be used and not Daddy and Mummy for the adults. I think it's fab

Lizzylou Mon 09-Dec-13 07:25:37

That is lovely Pinkbear fsmile
We have a chubby naked Angel on one, which we have every year. On the other a glittery gold star.

BobCrotchstitch Mon 09-Dec-13 07:41:38

We have an angel that DS made in nursery (he is 9 now!) It has a laminated photo of his head and gold doiley wings and it makes me laugh every time I see it.
He is campaigning vigorously to put a star on top as apparently the DSAngel is "lame" but I am standing firm for this year at least fgrin

curiousgeorgie Mon 09-Dec-13 11:19:57

I have a star in the living room, a gingerbread man on the kitchen tree and Woody on the tree in the playroom grin

We have this 'the snowman' character smile
I love the snowman and its part of christmas every year for me…then a few years ago I found him lying on the floor of the warehouse section of the company I worked for all dusty sad I kept him on my desk for a while then took him with me when I left….Can't remember what we had before that, probably a star as I'm not keen on angels etc

D0oinMeCleanin Mon 09-Dec-13 11:43:02

Ours is going up tonight, the children have theirs up. They both have/will have extremely glittery, homemade cardboard angels. This year they're wearing tinsel dresses, apparently I bought them too much tinsel for their room, so they cut the extra bits up into tiny pieces to spread around their room stick on their angels.

CreamyCooler Mon 09-Dec-13 12:53:28

Two silver bells ties together with a silver ribbon. It's a few years old from pound land.

spottymoo Mon 09-Dec-13 14:17:47

Nothing as the tree goes to ceiling

Its0kToBeMe Mon 09-Dec-13 14:23:26

we have a small american flag.

We have a white wooden snowflake on the living room tree and a lovely felt angel on the on in the hall.

mummylin Mon 09-Dec-13 15:18:04
