I shall keep mone up late on Christmas Eve to aim for a post 8am wake-up.
A normal wake up time is about 7.30am for dd2, the older ones would sleep all day if allowed.
Tbh its usually me and dp waking them up about 6am
I expect 6.30ish as they're excited. ( 6 and 9 ).
TBH I prefer to be up, showered and breakfasted with stockings done and dusted by 9.30am so I can get on with prepping all the food for lunch etc.
when they were little about 7.30/8.00am - last two years (now 12 and 11) pre 6am!!! - they actually woke up and did their own stockings at 5.15 last year - i'd heard them up at 5am and told them to go back to sleep, hear them again at neary 6 and felt sorry for them so said you can do your stocking only to be told they'd already done them so felt we had no choice other than to get up!
Thinking of letting them open their main present before they go to bed to take the edge of things and hope they lie longer
I have no idea, as we will be out until about 8.30 which is way past bedtime (DCs are 5 and 3). Eldest is really really excited this year so she may be up early anyway.
I am on medication that has quite a heavy sedative effect so I really hope it's not terribly early!
Probably about 7 I should think. Would like it to be a bit later tbh
My kids get up at 5.45 on a normal day
<sob>
I have always, without exception woken up before the kids on Christmas Day and woken them up excitedly, normally at about 7am.
I am a big kid at heart!
DS (10 yrs) was up at 5am last year. I'd only got to bed at 3am...it was a long day
.
I'm definitely going to bed earlier this year.
DS has always been an early riser but just lately he's been sleeping until 7.30/7.45 on school days. Although weekends are still a 6/7am start
My kids are up at 6:30am normally (and are up a few times in the night) so I don't even want to think about how early it might be when things are exciting!
5am, same as the other 364 days of the year.
Like Emandlu, DH and I usually end up waking the kids at around 7am. They are very good sleepers but I can't wait to see their excited faces!
Hopefully not until 8am at least.
DS loves his bed and has decided that sleeping late gives Santa even more time to fill the stocking properly so he has announced that he will sleep late.
When I was a child we were told 6 am was the earliest we could wake. We have the same rule, however despite being mega excited mine never wake and I'm waking them at 8 a.m.
I have a 1 yo who has never slept more than 4 hours in a row, so 1am, 5am and the 4yo will be up at 6.30 am anyway.
I've never slept on Xmas eve ever, so I'm hoping to tonight will be different
I don't expect mine up before 9am tbh. They have never got up early Christmas Day and now the youngest is 9 it seems to get later every year. I'll be awake from 5am no doubt as that's my usual wake up time though.
Well I forgot to turn my alarm off
I was awake at 6.30 today. Must cancel tomorrow's alarm too!
DCs not up yet. They went to bed late, especially 3yo who had a rare nap and then played up til half ten!
I'm hoping for a 7
Probably get a 5
Early risers without it being Christmas. So predicting an early one!
I suspect about 6.20 as that's his usual time & although I've urged him to stay in bed to make sure Santa has time to fill his stocking he is sharing a room with his cousins so extremely excitable 4yo, 5yo & 7yo..... Arghhhhhhhhhh
I'm almost envying DHs night shift tonight. DS is bouncing off the walls already & we haven't got to Granny, grandad & cousins yet.
Mine will have their stockings hung on their bedroom doors in hope these will keep them quiet until at least 7am. I will be keeping them up if i can, at the moment dd2 is asleep as she's poorly but hoping when she wakes up she will be ok and will sleep ok tonight.
Definitely not before 9.
I have to wake them up !!
First year the DTs really get it so I am v excited and will probably wake them up!
about 7am. DH is on nights tonight and we are going to have a nice morning together before going to MILs. Morning will run:
7am get up and start getting brekkie ready, possibly with toddler assistant if she wakes up too
7.45am stocking, cup of tea and run DH a bath before my parents come over for breakfast
10:30 church then straight to MILs
Fuzzpig where are you?? Is it Christmas Day already??
I suspect my DS aged 4, will be up around 5:30, he's been up the last couple of nights checking at this time that Santa had been
So i'm thinking the same tomorrow!
Gah.
22 minutes early.
Boohiss.
I would like to have said 7ish except DS thought that 4.10am was a perfectly acceptable time
and despite us telling him it was not time to get up he laid in bed whinging and whining for the next two hours!
Sorry for confusion Nat, am in England - my post was just referring to 'today' as in Xmas eve, and the fact I needed to turn my alarm off to avoid waking up so early on Xmas day!
In the end we didn't wake up until 7.30.
We looked it up... online it said that sunrise was 8:04 or something. The girls were then told "If it isn't light, it is too early to come through".
Normally, DD1 will sleep til gone 10 on a holiday and DD2 usually gets up at about half 8 on a weekend. (She slips down to bag the remote control to herself while everyone else is asleep!)
They had wanted to get up at about 5 as they were excited. Apparently they did wake earlier than that, but they kept themselves busy quietly in their room before it was time. Then they brought their stockings through to open in our room.
They came through at half 8. Not bad really.
My favourite morning was when DD1 was little. At about 6 there was a shout of "He's been" then "I'm going back to sleep for a bit" and she rolled over and had another hour or so of sleep before waking up to open her stocking.
I love my kids.
