milk Mon 19-Nov-12 07:41:27

Remeber to check

I'm ready and waiting grin

Whoop I got the signed Michael Mcintyre dvd smile

Less of a whoop for the war dvd I got for DH though grin

Scootergrrrl Mon 19-Nov-12 08:12:48

Both my children are off school today after throwing up half the night. I think I'll take advantage of our house-boundness by doing all my Christmas shopping on the Black Friday deals today. I'm sure someone will want Tommee Tippee bottles.... grin

Where are the deals? I'm tired and can't figure it out. confused

Click onto Todays Deals at the top. I want to know what the Kindle Fire offer will be on Friday. Got the Harry Potter boxset smile

Scootergrrrl Mon 19-Nov-12 08:20:25

Top right of the home screen - it says Black Friday deals week.

I really would love an xbox to be on there sometime this week. I've made a list of the stuff I'd like to get today blush Next up is the Le Creuset casserole dish (only if it's a good deal though)

I've been so excited for this week blush got loads of fab deals last year. I've set the laptop and the ipad on one half of the table, and on the other half, I will wrap all the presents I've already got, whilst I'm waiting for the stuff I'd like. I'm organised grin or daft.

Kveta Mon 19-Nov-12 08:30:19

I'm watching the cameras, mine is nearly dead, so tempted to get one for DH to give me for christmas!

Hmm I'm only going to be looking at the Melissa & Doug stuff today. Not until 5pm. Oooo maybe the baby monitor too, best make a note of the time!

Oooh, I'm waiting for the Le Creuset too! I need a watch too but not keen on todays selection.

TaggieCampbellBlack Mon 19-Nov-12 08:34:41

I adore black friday.

But need to sleep (nights).

Just a little looksy first...

TaggieCampbellBlack Mon 19-Nov-12 08:51:13

I'm never going to be able to sleep.

I so need a steam mop.

Pascha Mon 19-Nov-12 08:54:13

I'm umming and ahhing between the two steam mop things. I can't afford either but I might be able to swing one as a christmas present from DH if its a good deal. Nothing else interesting to me yet...

I need a steam mop too.

ratbagcatbag Mon 19-Nov-12 09:00:00

Hang on - someone please explain what I do? when I click the link, do I need to sign in?? ARGH Help - so jealous of all this talk of deals and don't know how to get them sad

I will share wine or [tea] for help ;)

Pascha Mon 19-Nov-12 09:00:39

20% off ain't doing it for me.

Ooo, this was great last year, I'm going to be addicted all week again blush

Scootergrrrl Mon 19-Nov-12 09:03:19

ratbag Just sign into your Amazon account before you start shopping and it should be fairly straightforward. Click on the deal link an it'll put it straight into your basket but you only have about 15 minutes to check out.

I'm going to try and get the other steam mop, I think.

Now waiting 'til 11 for the Canon camera.

TaggieCampbellBlack Mon 19-Nov-12 09:04:37

Ratbag. Sign in to your amazon.

Go to the black friday page.

Click through the days deals on the left right arrows.

Make a list of stuff you must have.

Wait till the timer counts down to zero.

Click click click. Fastest fingers win.

If you get it it goes in to your basket for 15 minutes. If you decide you don't want it you can delete the order.

Have fun!!!!

It is addictive.

TaggieCampbellBlack Mon 19-Nov-12 09:05:23

I never getting to sleep.

Cat toy at 2.14 grin

Am I remembering rightly, that last year they sneakily added things to the deals that weren't already there? Or did I dream that? confused

I want the cat toy too Taggie. Going to be bankrupt by the end of the week grin

AudrinaAdare Mon 19-Nov-12 09:08:35

I am so tempted by the PURE Twilight radio / alarm but as DH keeps pointing out - we have our son to wake us up.

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 09:11:27

Tbh, I'm a little disappointed by the deals today...not only by whats on offer but also the discounts given. Am I being greedy? Was expecting to be shock but I'm more hmm

Hoping to find something by the end of the week!

I seem to think it got better towards the end of the week last year, if I remember rightly. Though don't hold me too it grin

TaggieCampbellBlack Mon 19-Nov-12 09:15:32

The vax mop is £50 in argos. Might wake up for it.

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 09:15:55

Yeah I'm hoping that they are saving the shock deals for later on this week.

