I thought it might be easier for all including Reastie if we had a separate bargain thread for food and drink.

Reastie hoping I'm not stepping on your toes here smile

Assuming the offers will move quickly mind.

I'm planning an online shop at tesco later so will let you know what bargains are there at the moment.

MooseyMoo Thu 17-Oct-13 19:09:24

Good idea!

I know Waitrose have Smirnoff Vodka Red 1L for £17.50 (saving of £3.80)

iloveholidays Thu 17-Oct-13 19:52:13

Just typed out a message and then clicked the wrong button sad

On Tesco

Baileys down to £12
Wine and champagne offers here

Grolsch 2 12 packs for £15, usually £12 each

CatAmongThePigeons Thu 17-Oct-13 20:12:26

flowers Lidls own brand Baileys is £6.99 for 70cl

Worth going via Click snap on Quidco before you shop online or in store supermarkets as you can get cash back on certain items. It's paid very quickly too.

PoppyScarer Thu 17-Oct-13 20:16:45

San Leo Prosecco has been half-price at £5.24 on Ocado for the past week or so. It's often discounted, but hasn't been down that low for ages.

Brilliant stuff, bottle looks good, great to take to parties and for Buck's Fizz.

PoppyScarer Thu 17-Oct-13 20:17:26

P.S. fab thread thanks

PoppyScarer Thu 17-Oct-13 20:20:19

I already posted about this on Reastie's thread, but M&S have lovely tins of biscuits shaped as Christmas Trees and snow globes (with actual fake snow) in their 3-for-2 at the moment. I reckon they are perfect as a standby present, a teacher present, a neighbour, etc. And failing all else you can scoff the biscuits and keep the lovely tin!

hippoherostandinghere Thu 17-Oct-13 20:28:04

Matchmakers are £1 in asda.

iloveholidays Thu 17-Oct-13 20:29:28

(Aunt Bessie Yorkshire puddings down to £1 from £1.75) for any other crazy people having Yorkshires with their Christmas lunch grin

Confusedbyyou Thu 17-Oct-13 20:44:14

We will be having yorkies - but they will be homemade grin

I want the snowglobe biscuit tin!

Lidl have a tin of shortbread in next week for £3.99 I think

Oreocrumbs Thu 17-Oct-13 20:48:19

Great idea for a thread, I do love food and drink grin.

I don't have any special offers yet, but thought I would mention some of the bargainous gems from Aldi that area cheap as chips and very good.

Malt whisky £12.99 My very fussy SF really loves this - it is apparently on par with the £30 main brand bottles.

Actually all of their spirits are good, they often win awards, and they are as cheap if not cheaper than I can buy trade for 'non main brand spirits' (pub trade). The amaretto is £4.99 and that is a good 'cheap' amaretto. If you are wanting to make alcoholic cocktails or coffee's then I would buy these products rather than the premium brands.

Champagne £12.99 a bottle comes out top on taste tests.

They also have some cheap spumante called moscatto dolce that is £4.89 a bottle. Very sweet but very nice.

Continental tart £1.59 are very nice stand by desserts to have in the freezer.

They also sell a frozen chocolate and mandarin cheesecake (that I discovered just today) and that was soooo bloody lovely! I can't find a link but it's new and probably around £2 or £3.

I will be buying a few one to keep in for emergency desserts. Or just to eat when DP has gone to work.

Confusedbyyou Thu 17-Oct-13 21:01:15

Lidl have a chocolate pannetone this year which I may have already bought in anticipation of toasting Christmas morning grin

RhondaJean Thu 17-Oct-13 21:05:16

I've already mentioned it on the other thread too (I'm assuming it's safe to surface on this one!) but if you are looking for kids gifts from thorntons try Asda first as they are about a third cheaper in there than in the thorntons shop. An example is the snowman and snowdog selection box which is £3.99 in thorntons and £2.49 in Asda.

BeckyBrandon Thu 17-Oct-13 21:26:36

Tescos have a massive 3 for 2 selection on their baking stuff, inc mince meat and the like.

iloveholidays Thu 17-Oct-13 21:39:47

I'm definitely looking for large tubs of chocolates. They are £5 in my local tesco garage, am I likely to get any cheaper?

