All personal opinion of course but I'll start with SPORTS DIRECT words fail me.....

AitchTwoOhOneTwo Fri 21-Dec-12 21:40:38

well... for me it's marks and spencer and their IDIOTIC 'sorry, i know we said that we had this in stock but because our system was designed back when the Flintstones were around it turns out we don't' system.

so you think you've done your shopping... but two days later, you haven't.

Grannysknickers Fri 21-Dec-12 22:50:14

I am heartened to see so many more on te best thread. Many of which I agree with.....just the two of us had problems this twr then?

AitchTwoOhOneTwo Sat 22-Dec-12 00:47:00

oh no, i rail against the M&S system all year round... grin

ProtegeMoi Sat 22-Dec-12 01:30:58

New look.

Was told items I had bought and paid for were not actually in stock so was given a refund.

Which would have been fine if this wasn't a week after paying for them and if they hadn't of refunded me item price only andkept the postage cost!

Still waiting for a response from my emailas well.

cazza2878 Sat 22-Dec-12 02:14:02

A week after ordering, still showing as processing. No reply to emails. Then order status changed to cancelled and they don't bother contacting me to tell me. No communication from them whatsoever, dreadful customer service

chickensarmpit Sat 22-Dec-12 02:18:04

@protegepoi. Newlook did that to me too!
Mine would have to be Smyths toys, i ordered and paid. Told goods would arrive within days. I waited a month only to be told they were out of stock and i would receive a refund within 7 days. I was fuming.

Aspiemum2 Sat 22-Dec-12 02:22:24

Mine would be

Timetospa, must have put my order in at least 2 months ago and lots of platitudes but no items

The entertainer/the toy shop, took my money 3 times and took several phonecalls to get my money back

chickydoo Sat 22-Dec-12 02:26:28

Amazon for me
My sons main Christmas present was lost. I ordered early as had heard the item was popular. Waited 2 weeks... Nothing. I contacted them & then through them the actual seller who took a week to respond. Eventually they admitted it must have got lost somewhere & they would refund me in 28 days!!!! Cheek. They couldn't send me another one as they had sold out!
I then had to go out to shops & spend 3 hours sourcing another gift. Grrrr Amazon

Startail Sat 22-Dec-12 02:30:27

Dancemania for taking money off my card when my first choice was discontinued and my second only available way after Christmas.

They knew the supply was giving them trouble, they gave me the option to cancel, so they shouldn't have taken the money.

I assume there will be a refund on my jan bill, but it's still cheeky.

trixymalixy Sat 22-Dec-12 05:47:42

Red direct's service was a fiasco this year. They charged me for my full order despite only one part of it being in stock. No communication from them whatsoever.

popcornpaws Sat 22-Dec-12 12:54:39

Debenhams, slow slow slow and two products were smashed to bits due to poor packaging.
They hummed and hawed at the store about refunding my money too!

MoaningMingeWhimpersAgain Sat 22-Dec-12 12:58:11

Debenhams for me too.

Dispatched part of the order in dribs and drabs, a tiny note on the bottom of an email to say X item is unavailable. IT WAS IN STOCK when I ordered it, so thanks for nothing. And took ages to arrive, really poor.

Everywhere else has been great - Play, Amazon all on the ball this year.

SantasNaughtySack Sat 22-Dec-12 13:01:13

Agreeing with New Look, and also offering up Asda. Took ages, came in three different deliveries meaning I had three days of waiting at home and introduced 25% off the day after I bought them (not their fault I know, but still made me hmm)

Topshop. Dd wanted a overpriced cardigan that is sold out online and everywhere - apart from one store according to the online stock finder. A phone call confirmed the online stock finder was accurate so DH was dispatched to said store.
Out of stock

Just realised this is online shopping.
Oh well. Mine was kind of online.

bruffin Sat 22-Dec-12 13:08:54

I am disappointed with waitrose. I booked my xmas delivery ages ago, went on yesterday to make last minute adjustment only to find they have no christmas gooss at all, no mince pies no xmas pud.

SucksFakeSanta Sat 22-Dec-12 13:17:50

Oh, I second SportsDirect.

Ordered Scooby Doo clothing for DTS (aged 3); t-shirt, cardigan and hoodie each.

Delivery arrived; 2 underlayers to fit age 8-9.

How can someone fuck up so spectacularly?

Phoned customer services to arrange collection. Spent 4 minutes on hold, twice, after being cut off when I was number 1 on the queue. That was at least 3 weeks ago. Order still not collected.

(But I did reorder & receive the SD stuff.)

All other online retailers I've used have been great.