Amazon Black Friday virgin here grin

Hmm, just had a look through, not very much inspiring. I did buy the Melissa and doug beads last week though angry I looked in the toys category and then browsed through it all and there were some toys that didn't appear in the toys category confused

Pascha Mon 19-Nov-12 09:18:39

The vax mop is currently 49.97 so if it drops below £40 I might consider it.

They had a kitchenaid last year. I can't remember the exact price, but I think it was about £100ish shock. I would have got one, but I didn't want a white one nothing to do with my fat fingers being to slow. Am getting a pink one from Selfridges next month, unless my wish comes true and it's on Black Friday for £20 grin

You know when you're on Ebay when you're in the final seconds of something you really want. Feeling excited, nervous, heart racing and adrenalin pumping no? just me?! that's how I feel all week when it's Black Friday! Even when there's nothing I want confused grin

Pascha Mon 19-Nov-12 09:22:45

See, I would have bought the white one and sold it again for a profit.

Nothing I want today. sad loved this last year!

ratbagcatbag Mon 19-Nov-12 09:29:23

Ok will log on. I'm at work so I'm going to have to stealth black Friday it smile I have no doubt I'll be back in two mins for assistance grin

Just got an Anglepoise lamp for DH's new study for £50. Very bargainous and he'll be happy as long as he can deal with the fact that its powder blue. If not, I'll have it!

That's his birthday sorted. Phew.

ImpYCelyn Mon 19-Nov-12 09:40:51

I got the Le Creuset! We're going to replace our gas hob with induction and some none of my pans will work, so it's a good excuse, no? DH is going to kill me grin

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 09:50:29

I've just been through the upcoming deals again and I swear there are new ones added since I last looked at just gone midnight (I waited up thinking the deals would start then!)....maybe I was just too tired at the time.

Someone else said they could have done this last year?

Am I right in thinking that all the deals will be listed in the "Today's Deal" section, rather than being hidden elsewhere on the site?

Oh they've got a PS3 coming up, how much off do we reckon?

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 10:02:40

CockBollocks Mon 19-Nov-12 10:04:30

Thats me on the sofa all week!!

I think last years Kitchenaid offer was pretty disappointing, not much off if I remember and lots of upset mumsnetters smile

Nah don't love him that much wink

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 10:08:45

lol SpottyTeacakes thats my guess anyway.

I really am finding this addictive. Quite interesting to see what is and isn't selling. I guess the ones listed later on will go faster, when more people have access to the net.

Hope nothing good is planned for tomorrow afternoon...I'm working!

I must not succumb. Last year I bought the dog a flying jacket. I have still not lived that down.

ratbagcatbag Mon 19-Nov-12 10:10:41

I still don't get it sad I've been on amazon and I can see the stuff under black Friday and scroll left and right but I dont get how you search specific categories?!? When I do that it seems to take me into normal amazon stuff. Confused somewhat. Will try again on big conp rather than phone to see if that helps. smile

Happylander Mon 19-Nov-12 10:17:46

How do you find out what is on tomorrow or the rest of the week? I am not that impressed today

AudrinaAdare Mon 19-Nov-12 10:18:52

On the right hand side it says Category: All then a little arrow where there is a drop-down box. Probably invisible on a phone if it's like mine.

I think it only shows what's on each day at 12.01am ish.

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 10:19:47

lol @ flying jacket for the dog!

ratbagcatbag - I'm on a laptop. Where it shows the "Black Friday lightning deals" there is a drop down arrow thing saying category. Maybe it's different on the phone?

73% off wellies - a good discount but not interested. And a wallet that doesnt seem to be discounted at all!

Must step away from Amazon!

ratbagcatbag Mon 19-Nov-12 10:21:22

Ok am
I right in thinking some stuff in the 75% off categories you can just buy, buts it's the lightening deals where you have to be quick? Like the look of the cat maze but I can add it to the basket now at £13, however if I wait until 2:15 and I'm fast I will get it at whatever discount price it's on offer at?

CockBollocks Mon 19-Nov-12 10:25:44

oh chickens that was hilarious last year!!

Ratbag yes, at 2.15 it'll be cheaper, but if you add it now it'll still be £13.

ratbagcatbag Mon 19-Nov-12 10:40:42

Ok get it. Phew smile
Was hoping for an awesome deal on Lego, will have to wait and see.

Snazzyfeelingfestive Mon 19-Nov-12 10:42:01

Yay, first Black Friday buy! Not very exciting but I got the floor standing reading lamp. Have been talking about getting one for a while so have just gone for it at the discount price. Does anyone know if you have the same rights of return on Black Friday items?