We need to re stock on beer, lager, wine etc. hoping there are 3 crates for £20 type offers again...?

iloveholidays Thu 17-Oct-13 21:41:42

Also want couple of cereal variety packs if anyone sees them on offer

Oh and nice biscuits

Oreocrumbs Thu 17-Oct-13 21:43:36

The tins od quality street etc are 2 for £9 in co op. They were 2 for £7 last week in morrisons (finished now).

Last year all of the main supermarkets has them at £4 a tin at some point.

So I would be looking to spend £4 a tin this year.

I'm not buying any yet. It will only cost me a fortune as I eat and replace them weekly wink.

raisah Thu 17-Oct-13 22:20:40

For those if you doing hampers, Tesco have relaunched a new finest section in time for Christmas. The selection includes hamper staples such as jams on a 3 for 2 offer

AllThatGlistens Thu 17-Oct-13 22:45:18

Excellent idea for a thread! flowers

I've just started stocking up on the 30p bars of chocolate from Aldi, perfect for melting down for cakes/truffles etc when Christmas baking.

Confusedbyyou Thu 17-Oct-13 22:50:03

Great idea [allthatglistens]

Think hints and tips on what people are doing/making would be great on this thread

Sainsburys are doing a german brand stollen, that is about 1/3 price of sainsbury's own stollen- looked very tasty for a bargain price... but can't remember name!

RhondaJean Fri 18-Oct-13 09:21:17

Just been in asda loads of spirits at £11. Didn't have time to check all but def drambuie, Gordon's, Morgan's, Bacardi etc.

mumtoone1 Fri 18-Oct-13 10:30:42

Poundland have a decent size box of Milk Tray chocolates for... £1.

About half the size of a normal box, about 10 chocolates. Very good value.

OneUp Fri 18-Oct-13 11:22:41

Waitrose have a bag of little marshmellows for 95p at the moment. Good for anyone doing snowman soup and a reasonable size for the price.

Confusedbyyou Fri 18-Oct-13 11:42:43

Thanks OneUp - I need them for snowman soup

TheYamiOfYawn Fri 18-Oct-13 11:56:33

Aldi have a magazine in-store at the moment with a voucher for money off a festive item each week between now and the new year. This week is 30% off a shortbread selection tin. The following weeks are for 20% off mince pies, 30% of a Christmas pudding, 50% off crackers, 50 off Moser Roth chocolate Santas (Lindt quality for a fraction of the price), 30% of jars of cranberry sauce with port, 20% off a four bird roast, 30%off Yule logs, 30%off frozen roasting potatoes in goose fat ( I don't recommend them), 20% off beef Wellington, 30% off camembert and 50% off hand cooked crisps. They have also released the details of the specials between now and the start of January.

MooseyMoo Fri 18-Oct-13 12:43:40

Morrisons also have Terry's choc orange for £1

Just had email from Waitrose to say their Christmas food order catalogue is out now, and you can view online now too

Great thread. I'll be getting the marshmallows and good idea to stock up on cheaper chocolate for eating now melting later. grin

I was in quality save yesterday and they had thorntons advent calendars for £2.50.

Coveredinweetabix Fri 18-Oct-13 16:32:47

For sprout haters, a good stocking filler might be the little bag of chocolate sprouts that M&S are doing. Or for anyone as an alternative to chocolate coins.

This year, Cadburys have brought out a "big purple one" and a "big green one" which is a box in the shape of the purple caramel hazelnut Quality St or the green triangle one filled with mini versions of the same. I think it was only about £4 in ASDA but was £7 in Sainsburys.

shelley72 Fri 18-Oct-13 16:48:46

Thorntons have 5 boxes of chocolates for £20 - includes classic and premium box, mint selection as well as advent calendars and father Christmas / reindeer / snowman and snowdog figures. Quite a good buy if you like chocolate.

Also lots of half price biscuits in m&s - boxes of butter shortbread for 2·50 and Belgian chocolate biscuits on offer too.

AllThatGlistens Fri 18-Oct-13 17:43:21

Loving this thread.

Is it just me (saddo) that has their Christmas food trolley filled at Ocado waiting for the end of the month to book my slot? grin sooo glad they now deliver to my area.

