Amazon Black Friday Thread - Day 4!

(199 Posts)

Welcome to Thursday's Amazon bargain thread grin

Good morning! smile

Only 3 things on my list, unless they add more. The phillips hair clipper, The hunger games trilogy and Anthems 90s cd.

The bastards have put a trunki on, I only bought one last week for DS's birthday angry

Ooo, when is the hair clipper, DH needs a new one smile

bagpuss Thu 22-Nov-12 07:43:31

Hello, fellow bargain hunters!

Just had a quick look through, nothing really catching my eye, but might see if I can get one of the bath bomb sets later tonight as a gift for mil. Will of course be playing guess the discount for the rest of the day. Wonder what the chrome book will go for?

GaryBuseysTeeth Thu 22-Nov-12 07:46:32

Hello & Morning (my first post on these threads);

Nothing really catching my eye today.
May have a look into the Berghaus ladies paclite jacket, really want to get one of those massive trains on tracks toy they've had the last 2 days, of course they'll probably never have them again!

Whispers, phillips clippers start at 8am.

Loupee Thu 22-Nov-12 07:48:20

Good morning, and a big thanks to those who linked to the Dr Seuss books for me last night. Will definitely be getting them.
Have had a quick look, not too much I'm interested in yet. It's DS's jags today so might need to buy something later on to cheer us up ;)

SweetMingePie Thu 22-Nov-12 07:54:48

Morning!

Today I am after the nerf gun at 10:29 and the Christmas carol blu ray at 17:59. Might also see how much the trunki goes for.

The timex watch I ordered yesterday should come today. Glad it's today as its Dhs Christmas present and he is off tomorrow.

I've got DH the phillips clipper. He really needs it as he never has time to go to the barbers.

Hmm now I'm wondering if I need the crisp maker and mandoline. I have been wanting a mandoline but I usually use just a plate for making crisps in the microwave.

WineGless Thu 22-Nov-12 08:08:17

What time is the mandolin on? I feeling need one in my life

Kveta Thu 22-Nov-12 08:08:40

I'm not impressed with today's deals - didn't get anything yesterday either. hope it perks up tomorrow!

8.29 am WineGless

I know I'm sad but I'm missing the stuff they did last year. I'm sure they had loads of clues and better deals.

WineGless Thu 22-Nov-12 08:14:38

Thanks prattling

I'm the same as you- less clues and more crap

Marne Thu 22-Nov-12 08:21:38

Today could cost me a bit, wasn't going to buy anything today but dd has been asking for a nurf gun and i need smellies and chocs for presents, not much this morning that i want so will crack on with the house work.

I definitely miss the clues this year, that was really exciting last year sad

Have got the clippers in my basket, not sure whether to get them...

AnnaBegins Thu 22-Nov-12 08:36:20

The Hunger Games set is a bit of a con, amazon also have it available for £10 if you do a search, so they have bumped the price up to £20 in readiness for the deals. So Pratting I'd do a search for the lowest price before the deal, as I'm not sure it'll be great value...

Thanks Anna, but I had a proper look and realised that they're books, I thought they were dvds blush I have the books on my ipad.

whatkungfuthat Thu 22-Nov-12 08:40:05

Good Morning. Just got the clippers as DP dropped his and they are making a weird noise. Not much else today apart from possibly the Star Wars Scalextric for DS2. He already has loads of stuff for xmas but if its cheap enough I'll get it for his birthday in early March.

When I read the thread through I thought you were talking about a musical mandolin grin this from the woman who considered the wooden box cajon drum the other day

Yes, quite a few of these things will have been bumped up before the sale so that the discount looks better. Always best to do a search after something has gone into your basket in case it is any cheaper elsewhere.
I didn't get the clippers, DH didn't text me back.

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 08:42:28

AnnaBegins Thanks for pointing that out. I'm gonna do a quick comparison search on the items I'm looking at (Alan Partridge DVD, Hunger games [which I know you've mentioned], and the Bin Weevils thing [which seems expensive in the first place!])

HarderToKidnap Thu 22-Nov-12 08:47:01

Ooh I posted on the other thread, so will repost here - I'm looking at the C&E hand cream for a Secret Santa pressie, and the steam mop. Nothing else. It's a bit crap this year!

hurricanewyn Thu 22-Nov-12 08:47:24

The Hunger Games trilogy is £7.99 in the Works at the mo.

whatkungfuthat Thu 22-Nov-12 08:47:39

Play.com are doing the Monty Python boxset at £43 compared to £70 currently on amazon so it will be interesting to see what they reduce it down to.