SucksFakeSanta Sat 22-Dec-12 13:18:51

40 minutes, not 4. That would've been fine! grin

Meglet Sat 22-Dec-12 13:27:11

Toys R Us, or at least their local delivery people, Hermes.

Order went smoothly, dispatched within a few days, had text to say item would be delivered last Friday. Nothing, no delivery, card, anything all day.

Next day neighbours pop round with my delivery saying it was dropped off day before. They could have kept it as I had no idea it was left with them angry. At least royal mail leave 'we missed you...' cards.

DoesntTurkeyNSproutSoupDragOn Sat 22-Dec-12 13:30:04

Right now, the company that took DDs school photograph way back at the start of November. Having failed to get the proofs out in under 3 weeks, I ordered a CD with the photo on at the end of November and still no sign of it. There goes one of the grandparents' christmas gifts.

Procrastinating Sat 22-Dec-12 15:22:39

Rubbish website and a wait of nearly three weeks for the goods to arrive. Everything was damaged as it had all beeen thrown into a bag without any packing to protect it.

H&M are spectacularly slow too.

Ermagherd Sat 22-Dec-12 15:32:13

Did an order in November, made up tracking web site appeared to have my order moving then it has been stuck in 'despatch' since 10th December. Much emailing, them ignoring my emails, and me emailing again and again, and trying to call their customer services (5p a minute to be kept waiting in a queue for 20 mins) resulted in a 'you need to hand write a form which I may (but probably won't) email to you some time in the next millennium'.

Only after I was having problems did i read about all the other customers in the exact same boat as me and they are so quick to take your money and I'm not even convinced they even have the items they advertise on their website.

Stay away. Way away.

superwhizzynewlaptop Sat 22-Dec-12 16:43:12

Very - complete disaster, avoid them. Goods never showed up despite being in stock, and they wanted loads of personal details from me every time I tried to complain, I suspect for more and more marketing crap. They also gave me an "account" despite the fact I ticked the box online saying I didn't want one, and started sending me statements for it. Took lots more complaining before they agreed to close it.

Debenhams - goods arrived damaged, they exchanged it for wrong item which I kept receiving again and again... Eventually got some vouchers from them as an apology after spending ages complaining on their 0844 number.

I would never shop with either online again.

everydayaschoolday Sat 22-Dec-12 19:29:46

Another vote for Debenhams - how complex does a returns service really need to be?? Most items couldn't be returned to store (after I had made the journey and paid for parking) as they were 'concession' items. And to mail them back follows a complex system of getting the right address and code for that specific concession or department. Hate them.

Otherland.Santa main present haven't arrived and it is now panic panic panic for a 5 yr old and not a word from them!I ordered it on 12 th.

What everyday said bout debenhams. I used them last year, never again.

MrsMangoGingerbreadhouse Sun 23-Dec-12 08:00:31

Sainsbury's online. Placed order, confirmed, despatched, then no delivery. Three weeks later I get an email saying the product is out of stock and they will be cancelling my order. I call them up to ask what's going on, apparently they lost my order at the warehouse, but didn't bother to let me know for a fortnight. Part of it was for DD's birthday, now been and gone, with frantically replaced items ordered through Amazon, which all turned up on time.

TeamBacon Sun 23-Dec-12 08:02:29

Yep, avoid IWOOT - they're utter shite

We3bunniesOfOrientAre Sun 23-Dec-12 08:15:06

WHSmiths, ordered online to collect in store, one the store didn't bother to ring me, and the other took 10 days not 5 days, so had to get alternative present due to last posting day. Haven't had chance yet to encounter their returns policy, not sure whether to collect and keep for next year.

Snog Sun 23-Dec-12 08:25:54

Thorntons and m&s

Badvocsanta Sun 23-Dec-12 08:30:28

Just dreadful.
Asda. Surly call centre staff and my cc was cloned....twice!
Have had no issues with debenhams but I know my sil has.

amck5700 Sun 23-Dec-12 09:27:23

will NEVER buy from them again- customer service is like trying to deal with a gaggle of lobotomised baboons.

You can't get through on the phone - they keep referring you to your account page which is inaccurate and then do reply to their message service (eventually) but never actually answer the question!

Merrin Sun 23-Dec-12 18:50:43

Marks and Spencer:

Ordered weeks ago, email last week to say one item out of stock (ordered a replacement from John Lewis which arrived in under 24 hours!) and am still waiting for the order. It has, apparently, been dispatched...

CaptainNancy Sun 23-Dec-12 19:00:45

Cox & Cox for me- order had something missing, phoneline says to email, email gets no response!

nancerama Sun 23-Dec-12 19:03:40

I emailed the chief executive of M&S earlier this year informing him that its 2012 and the Internet is not a new invention. I shan't order from them online again - they've messed me about too much this year.