Would never, ever use Asda again, half of my order was missing and the substitutions were bizarre!

Reastie Fri 18-Oct-13 18:04:29

<belatedly marks place>

If anyone sees any good offers on tassimo discs please let me know yes I am still looking thanks

When do the ocado christmas slots come up? I need to sign up for delivery pass but don't want to do it until christmas delivery slots come up.

Iamsanta Fri 18-Oct-13 18:31:41

Thanks rhonda. Didn't even know that asda sold Thorntons. That's saves me a 20 mile trip.

Iamsanta Fri 18-Oct-13 18:42:39

Anyone seen the DIY gingerbread houses???I think either aldis or lidl's sold them last year.

TyrannosaurusBex Fri 18-Oct-13 18:49:04

Got the marshmallows! Waitrose has boxes of peppermint candy canes for 95p - probably less on the mainland.

RhondaJean Fri 18-Oct-13 19:03:30

Best be fast I am, I was in this morning and there's no thorntons selection boxes left in mines.

I'm wondering if I hallucinated the spirits too, especially the Drambuiewww as I can't see it online, may need to go investigate!

Iamsanta Fri 18-Oct-13 19:07:01

Thanks, I will try and pop in tomorrow.

Lovely thread idea too.

VoldemortsNipple Fri 18-Oct-13 19:15:02

Hi all, just been to Tesco and Pringles are on bogof at £2.49. If you can avoid popping them open before Christmas.

My top tip is always check the whoops to see what they have. We often have Indian things from the deli which are fine frozen. Plus things like bacon and sausages which always come in handy and will help to cut down on the final food food shop.

everydayaschoolday Fri 18-Oct-13 20:01:53

Our Aldi has some Christmas stock in, that is Best-before dated beyond New Years for any early buyers:

Frozen Turkey crown 2.17Kg £9.99
Chocolate coins (white and milk) 50p
1lt Gluhwein (authentic German Mulled wine) £4.99
Stollen bites £1.99
Christmas Pudding. Various sizes. Luxury medium size: £3.79

everydayaschoolday Fri 18-Oct-13 20:05:33

just checked the 'bargain-ess' of that frozen turkey crown. Tesco own brand, equivalent size (2kg-2.3kg), frozen turkey crown is £17. Hurrah!

RhondaJean Fri 18-Oct-13 20:23:58

Re turkey

It's a little more expensive but a darn site cheaper than markies - can I recommend this farm shop close to me over tesco/lidl/aldi whatever.

Their produce is excellent. They ship in insulated packages and Offer free deliv over £35 so if you got together with a few others you could get that. It will last beautifully in the freezer and they do next day delivery - but they are a small supplier in the grand scale of things so don't leave it too late.

iloveholidays Fri 18-Oct-13 20:52:32

I've just seen this on Ikea...

I need chocolate and marzipan - lots of it!!! grin

INeedThatForkOff Fri 18-Oct-13 21:15:42

Before we start raving about them, as last year, please can I just say that I thought the Lidl Stollen was ab-so-LUTE-ly vile? DH and I both though it tasted chemical, which was a shame as I'd bough four altogether, three of which had to go in the bin as they were intended as gifts. Yeugh!

PoppyScarer Fri 18-Oct-13 21:20:11

Lindt chocolate website link copied from the main bargains thread. Free delivery over £40 if anyone needs a lot of Lindt choccies (everyone needs that much chocolate, right?!).

Notably they have the large red Lindor bauble for £11.99, cheaper than I have seen it this year so far - was on offer a lot last year though.

theboutiquemummy Fri 18-Oct-13 21:20:43

Asda will be doing the buy 1 get 2 free on selection boxes towards the end of November apparently

Confusedbyyou Fri 18-Oct-13 21:32:16

everydayaschoolday Fri 18-Oct-13 22:05:49

I love both the Aldi and Lidl stollen too. Thought it was just me.... grin

shelley72 Sat 19-Oct-13 07:22:26

We didn't like the big lidl stollen either, but the mini ones were lovely smile

98percentchocolate Sat 19-Oct-13 09:20:19

Been hunting and currently Asda is the cheapest for chocolate with Sainsburys second and Tesco trailing third by quite a way... (Those are the only supermarkets near me besides Waitrose and we all know they'll be last in the list!)

blibblibs Sat 19-Oct-13 09:36:06

For the person that aked about the variety packs of cereal co-op have the kellogs one at half price just now so £1.19.

iloveholidays Sat 19-Oct-13 10:25:33

thanks for the heads up on the variety packs.