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 08:49:34

hurricanewyn Thanks for posting that! smile

That is interesting, kungfu, I bought that set last year for DH, think it was about £25 from Tesco. He's still not bloody watched any of it hmm

SantasComingFace Thu 22-Nov-12 08:52:55

I quite fancy the Harry Potter box set.

Nothing else catching my eye today

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 08:56:57

First time I've followed the Black Friday event, and I'm disappointed. Last day tomorrow, wonder if they will have anything worth getting excited about?

When Amazon said that in previous years they had games consoles at £50 and latest CDs at £1, I was shock must check this out. However, feels like I've wasted my time with this.

Grumble over grin

SoupDragon Thu 22-Nov-12 08:57:37

I am idly toying with the idea of trying for the PS3 but, apart from that, nothing til the dog hamper at 6pm grin

Which is good as I need to clear out my bedroom in preparation for my new mattress which arrives tomorrow smile

ShoopShoop Thu 22-Nov-12 08:58:31

Morning!

I know whispers - I got a Trunki last week for DD. Did you get yours from Zulily? I'm going to be really annoyed if it's cheaper on Amazon!!

Nothing else really catching my eye today - although I thought that yesterday and somehow ended up with a Kipling bag blush.

It finishes on Sunday this year. More time for me to waste hmm

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 09:08:04

Pratting I thought Sat and Sun were days when they will re-list certain items sold this week, I think they called it a "re-loaded" weekend??

Ah, ffs, was there one on zulily?! Nope, I got the gruffalo one from amazon for £30. Only a couple of weeks til his birthday so I didn't want to leave it too long. Go on, depress me, how much did you get it for?

mirpuppet Thu 22-Nov-12 09:11:15

Thanks for the tips -- I am annoyed as they have definately bumped up prices to make it look like it is a big discount but if you look elsewhere the "black friday price" is around what the item should sell for.

I haven't purchased anything yet.

Oh right Soggy, thanks for letting me know smile

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 09:14:35

mirpuppet thats worth pointing out! I also haven't bought anything yet.

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 09:16:50

Pratting I'm sure I read that in the pre-Black Friday info on Amazon, but I can't find it now! It says that it runs to Sunday, but like I said, I think there won't be any new items at the weekend. I guess they will list what they havent sold? Don't hold me to it though, don't want anyone to miss a bargain!

Guess that means having to have a look at the weekend too. You know, just in case wink

grin

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 09:22:28

Aha, found it! "Missed deals during the week? You can grab them again over the 'Black Friday Reloaded' weekend on November 24 and 25" (taken from Amazon.co.uk)

Tortoise Thu 22-Nov-12 09:25:09

Link added to yesterdays thread.
Still can't see much of interest today. Ds1 wants the Mic for making utube vids on pc.

Quick question. To buy do you need to actually be in the item iyswim or just on the list of items page?

ShoopShoop Thu 22-Nov-12 09:36:28

Sorry whispers! I got the Penelope Princess one for £23 I won't tell you about the additional 20% Mumsnet discount I got

I did really like the Gruffalo one though but was too tight to get it grin

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 09:39:06

gregssausageroll If I've understood you right, you click "add to basket" on the Black Friday deals list when the deal goes live.

whatkungfuthat Thu 22-Nov-12 09:40:09

gregs you can click 'add to basket' on the list that goes from left to right without actually clicking on the item to make it bigger iyswim?

Thanks for adding the link, Tortoise smile

Shoop - you can get a mumsnet discount with zulily?! Why does nobody tell me these things?! It's ok, he would have quite liked the bee one today (or the princess one tbh!) but he has seen them before and really was enthralled with the gruffalo one, so I am glad I got him that one smile

chocolateicecream Thu 22-Nov-12 09:48:43

Nothing really catches my eye today, if I bought anything then it would be just for the sake of it, so that's not really a bargain.

Yep brill. Thanks both. Nothing I want today. Well nothing we need but still holding out for a kindle fire and a kitchen aid!

ImpYCelyn Thu 22-Nov-12 10:02:29

Well I have NCIS and Harry Potter in the basket. I do love a bit of Gibbs when I'm bored... But I already have HP on normal DVD, are the bluerays worth rebuying it for?

Would love a Trunki for DH, so £23 is the price to beat...

Loueytb3 Thu 22-Nov-12 10:03:47

Got my eye on the Lego Star Wars book set but having totted up the books individually on Amazon, you can get all 4 for less than £31 if you buy them separately vs the current bumped up price of £59 for the set.

So it will have to come down to well below £30 for me to bother.

Also got my eye on the star wars scalextric but need DH to say yay or nay and he's not responding to emails

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 10:14:42

Kindle Fire I think will be listed tomorrow.

Very interesting with so many of you saying that you are finding the items at lower prices elsewhere, including Amazon itself!

