Amazon Black Friday Thread - The day that we all buy kindles!

(540 Posts)

Morning all smile

I have a kindle in my basket, ready to go grin

Nice to see some Lego finally, but the sets aren't as good as last years by the looks of it sad

What will you have in your basket today?

picnicbasketcase Fri 23-Nov-12 07:09:14

Seriously considering a Kindle for DS, but don't really know if they're good for Internet and games as well as books

Loupee Fri 23-Nov-12 07:11:28

Good morning smile
I'm not sure about the Kindle, I really wand an HD one, Ho hum.
Might try for the baby wipes again, can never have enough of those!
DH has mumbled something about the pressure washer, exciting!
Oh I dunno, I think I have Black Friday lethargy.

SantasComingFace Fri 23-Nov-12 07:12:07

Nothing really that I need today. I was hoping for wine making kits again. It's all a bit groundhog day isn't it? Sick of seeing those water filters. (realise I'm contradicting myself)

bagpuss Fri 23-Nov-12 07:25:49

No Kindle HDs sad. Don't want the regular Fire at all.

Will have a proper look in a bit, but I notice that the Lego Ninjago Fire Temple was there - ds2 had that last Christmas (Free- thanks Tesco!) and it is a really big set, which only just collapsed the other day, he has played with it loads so I can't recommend it highly enough!

<eyes loupee suspiciously> I will get some baby wipes today, goddamit. Tempted by the nappies too, although we normally get baby dry.

Loupee Fri 23-Nov-12 07:36:54

whispers we can have a duel for the wipes
Will see what the nappies go for, but we normally use Huggies.
Oh it's terribly exciting today!

SlightlySuperiorPeasant Fri 23-Nov-12 07:38:17

I'm so disappointed about the Kindle sad

Today I fancy:

- the car seat cover at 1145
- the Brio at 1
- the Invicta watch at 7
- some of the DVDs at 8

Tortoise there's another orange spider watch up today grin

milk Fri 23-Nov-12 07:41:46

Finally a day with good stuff on it grin

I want:
- Jamie's 15 minute meals
- Chuggington - Complete Series 1 Box Set

whatkungfuthat Fri 23-Nov-12 07:42:35

Morning all. I don't know what to do about the kindle. There is a very slim chance that DP will buy me one for xmas but its only about .00001% as he doesn't really like to buy online and is impervious to hints. I really wanted the HD BUT this is 30 quid off. Grrrrr decisions.

Off to have a look at what is coming up

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 07:46:53

I think its slightly more exciting today.

I was thinking about the Rocket Dog boots, they should end up quite cheap with the £10 fashion voucher, or are they just rip-off Ugg boots? they'd be expensive to send back if I don't like them (I live abroad)

ClaimedByMe Fri 23-Nov-12 07:51:33

Never Mind kindles what happened to Lego advent calendars?? They were on my black Friday email at the weekend, did I miss them sobs

I'm trying to get the Men in Black boxset for a xmas gift...then I have to go to work and attempt to do the Scuttlebug, Ninjango Lego set, Emili Sande CD, Jelly beans, Kitchen tongs and the Aladin boxset (and poss Toy Story) On my phone! Argh!

Snazzyfeelingfestive Fri 23-Nov-12 07:53:30

Marking place. Have resisted buying anything since Tuesday so will see how today goes. Not after the Kindle.

happymummy2010 Fri 23-Nov-12 07:57:14

Silly question.. But if I put the Lego set in my basket will I get the BF price if I check out when the offer is on or do I need to put the set on my basket during the BF period ?

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 07:57:53

Morning Ladies!

Hoping that Bish is a good price!

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 07:58:53

I want (price dependent):
Battlestar Galactica
Indiana Jones
Berghaus rucksack
Illy coffee
Jelly Beans
Baby wipes

I can't get it all, so I'll see what I can bag. Stuff like wipes and nappies doesn't count though, I'd have to buy them anyway grin

You have to put it in during the BF period happy

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 08:01:40

Book People have a good deal on Mr Men, so I wonder if Amazon can match it.

I'm annoyed they now have the orange Le Creuset. I got cerise at the beginning of the week, but I'd have waited for orange.

One down on my list grin

whatkungfuthat Fri 23-Nov-12 08:02:43

Kindle is in the basket. I might get it and see what happens at xmas. If I get the HD for xmas I will give it to DS for his birthday. Does anyone know what happens with the lovefilm month free - does it activate as soon as you get it or can you choose when to activate it?

ClaimedByMe Sainsburys are doing the Lego advent calendars this year, useful if you have nectar points to spend.

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 08:03:34

Bish in the basket....

aimingtobeaperfectionist Fri 23-Nov-12 08:03:45

Am a bit thick but how does it work? I've never heard of it before.

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 08:04:52

I want jelly beans. Going for 600g one because its the one that's normally cheapest!
Might get mib box set for Ds1. He hasn't seen the films and keeps saying he'd like to. (Trouble is they download films so might be pointless having discs!)

I bought an xbox bundle this morning off Amazon and another one but quickly noticed and managed to cancel it! Phew!

So I must not buy anything. Must NOT buy anything.

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 08:06:08

Gah, I've just realised I'm going to be out when quite a bit of what I'd like comes up - typical!

Got Men in Black, hooray!

Now off to work to attempt to do the rest on a smartphone...argh!

TaggieCampbellBlackFriday Fri 23-Nov-12 08:07:34

I Do Not Need A Kindle. (repeat as necessary)

Work later so need to leave strict instructions gor DH.

So far i have my eye on....

Electric blankets. (i'd like but don't need)
Socks (DHs stocking)
Sad light (i need but depends on price)
Cat food thing (for kitten)
Clothes dryer (woohoo. Exciting)

And maybe possibly the laptop. Want to get one for DD2. Depends on price.

I'm even considering housework so that I don't buy anything! shock

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 08:07:45

I am going to go for the TV at 10:30 (no chance!) and possibly a microchip catflap at 3:45 (although it will mean getting one cat chipped as hers has failed)

MustafaCake Fri 23-Nov-12 08:09:05

bagpuss can I ask whether you think that lego ninjago set would be OK for a 5 year old? Or is it for much older kids?

DS is a huge lego fan, able to build the lego city stuff that says from age 5 or 6.

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 08:09:26

After debating it with DP, Bish is back on the shelf!

Marne Fri 23-Nov-12 08:09:42

Nothing i want this morning, i hope they add a few more things as i'm stuck in with poorly child and need something to keep be entertained. Might go for the Jelly beans later and maybe a lego set. Most of the tos seem to be for younger children (would like to see more nerf guns and crafty items), wish my dd's were a bit younger as would love a scuttle bug smile.

Also anoyed that there are more blue rays and 3D DVD's rather than normal DVD's sad.

whatkungfuthat Fri 23-Nov-12 08:13:58

Poor Bish was it the blinding teeth? grin

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 08:15:01

Marne I've also noticed that theres more blu-ray/3D than normal...very annoying. My Dad is the only one I know who has a blu-ray player. I don't know anyone who has 3D.....Isn't the Lee Evans later 3D?

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 08:16:10

lol whatkungfuthat grin

ClaimedByMe Fri 23-Nov-12 08:16:31

I want the legoman clock but it's on at school run time, the electric toothbrush, the bic pens in my dreams and jelly beans

I know Marne, we can only have dvds or videos. The only people I know with blue ray or 3D tv is my nan and my dad.

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 08:19:50

Pratting...why is the older generation are getting the latest tech? Your Dad and Dad...!!

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 08:22:16

My parents have just got a blue ray too (we haven't)

LalaDipsey Fri 23-Nov-12 08:29:13

Ok so help me out - do I need a kindle?! I have an iPhone so always thought one day when I win the lottery I would get an ipad so it would sync but I have just been given £100 for my birthday which conveniently would get me a kindle.... How would it change my life?!?!

grin no idea!