We're getting our kitchen done in November so shouldn't really be stocking up but I'm sure I'll find somewhere!!! grin

RhondaJean Sat 19-Oct-13 11:16:21

Not quit food and drink but I am looking for two Christmas cereal bowls if anyone spots any. Cheaper the better!

mateysmum Sat 19-Oct-13 11:18:41

Marks have got boxes of posh biscuits at half price and mix and match 3 for 2 on cards, crackers and wrap.

iloveholidays Sat 19-Oct-13 11:34:36

Rhonda there are Christmas bowls in matalan for £1.50 and on 3 for 2. They are plastic though. If you do click and collect I think the 20%code works too.

RhondaJean Sat 19-Oct-13 12:01:03

Thanks. I'll go have a look. I don't know whether to go ŵith plastic or china, my girls are 9 and 14 but still break ridiculous amount of things!

ValiumQueen Sat 19-Oct-13 12:55:06

Poundland usually do Christmas bowls etc. melamine and about three in a pack. I got some about 5 years ago and they still look fab. There were bigger serving dishes, coasters, beakers, plates etc. I have them all :-)

Lunaballoon Sat 19-Oct-13 13:53:45

Another fan of the Lidl's stollen. I usually buy 2 or 3. Haven't been disappointed so far.

AllThatGlistens Sat 19-Oct-13 13:57:44

Aldi have got cute little nets of mini chocolate santas and snowmen for 50p a bag, lovely little stocking fillers.

iloveholidays Sun 20-Oct-13 12:00:43

popping over to asda later to have a look at a stocking garland I'm hoping to use for advent.

Anything worth looking at? will report back any findings

FarOverTheRainbow Sun 20-Oct-13 12:28:57

I need to get some food/baking type presents but not biscuits or chocolate anyone have any ideas?

MooseyMoo Sun 20-Oct-13 14:37:00

From MSE: Baileys 1L will be £9 from tomorrow (Mon 21) at Morrisons. OP was unsure if all flavours are included.

LalyRawr Sun 20-Oct-13 17:04:33

Oh, thanks Moosey was going to buy the £12 Baileys at Tesco, but £9 is better!

Do you think it will be any cheaper closer to Christmas or am I just being greedy?

Reastie re ocado. Not good news but a possible way round

Delivery pass t&c's state that Xmas delivery pass slots only go priority to those who have bought a delivery pass on or before 1/10. It's not v clear.I know someone who always gets their slot first, something on their postcode. They get their booking first week of October. Mine come out tomorrow.

If you are definitely going for it, phone them up to buy over the phone if poss or at least confirm this first with them. Say you only want the pass if you can get priority on Xmas slot rathe than wait till 30/11 which is what they will default you to.. ie no advantage.

They can, albeit maybe a supervisor needs to approve, book you in a slot on 23/12. You prob won't get an Xmas eve but more may open up.

Good luck. Be firm, they can do it. If you've had a delivery pass before tell them that, and be sure to tell them you are the Xmas shopping goddess of mumsnet. smile

Icepickinyourheadofthepops Tue 22-Oct-13 05:49:27

And Reastie, once they have booked you in the slot you need to put some holder items in to £90 as you have to check out within an hour or lose the slot they've pencilled in for you.

MooseyMoo Tue 22-Oct-13 06:37:23

Meant to update yesterday, the Baileys for £9 at Morrisons promotion starts on Thursday nationwide.

I also found a website yesterday called Before I a Shop, that has the offers for Asda, Morrisons, Sainsyrys, Tesco and Waitrose

southeastdweller Tue 22-Oct-13 06:51:00

Great thread. Can't think of anything at the moment but will update regularly over the weeks. I was thinking last night though it'll soon be the time when Bailey's gets hugely reduced (the supermarkets 'take turns' with it as I recall) so thanks to Moosey for the Morrisons heads-up.