Haha, I remember the dog jacket grin

Off to have another look smile

DrinkFeckArseGirls Mon 19-Nov-12 10:51:40

Can someone explain what a Black Friday is? I understand that tge sales are on but why Black Friday?

In America, after thanks giving, they have sales like our boxing day/new years sales. It just kind of caught on from that I think.

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:04:37

Who'd a thought a lighter would be so popular!

Sorry if that makes no sense. I'm not very good at explaining things smile

I know, it's mad NoSoggyBottoms. Love the name btw smile

15% off the playstation.

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:15:40

15% off Playstation 3....rubbish! Half my guess....C'mon Amazon!

That's crap!

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:16:55

Thanks Pratting grin

...Glad I'm not the only one disappointed by the Playstation....not that we wanted one...but if they offered it at a tenner....

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:17:49

All been claimed they only had a few

I'm hoping it'll get better.

grin I probably would have definitely gone for it at 30% off

BluelightsAndSirens Mon 19-Nov-12 11:20:49

Stealth buying at work here as we'll!

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:20:58

lol Spotty....Glad you love him for 30% off grin

NOThypocondriac Mon 19-Nov-12 11:22:05

Think they lie fudge the stats half the time - just tried to join waitlist for the ps3 out of boredom to see how long the wait time was and it gave me the deal instantly.

TurquoiseCat Mon 19-Nov-12 11:23:00

But the important question is whether any mnetters will be buying the bic for her pens?! grin

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:24:54

NOThypocondriac thats interesting, might give that a go myself

TurquiseCat lol I saw that too! As bad as the oven glove suggestion in the Sainsburys gift guide under "for her" fact, they had 2!

I've just tried it too NOT, it went straight into my basket!

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:26:56

I got the Playstation deal too shock

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:27:53

<shakes fist at Amazon in a menacing way>

Naughty Amazon!

NOThypocondriac Mon 19-Nov-12 11:28:16

NoSoggyBottoms - might be because loads of people apparently click to buy as soon as it's available without looking at the price, just in case it's a good deal, then when it's not they cancel so they've technically 'all gone' but there's loads still left in reality. But why Amazon can't then show the real stats might be technical problems or craftiness grin

NOThypocondriac Mon 19-Nov-12 11:28:45

(sorry, not to leave you out Pratting, x-posted!)

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:30:46

NOThypocondriac - maybe, maybe. But I'm a skeptical person....grin I'm sure Amazon would agree with your reply (apart from the last sentence!)

NOThypocondriac Mon 19-Nov-12 11:33:13

grin I'm sure. But how could they be reasonably expected to display real time stats? They're only a teeny weeny little billion-dollar/pound business after all!

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:33:45

Liquorice anyone?

ClaimedByMe Mon 19-Nov-12 11:34:13

Oh poo it won't work on my iPad! Wish I hadn't murdered my laptop the other day sad

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:34:33

who don't pay their taxes <coughs>

SweetMingePie Mon 19-Nov-12 11:36:45

I love Black Friday, am slightly addicted to it.

The deals get better as the week goes on.

Typical that the Lego is on at 3, school runtime angry

schilke Mon 19-Nov-12 11:38:01

I got the ps3 deal, but I put it back - thought it was a crap deal!

NOThypocondriac Mon 19-Nov-12 11:38:41

Hmmm, I'd forgotten that little nugget - so all the 15-20% off's REALLY aren't a good deal at all considering that's the minimum the buggers should be losing in tax anyway

NOThypocondriac Mon 19-Nov-12 11:41:26

Just seen there's a dog dna test kit coming up at 2.14 - I haven't watched Jezza Kyle in ages but I didn't know dog paternity was such a massive issue!

I don't even like liquorice, but it's making me need some. <must not add to basket>

Arf at dog dna test grin

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:43:20

SweetMingePie I noticed that.

NOThypocondriac grin

NOThypocondriac Mon 19-Nov-12 11:44:06

Same here Pratting - hate liquorice but am wondering if chocolate and salt would make it worthwhile grin

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:44:32

Dog DNA test! shock lol Didn't notice that one!

Liquorice original price was over £8! For Liquorice?!

Oooo it's a good discount though....

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:46:08

£4! Would rather buy the strawberry laces from a childrens sweet collection.

Whatever floats your boat!