Can you get the kindle app on your Iphone Lala? If you want a kindle, go for it grin

whatkungfuthat Fri 23-Nov-12 08:35:54

I've got the app on my android and it is really too small to read much comfortably. I caved and went ahead and bought the kindle. Will hide it till xmas and see what happens.

Ooo, it's got busy since I was last here!

Lala, I would hold out for an iPad if I were you, it does a lot more than the fire. We are getting a fire for technology phobic PIL, it's about all they could cope with grin

We've had a blu-ray for a few yearsblush But only because it is an added feature of the PS3 grin

Preschool run now, back in 30 min grin

I bought the kindle fire last night for £99 ( had to buy the wall charger seperate though) and now I'm a bit worried I've jumped in to soon and that its going to come up cheaper today.

I'd quite like to get my boys one of those orange watches each, shame they only have them in one colour though. There will be arguing ahead.

Some of the DVD box sets look quite good, need normal DVDs though not blu ray or 3d.

I was wandering about the Lego set, ningathingy but I am sick of picking bits of Lego and other crap from their bedroom floor.

BrianAndHisBalls Fri 23-Nov-12 08:48:58

is the kindle fire any good as a tablet? we were supposed to be buying nexus 7s for the dc but the fire is v tempting at £99, anyone know if they run all the normal apps etc?

Kveta Fri 23-Nov-12 08:49:31

I am not inspired by today's selection. maybe some of the books and dvds at 8pm, but it's quite shit until then. definitely not as good as last year!

aimingtobeaperfectionist Fri 23-Nov-12 08:50:26

I know you're all busy getting bargains out there but can someone PLEASE explain how it works?! I need these bargains and am too thick to work it out myself

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 08:53:51

aimingtobeaperfectionist you mean how does the Amazon Black Friday work?

LalaDipsey Fri 23-Nov-12 08:54:05

Ok so my dilemma...... I have enough Clubcard points to get an iPad..... However am about to split with H and should really save my points to replace stuff I am bound to lose - he will certainly take the TV since he is surgically attached to it much more than me and dc it seems!
However... Could save the bday £100 towards stuff, not buy the kindle and get an iPad?! Now I know there's a kindle app it means I can read on an iPad yes? Will it mean I can get books instantly onto an iPad without connecting to a pc? Thanks!!!

SlightlySuperiorPeasant Fri 23-Nov-12 08:54:26

They run Amazon apps but not Apple ones IIRC.

The battery life on the Kindle Fire is pants. If I wanted an e-reader I'd get a standard Kindle. If I wanted a tablet I'd get an iPad. If I wanted both I'd get an iPad Mini and download the Kindle app.

My opinion might have been different if the discount today had been a bit better grin

aimingtobeaperfectionist Fri 23-Nov-12 08:54:27

Yes!! I've never heard of it and am obviously missing out

SlightlySuperiorPeasant Fri 23-Nov-12 08:55:14

Also, the Kindle Fire doesn't have 3G.

I'd get an ipad (I have one) you can read on the kindle, watch tv (live on itv) and catch up plus there's millions of apps. I buy books off Amazon (on the ipad) and they get sent straight to it.

Sorry, you can read on the kindle app.

kellestar Fri 23-Nov-12 08:58:49

Was excited about Battlestar Galactica, then realised it's Blueray, we aren't that way inclined yet. sad

Though oddly considering the Vax S2 steam mop... I know... I'm not usually into domestic things, but I hate mopping with a vengeance. But it's 10.30 ish and I've got to go out this morning as I've not been out all week as we've all had stinking colds.

Also thinking about the lexar jump drive 32gb @ 4pm

I wouldn't have gone for the Kindle Fire if it was for myself but its what my mum has asked for this Christmas so bought it for her.

Kveta Fri 23-Nov-12 09:00:17

we have a google nexus with the kindle app already, seems as good as DH's kindle tbh. I am not too inspired by the kindle fire, though the HD one looks good.

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 09:00:54

Here's how it works.

Go to Top left hand corner is the link to the Black Friday deals, so click on that. Wait for page to load.

Once loaded, you'll see the "Black Friday Lightning Deals". You can see what is already available and what is upcoming.

The price isn't revealed until the counter has gone down to zero. It will automatically refresh when it goes down to patient, might take a few seconds. You then have until the offer is all claimed or time runs out to get the deal (click on "Add to basket"). Once you've added it to your basket, you have 15 mins to checkout or you'll lose the deal.

Just as an extra, if you notice that an offer hasn't expired but all claimed, it will say "Join Waitlist". We have found that quite often if you click "Join Waitlist" you'll still get the item in your basket at the deal price, but still have the 15 min limit to checkout.

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 09:01:51

aimingtobeaperfectionist Sorry, TOP RIGHT hand corner, not left!

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 09:04:40

....also, some items sell out very fast, others don't, so if you want it, be quick with your fingers!

Might also be worth checking out how much other places are selling the product as some deals aren't quite as good as they seem.

Piemistress Fri 23-Nov-12 09:05:33

Whoever asked about the Lovefilm subscription you have 6 months to start using it. I got one last year and didn't start it until this June when I went on maternity leave smile

whatkungfuthat Fri 23-Nov-12 09:05:38

I cancelled the kindle, and intend to drop massive hints for the ipad for xmas grin

Piemistress Fri 23-Nov-12 09:06:57

On my list so far (despite 3hrs sleep I'm not going to nap when DD naps, a decision I might regret!)

Sat Nav
Video Monitor (maybe)
Jamie Oliver
Rocket Dog
Kids Poncho
Nappies and Wipes
Mr Men set (maybe)
Clothes Dryer

Let's see how lucky I am or how much DD lets me spend time on the computer smile

GobblersSparklyExplodingKnob Fri 23-Nov-12 09:07:39

What time are the Kindles? I can't see it anywhere confused

I want the massive Savic Royal Suite, but i would like it for about £50, don't think that's very likely grin (Is £319......)

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 09:11:20

Gobbers Kindles are at £99 all day. Not a lightning deal. Follow the links on the site or just go to the normal Kindle listing

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 09:12:34
bagpuss Fri 23-Nov-12 09:21:12

mustafa the ninjago temple is very fragile and unless your ds is a very careful child I wouldn't go for it as play would be a bit limited. My two older dses have rebuilt it a fair bit but they are 12 and 7 and although ds2 still loves it and plays with it a lot, I think if he had been a bit younger it might not have been so good. There is a police lorry set on amazon today too. It looks similar to the Lego agents lorry that ds1 had a few years back, which dh said was a nicely rigid structure to build and went together quickly!

LalaDipsey Fri 23-Nov-12 09:22:43

So I want....
Pink watch at 9.30
Jamie O
Mr Men
Baby monitor if good price to keep at parents so I don't have to pack up the home one every time I goto visit
.... Glad the Kayak's not on today... I keep getting an urge to buy one even tho I have never Kayak'd in my life!!

Aspiemum2 Fri 23-Nov-12 09:24:22

How much do you think the nappies will be? We could certainly do with a good deal in this house!

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 09:24:26

ooh I think they've added to more stuff - or maybe I just missed it earlier!

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 09:24:38

got 2 kindles..that's the teens sorted grin

still watching for the laptop later though in case the deal's better confused

Pie, the scuttle bugs are great, we have one smile
Right, back from drop off, off to make a list for today now smile

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 09:38:32

Anyone think the Emeli Sande CD could be reduced to £1? Or too much wishful thinking on my part? grin

LalaDipsey Fri 23-Nov-12 09:39:38

I have the pink watch in my basket but can't justify it sad

I added MIB to my basket before I realised there was a blu ray version, so I think I'll wait for that one at 11.15.
Other than that, I am waiting for the Lego at 1pm, not sure if I will get any of it, just want to see what it goes for. Will see what happens this evening too, sooo tempted by jelly beans grin

GobblersSparklyExplodingKnob Fri 23-Nov-12 09:41:24

blush Many thanks, am with you now grin

Oh, I just realised that I didn't put what day it was in the thread title, my apologies blush

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 09:42:17

Just noticed more of the Disney themed dog beds today....seemed quite controversial on here yesterday grin

That's what I'm hoping for Soggy or else I'll have to sit on my hands!