Reastie Tue 22-Oct-13 07:15:32

Thanks Icepick . I did ocado delivery pass last week confused . Haven't heard anything about being able to book christmas slot yet, might go and have a nose on their site now confused

Icepickinyourheadofthepops Tue 22-Oct-13 08:03:56

Reastie I have shopped with them for ten years. Thought we'd try someone else. Didn't renew pass in sept. Have realised is easier to have delivery and find waitrose not so intuitive. Anyway, didn't realise cut off had passed for Xmas slots. Signed up online again last week and phoned to check when I'd get slot. Was told as above. Challenged and was able to book in yday. Good luck smile

CrotchStitch Tue 22-Oct-13 09:08:44

I already have my Waitrose slot booked <smug>
In fairness my trolley may be a little of the "chuck anything in to reach £50" variety at the moment but I am thrilled with the new found domestic goddess in me that will have all her shopping delivered effortlessly to the door rather than dashing around grappling prawn rings off little old ladies on Christmas Eve grin

southeastdweller Tue 22-Oct-13 20:57:11

M&S mulled wine is currently £2 off.

JaquelineHyde Wed 23-Oct-13 17:17:59

Oooh yay I've found you.

Nothing to add at the moment, but thanks for the Baileys heads up. I shall be off to Morrisons tomorrow for a bottle or two! smile

Theimpossiblegirl Wed 23-Oct-13 18:26:12

Is it worth getting to Morrison's early or is there a set time they can sell alcohol from?

iloveholidays Wed 23-Oct-13 18:30:26

what's happening at Morrisons?

iloveholidays Wed 23-Oct-13 18:38:00

Yama Wed 23-Oct-13 18:39:43

Sainburys are doing Chivas Regal malt whiskey for £18 instead of £27.

Dh likes it so it's good stuff.

Badvoc Wed 23-Oct-13 19:02:14

Is the aldi own brand baileys any good?

Wiifitmama Wed 23-Oct-13 19:24:41

I think the Aldi baileys tastes just like the branded one. Very nice and much cheaper.

Badvoc Wed 23-Oct-13 19:32:49

Will get some for Dhs hamper then!

LalyRawr Wed 23-Oct-13 19:35:26

I'm annoyed that I don't have an Aldi or Lidl near me angry

Superdrug have some good deals on sweets at the moment. The little boxes of Lindt are £1, Thortons Reindeer £4 (saw it for £8 in Waitrose), 2 for £1 on bags of chocolate coins, box of Thortons chocs for £5 etc.

Theimpossiblegirl Wed 23-Oct-13 19:36:07

Baileys 1 litre for £9 in Morrison's tomorrow. Not sure if it includes flavours.

kiwidreamer Thu 24-Oct-13 12:37:15

I was in Tesco this morning and they have 2 for £4 on Elizabeth Shaw chocolates, not such a bargain for the sticks but the wafers are usually £4 for a single box, they come in Mint and an Armaretto flavours, I got two mint boxes... one for us and one for a friends hamper.

southeastdweller Thu 24-Oct-13 20:02:55

So who got their Bailey's today? There weren't many left tonight at my nearest one (Streatham) but I was happy to get one bottle. May get another one in Brighton tomorrow if there's any left.

LalyRawr Thu 24-Oct-13 21:03:12

Argh don't tell me that! I can't get there till Monday!

KFFOREVER Thu 24-Oct-13 21:17:52

I have a £60 Naked Wine voucher to use- has anyone used one? It looks like a good idea but is it really a con? Any advice on using it to get the best deal?

RhondaJean Fri 25-Oct-13 23:22:07

DH went to get my baileys and there was none.