Savvy shoppers indeed....me likely grin wink

ImpYCelyn Thu 22-Nov-12 10:20:17

Ditched HP and got Gibbs

ShoopShoop Thu 22-Nov-12 10:28:01

Whispers - I think the Mumsnet / Zulily discount code has recently changed to 20MUMSNE15 - but it's a one time only code so save it for a nice big order! I got the code thanks to the lovely Reastie over on the bargainous christmas present code thread.

Imp - unfortunately I don't think Zulily have the Trunkis any more, as they are only on for a couple of days and then get taken off the site. But if you're not in a rush for one, they do come back to Zulily faily regularly grin Hope that helps?!

But I'd grab a bee one if the price gets down to around the £20 mark as you can get free postage on Amazon and it's £3.50 on Zulily!

SweetMingePie Thu 22-Nov-12 10:35:09

Got the nerf gun smile bargain at £12.00 so pleased with that.

Do I want a trunki?

anklebitersmum Thu 22-Nov-12 10:37:58

anyone tell me how to get deals to update without f5 ing? counting down and then it doesn't swop to deal button sad ideas?

iseenodust Thu 22-Nov-12 10:41:53

Yeah got the Nerf thingy and seems like a good price.
The Scalextric is a good price (checked against Toys R Us, Argos) but more than I can justify on DN.

Arithmeticulous Thu 22-Nov-12 10:44:25

Even I would be hard pressed to buy anything today hmm

BlueGuinefort Thu 22-Nov-12 11:05:17

Well, my first Black Friday bargain has turned into a bit of a let down. I got DH these boots and they don't fit his stupid big feet.

They are a 10 in Old West Molasses and can't be exchanged for another size at the reduced price (I've checked with Amazon) sad

So, if anyone would like them for £49.99 plus P+P, I'd rather another MNetter got a bargain, than send them back to Amazon so they can sell them for £95!

Any takers? <<hopeful>>

Loupee Thu 22-Nov-12 11:12:21

blue would you say they are a true to size 10?

BlueGuinefort Thu 22-Nov-12 11:13:35

Well, it's hard to say because DH sometimes takes a size 10 and sometimes an 11. I'll go ask him (he's on the phone, so I may take a while)...

Marne Thu 22-Nov-12 11:17:11

I didn't buy the nurf, decided i had already bought dd enough so had to control myself and stick to whats on my list, am now waiting to get some of the bath bombs (for dd2's TA) and maybe the hand creams for my mum, also waiting for the black magic hamper.

A bit disapointed with whats on there today (and the past few days), not as good as last year unless the best is still to come.

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 11:21:14

Blue hope you get someone who wants to buy them

Marne...with only one day left, I'm losing hope of any amazing deals.

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 11:23:39

Is it me, or do their seem to be some odd items listed...like they are trying to get rid of stock, rather than give a good discount on a good item?

For example, coming up is a pack of 12 Vita Coco 100% Natural Coconut Water hmm

BlueGuinefort Thu 22-Nov-12 11:24:15

Oh, I was so excited. DH needed some new boots. There was some lightning deal boots. DH liked the boots. I got the deal. Twas like a dream come true. Pah!

(He's still on the phone, Marne)

bdaonion Thu 22-Nov-12 11:27:17

I have the same question as anklebitersmum. Does the screen automatically update with F5? I watch the time countdown and then panic when the Add to Basket doesn't come up, refresh and waste precious time scrolling to the item again. Do I need to be more patient?

magentastardust Thu 22-Nov-12 11:27:21

The hunger games trilogy is cheaper on the book people site if that helps anyone?

bdaonion Thu 22-Nov-12 11:28:01

*automatically update WITHOUT F5?

ImpYCelyn Thu 22-Nov-12 11:28:25

Thanks Shoop I'll keep an eye on the bee, and then check Zulily if it's not a good deal.

Marne Thu 22-Nov-12 11:28:56

I agree Nosoggy, lots of odd items, will be interesting to see if the coconut water sells fast smile, had to laught at the dog DNA tester kit on monday too (how many people would want to do a dna test on their dog?), also disapointed with what books and dvd box sets are on there (a load of rubbish).

ImpYCelyn Thu 22-Nov-12 11:29:10

bdaonion - don't refresh, sometimes the "Add to basket" button is really slow to appear, but it will come!

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 11:30:42

bdaonion Using a laptop here. I have the page on the upcoming deals with the counter conting down (obviously hmm). When it goes down to zero, it might take a few seconds, but then the deal appears with the "add to basket" button. I do not have to refresh/F5...does this automatically.

Hth

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 11:33:36

Marne Agree with you too. Wouldn't say that there have been any "must-have" items listed, as Amazon would have us believe.