The CD I mean

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 09:44:33

Whispers "They day we all buy Kindles" should be an indication grin

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 09:46:46

Pratting same here. I know who'd I buy it for, but not sure if she'll like her. So has to be a bargain or will also have to sit on hands!

Does the Emeli sande cd appear between deals at 11.15am when it says it's on at 10.31 for anyone else? confused

Hmm now it's moved hmm

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 09:50:59

prattling I think that happens when they add more stuff. I've had stuff showing starting at say 8.29 and 8.30 but the countdown being the same.

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 09:51:27

OOps pratting blush

I'm gutted there are no comedy dog clothes. The dog could do with some funky gold disco boots <deflated>

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 09:53:25

confused When I looked at what was coming up today at midnight, I wrote down that the CD was listed for 11.14. Now, it's listed with the other items at 11.14, but says 10.30am (with the countdown also going for 10.30).

So I'm not sure. Maybe Amazon is trying to hide what will be a cracking deal?? Hmmm....

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 09:56:22

Ok, I've refreshed page and its moved for me lol blush

Thats naughty though! People will take note of starting times and come on to Amazon thinking thats the time it will be sold.

It's not like there are people spending all day following all the deals hmm

magichamster Fri 23-Nov-12 09:59:23

So, 10yo DS has an ipod touch which he adores. Loves reading and has run out of bookshelf space in his room. Should we go for a bog standard kindle (I love mine) or a fire, as they're on special today?

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 10:00:25

off topic but....if Channel 4 show one more advert for Jamie and (forgot his name) Food Fight Club one more time this morning....grr!

After DH spending all week looking at me like this hmm whenever I mentioned amazon this week, when we were discussing it earlier due to the kindle, he kept mentioning things that have been on earlier in the week, so has obviously been glued to it too grin
He did mention the liquorice and I'm not sure I managed to hide very well that I bought some for him for a little Christmas present blush

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 10:09:07

Ooh, new cryptic clues!!

"The only way to listen to your favourite music"....iPod??? (8.14pm)

"Wherever you happen to be Stationed, you can still ... " confused (8.59pm)

orangepudding Fri 23-Nov-12 10:11:28

Thought about the kindle fire for one of my dds but it's only 8g so not worth buying.

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 10:13:28

"Wherever you happen to be Stationed, you can still ... ".....Playstation/Vita? (after a quick Google grin)

Yay, I love a good cryptic clue grin

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 10:17:59

Me too Whispers!!

What do you think....iPod and Playstation/Vita?

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 10:20:20

yeah there's a vita bundle on the e-mail today grin

just bought more stuff for the kids blush

HoneyDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 10:21:12

DS has just got to the end of his school shoes, that were new in September <<sobs>> those Kickers better be 50% off.

If nothing else interesting comes up I may get the Fire with my birthday vouchers.

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 10:21:28

I signed up for the emails, but have never looked at them!

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 10:22:52

Lala - If you want the Mr Men compare with The Book People. They have the full set for £30, plus there's 10% off today, and free postage. So £27 all in from them.

BrianAndHisBalls Fri 23-Nov-12 10:24:39

think im going to stick to the nexus 7, thank you for your comments has helped smile

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 10:27:15

Just checked email....yes the Playstation/Vita is listed, and the One Direction signed copy of their album. Kinda spoils the cryptic clues though!

I also had an email saying that I've won $500k on a BMW lottery....get in! grin lol

FudgeyCookie Fri 23-Nov-12 10:28:20

My mum asked me to text her how much the Vax steam mop thingy was as she's at work.. it's in my basket for 4 more minutes so she better reply soon..

Not really impressed by much else.. plus I have about £3 until monday.. I've got to stop looking but it's so addictive!

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 10:29:41

Fudgey I've been addicted all week and haven't bought a thing!

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 10:31:53

£4.99 ... Ah well

That took forever for the add to basket button to appear! Though not getting it as it's not £1 grin

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 10:33:34

Pratting Yep, took forever to get the button too!

FudgeyCookie Fri 23-Nov-12 10:35:12

Steam mop gone from my basket now.. Can't believe that 57% have claimed the N Dubz tshirt hmm

Soggy I'm really bad when it comes to bargains, if it's not enough of a discount I won't go for it and then I'll end up regretting it later on.. BUT it is stopping me go overdrawn grin

Wingdingdong Fri 23-Nov-12 10:38:06

I have the kindle app on my iPad. It's great, no need to connect to anything. I get some books on kindle, some on iBooks.

I bought DH the kindle for his birthday, in an impressive display of selfless oneupmanship he gave me the iPad for mine the next month. I win! But I guess depends what you use it for. DH reads on the train to work, plane, etc, and is usually carrying work laptop at same time. Kindle's smaller, lighter, easier to read one-handed (or in bed). I use my iPad as a laptop substitute eg now when feeding the baby or doing online grocery orders whilst supervising DD at the playground. When I get books, they're mostly cookery type ones...

Loulousmummy Fri 23-Nov-12 10:40:18

Do I buy Emeli Sande or not. 5 minutes to decide. Hmm.

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 10:41:06

was I naughty to have basketed the big telly and then let it go? just got carried away in the 'can I bag one' moment blush

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 10:41:08

Took ages for the buy button to appear on the Panasonic TV offer. I'm on the Waitlist but it's not that much more expensive elsewhere TBH.

Well my light wand and little mix cd have arrived (it's not signed, they've drawn features on themselves like glasses and a beard hmm). Was hoping it'd be my fly boots as it says they're out for delivery. Hope they come later so I can wear them tonight.

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 10:41:51

oh I bought it..Dad's getting her for X-mas grin

Marne Fri 23-Nov-12 10:44:37

I bought the wii u-draw as i chickened out last time, was going to buy it on zavvi but it said 'delivery up to a month' so payed the exta pound to get it today smile. Looks like today could be an expensive day.

Ah I just bought the Sat Nav. I can't decide if it's a good investment or not. We have one but it's 4 years old and it's not great, it's very hard to find software to update it. If you're on a newly built road, then it just shows a white space.

So far Ive bought: Canon camera, bench hat set, trunki suitcase and the sat nav. I also want to buy the chuggington dvd set.

I'll be scared to check my bank account at the end of the month. blush

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 10:46:06

I had the Philips hostage soup blush

Ooh I must be lucky today. As soon as I posted my last message there was a knock on the door with 2 big boxes. Containing my fly boots (which hoorah! they do fit up my fat legs just) and my food processor. Happy :D

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 10:48:39

The tomtom is brilliant Dontbugme and even a dinosaur like me can update it

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 10:48:55

Can't believe Indy is £30, and gone so fast!

It's like Christmas!! And the cat is playing in the boxes. Happy all round in the pratting household grin until dh looks at his bank statement

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 10:51:14

grin at until dh looks at bank statement

thanks for the reassurance anklebitersmum. I'm sure you're not a dinosaur smile
Do you have the voice recognition thingy? Is it easy to use?

grin Now where to hide the boxes...

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 10:55:19

I've just bought the Panasonic! shock

It is the new 3D version of the one I bought last year blush The current one will move to the playroom to replace the huuuuuuge one.

[more money than sense]

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 11:00:30

I am now officially banning myself from looking on Amazon.

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 11:01:17

I bought the (unsigned) copy of 1D album earlier in the week because it dropped to £4.99. DD does not need the signed copy!!
Seems lots more on there since i last looked.
Some later that i may go for.