He said they were VERY sold out sad

MooseyMoo Sat 26-Oct-13 10:26:20

Just been for weekly food shop and Waitrose have offer. Shop 4 times (at least £50 spend) and get £25 voucher (need to be my Waitrose cardholder)

Bought FiL the Badger Sett Beer collection 5.99 (20% off)

izzybizzybuzzybees Sat 26-Oct-13 12:56:43

impossible I used a £40 naked voucher recently and it hasn't been a con. They do suggest you sign up to be an angel but I haven't and all is well. No tie in or anything and I got 6 bottles of wine for £9.99 all in.

dementedma Sun 27-Oct-13 09:05:59

Ordered a case of wine from Virgin in their pre-christmas sale and saved a bargainacious £69 quid. Check them out online. Have to say the staff are brilliant too and always fine when I have to cancel an order during the skint months.

lookout Sun 27-Oct-13 09:51:40

Had anyone tried a lidl three bird roast? Am wondering what the budget ones are like, needs to be good enough for foodie parents but not break the bank.

RhondaJean Sun 27-Oct-13 10:02:48

How are you all managing to get this super cheap wine?

Any time I look at naked or virgin with a vpucher they tell me I need to buy a case at £100 to use the voucher (making it just as cheap and safer all round to just wait till my favourites are reduced to a fiver in the supermarket.)

Crutchlow35 Sun 27-Oct-13 10:17:40

I am sure the reviews of the 3 bird roast last year were not good.

RhondaJean Sun 27-Oct-13 10:24:31

There's a 3 bird and a 4 bird and one is from aldi and one from lidl and if I remember the reviews on here last year were one is lovely and one is rank.

Rather Unhelpfully, I cannot remember which was which confused but I do remember the (4x the price) markies one got good reviews!

cheesecheeseplease Sun 27-Oct-13 11:50:35

we're having an aldi 4 bird roast for dinner today I think it's nice. haven't tried the lidl one tho so can't comment on that. aldi one is huge easily feeds 4 plus leftovers smile

lookout Sun 27-Oct-13 11:52:38

There will be 6 of us. Don't have an aldi near me but do have a lidl. The marks one looks nice but at forty quid a bit more than I was hoping to spend. Hoping my new thread will render some more replies. Thanks allsmile

Rhonda, mine is a £60 voucher for a minimum case of 12 too. Making it £3.99 a bottle on average. The Virgin wine deal works out slightly less, but still not an amazing deal, all in all. That's why I'm umming and ahhing about it. I do like a deal but not sure the minimum spend and high cost of delivery (£7.99 Virgin) makes it worth it.

RhondaJean Sun 27-Oct-13 12:03:29

Yep I'd happily take a risk on six bottles for £9.99 though!

Iamsanta Sun 27-Oct-13 12:07:59

Aldis baileys taste exacly like Baileys and half the price!

Our local morrisons was sold out of baileys within the first hour of opening.

izzybizzybuzzybees Sun 27-Oct-13 22:02:01

The voucher I had didn't have a minimum spend I don't think. The case was £59.99 but reduced in an offer to £44.99 and then with voucher made it super cheap!

WRT to the 3 bird roast we found it just fell apart when carved so looked pretty rank. Ours was aldi.

FrantasticO Thu 31-Oct-13 07:44:20

I used a £5 off voucher for both Iceland and aldi to stock up on freezer chicken, lamb chops , house stuff for next wee while means I will have more food shop money on run up to Xmas. Voucher was in daily mail blush but worth it (thanks for that mum!)

We had the aldi 3 bird roast 3 or 4 years ago, didn't like it.
Probably better now
Did buy the large prawn ring from lidl, it was nice!

Jack Daniels £15 in tesco for anyone who likes it

Thought on frozen turkey crowns please? grin

Waitrose box of chocolates to share on 2 for 1 offer

notthefirstagainstthewall Sat 02-Nov-13 08:09:31

Aldi 3 bird roast was all cheap and nasty stuffing. No taste of birds in any form. Shame. Seems such a good idea.

ShoopShoop Sat 02-Nov-13 23:00:01

Did anyone else get an email from Tesco? Something along the lines of dom2 or 3 online shops in November and then get some money off a shop in December? I'm sure I had one and now cannot find it anywhere in my inbox.

Can anyone help me with the codes please?