Coconut milk, dog dna test, bic pens for her (wt..??!), brita water filters....c'mon!

So far this week, only been kinda interested in one item.

Better off trawling the internet and shops for better deals imo.

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 11:34:23

Half the coconut milk has gone, what do I know! hmm grin lol

bdaonion Thu 22-Nov-12 11:34:44

Thank you.

anklebitersmum Thu 22-Nov-12 11:35:13

cheers guys. was gutted I missed the computer this morning refreshing sad Must be more patient clearly (and plug ethernet cable in when really keen) wink

Marne Thu 22-Nov-12 11:36:50

I thought there would be Kitchen aids and big tubs of lego like last year sad

Does seem like they are just selling the stuff they cant get rid of. Fingers crossed there will be better things tomorrow.

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 11:41:07

Hoping they will have the book "Pep Guardiola : Another Way of Winning" by Guillem Balague on tomorrow.

Never heard of it until it appeared on Dads Christmas list, here's hoping! lol

BlueGuinefort Thu 22-Nov-12 11:41:59

Marne, DH says yes, he does think they are a true size 10 as he's usually a 10.5. He told me to get a 10 because he assumed because they are boots they'd be 'big and a bit flappy' hmm

Sorry Blue, I did just have to snigger at your DH there grin

I was really hoping for big boxes of Lego this year too sad And I loved the mystery things last year, was fun trying to guess.

Sorry, Shoop, thanks for the code smile

BeedleTheBard Thu 22-Nov-12 11:56:19

I agree that its been a bit rubbish this year, I thought yesterday was just a mid week dip, but then I saw that the olympic games books have made yet another appearance today hmm

ChablisLover Thu 22-Nov-12 12:01:32

I,m after the crocs at 3:58 i think

for dh i might add

does anyone know what they went for the other day?

SuperScribbler Thu 22-Nov-12 12:03:56

I wasn't going to buy anything today, but suddenly I'm paying for a Nerf that DS hasn't even asked for!

AllIWant85 Thu 22-Nov-12 12:15:36

I need help! Or someone to ban me from Amazon! grin

I've bought a watch, a scooter, a Lovefilm subscription and god knows what else over the last few days! None of it needed as I have done my Christmas shopping! hmm

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 12:18:03

AllIWant85....sit on your hands? Or step away from the internet!

grin

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 12:19:32

Just thought, I signed up to Amazon Prime for this (the free trial)...doesn't look like I'm going to use it yet!

AllIWant85 Thu 22-Nov-12 12:25:49

I can't possibly leave the internet.... I'd have to do some housework then! smile

LarkinSky Thu 22-Nov-12 12:26:15

I agree re stock clearance comments, but a dog DNA test is just what I need! (My family dog was originally a street dog in east Africa and we always joke he is part goat or something). I wonder if it sold out?

Marne Thu 22-Nov-12 12:30:06

lol, i could do with the dna test too but i dont think i could justify paying for it (would love to know if my dog is who her parers say she is), maybe we should just take them on Jeremy Kyle?

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 12:40:01

lol AllIWant85 grin

I'm sure that there are some items that most see as odd, but some will find a use or need for. The dog DNA test did make me laugh though, and yes made me think of dear Jeremy Kyle! <says his name through gritted teeth> grin

However, I thought the point of Black Friday was big discounts on popular items with the thought of getting a bargain for Christmas.

Ah well....Happy Thanksgiving!

grin

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 12:41:53

Hasn't the Victoria Pendleton book appeared 3 times now this week?

Sorry for all the moans!

ClaimedByMe Thu 22-Nov-12 12:45:49

I need to stay focused and get the goal at 7.15, ds Xmas list is a ball, goalie gloves and a goal, I have the other 2 just need a goal (which I swear wasn't on earlier)

How does the love film thing work?

AllIWant85 Thu 22-Nov-12 12:53:59

Yes that book keeps coming back. I nearly bought one just because it keeps popping up (can you see the extent of my problem! grin )

The Lovefilm thing was 6 months for £15.98. They send you a 6 month gift voucher, you can use it for the postal Lovefilm or Lovefilm instant.

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 13:04:19

Just tried 3 items which are apparently 100% claimed. All three now in my basket! Wasn't added to a waiting list. hmm Not that I want them, purely interested bored grin

AllIWant85 Thu 22-Nov-12 13:06:16

Oooh I've not tried that!! smile

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 13:11:20

At the moment I have a TV, surround system and Sat Nav in my basket. I don't own a car grin Just had a debate with DP that it should work if you walk down the road rather than drive...or I could always direct the bus driver wink

ImpYCelyn Thu 22-Nov-12 13:11:52

What's the point in having timings for the deals if they just relist it all when it doesn't sell? They might as well just make it all available at once and then knock stuff off once it's sold out.