Mmmm strawberry laces!

blush I added 3 different liquorice to my basket. I'm going to delete them though. Aren't I? Hmmm...

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:48:27

lol Pratting

...Rather fancy some strawberry laces now though!

Okay, I've deleted them. I hate liquorice, but I thought as it was 'posh' it might be nicer. I'll stick to strawberry laces 3 packs for £1 at supermarkets grin

NOThypocondriac Mon 19-Nov-12 11:49:13

oooh, strawberry laces I could go for. Or even better, those thingys - the strawberry flavoured tubes with crystally sugar inside, whatever they're called!

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:49:42

As Derek Trotter says "You know it makes sense" grin

Mmm yes, I love those NOT. Don't ask me what they're called though! grin

Soggy grin

Only 8 minutes 'til the Vax steam mop...

NOThypocondriac Mon 19-Nov-12 11:52:02

Have a ton of stuff around the house to do but feel suddenly bored now there's only kindle covers to look forward to.

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:55:58

Pratting Red Liquorice Flyers....I googled and yes, I am that bored and sad grin

Ooh thanks smile I'll have a look for some next time I'm shopping.

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 11:57:50

Ooh coffee machine! Forgot about that, but at a current selling price of £473, even with a discount will be out of my price range!

NOThypocondriac Mon 19-Nov-12 11:58:00

Liquorice Flyers!! That's it smile I'm even sadder - am wondering if there's anywhere nearby that would have any atm.

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 12:00:54

Did you get it Pratting?

Hmm £40. I was hoping it'd be about £20. I think I'll stick to start washing the wooden floors by hand or a normal mop.

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 12:02:39

Don't blame you...Del Boy's quote springs to mind again!

Anyway, I'm leaving the thread and Amazon for a bit!

Happy bargain hunting!

swooosh Mon 19-Nov-12 12:07:21

I want a Kitchen Aid, please tell me there'll be a Kitchen Aid this week....

SweetMingePie Mon 19-Nov-12 12:09:07

Had a proper look at the Lego sets and they are not that fantastic, so can stop pouting.

I really hope there are a few nerf products listed this week.

There was last year, so fingers crossed!

Kveta Mon 19-Nov-12 12:10:55

I just got a powershot, DH said he'd give me £50 towards a camera, so at £49, it's a bargain grin and means DS can have my old one, which he will be thrilled by!

swooosh Mon 19-Nov-12 12:11:49

I quite want the dog DNA test blush

Yay Kveta smile Bargain!

I bought the Harry Potter box set and then realised it was on blue ray and I don't have a blue ray player and the Thomas Ride on Train thing for ds3. I hope he is old enough for it though, I couldn't see an age recommendation, he's 17 months.

SweetMingePie Mon 19-Nov-12 12:32:42

Dinosaurs, the train set goes quite slow so as long as he can straddle it he will be fine.

Rosa Mon 19-Nov-12 12:37:57

I just bought a meat sensor.... Honestly I really don't know why I hope it will be useful ...I did have some other xmas presents in my basket so this was the excuse to really get them ordered...
I will not look on Tuesday hmm

ClaimedByMe Mon 19-Nov-12 13:00:04

I think I'm going for the dog DNA test.

I wanted the Heroes boxset but it's blu ray and I don't have a blu ray player. FFS I don't even have a flat screen tv! Just a massive box.

LalaDipsey Mon 19-Nov-12 13:16:12

Ok so I added the princess chandelier lampshade to basket at £14.99 lightening deal still running but at check out it's charging me £30??!! Any idea??

schilke Mon 19-Nov-12 13:18:58

I've just bought the tyre inflator for dh for christmas. It had actually been in my saved basket. I'm getting my own back for the Scoop colander he got me last year....actually i wanted one, but my mum was a bit hmm when I unwrapped it!

schilke Mon 19-Nov-12 13:20:47

Not sure LalaDipsey. Try taking it out and putting it back in your basket. I just tried putting one in and it was half price at checkout.

I got some liquorice blush It's for DH for Christmas. I would never have paid over £8 for it though confused

NOThypocondriac Mon 19-Nov-12 13:26:43

Keep looking at the clock now trying to remember the times of bits and pieces. Hoping the Blur set goes for £20 but doubt I'm that lucky.

Kveta Mon 19-Nov-12 13:31:40

when you buy lightening deals they say it's full price in your basket, then click through to checkout and they apply a 'promotional voucher' so you get it for the promo cost smile

I've got the Estee Lauder perfume for my mum. Hope it's nice.