FrantasticO Sun 03-Nov-13 09:19:14

Bumping for you shoop
I didn't as no local tesco here so can't help but hopefully someone else will
Stuck in with viral so no bargains for me.
I'm sure this thread will start to fill up over the next couple of weeks when we all get going for the groaning christmas cupboards! grin

bluesky Mon 04-Nov-13 11:48:33

FrantasticO Mon 04-Nov-13 20:14:40

FrantasticO Mon 04-Nov-13 20:15:45

Sorry that was meant for bluesky

bluesky Mon 04-Nov-13 22:05:59

Hi, just an update that the lidl voucher has gone. Sorry frantastico.

joymaker Tue 05-Nov-13 02:41:41

Can you give me a shout if you see any good deals on Green and Blacks or Lindt chocolate in store or online. Ta!

AmIGoingMad Tue 05-Nov-13 03:20:22

Shoop shoop- was it definitely Tesco? I think morrisons are doing similar?

FrantasticO Tue 05-Nov-13 07:09:48

No probs bluesky!
I'd have prob spent way too much on nibble bits that would mysteriously vanish before December

Maybe we should start a thread on the mystery of vanishing foodstuff bought for Xmas!!

everydayaschoolday Wed 06-Nov-13 01:41:40

yami the frozen venison in Aldi is utterly delish.

raisah Wed 06-Nov-13 08:25:16

Half price champagne & cava at Waitrose while stocks last.

parrotsandcarsnips Thu 07-Nov-13 10:30:48

just posted this on bigger thread but m&s have chocolate truffles half price down to £3 great size for hamper or perhaps teacher gift

Pogosticks Thu 07-Nov-13 23:29:05

I was thinking of getting a hamper this year as will be at home a lot. And will be a present to myself.

However am wondering if I am kidding myself and it will be expensive and not useful and should I stop being lazy and wasteful and make a list and buy things (like I do week in, sodding week out)....
Any thoughts ?

raisah Fri 08-Nov-13 03:35:56

Pogosticks I would buy my own stuff for the hamper tbh. I find that you get a lot more for your money & have exactly what you want to eat if you buy it yourself. Push the boat out & buy a selection of treats from Waitrose, M&S and Fortnums etc.

raisah Fri 08-Nov-13 03:49:47

Coffee bags for those who like proper coffee without the faff of a cafetiere:

janx Fri 08-Nov-13 07:33:53

Anyone seen good deal on vodka?

I'm after, as I'm sure we all are, the big tins of chocolates - roses, heroes etc. Anyone know of anywhere please? Must be before 25th nov as its for a fundraiser, thanks :-)

Theimpossiblegirl Fri 08-Nov-13 08:58:33

Morrisons are advertising cheap spirits but after the whole Baileys thing it might not be worth a special journey. Bitter, moi?

There's buy 2 get 2 free on selected Cadbury selection boxes in Tesco ATM. Think it's on till Tuesday midnight smile

shelley72 Fri 08-Nov-13 09:25:21

lindt chocolate currently on offer in waitrose. Bars and also the lindor chocolates which I must stop buying

TheSlug Fri 08-Nov-13 10:19:32

the Nice Christmas tree tin of biscuits is half price in store at M&S at the moment, down to £5, and it's so sweet (it spins and plays christmas songs)

ihatethecold Fri 08-Nov-13 10:59:51

Great thread.
Have posted on the Xmas Aldi thread also but the panatonne are really nice and costs £3.99

They look good enough to give as presents, if you don't eat them first. As I have!

TheYamiOfYawn Fri 08-Nov-13 16:10:08

The Aldi Christmas food catalogue is put and it looks fabulous (apart from the dull frozen party food).

MooseyMoo Fri 08-Nov-13 16:15:42

joymaker waitrose have Green & Black 12 miniature bar collection for £2.99 ( third off). Dark, milk & white and another version

TheYamiOfYawn Fri 08-Nov-13 16:31:29

Where is the Aldi Christmas thread?

ihatethecold Fri 08-Nov-13 17:49:49

It's in chat.

joymaker Fri 08-Nov-13 20:26:18

Moosey thanks, I would have been very happy with that price (I need to get a few), but I live across the water (N Ireland) and although we have most high street shops we don't yet <hopeful emoticon> have a Waitrose (or Aldi or Morrisons...) sad

Sparklyblue Fri 08-Nov-13 22:31:03

Hi, litre bottles of Baileys £10, Tins of Roses, Celebrations, Heroes and Quality Street £4 each. Terry's Chocolate Orange, various flavours, £1 each.