I'm not looking today. Too poor. But my Kipling bag and my dab radio arrived just now. The radio is very cute smile

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 11:02:53

Postie didn't bring me any parcel sad!
MIB dispatched already. That was fast smile.

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 11:02:55

gringrin I've just popped by Amazon Black Friday cherry!! grin lol

I did buy the Emeli Sande CD after all (after trawling the net at prices of the CD vs Adele, it was a good deal)

It was DP who convinced me to buy it shock lol

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 11:03:47

I don't know whether to cancel the TV!

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 11:04:35

no voice on ours but it's really really easy to use (and follow once travelling) and you can set it to "moo" at hubby when he speeds grin

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 11:04:46

lol Pratting grin

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 11:05:28

Had a bolt of common sense and have cancelled it.

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 11:06:07

woo hoo slippers for Mum done & I got me some too..different sizes count as different items it seems grin

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 11:06:48

Soup I think that was the right decision smile

grin at Soup

Waiting for the MIB on blu-ray now smile

magentastardust Fri 23-Nov-12 11:08:48

For all those of you going for baby wipes and baby nappies-not sure if you have a Home Bargains near you? Huggies and Pampers baby wipes are £1 per pack there and a large box of Huggies nappies are £4.99 -Thats where I always get mine-HTH

haggisaggis Fri 23-Nov-12 11:11:04

I'll join in now - bought a drill for BIL's Christmas yesterday - about 30% off and just bought dh a pair of headphones for over 60% off - which'll go well with the Apple Mac he got for his birthday. I've not seen much else I would want - apart froma couple of things for DS but I've already sepent enough on him so he's getting nothing else.

AnnaBegins Fri 23-Nov-12 11:11:44

My fly boots arrived - they are pretty and fit my fat calves grin (but on the loosest buckle so all you slim ladies should be fine too)

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 11:11:45

The OXO Tot Whale Pail looks like a cool thing to have if you have little ones. However, even with the discount, seems quite a lot for some moulded plastic and suckers!

SlightlySuperiorPeasant Fri 23-Nov-12 11:13:56

I love my TomTom but I haven't been able to use is for ages as DH shorted out my socket and I've been too lazy to get it fixed.

I got the car seat protector to go in DH's car. Nothing now until Brio at 1.

Anna, mine are on the loosest buckle too grin

Loulousmummy Fri 23-Nov-12 11:16:01

Why does the Emili Sande cd show as full price on the order confirmation page? It's the first thing I've ordered on Black Friday. Have I done something wrong? I did select the BF reduced option.

SlightlySuperiorPeasant Fri 23-Nov-12 11:16:05

grin Soup. I think that was the right thing to do.

Bloody hell, MIB went quick confused I dithered because it is still expensive, then clicked and am now 186th on the wait list hmm

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 11:18:30

I don't want a 36 inch 3D TV FFS - what I want is a standard HD TV at about 32 inches to replace the playroom TV. Thank god I saw sense! grin

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 11:18:43

Still banned form Amazon though grin

SlightlySuperiorPeasant Fri 23-Nov-12 11:19:37

LouLou it should show the CD at full price and then deduct £4 as a 'promotional discount' on the order summary. The final total should show as £4.99.

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 11:20:22

anklebiters were the slippers the "bedroom athletics" ones? <snigger snigger>

SlightlySuperiorPeasant Fri 23-Nov-12 11:20:28

Let's see how long that ban lasts...

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 11:22:46

Loulou When you confirm order it shows it at full price. Go onto next page (I think) and it will show it with a £4 promotion discount. Just keep going through until you place the order, it should show up at £4.99.

Bought mine a few mins ago (same CD) and although it said £8.99 at first, the price I paid was £4.99

CointreauVersial Fri 23-Nov-12 11:22:52

Just added myself to waitlist for the Wii UDraw tablet and got it - hoorah. DD2 will be pleased.

I looked at those slippers too, but thought DH might take the slogan as some kind of invitation/challenge. grin

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 11:23:23

X posting, sorry!

SlightlySuperiorPeasant Fri 23-Nov-12 11:24:50

So you should be, trying to help another poster, tsk tsk.

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 11:25:00

lol Beedle and Cointreau

grin that's a brilliant way to remind DH about the speed.
It's good to know it's easy to use. I get really stressed when I don't know the route.

SSP That's great that you find it brilliant and I can totally relate to being too lazy to fix something. One of DS's toys needed something small done with the wiring, finally goty round tpo it after a year.

Soupdragon, YY, to right decision.

SlightlySuperiorPeasant Fri 23-Nov-12 11:25:45

Please stop with the slipper innuendo! DD hasn't lost the startle reflex yet and I keep making her jump when I snort.

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 11:25:47

Slightly I know! blush

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 11:27:03

bought the canon..oh boy here comes the buyers remorse blush

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 11:27:06

LOL!!! Slightly

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 11:29:20

beedle yup. I actually hadn't noticed but now I have..AIBU (or just plain wrong) to give them to my Mum?? confused

SlightlySuperiorPeasant Fri 23-Nov-12 11:30:25

Stop it. I've just sprayed her now!

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 11:31:19

Well, there was actually nothing I was interested in until the cat flap at 3:45 and I can easily talk myself out of that one as one cat has a failed microchip and thus would not be able to use it without further expense on my part grin

Preschool run again now, will be back later in the excitement for the Lego! Is it bad that I am hoping that everyone will be trying to grab the other 8pm stuff and I will be able to get the baby wipes blush grin

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 11:32:05

blush slightly

<hangs head guiltily while giggling>

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 11:33:30

Eww Slightly <still chuckling> grin

Those Trespass jackets are a good price

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 11:33:31

I'm glad everyone else is still at lunch as I sit infront of my computer giggling grin

ankle I think you'll have to wait and see if they have any kind of bedroom athletics logo on them grin

I got the MIB Blu-ray trilogy. We don't have the films so I splurged on them.
DP got himself a new Tomtom too.
I'm now waiting on the HP 3D films at 6pm!!
(I'm going to spend a fortune, I know it)

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 11:33:56

oh and sorry slightly blush

SlightlySuperiorPeasant Fri 23-Nov-12 11:34:55

Do I want the Trespass Bengairn? Tis an ugly-looking thing but I do need a waterproof coat that fits my post-maternity self and is not my brother's.

SlightlySuperiorPeasant Fri 23-Nov-12 11:35:17

Apologies accepted.

Viviennemary Fri 23-Nov-12 11:37:08

I haven't got a kindle. But have thought about buying one. And I'm not sure I like being pressurised into buying something today when I don't really need to buy anything today. But I might have a quick look.

WildThong Fri 23-Nov-12 11:37:16

only the one deal for 11.45, strange

Piemistress Fri 23-Nov-12 11:37:51

just tried my fly boots on and they are too big, mwahhhhhh how can a size 3 be too big ffs????

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 11:38:35

Flippin' nora, there's a lot at 7.59pm! Hope the site doesn't crash confused

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 11:40:54

Ooh, just noticed that Crackdown 2 (Xbox game) is at 7.14pm...and at a normal price of £7.22 might be a real bargain!

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 11:41:44

Wild They have been adding new things and moving some items it might be something to do with one of those things??

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 11:44:11

Piemistress Thick socks. You need thick socks for your childlike feet

WildThong Fri 23-Nov-12 11:46:00

i'm not able to look away!!

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 11:47:27

I was meant to go to the gym. Got DSs ready to go, strapped in the car seats... and couldn't start the car. Panicked (classic), phoned the gym to cancel the creche, phoned the lady I train with, and then phoned my dad. Should have done it the other way around! It was the bloody steering lock!

My first thought "ooh, I can try to get that rucksack for DH now" hmm

My name is ImpYCelyn, and I am an addict.