Thanks SweetMinge (can't believe I just typed 'sweet minge!)

DangerousMouse Mon 19-Nov-12 13:52:51

Do things get cheaper as the time runs out then?

Unfortunately not sad

DangerousMouse Mon 19-Nov-12 13:57:53

ok, oh well! Do you have any idea of what is coming up? My DD is after a coolpix camera, I saw the canon ones and debated it, but I didn't get one, I'm probably going to regret that!

minsmum Mon 19-Nov-12 13:59:36

Well I bought the watch my DH wanted for 60 quid. So pleased

No idea, apart from what's on today. Though last year the things got better and were better deals towards the end of the week.

Who's getting the dog DNA kit then? grin

swooosh Mon 19-Nov-12 14:03:33

How long do the deals stay in your basket for? The deal has ended but it's in my basket (Canon Powershot £49 one - I do NEED a new camera)

swooosh Mon 19-Nov-12 14:04:03

Think I MIGHT get the dog DNA test...I have a Beagle but always wanted to test her as I think she's a bit jumbled grin

swooosh Mon 19-Nov-12 14:06:54

ooooooh 8 minutes to decide. £49 down from £129. That's good isn't it??

I think they only stay for about 15 minutes.

Yep it is good. I'd get one but I think DH wouldn't be happy ignores all the cameras I have.

Swooosh grin If they have a cat DNA test, I may get one grin

TaggieCampbellBlack Mon 19-Nov-12 14:10:07

I'm awake! And bought a set of bath bombs. I fancy the dog dna test. It would be like jeremy kyle.

swooosh Mon 19-Nov-12 14:12:47

I've ordered it! Now I'm sad I got the black and not the pink sad

Think I'll buy the dog DNA test to console myself.

Arithmeticulous Mon 19-Nov-12 14:14:18

I want the dog DNA test and I don't even have a dog!

The Lego stuff doesn't look like it'd be a best seller anyway, so I'm not going to be clicking on my phone outside school wink

Allonsy Mon 19-Nov-12 14:15:05

I just got a canon camera for £49 been after a camera for weeks as mine is faulty not much else on there though imo

ImpYCelyn Mon 19-Nov-12 14:15:25

Gah, how annoying - of all the bloody random things they have a ukelele coming up later, and I bought my brother one from the music shop on Friday. If it's less than I paid I'm going to be so angry

swooosh Mon 19-Nov-12 14:16:35

Dog DNA test too expensive. I was gonna go for it if it was under £20. I'll just accept my dog is a Beagle.

I got the cat maze. He'll love it! The cat not DH

Not sure if you know but if you are buying on Amazon then you can help to raise funds for different causes. All Guiding units in the South West are registered for example. Just go to this site and register. Choose a cause and as long as you go to Amazon through the easyfundraising site, the cause you choose gets 2.5% back. It costs you nothing and the cause doesn't get to see what you buy.

I hope this is ok as I haven't linked to my specific unit so not advertising for my benefit IYKWIM.

Dillydollydaydream Mon 19-Nov-12 14:23:44

I got the new photoshop for less than £30 las year so was quite happy with that. Need to get dd a kindle fire, keeping fingers crossed they reduce that - and I manage to get one!

Allonsy Mon 19-Nov-12 14:27:08

can someone tell me where they see upcoming deals? my dh said he can she them on his work comp but i cant see them?

Looks like the dog DNA test isn't that popular grin It's quite expensive though confused

Above all the deals, to the left it says All available, Upcoming and Missed deals. Click on upcoming.

Tortoise Mon 19-Nov-12 14:36:39

I bought the dog flying jacket last year too!
So far only got a talking moshi monster for DD.
Waiting for 1D headphones!

blibblibs Mon 19-Nov-12 14:49:25

Waiting for the star wars spectacular but really need to go and do pick up!

3nationsfamily Mon 19-Nov-12 14:51:59

I got the 1D headphones!! 30% off. My niece will be thrilled- interchangeable photos of the band to click in to the headphones. The headphones will probably last longer than the band but at 13 she is obsessed!

I'm already worrying about what'll be on, on thurs and fri night as I'll be out sad Bet that's when the best things will be on, and I would've sat here all week!

Kveta Mon 19-Nov-12 15:07:20

just ordered the britain from the air book, that's my gran's christmas gift sorted. must not buy anything else today!