I quite fancy some of the WOW toys coming up later.

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 13:15:05

ImpYCelyn marketing techniques. Makes you think the item is low in quantity, or by having a timer, you make a rash decision as you don't want to pay the higher price.

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 13:15:29

Btw, I do agree with you smile

BeedleTheBard Thu 22-Nov-12 13:17:01

soggy I just tried claiming some "100% claimed" items too, and got them straight away. Do you think they're trying to make us think that we're missing out on some bargains?

AllIWant85 Thu 22-Nov-12 13:17:06

I can confirm that SatNavs will work if you are on foot! smile

BeedleTheBard Thu 22-Nov-12 13:17:57

I am also rather slow at typing grin

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 13:19:48

Beedle Yep!

AllIWant85 lol grin

bagpuss Thu 22-Nov-12 13:20:35

My kipling bag has arrived. It is teeny tiny so will be given to 10 yo dd1 rather than kept by me. Not sure how much of a bargain it was but a quick google search suggests the only other website that has it are charging £30 so at £15 it was still a good deal. I know dd1 will love it as her friend has one. The organisation pockets inside are really good too smile.

I haven't bought anything today - might go for some colouring pencils and also the bath bomb set later if I can remember to be in front of the computer at the right time. I have already done the google search to check the prices - will only order if they are real bargains!

The chromebook went for a good price today - it is a shame that ds1 didn't fancy spending his birthday money on it, but maybe he is more sensible than me grin.

iseenodust Thu 22-Nov-12 13:29:24

You can get some items when 100% claimed but not at the black friday price - check the numbers !

ImpYCelyn Thu 22-Nov-12 13:32:01

Oh wow. I just tried claiming everything that's sold out and all bar 2 went straight to basket!

Oh, and one of those just became available!

ClaimedByMe Thu 22-Nov-12 13:34:21

My doggie DNA kit arrived, doggie is not impressed!

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 13:35:53

iseenodust I'm getting them in my basket at the Black Friday price...still have to checkout within 15 mins if I want it.

bagpuss Thu 22-Nov-12 13:40:45

I had that yesterday with one of the kipling bags. I went to add myself to the wait list and it went straight into my basket with the timer and everything. I thought I was just lucky!

ImpYCelyn Thu 22-Nov-12 13:42:01

Well, that explains why the Leapster Explorer are there - a new model has just come out. I know it's obvious Amazon want to clear stock, but I still think it's a bit sad that they can't include a small number of new releases - stuff we'd really want to fight for grin

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 13:51:28

Exactly Imp if we really had to fight for it, would add to the experience grin

mirpuppet Thu 22-Nov-12 13:52:51

I've been getting most of the 100% claim at the black friday price.

Marne Thu 22-Nov-12 14:17:28

I got the hand cream but then realised it has 'rose water' which my mum will hate (will have to give it to someone else instead). Thats the only thing i have bought today. Am tempted to get the dog a dog bed but not sure if she likes disney princess grin

I can't believe all of the disney dog cushions are 100% claimed! shock

ariadneoliver Thu 22-Nov-12 14:21:08

I really should learn my lesson and not get sucked into this every year. Tomorrow at work I should have arriving; earrings (not that I needed them) some chilli flavoured liquorice (temporary insanity) and a box of Sculptress meal bars which at least will be useful. grin

hmc Thu 22-Nov-12 14:27:03

Snort at chilli flavoured liquorice!

I'm not much better, today I have ordered the Lola Rose bracelet, Andy warhol gun motif glossy metal ballpoint pen, the crabtree and evelyn hand therapy, the Monty Python box set (which sold out in 5 minutes!) and a Dog hair clipper!

Arithmeticulous Thu 22-Nov-12 14:28:11

I presume things are coming back in because I people are cancelling orders once they have had time to reconsider - same reason why you can be 500th on a waitlist and then suddenly get the item grin

I think I would have cancelled the Kipling bag but it was dispatched really quickly confused

hmc Thu 22-Nov-12 14:29:42

I am properly excited during the last few minutes when the clock ticks down and then goes to:
Hrs:00 Mins:00 Secs:00
Then there is a pregnat pause where time stands still momentarily before the 'Add to Basket' sign pops up

Marne Thu 22-Nov-12 14:30:36

ok, who's dog is going to be sleeping on a disney bed? not mine, £20 for a dog bed is tooo much, my dog can stick to her manky fleece blanket smile, can believe how fast they sold out shock.

ariadneoliver Thu 22-Nov-12 14:34:23

hmc I hope you actually have a dog. grin

Indith Thu 22-Nov-12 14:37:12

Oooh I just had a quick look at amazon and I've got one of the lego sets, 2 sticker books plus 2 brickmaster sets for £20.49 so the next 4 parties ds1 gets invited to are sorted for presents! Can't believe thsoe lego sets are not selling out they are a huge bargain.