I got MIB, but missed the rucksack.

Piemistress Fri 23-Nov-12 11:48:44

soup I am tempted to go into town on Monday to try on a pair in the shops to make sure they haven't sent me the wrong size despite the box and the shoe both saying they are a 3 I don't believe it! GUTTED!!

I got the Harry Potter Kinnect game for me for ds1. Just need to get the Xbox fixed now...

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 11:50:42

School run for DS2 is going to be late cos if that Pentax is miraculously cheap affordable it's mine

imogengladhart Fri 23-Nov-12 11:50:44

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 11:53:03

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 11:53:32

Ooooh.... big box from Amazon has just arrived grin

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 11:54:08

If it is the mattress it is a lot smaller than I envisaged hmm

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 11:55:07

ooh Soup what is it? what is it?

<claps hands excitedly>

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 11:55:25

x-post blush

Is there any way of finding out where you are on the waiting lists other than what they first tell you?

Oh and if you're buying one of the women's jackets in an xxl, fecking put it back, I want it!

WildThong Fri 23-Nov-12 11:56:21

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 12:02:50

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 12:03:21

imogengladhart Go to page 3 on this thread, I explain it to aimingtobeaperfectionist

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 12:04:02

Fire alarm has been going off in our flats for past 10 mins, doing head in now

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 12:04:18

Yay, it just went off!!

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 12:04:56

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 12:05:07

Massive box just came!

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 12:05:47

Nice haul Soup grin

DangerousMouse Fri 23-Nov-12 12:08:13

Am I the only one finding delivery really slow this week? Obviously they are busy but stuff I ordered Monday hasn't arrived yet.

I got my Mum a hamper yesterday and she's coming to stay till Tuesday, hopefully it'll come in time for her to take it back with her as I'll have to post it otherwise.

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 12:10:22

I think the dispatch is only quick if you have amazon prime (though I might be wrong). The stuff I ordered yesterday has an estimated delivery 28th Nov to 6th Dec, but I am abroad so its not surprising my stuff takes longer

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 12:10:57

I think I like the boots (and at that price I'm not sending them back anyway)

Marne Fri 23-Nov-12 12:12:16

I have only had one item delivered (from monday) still have 5 things to come. I dont mind as dd2 is home so i dont want her poking around anyway grin.

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 12:14:37

Gareth Malone and Victoria Pendleton books coming up ....again! (4th appearance for Vic this week!)

ginmakesitallok Fri 23-Nov-12 12:19:53

oooh I WANT the gaggia coffee machine! At the minute it's saying its £459 to buy - will it be cheaper??

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 12:20:21

Liking the radio... although I may crochet it a jacket to blend into my kitchen better!

WildThong Fri 23-Nov-12 12:21:42

this is just like Christmas!!

oh hang on...

chocolatespiders Fri 23-Nov-12 12:23:26

Which jelly beans have people bought are they Jelly belly? My mums fav smile

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 12:24:50

LOL - I thought that as I opened my box, WildThong smile

I guess this is Christmas for me though as I don't get any big gifts, just token ones from parents/brothers smile

ariadneoliver Fri 23-Nov-12 12:25:52

The chilli liquorice I ordered has just arrived. It is surprisingly tasty with quite a kick. The sculptress meal bars have come too and it looks like they came all the way from Spain so that was amazingly quick. I am just waiting for the earrings but I expect they'll be by courier as they were pricey.

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 12:26:56

The sound from my radio (View Quest Retro WiFi Radio) is superb. REally really pleased.

whatkungfuthat Fri 23-Nov-12 12:35:26

It looks to me like they are bundling all the stuff together for as few deliveries as possible if you have selected the free option. I've just had multiple emails saying all my orders have been dispatched, they were ordered on different days.

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 12:36:10

ginmakesitallok yes it will be cheaper. The reduced price will only be revealed when the counter ends, so at 12.59. What the price will be is anyone's guess!

HoneyDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 12:36:30

eBay have free listings this weekend. Think they intend to profit from buyers regret? grin

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 12:38:41

Honey Free listings as in it's free to list the item, rather than giving stuff away free? <lives in eternal hope> grin

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 12:40:33

(Just gone onto Ebay, 'selected just for you'...Rod Stewart autobiography....oh Ebay, you know me so well hmm)

HoneyDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 12:44:28

Free to list an item. grin

Arsing Amazon. Drove myself mad trying to get one of the jackets. Finally got one and ordered, then thought I'd better check on the jacket website to make sure the sizes are right.

Amazon say XL is size 20. Trespass say it's a 16 angry Bastards.

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 12:48:28

Only 1 item at 1:15, damn everyone's going to be going for the same thing. I want Jamie's 15 min meals even though DP says no more cook books

Arithmeticulous Fri 23-Nov-12 12:49:58

Is today the day I finally pay for Gareth Malone?

kikidee Fri 23-Nov-12 12:50:23

Just joining in to say I got a food processor for £29.99 this morning. Don't know whether it's a brilliant deal or not but I've wanted one for ages and thought £30 was a reasonable price to pay. Very pleased.

Kikidee I got that food processor the other day and it came today. I've wrapped it up now for myself, yes I'm sad but it looks great. Can't wait to start using it.

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 12:54:45

IS jamie Oliver book any good?(crap cook lol!)

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 12:56:46

No idea grin

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 12:57:17

I used to buy a lot of cook books but now I just get them from the internet. Get what I want and free...print out and keep in my own folder.

kikidee Fri 23-Nov-12 12:57:40

Hooray for us Pratting. I'm delighted with myself!

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 12:58:16

Have bought some of the earlier Jamie books and thought they were good used to just enjoy reading them, let alone use them to cook grin

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 12:59:11

kikidee and Pratting think you got a great deal there, £30 is a fab price...well done!

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 13:00:51

Jamie is £9.99 at the book people. (plus P&P)

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 13:02:14

Some good lego deals there

grin angry Gwendoline

Grr, I got the Ninja thing in my basket, but not the police truck, which is what I actually wanted sad Going to delete the ninja thing and make someone very happy grin

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 13:04:59

I got the police lego for my nephew

PixieHot Fri 23-Nov-12 13:05:07

I got Illy beans, for an okay price smile.

Now I'm really tempted by a digital photo frame...

Oh, sorry Gwendoline, that was supposed to be shock, not grin blushblushblush

WildThong Fri 23-Nov-12 13:05:48

school shoes next up for me....

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 13:06:01

Sorry x-post sounded a bit gloating blush

I get confused with Jamie's 30 minute meals so I dread to think what he'd do to me in 15 ;-)

Just saw that the piano went for £420 shock My sister got a beautiful piano off ebay a couple of years ago for 99p! That's 99 pence!

Haha, that's ok Beedle, I didn't need it this year, was just going to get it for future years while it was a good price smile Plus DH will be happy I'm not spending more money grin

Arithmeticulous Fri 23-Nov-12 13:15:08

I got the fire temple - do I want it? It's still £46, and I have the Ninjago brickmasters still not despatched.... confused

Talking of which, some of the Lego sticker book/brickmaster deals later look good.

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 13:16:12

£5 for Jamie is a good price.

even though I'm not looking due to my self imposed ban

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 13:19:41

I missed J.Oliver book because laptop went flat while i was attempting to make bread (1st try ever! blush) Im 500+ on wait list lol!

Marne Fri 23-Nov-12 13:20:13

We have the fire temple and tbh its not worth the money, took me all christmas evening to put it together and then as soon as you touch it it falls apart sad. We have most of the ninjago and none of it is realy any good for playing with (unless you glue it).

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 13:20:47

Tortoise I have it in my basket and could post it to you... I don't really want it!

7 mins left.

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 13:22:55

Soupdragon Thought you were banned lol! I think postage would make it too expensive but thanks anyway smile. I'm not desperate for it. Probably poncy meals that i can't be bothered to try grin!