I've got the Britain from the air book too. Either for my nan & grandad or fil & mil or DH. Not sure yet.

LalaDipsey Mon 19-Nov-12 15:38:53

Ok so earlier there was a queen size air bed due to be on at 3.30pm - it's disappeared???!! Anyone know why/how?!

I think they do this to slot other things in (and move what the original thing was to another time) and make you stay on the site for longer.

Here's a thread about it on the forums:

blibblibs Mon 19-Nov-12 15:52:22

Got the Star Wars and the oxford story books.
Waiting to see the deal on the IPL and slow cooker - this could be an expensive week!

ClaimedByMe Mon 19-Nov-12 15:54:07

I bought the doggy DNA test, I'm glad I didn't let dp buy it a few weeks now!

I'm waiting for the IPL too. Really need it with my PCOS. It's medicinal right? grin

Right I must tidy up dd's mess and Hoover all of downstairs before the Melissa & Doug stuff comes on at 5 (I think?!). GO GO GO!!!!

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 16:06:45

Disappointed about the Lego sets. Seems to be books rather than the actual Lego? Good reduction though

LalaDipsey Mon 19-Nov-12 16:09:13

Thanks. That seems very mean of them!

ClaimedByMe Mon 19-Nov-12 16:10:26

I am now contemplating the electric toothbrush for dps Christmas, he has wanted one for a while but is too tight!

NoSoggy the Lego Ninjago set has two brickmaster sets in it, they have lots of pieces you can use to make various models as shown in the book, they're very good, I've had various sets for DS.

I was hoping dreaming the IPL would be about £50. Oh well. Back to the razors...

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 16:21:51

Oh Just thanks. Confused me as it was listed under books and when I googled 'brickmaster' it came back with a magazine.

But thanks for explaining it smile

blibblibs Mon 19-Nov-12 16:24:17

I was being a bit more realistic and hoping for at least 50% off the IPL grin
Brillo pads for the time being then....

Hopefully have more joy with the slow cooker as I've just realised I've bought 4 Star Wars lego books not any actual lego - ah well I'm sure DS will be able to read soon grin

SweetMingePie Mon 19-Nov-12 16:32:16

Can someone remind me of the protocol of going on the waiting list. If you have a chance to buy it do you get emailed or do you need to watch amazon?

I think a box appears on the top right hand corner by the basket, if some become available.

jumblequeen Mon 19-Nov-12 16:41:14

Marking my place. New to this Black Friday business!

TalkinPeace2 Mon 19-Nov-12 16:45:39

Amazon are only cheap because they avoid paying tax that would otherwise go to hospitals and schools in this country

TaggieCampbellBlack Mon 19-Nov-12 16:54:54

Do you really think? Idon't. Even if they paid billions in tax the NHS would still be imploding and schools still overstretched.
And I'm skint so if I can get something fir less money than somewhere else then i'm going to go for the cheaper option.

SweetMingePie Mon 19-Nov-12 16:58:46

Speaking of which, there are a few people starting posts along those lines on the amazon Black Friday forum going on about the tax, gets deleted quite quickly from what I've seen.

CrystalTits Mon 19-Nov-12 16:59:05

I've just bought a ukulele thanks to you lot grin WTAF am I going to do with a ukulele?!

ClaimedByMe Mon 19-Nov-12 16:59:35

Well said Taggie I will add I have never had any problems ordering from amazon, I like that they deliver what you order when you want it!

Blimey, the Melissa and Doug stuff went quick sad

TaggieCampbellBlack Mon 19-Nov-12 17:04:42

Crystal. You can go busking and make millions tax free grin

TaggieCampbellBlack Mon 19-Nov-12 17:05:12

I need girls pens.

SweetMingePie Mon 19-Nov-12 17:11:42

I managed to get the play dough set. Pleased with that as was the only thing I wanted today.

CrystalTits Mon 19-Nov-12 17:19:33

All together now..."I'm leaning on a lamp post at the corner of the street/In case a certain little lady comes by..." smile

Tortoise Mon 19-Nov-12 17:20:45

I decided £19.99 was more than I wanted to pay for the headphones. Was hoping for £15.