ImpYCelyn Thu 22-Nov-12 14:38:28

I find that I really want one of those Berghaus rucksacks. But I don't camp or walk confused Amazon's marketing team must have sold their souls...

ImpYCelyn Thu 22-Nov-12 14:39:58

BTW for people who were looking at books - The Book People has 10% off today and tomorrow. And you can combine codes, so if you find free P&P you can use that too.

hmc Thu 22-Nov-12 14:55:13

Ha ha Ariadne - yes I do, an exceptionally hairy one grin

hmc Thu 22-Nov-12 14:56:21

Agree with you Marne about the Disney themed Dogs beds - uber tacky

iseenodust Thu 22-Nov-12 15:01:48

Interesting on the prices after 100 % claimed - not my experience but that was only 1 item so shall watch.

hmm at disney dog beds

anklebitersmum Thu 22-Nov-12 15:08:02

The dog would have to fight the 3yr old for anything Toy Story, dog bed or no grin

Loueytb3 Thu 22-Nov-12 16:23:29

A friend has just told me that the nike sportswatch is up at 8pm. Its on my Christmas list. Really hope it is heavily discounted <crosses fingers>

Tortoise Thu 22-Nov-12 16:37:35

All the items I want will end while I'm out with DDs at gymnastics. I can't remember if I can get a mobile internet signal in there. sad

insanityscratching Thu 22-Nov-12 16:49:53

I bought the critter track for dd's hamster after she decided last night that Father Christmas would bring Cutie a present too hmm Now looking for a stocking with treats in.
Hunger Games trilogy 99p here.

ImpYCelyn Thu 22-Nov-12 17:13:15

Now I'm trying to think of someone I could buy Hunger Games for...

TaggieCampbellBlackFriday Thu 22-Nov-12 17:17:41

I'mHere!

Bloody work getting in the wsy.

Lots of stuff i need at 6ish.

DDs paella pan arrived today. That'll be interesting to wrap grin

TaggieCampbellBlackFriday Thu 22-Nov-12 17:19:24

I wanted a princess dog bed for big old stiff boy. But not for £20.

ImpYCelyn Thu 22-Nov-12 17:20:18

I wish they'd put some audio books on.

ImpYCelyn Thu 22-Nov-12 17:26:58

Woot! I got an Ice watch and my £10 fashion voucher worked. It's the blue one up now.

I was hoping Anthems 90s would be about a fiver. Not going to get it.

SweetMingePie Thu 22-Nov-12 17:45:59

There is a Meep tablet coming up, normally £150 so let's see what the discount is. Bet it's a fiver off or something.

ImpYCelyn Thu 22-Nov-12 17:55:00

Right I want the trunki and the train - which one is likely to sell out first?

Marne Thu 22-Nov-12 17:58:46

Trunki will sell out first, we have the same trunki and its fab smile, hope you manage to get both.

FYI- Kenwood chef classic has 108 off, a good alternative for those that want a kitchen aid.

Marne Thu 22-Nov-12 18:00:41

We sat here waiting for the Harry Potter sound track thing (dd1 wanted it), what a waste of time, no way i was paying that, was shocked that it sold out so fast. I'm now waiting for the pencils, bath bombs and the smellies in a case.

ImpYCelyn Thu 22-Nov-12 18:05:06

Both in the basket. £22.50 is pretty good for the trunki right?

HoneyDragon Thu 22-Nov-12 18:07:42

So I sat down to see what price the bloody dog stocking was. I could have purchased it for that price this morning! They didn't reduce it confused

Marne Thu 22-Nov-12 18:09:05

£9 for some pencils shock i think not.

Marne Thu 22-Nov-12 18:10:00

Trunki is worth it, ours is a part of our family grin.

bagpuss Thu 22-Nov-12 18:11:00

I have the bath bombs at last. That's a present for mil sorted now. Not going to bother with anything else today, will await kindle deals tomorrow smile.

ImpYCelyn Thu 22-Nov-12 18:12:31

Thanks Marne, I went ahead with it grin and the bloody annoying train that I'll regret by 7.30am on Christmas Day hmm grin

Elfontheshelfiswatchingyou Thu 22-Nov-12 18:15:04

Is it very wrong to hope that my village is cut off by flooding tomorrow so I can stay home and try for a kindle? Just the roads, no-one's houses or anything.