Poppedout Fri 23-Nov-12 13:23:28

NYDJ blck skinny jeans - I have 7 mins left to decide if I want to buy them. Do I?!!

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 13:23:31

I added it just in case grin Was just letting it expire though smile

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 13:23:37

got ninja lot for DD1 and DS2's 'Bloke with beard' pile..will split it between them smile

Decided against the star wars lot..all book and no lego hmm

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 13:23:59

I have released it back to Amazon.

Arithmeticulous Fri 23-Nov-12 13:24:26

Marne but the reviews are so good. Could it have been your construction <ducks> ?

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 13:25:48

Tortoise I'd go for Jamie's Ministry as a first Jamie book tbh (and we have them all blush )

Poppedout Fri 23-Nov-12 13:26:37

Bought. Oops. So much for Xmas shopping - so far it's only been Me shopping... blush

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 13:27:39

I got Jamie, next up is the Rocket Dog boots, they should come up quite cheap with the £10 fashion discount but do I really need them??

Colliecollie Fri 23-Nov-12 13:30:05

How do you use the £10 fashion discount? I was given it after buying Minnie nightdress then bought the jeans but it wasn't automatically applied and I only remembered after checkout on the jeans.

WildThong Fri 23-Nov-12 13:30:17

Beedle the discount didn't apply to the Fly boots the other day - watch in case it doesn't work

FudgeyCookie Fri 23-Nov-12 13:31:47

10week old DD is not liking me being on the laptop.. She's sat in her bouncy chair frowning at me, I keep telling her that Mummy is missing the good deals but she's not convinced hmm

Marne Fri 23-Nov-12 13:32:47

My construction skills are good grin, maybe my kids are just too heavy handed? we have had more luck with different lego sets, all the ninjago is now in the big tub of mixed lego. I have just bought the lego ideas book so they can just construct with the huge amounts of leg o they already have.

We bought the big mixed box on bf last year and it was my best buy.

Colliecollie Fri 23-Nov-12 13:35:25

Discovered you can only use the £10 fashion discount on 'selected items'.

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 13:36:49

Thanks for that I might not bother then - well of course I'll click on them and get them in the basket and then be tempted and buy them!

Indith Fri 23-Nov-12 13:38:17

Humph, I was looking at the police lego and maybe the brio but only half the things refershed when the deal started and those ones didn't, by the time they finally did they were all gone sad

Oh well at least I got the lego brickmaster stuff yesterday.

Arithmeticulous Fri 23-Nov-12 13:42:04

I shall consult with DH - we have tonnes of Lego, but it's the minifigures they play with the most - and this will have 7, and it goes with the Ninjago Brickmaster bundle, and we already have the ideas book ... Oh I'm Amazon's marketing dream, aren't I blush

I think I'm done until 8pm - unless they add anything else in - do you think they will?

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 13:43:26

Considering the kickers shoes for DDs in next sizes up. Would have to be about half price though! DD2 is on her 3rd pair already since September so no point soending too much.

Marne - a big mixed box was what I was hoping for this year sad

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 13:45:49

indith I think there's more brio coming later

PixieHot Fri 23-Nov-12 13:47:37

Gah, I don't want a Kindle Fire, but it's still a bit galling that it's cheaper than my Kindle Paperwhite at the moment grin.

Although am I right that you can only get it for £99 if you're happy for it to display special offers and sponsored screensavers when it's locked? shock

Piemistress Fri 23-Nov-12 13:49:47

My 5mo DD is also not very impressed with my laptop use today! I just need her to nap long enough for me to have a chance of getting the Rocket Dog boots (to compensate for having to return the Fly ones, SOB SOB) then that's me done till 8pm. BUT! DP is away meaning I have to get 3yr DS and 5mo DD in bed and asleep by 8pm on my own, so i've got a chance at the Nappies, Wipes and Mr Men (if cheaper than bookpeople). MMMMM it's not looking good!

RugBugs Fri 23-Nov-12 13:50:30

Indith The Brio went so quickly it was claimed by the time it refreshed for me! I joined the waitlist for both and was able to add them to my basket after 15minutes.

Gave up the flying scotsman set but very pleased to have got the other one, DD is sitting playing with her learning curve right now grin

PixieHot Fri 23-Nov-12 13:52:24

Does anyone know how much the AA breakdown kit went for earlier in the week? It's £18.90 at the moment. I'd like it, but only a little bit smile.

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 13:53:56

It's £109 without the special offers being displayed.

Piemistress Fri 23-Nov-12 13:57:00

There are some good breakdown deals on Quidco.

I've used AutoAid in the past (£35 for full cover, home away everything) and never had a problem

PixieHot Fri 23-Nov-12 13:59:07

Ah, it's only a warning triangle, high via jacket etc Pie. I'm afraid the AA don't come to rescue you. Thanks for the tip though - I'm sure I pay nearly that for my AA breakdown cover which doesn't cover me if I'm at home.

Piemistress Fri 23-Nov-12 14:01:25

<doh> smile

PixieHot Fri 23-Nov-12 14:07:09

smile Pie.

I've just read the reviews for the AA breakdown kit, it sounds pretty useful. But it would only cost ~£11 for the 3 things in it that I'd really like, and I'm not sure it will be that cheap!

bagpuss Fri 23-Nov-12 14:09:59

DH has now been back into Waterstones to check out the difference between the Fire and Fire HD during his lunch break. I am dithering although I want it for general household consumption rather than for myself. What are the chances of the HD coming up this evening? DH did point out that if we buy the normal Fire then it would be here tomorrow so we could try it out at the weekend. Oh, he said there really wasn't much between the two devices.

I am also trying to decide about the lego book bundles for ds2. I inadvertently bought ds1 a watch this morning and now both he and dd1 have something extra from us but ds2 doesn't (he will notice, he is 7). What to do, what to do? Has anyone got the book bundles yet and could you tell me if they are any good?

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 14:17:38

Got one pair of shoes for DD2 and the other pair for DD1 smile. Really good price i thought.

Piemistress Fri 23-Nov-12 14:18:41

Ok so Rocket Dogs in my basket, hoping their sizing is a bit more spot on for me! Would hate to have to return 2 pairs of boots! Annoyingly have got a pair upstairs in different style but can't remember the size and DD is sleeping!

Hmm, I appear to have some boots in my basket... should I get them?! confused

neddle Fri 23-Nov-12 14:20:12

Where would I find the code for the £10 off fashion?

HoneyDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 14:22:02

I got the shoes!!!! grin

Get me. The only two items I have bought have been needed. I have not succumbed to any fripperyiness this year <<proud>>

Piemistress Fri 23-Nov-12 14:22:09

whispers I'll get them if you do grin

Ooo, will the fashion discount work?

Haha, Pie grin

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 14:26:29

These are the boots i want! Didn't like the amazon ones!

LeanneJ Fri 23-Nov-12 14:26:38

I missed out on a few thing I wanted but as usual every year I always spend a little more that I should, and I bet I'm not the only one hahaha

neddle Fri 23-Nov-12 14:26:53

I thought it was worth a try, but I can't find a code or anything to put in.

I'm sure I've bought something this week that should have given me the £10

I don't think I will, I don't really need them...

Piemistress Fri 23-Nov-12 14:32:32

tortoise they are great, love the wedge (I need that as i'm a short arse!)

BeedleTheBard Fri 23-Nov-12 14:33:09

I also decided against them, mainly because it would be really expensive to send them back if they don't fit/I don't like them

I didn't get them. Also been informed that the Lego police van has completely sold now sad

kellestar Fri 23-Nov-12 14:38:51

wow! can't believe all the extra things that have been added in since this morning... ah well, teaches me to leave the house!