Fab really messed up DH's Christmas present. They dispatched the right item in the wrong colour and I asked for an exchange for the colour that I actually ordered. The (same) wrong item was delivered back to me for the THIRD time yesterday.

Goober Sun 23-Dec-12 19:18:03

The Hut. Shite.

TheCrackFox Sun 23-Dec-12 19:27:33

Argos - worst yet. Never, ever again.

amck5700 Sun 23-Dec-12 19:29:09

Goober - Zavvi and the Hut are the same people - just two brands to spread the misery further sad

superwhizzynewlaptop Sun 23-Dec-12 19:56:13

I learnt last year not to shop with Argos online, the things I received were in damaged boxes that had clearly been opened and sellotaped back up (badly).

When I returned them to my nearest store and complained and asked for a refund, they told me that it was only that someone in a store had wanted to look at the items so someone had got them out of the boxes for them then taped them back up. Whatever the reason they did not look suitable to give as presents.

I insisted on a refund, they eventually agreed, and I vowed never to shop with them again.

JoanByers Sun 23-Dec-12 23:06:06, advertising 'Christmas Gifts' last week that require 5 working days to produce, and then 2 days to despatch/deliver.

I spent an hour designing a photo album online on Monday and only after doing so realised it probably wouldn't arrive in time.

Thought they might made an effort to send it out, but have they fuck?

Merrin Mon 24-Dec-12 13:33:24

M&S must have read my post, parcel just arrived! Still, they are not as good as they could and should be.

Goober Mon 24-Dec-12 19:57:33

amck5700 Figures....

asda george they sent half my order out missed the rest didnt even tell me i noticed stuff was missing so had 2 call them to complain waited another week before rest turned up

BillyBollyBrandy Mon 24-Dec-12 21:13:12

I refuse to use Debenhams - their returns procedure is atrocious.

I fell out with M&S last year when i preordered the whole of xmas on xmas eve and it had use by dates within 48 hours even though the same things on the shelves had a week use by. And they didn't give a shit when I complained.

This year Hawkins Bizarre was okay, but the actual stuff was shite. 2 things broken, one item already open. Only cheap really but still rubbish

OodKingWenceslas Mon 24-Dec-12 21:23:04

New Look- website crap and lists lots of out of stock products. Next day delivery took 3 days and I returned everything's it was v poor quality.

Asda- website lets you get to check out before telling you everything is sold out. Delivery was ok though.

Interesting the same companies keep coming up.

makemineapinot Mon 24-Dec-12 23:41:00

Amazon. My address is 'undeliverable' apparently - well, just for the main bulk order, all the other little things managed to arrive with no problem - from Amazon! I live 30 mins from a major city so not in the Scilly's, Channel or Shetland Isles!

nancerama Thu 27-Dec-12 00:07:53

H&M are pretty pants too. BIL's present was ordered on16th and has been out for delivery since 20th. Still no sign of it.

KatyEb Thu 27-Dec-12 14:12:05

Zulily, the pair of shoes for boys I ordered came in at a wrong size while my shipping waiting time reached no less than 3 weeks! Just beware..confused

RooneyMara Thu 27-Dec-12 14:13:40

OP, are M&S STILL doing that shitty stock-messing-about thing?

I've speechless, they were doing that 5 or 6 years ago.

brainonastick Thu 27-Dec-12 14:14:39

They didn't deliver one item, and won't even offer me a refund. I believe that's called thieving.

RooneyMara Thu 27-Dec-12 14:15:42

WHSmith things always seem to arrive crushed due to being put in a crappy bag, not a box.

They are quite difficult to return. (due to staff in store not having online training)

They also cancel items without warning.

TKMaxx have been fantastic. Very very good.

RooneyMara Thu 27-Dec-12 14:16:09

H&M is always chaotic with ordering and returns. NEVER again.

chocolateistheenemy Thu 27-Dec-12 14:22:58

My huge online Tesco Christmas grocery order was delivered but with a LOT of substitutions. Some were reasonable but the much-anticipated beef, port and thyme gravy (catering for 13) was substituted with... frozen yorkshire puddings!!!!!

chocolateistheenemy Thu 27-Dec-12 14:23:02

Aspiemum2 Thu 27-Dec-12 15:18:35

Brainonastick, I had similar problems with matalan the one and only time I ordered from them. Their customer service is beyond shit

milk Sun 30-Dec-12 20:39:05

I am very disappointed you now have to pay postage for Mothercare/ELC for orders until £30 sad I only wanted to buy a pair of PJs for DS and they didn't have them instore so even though I ordered them instore they still made me pay £2.95 to have them delivered to my home address angry