TaggieCampbellBlackFriday Thu 22-Nov-12 18:15:29

Beer notebook and bath bombs.

I must not buy a kindle fire I must not buy a kindle fire I must not buy a kindle fire

TaggieCampbellBlackFriday Thu 22-Nov-12 18:17:02

Not at all elf. I was hoping the same but damn the hill i live at the top of.

Marne Thu 22-Nov-12 18:17:04

Elf- our village is almost cut off by floods, dd2 has hospital tomorrow (will take most of the day) so in a way i hope we have more rain.

Arithmeticulous Thu 22-Nov-12 18:33:09

I keep buying Gareth Malone and then putting him back again hmm Do I need him?

I bought a table lamp on Monday. It arrived today.

We're going to need a bigger table.

Loupee Thu 22-Nov-12 18:59:59

imp thanks for heads up on the Ice watch, got it for £24, happy with that. It is actually the only thing that I have bought today. If it is too chunky for my wrist I'll probably put it in with my sisters Christmas.
I think Tuesday was the best for me, volume wise! But happy with the discounts on the GHD's and the Tassimo machine, I would have paid full price for these if they hadn't come up in the deals.
I'm another one interested in seeing what the Kindle Fires do tomorrow, I hope it's the HD one.

Goodness, just checked in, I'm surprised the trunkis haven't gone faster, I would have got one if I hadn't already hmm

Have got the go ahead to get the kindle fire if it's £100 tomorrow, for FIL smile

Tortoise Thu 22-Nov-12 19:01:27

I haven't bought anything today. Would have liked the ice watch with £10 discount but all gone!
Hope better deals tomorrow.

Do I need a kindle fire if I have the kindle app on my ipad? What does the kindle fire do?

SweetMingePie Thu 22-Nov-12 19:03:08

Prattling, you do not need a kindle fire if you have an iPad.mwe have both in this household and I hate the kindle fire, much prefer my ipad.

Ok cool thanks. DH will be very happy with that answer grin

ShoopShoop Thu 22-Nov-12 19:07:40

Imp sounds like you got a good price for the Trunki. With free delivery that's a good bargain grin

Loupee Thu 22-Nov-12 19:07:53

I think DH would like a kindle fire, he's going to Afghan in March and has other trips way, so would be useful to him, and not as expensive as the iPad in case anything happens to it!

I got the smart tribe for DS2's birthday in February grin. So I'm happy with that! Yesterday was the best day for us as we got loads of Christmas stuff and a birthday gift for me Hopefully tomorrow will be good, I want a Kindle Fire but don't think I could stretch to it sad

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 19:14:02

insanityscratching Thanks for the link for the Hunger Games @99p....but with £4.99 p&p, takes away from the amazing discount!

ClaimedByMe Thu 22-Nov-12 19:18:01

I got the goal for DS, hope tomorrow isnt a dissapointment!

OhCobblers Thu 22-Nov-12 19:25:48

From your experience what kind of "big" bargains should there be tomorrow?

SweetMingePie Thu 22-Nov-12 19:28:39

Kindle fires are £109 at the car phone warehouse, so hats the price amazon need to beat tomorrow.

Apple online are meant to be having a sale tomorrow as well, apparently 10% off iPads, but don't quote me on that.

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 19:30:32

OhCobblers Good question....I'm interested in answers to that too. Black Friday virgin here! All I know is that there will be a Kindle Fire deal tomorrow.

insanityscratching Thu 22-Nov-12 19:34:17

My tip would be to watch the site for the daily deal and buy the Hunger Games at the same time tbh (although even with postage they are cheaper than the Amazon deal) I bought them when three Enid Blyton books were 3p and a set of board books as a free gift so 10 books for £6.

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 19:36:21

insanityscratching Good tip. I'll bookmark the site wink, thanks

ImpYCelyn Thu 22-Nov-12 19:36:30

Well I've just been through my orders and cancelled a fair few, about £100 worth I think. I grabbed toys when I could, so I've triaged them now. And DH told me that much as he loves NCIS he doesn't like rewatching episodes, so that went too.

So, hopefully I've economised enough for a Kindle tomorrow. I hope it's the Paperwhite!

thegreylady Thu 22-Nov-12 19:44:17

Damn I missed the ps3 sad
Now I want a new water filter jug [8.29].No matter how quickly I consider things have got to 'waitlist' status before I click sad

TaggieCampbellBlackFriday Thu 22-Nov-12 20:13:25

I want pretty diamond earrings.

bagpuss Thu 22-Nov-12 20:17:45

Me too sad dh will never buy them though

Me three sad

I got the filter jug hmm

TaggieCampbellBlackFriday Thu 22-Nov-12 20:41:17

Lucky. Ish.