Rocketdog's are true to size. I loves my daps. The boots are not for thee of chunky calf though. I can cope with the hobbit boots but any higher and the just shuffle down.

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 14:40:08

Nothing for mow until the flash drive at 3.59. Should just get back from school in time!

bagpuss Fri 23-Nov-12 14:43:44

Cross that the sonic game is as cheap as it is. My mum has bought that for ds2 for christmas already!

The fashion code applies automatically when you check out if the item is eligible - at least it did when I put a watch in my basket yesterday.

milk Fri 23-Nov-12 14:44:38

So disappointed I forgot about the Jamie Oliver book sad

I think that's it for me today. Spent way to much this week <gulp>

I bet some really good stuff will be on tonight and I'll miss it sad Oh well, it's probably a good thing really.

neddle Fri 23-Nov-12 14:48:48

Thanks bagpuss, I couldn't find anything about it on their site.

Still, £14-40 for Kickers school shoes is great.

I fell asleep and missed the boys watch I was after. I woke up thanks to stupid braxton hicks just as it was finishing and then accidentally woke ds3 up before he was ready too by rolling around and moaning so now I have a grumpy toddler, stomach ache and no watches.

kellestar Fri 23-Nov-12 16:03:02

ha, 32gb jumpdrive bought and paid for. brill.

kellestar Fri 23-Nov-12 16:04:28

wow. they all sold out quick. 4 minutes!

GobblersSparklyExplodingKnob Fri 23-Nov-12 16:08:23

grin I got the jumpdrive too, they did go quick! Also the Scoody Doo morphing thing, which quite frankly looks shit, but it is on ds's christmas list so I am glad to pay less for it.

I'm just hanging around for the 8pm stuff now smile Am on my own tonight, so am like Pie, I will have to get both dc under 3 in bed asleep by then confused I like a challenge grin

kellestar Fri 23-Nov-12 16:22:07

smile know what you mean... DH is keeping an eye on the soldering set... why?

rotavirusrita Fri 23-Nov-12 16:29:44

hello everyone.
for those looking at the lego bundles check the book people first.... i have bought 2 book on their and a free octonauts book for less than the black friday price.

anyone know how much the galaxy smasung media player is likely to go for? i missed it earlier in the week and DS1 really wants one!

rotavirusrita Fri 23-Nov-12 16:30:08

there not their ffs

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 16:30:37

haven't told DH there's tools that would just be silly

neddle Fri 23-Nov-12 16:31:54

grr, two things I want to watch at 8pm, then I want to see what the mystery things are at 8.14 (ipod I think).
I'm going to be at horrible histories with my guides, so I need to be sneaky and hope my phone works.

Marne Fri 23-Nov-12 16:42:19

Am i too old for a cow Trunki? grin, i want one but we already have the bee sad.

Just went to check my odrers and i am slightly shocked at how much i have spent and what i have bought shock, i hope it all comes on a day dh is at work or he may devorce me. On the plus side i have saved money by not going out this week (hav'nt had to put any fuel in my car so have saved £40).

SoupDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 16:51:03

My bloody mattress is now nearly 3 hours late. 11-3 delivery my arse.

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 16:56:23

Lol Marne. I'm wondering if I should buy the cow for DS2, who is 7 months grin

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 17:09:32

I don't even need luggage and I'm considering the flippin cow too confused

jimblejambles Fri 23-Nov-12 17:10:06

Do you know if you can only order one of each deal? One of the Kipling purses would ideal for my mum and aunt

HoneyDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 17:11:29

Can you get Android apps on the Samsung?

ClaimedByMe Fri 23-Nov-12 17:12:41

My next aim is the spiderman Xbox game at 7.15

I am repeating to myself 'I do not need a cow trunki'

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 17:15:08

jimble - yes, just one of each.

Annoying as I need two sizes of nappies.

neddle Fri 23-Nov-12 17:17:27

I got two different sizes of kickers. If there are options, you might be able to get both.

rotavirusrita Fri 23-Nov-12 17:22:52

honeydragon, yes i think so. I think its basically a samsung smartphone without the phone ( which is ideal for ds1 who is not allowed doesnt want a phone yet!)

however I think they look really rubbish doesnt want everyone to try and get one and me fail smile

orangina Fri 23-Nov-12 17:29:05

Have just bought the Kindle Fire for DH for Christmas. I have no idea if he wants one. I was seduced by the bargainacious quality of it.

Does DH want a Kindle Fire? Does anyone have one? Should I keep and give, or just send back?

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 17:31:48

neddle - oh great! Thanks for the heads up. I'll need to be super quick I think.

neddle Fri 23-Nov-12 17:48:35

click the option for one and add to basket, then click somewhere on the main screen to get rid of the popup. Then choose the other option and add to basket.
Then breathe, and look at the price and dither.

If I get a cow Trunki for DS2, I would have to find one for DS1 (6) wouldn't I?

mirpuppet Fri 23-Nov-12 17:54:22

Trunki too small for a 6 year old IMO.

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 17:54:38

I missed the flash drive,
I really hope to get jelly beans in a minute!!

SweetMingePie Fri 23-Nov-12 17:56:13

Been out all day, what have I missed?

After the Spider-Man game at 19:15, fight you for it Claimed grin

mirpuppet Fri 23-Nov-12 17:58:18

My son (6) still loves his Trunki BoostApak Travel Booster Seat.

He takes it on the plane but also useful if we go to theatre so he can see with out sitting on a lap.

Mwahahahahaha! The Harry Potter 3D's are MINE!! grin
Bargain at £8.99 each. Everytime I've thought about getting them, they've been £20+ each.

WildThongonthesparklytree Fri 23-Nov-12 18:04:47

jelly beans are coming!!

insanityscratching Fri 23-Nov-12 18:07:03

I've bought the jelly beans too, got to decide now whether to give them to ds or eat them myself grin

I have the jelly beans and bowl in my basket... should i?

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 18:07:40

Yay! Got 2 lots of jelly beans (my brother used his amazon!)

It's only 150g of jelly beans sad

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 18:08:37

Can't believe the tube with less g in costs more than the 700g one i got!

Marne Fri 23-Nov-12 18:08:52

I got Jelly beans grin
Nothing else i want now until 8.14 (unless i give in and buy the trunki), my 8 year old still likes her Trunki, we use it to store toys in and to take on holiday.

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 18:10:47

I want kitchen scales but they would have to have over 50% off to be worth getting!

FFS, i should have gone for the 700g jar sad

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 18:13:22

uh oh..looks like there's gonn abe a bun fight at 7.15 people (and I'm in) grin

I joined the waitlist for the jar, but am 500+ so no chance sad

mirpuppet Fri 23-Nov-12 18:17:55

I gave up the jelly beans -- too much temptation in the new year.

ClaimedByMe Fri 23-Nov-12 18:18:04

Im on that waitlist too Whisper!

I will probably forget at 7.15 for the game!

Marne Fri 23-Nov-12 18:20:30

I was number 450 (ish) on a list yesterday and still got the item so you might still get them.

Right, off to do bedtime, will be back at 8 <preparing mean face>

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 18:21:52

sneaky Big Bang in there now..

I meant preparing my mean face for the other 8pm shoppers, not for the lovely dc blush

thegreylady Fri 23-Nov-12 18:34:17

I was so desperate to get the lego for dgs [which I did] that I missed the Brio which was on at the same time.Still it looks as though it is on again later smile

TaggieCampbellBlackFriday Fri 23-Nov-12 18:38:30

DH got a laptop for DD2. V pleased.
I'm at work and missing bargains! Argh.

catsareeasier Fri 23-Nov-12 18:45:17

So I take it Amazon's incredibly low UK tax payments are no longer an issue (for those of us based in the UK), as long as they throw us a bone of a few bargains - which skim-reading the above, seem only to be available if you devote your entire day dangling on a thread?