TaggieCampbellBlack Mon 19-Nov-12 17:21:41

I don't need £9 of girls pens.

shock at the price of the pens. Can't believe their normal price is £21 confused

blibblibs Mon 19-Nov-12 17:32:21

Missed the slow cooker sad
Can you put these deals in your basket and then wait for the reduction?

spookysal Mon 19-Nov-12 17:36:44

I managed to put all four Melissa and Doug toys in my basket. But luckily regained control of myself before checking out and only purchased the lacing beads, which was the only thing I wanted before I got caught up in the heat of the moment

LalaDipsey Mon 19-Nov-12 17:43:52

Well done spooksy. I lost control - put all 4 in my basket and checked out 3 blush this is only day 1!!!

LalaDipsey Mon 19-Nov-12 17:44:39

and I almost bought the slow cooker - I ALREADY HAVE ONE!!!!!

Belacqua Mon 19-Nov-12 17:46:24

I impulse bought a slow cooker - they are brilliant, right?

LalaDipsey Mon 19-Nov-12 17:50:03

They are fab smile as long as the recipe is good. I have made some inedible shite in mine from time to time but also some crackers!!!

Belacqua Mon 19-Nov-12 17:52:47

Thankyou! My sister likes grey Le Creuset stuff and this is, ahem, grey...

SweetMingePie Mon 19-Nov-12 17:54:17

Will tomorrows items be listed once today's are all done, or will they go on tomorrow morning?

they'll be there at midnight

SweetMingePie Mon 19-Nov-12 17:59:46

<wibble> looks like a late night tonight then.

Yes! I missed the light wand which I was waiting for, so was on the waiting list and I got it smile and DH will be very happy I got Victoria Pendleton's book.

nappybrain Mon 19-Nov-12 18:04:49

Do the Strongest Offers change every day please? Novice here !

AmberLeaf Mon 19-Nov-12 18:08:14

I think the deals were fairly underwhelming TBH!

I admit I didnt look at any where near all of them, but I cant get excited about a 22% reduction.

I got a great 50% off deal on a toy for DS last year, so I had high hopes, ah well, I'll keep looking.

minsmum Mon 19-Nov-12 18:08:56

Well I got the light wand and keep looking at things I don't want or need. Last year I bought the tassimo coffee thingy and its fabulous.

DorsetKnob Mon 19-Nov-12 18:12:11

I am waiting to see what the HiFi system goes for and the Zumba Wii.

CointreauVersial Mon 19-Nov-12 18:12:22

WTF is a light wand?

I love Black Friday. Last year I picked up a couple of things, including anti-virus software; pretty dullsville, but something I needed and at a massive discount.

I have my eye on the men's running jackets coming up shortly, for DH's Christmas present, but they are megabucks, so I don't think a small discount will cut it.

Narked Mon 19-Nov-12 18:13:11

I'm not buying from them again until they start paying tax.

CointreauVersial Mon 19-Nov-12 18:16:19

Running jackets 58% off, but still £80.

<off to look at Sports Direct>

spookysal Mon 19-Nov-12 18:25:32

Pah about the tax.

If the government was bothered, they would shut down the loopholes that allow tax avoidence to happen. And the reason they don't is because it would piss off too many of their rich friends. The whole system is corrupt. Just like every other country in the world.

Getting my knickers in a twist by refusing to spend £7.88 on Amazon isn't going to make one iota of difference to the way a massive company like Amazon does business.

And I'm not daft enough to cut off my nose to spite my face.

SlightlySuperiorPeasant Mon 19-Nov-12 18:29:28

I got a bath bomb set; it will do for SIL2. Ummed and ahhed over the running shoes until I saw sense and accepted that as I get shin-splints I really do need to get some which are properly fitted.

bagpuss Mon 19-Nov-12 18:34:53

Not bought anything yet but I am grin at the reviews for the bic pens!

I was hoping the kindle cases would be a little bit better than they were and missed out on the le creuset earlier sad.

AfternoonsandCoffeespoons Mon 19-Nov-12 18:37:50

Reporting it. Its only flipping Monday, but so far I have bought wellies for me and DS; pink sketchers (also for me!); and the Jillian Michaels DVD (um....also for me blush). I'm supposed to be christmas shopping FFS. Need to be a bit stronger tomorrow or I will be very skint very soon!

Tortoise Mon 19-Nov-12 18:39:40

I wanted the skechers but don't have much money until Thursday. Need to keep back as much as possible in case something good comes up!

AfternoonsandCoffeespoons Mon 19-Nov-12 18:43:01

The Sketchers are lush, aren't they, Tortoise - and actually a bargain, unlike alot of the stuff today hmm. I'm very excited. But yeah, hoping things will improve as the week goes on, so also need to hold back a bit now.