I resisted the earrings.

No pretty boots and no pretty sparkly earrings sad

SlightlySuperiorPeasant Thu 22-Nov-12 20:44:28

I haven't seen anything I want today. I'll be interested in the Kindle tomorrow though. I am hoping that it will be a hefty discount as once you've got it it's a money-spinner for Amazin anyway.

Whispers I took DS to Italy this summer with his Gruffalo Trunki. It was like a tantrum machine at Pisa: "Mamma, IO vorrei uno di quelloooooooo!" and several fellow passengers said they would be getting one for their DC while they were in the UK. Excellent buy.

WeWereHereFirst how much did you pay for the Smart Trike? I got one in the Black Friday week last year for £64.99, then looked again a week later and the same model was £59.99. I was not impressed angry

HoneyDragon Thu 22-Nov-12 20:47:06

I bought my first Lightening Deal today

<<drum roll>>

Golf Balls for my Dad grin

I have birthday vouchers supposedly to spend on me too .... Oh dear.

TaggieCampbellBlackFriday Thu 22-Nov-12 20:52:33

Congratulations honey. You have popped your black friday cherry.

HoneyDragon Thu 22-Nov-12 20:57:55

It doesn't feel as good as the last few years sad

It doesn't sad I really hope there's some decent stuff on tomorrow preferably before 5ish before I go out

That's good to know, slightly smile

I know DS will love it, if he stays with my in laws, he is very protective of 'his' suitcase even though it is just a little old battered one of mine! So he will be overjoyed with his very own smile Plus it is a 'big' present without it being another toy to add to the pile of toys he never plays with hmm

It is for his third birthday, btw smile

It is for his third birthday, btw smile

Argh! Sorry about that!

Aspiemum2 Thu 22-Nov-12 22:05:25

Today was crap sad. Hope there are some better bargains tomorrow, a nice useful one like batteries would be good!

SlightlySuperiorPeasant It was £35, we did a quick Google and it was between £45-£60 so it was a bargain for us. Are they any good? I like that they're pretty! blush

frazzled74 Thu 22-Nov-12 22:26:08

kindle fire £99 on amazon now, says its a black friday deal.

Ooo, thanks frazzled. See you all tomorrow, bright and early grin

TaggieCampbellBlackFriday Thu 22-Nov-12 22:53:45

I. Must. Not. Buy. A. Kindle. Fire

I. Do. Not. Need. A. Kindle. Fire

Londonista1975 Thu 22-Nov-12 22:58:51

I'm gutted I missed the Harry Potter blu rays today.

Probably a stupid question, but do any of you experienced Black Friday-ers predict that MacBooks will be on there?

HoneyDragon Thu 22-Nov-12 23:07:25

<<sits on Taggie>>

Oh. Fuck. Now who's going to stop me?

<<don't need kindle. Must not buy kindle. Don't need kindle....>>

NoSoggyBottoms Thu 22-Nov-12 23:52:05

So that's it? The Kindle offer has already been released....£30 off? Sorry, but what a let down. Yes, it's money off...but Amazon seemed to be hyping it up as the 'big deal' on Friday, and we don't even get the excitement of a lightning deal!

Guess they just want to sell as many as possible throughout the day.

Well, in another 10 mins we get to see what else will be up for grabs tomorrow. Here's hoping for some goodies!

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 00:02:54

Ok, I make it gone midnight now but I can't view tomorrows items. Can anyone else? I stayed up to have a look before bed! blush idiot

NoSoggyBottoms Fri 23-Nov-12 00:03:44

Never mind, I see them now...cue another blush

grin

Tortoise Fri 23-Nov-12 00:51:46

I may get some jelly beans tomorrow. The 600g jar is normally cheaper than the 400g tube hmm.

Morning! What a 'mare I've had already. Was in bed being lovely looking for the best deals on xbox's (sp?) on the ipad for DH. I put a bundle- an xbox with 2 games and another game for £20 instead of £42 and to do a price comparison, put an xbox on its own with the game. Decided it was only a bit more to have the one with 2 extra games. So, then pressed order to realise I still had the other xbox and a duplicate of the game in! £450 please. Erm no. Luckily I noticed it in my sleepy haze and cancelled it. Phew! I'd have been in trouble then.

SlightlySuperiorPeasant Fri 23-Nov-12 07:41:23

We're over here!

Good job you spotted it!

hmc Fri 23-Nov-12 16:59:24

Today I have bought socks confused - i know not why....a boys tikkers watch for half price, and two lego sets one at around £10 discount and the other at allegedly £40 discount. Haven't seen a lot to tempt me but that is just as well as I have spent a fortune over the past three days, even if it was all discounted!