Doesn't anyone feel just the slightest bit grubby? There ARE other places to acquire these things you know. It's going to rain all day tomorrow, why not spend your time keeping dry in some actual local shops and save some real people's jobs? There are lots of bargains as they're desperate for business.

whatkungfuthat Fri 23-Nov-12 18:50:47

Not grubby at all actually, they are a rather large employer of UK workers too so I can live with it.

TaggieCampbellBlackFriday Fri 23-Nov-12 18:52:02

We've had this discussion cat.

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 18:52:41

well as a SAHM in her pj's it's not like I've got anything better to do grin wink

mirpuppet Fri 23-Nov-12 18:52:50

ncredibly low UK tax payments have never been an issue for me -- they have good tax advisors and they and othet multinationals were using the loopholes the government allowed them. It is up to teh government to claw back.

Real people work for Amazon -- like Royal Mail when you select 1st Class postage.

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 18:55:54

Oh no - my fly boots are too big sad I'm a size 8 everywhere, except fly boots apparently. I thought it was just cos of tights to start with, but I've put socks on and they're still too big.

I'm gutted. They are gorgeous in every way, even the smell.

I dread to think how much they'll cost to return sad

Poppedout Fri 23-Nov-12 18:57:10

My amazon addiction purchases keep my local DPD and home delivery network drivers in business. My local shops don't sell the things I buy from Amazon - or I could drive 30 miles to the nearest shopping mall. I know which method of shopping I prefer...

mirpuppet Fri 23-Nov-12 18:58:45

I think retrns of shoes is "free" so check it out ImpYCelyn.

Poppedout Fri 23-Nov-12 18:58:59

Oh no Impy. Would an insole help? If not, don't most of Amazon's shoes and clothes have free returns?

Thanks for your input, Cat, but this is the wrong thread for this discussion. And no, I don't feel the slightest bit grubby, thanks for asking smile

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 19:00:16

Oh do they? I've never bought clothes or shoes from them before. I'll check with an insole, but I think they'll be going back, sadly.

ClaimedByMe Fri 23-Nov-12 19:00:20

I would rather stick pins in my eyes than take my 2 dc into town on a rainy Saturday 5 weeks before Christmas!

bagpuss Fri 23-Nov-12 19:00:32

Actually cat, I do that as well. In the last week we have spent rather a large sum of money with two different local service providers - approximately 5 times the amount I've spent with amazon in the same period of time. I don't feel grubby, why would I? Not only do amazon have their own uk work force but they provide couriers with business, who in turn require local people to deliver the goods to me.

Anyway, just came on to say dh has ordered the kindle! I really didn't think he would. I had buyers remorse over the watch and tried to cancel but couldn't so it looks like that is meant to be too grin.

Poppedout Fri 23-Nov-12 19:00:55

Also Cats - 'real people' confused Did you think Amazon is run by elves or something?

1dc asleep, am waiting for the other one to show the vaguest hint of sleepiness now hmm

grin at amazon run by elves! That would be AWESOME grin

Loupee Fri 23-Nov-12 19:03:12

I should not have to justify why I buy things at the cheapest possible price. Me not buying will not make companies pay more tax. But then I worked for Boots, and didn't give 2 hoots about their tax escapades either.
Anyhoo, I will be in the 8pm club smile there a few things I would like, would I be considered terribly selfish if I blagged another pack of wipes? I do enjoy a good stockpile!

Piemistress Fri 23-Nov-12 19:04:21

You are ahead of me whispers, feeding DD now haven't even got DS in the bath yet!

Poppedout Fri 23-Nov-12 19:04:52

One DC in bed, feeding the other to sleep but he keeps opening one eye as if he KNOWS I am plotting more purchases. I wonder if DH has paid him to stay awake...

Loupee Fri 23-Nov-12 19:06:08

I wonder if Amazon is the modern day equivalent of Santa's workshop?
Kicking myself I bought a travel cot last week!

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 19:07:13

Like Argos according to Bill Bailey The pale, mythical wardens of the treasure. With the laminated book of dreams.

bagpuss Fri 23-Nov-12 19:07:31

popped dh does refer to them as father amazon grin.

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 19:07:51

X-posted. That was obviously (I hope) re the amazon elves.

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 19:08:24

double grin for Elves

<steps out of shower> not the slightest hint of grubbiness, but thanks for caring. smile

Now I need to get the DC's to bed before 8!

Elfontheshelfiswatchingyou Fri 23-Nov-12 19:11:17

Does it matter that the Kindle fire is not HD? DH wants one for Christmas and this is a much better price.

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 19:16:20

Well it's official. Even with orthotics sexy they're too big sad

Poppedout Fri 23-Nov-12 19:16:22

grin father amazon, love it!

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 19:17:51

8pm im aiming to get the Christmas lights! Mine are all too old for trunki. I wish i had a child young enough for the pig wheely bug!
Might get the ITNG DVDs only to sell on Ebay!

anklebitersmum Fri 23-Nov-12 19:18:09

Spiderman Spiderman grin

Poppedout Fri 23-Nov-12 19:18:32

Just had an email telling me my NYDJs will be delivered tomorrow. Hope they won't look too grubby wink

ClaimedByMe Fri 23-Nov-12 19:19:29

I got spiderman grin ds will love me for ever and ever!!

Loupee Fri 23-Nov-12 19:19:45

Hehe at father amazon, although it does bring up images of a priest for me!
To get free delivery at the book people I need to spend £15, I am currently at £14.99 with the Dr Seuss books, can anyone recommend anything?

bagpuss Fri 23-Nov-12 19:20:57

Elf, see further down, my dh went into waterstones at lunch time and compared them side by side. There wasn't much in it, but the hd does have a camera for Skype and more storage as well as the hd screen, the speakers are also different too.

At £99 it is a bit of a bargain I think, although my dh paid an extra £10 for the non advert version which has pushed the price up a bit.

It's ok Pie, the dc in bed is ill and virtually begged to go to bed sad The other one is still leaping round the bed like a monkey on speed hmm This is going to be a loooong evening..

SweetMingePie Fri 23-Nov-12 19:22:03

Got Spider-Man smile now just have to buy the Xbox to go with it. hmm

HoneyDragon Fri 23-Nov-12 19:22:45

I'm a British manufacturer and pay lot of corporation tax. Does that mean I can buy extra?

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 19:24:11

Loupee - try PANDP265 for TBP delivery.

I get back to for more bargains to find a bunfight-ish. (well 1 person trying to start one).

I think we'd all like companies to pay their fair share in Tax but I'm not stupid. They pay people very well to find all the loopholes and will continue to do so with GB's ridiculously complicated Tax laws/rules.

How many people do Amazon keep in jobs in the Uk? Thousands? From the bottom of the rung Picker to the Head of Payroll etc. Not to mention staff at Royal Mail, Yodel (yes they're shit but it's a job) and various other companies.

DangerousMouse Fri 23-Nov-12 19:27:12

I've got spiderman in my basket... For absolutely no reason at all!

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 19:37:43

It's a bit of a pain having so many start at the same time!

8pm is going to be carnage... I think I am going to be sensible and get nappies and a kindle smile

bagpuss Fri 23-Nov-12 19:45:47

I wish I had unlimited funds, I'd buy a wheelybug, the pony train, a brio train and a trunki - the dts would be in heaven!

Just one question... Is it only the size 4 nappies, or any size?

bagpuss Fri 23-Nov-12 19:46:30

Also the hot diamonds necklace for me smile.

ImpYCelyn Fri 23-Nov-12 19:47:09

I think there'll be size options.

Aspiemum2 Fri 23-Nov-12 19:47:31

Loupee, as well as the free delivery code mentioned earlier try walrus for 10% off

Loupee Fri 23-Nov-12 19:48:44

Thanks for that code Imp worked a treat!