Just got 6 week 6 pack DVD for £3.50, now all I've got to do is finish the shred and summon up the energy for this one! smile

Tortoise Mon 19-Nov-12 18:53:24

Only 28% claimed so far so will they possibly be back on in the week? I can't remember from last year.
Annoyingly i have £200 in paypal but Amazon don't take it and transfer to bank takes 3 days. Will have money Thursday anyway so not worth transferring.

DorsetKnob Mon 19-Nov-12 18:54:21

I bough the sketchers, need a good trainer to walk to work in, bargain.

SweetMingePie Mon 19-Nov-12 19:08:16

Tortoise, paypal transfers are instant ow! I only found this out on Friday when I transferred some money and got an email saying it could take 2 hours, but when I checked my bank it was there.

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 19:23:44

Tortoise was also going to reply that PayPal transfers to bank account take 2 hours. Bloody lifesaver!

Interested in the UDraw thing coming up soon...

AmberLeaf Mon 19-Nov-12 19:25:54

Im shock that amazon don't take paypal!

Tortoise Mon 19-Nov-12 19:40:38

shock really? That's fab. Wish I had know earlier.
Off to sort it now!

rhondajean Mon 19-Nov-12 19:43:22

Jus tooted this on Xmas thread
Wii udraw 11.99 on

Don't buy on amazon if it's more.

SweetMingePie Mon 19-Nov-12 19:45:52

Zavvi have the udraw for £10 iirc.

milk Mon 19-Nov-12 19:46:46

angry uDraw on X-Box has a 44% discount whereas uDraw on the Wii only has a 27% discount sad

poorbuthappy Mon 19-Nov-12 19:46:55

ghds at 8.30

milk Mon 19-Nov-12 19:47:09

PS3 also has a 44% discount sad

NoSoggyBottoms Mon 19-Nov-12 19:52:53

AmberLeaf I'm shock that most places online do not take Paypal nowadays.

We have a ps3 so I got the Udraw for DH smile Mind you, it was only £9 to begin with, so already less than the wii one before discount.

DorisIsWaiting Mon 19-Nov-12 19:54:43

really annoyed with the udraw got it in my basket then went back to see much better discount for the other platforms and it's only £1 cheaper than

Think I will leave that.

It's only the 2nd thing I've put in my basket today and both times not bought ( I want a silver anglepoise lamp to wall mount in our lounge, and they had all the wrong colours grin).

Well, considering I didn't need anything and have no money, I finish up today having bought two things blush
Nothing else interesting today, so will see you all tomorrow, bright and early grin

SweetMingePie Mon 19-Nov-12 20:01:18

I think kindle fires are gong to be on Friday. I dont need one, DH bought on the other day, but good for those who do?

Tortoise Mon 19-Nov-12 20:01:18

Yay transferred money (may not be a good thing lol!).
Bought Xbox game for DS1.

TaggieCampbellBlack Mon 19-Nov-12 22:24:53

Can we have a daily Black Friday thread? My phone struggles with long threads.

Day off tomorrow. Hoping for a bargain or 2!

SweetMingePie Mon 19-Nov-12 22:29:29

Can't see why not. Make sure to link it on here though so others can find it.

BluelightsAndSirens Mon 19-Nov-12 22:54:43

Please help me work it out, I will need to be on my phone on Friday but would love a kindle fire for DD.

Do I need to be on line at a special time and logged on etc

I'm a Black Friday virgin smile

SweetMingePie Mon 19-Nov-12 23:02:55

If you check what time it is coming up you'll need to have the Black Friday page open and as soon as it comes up press the button. Fastest fingers first!

Tortoise Tue 20-Nov-12 00:26:58

Just had a look through tomorrows deals. A few bits i like the look of. Think DDs would like Disney just dance on wii.

Snazzyfeelingfestive Tue 20-Nov-12 00:59:53

Whoever wanted a silver Anglepoise lamp, they're on tomorrow!

Taggie, I would be supportive of a daily thread, I'm also on a phone smile

SlightlySuperiorPeasant Tue 20-Nov-12 07:11:39

Today I must not buy:

- a set of nursery rhymes
- a laser spirit level
- pyjamas
- a subscription to love film
- a kayak

grin at a kayak!

Nothing temping me today. Bet there will be tomorrow when I have to go out most of the day!

PixieHot Tue 20-Nov-12 07:16:47

We have the nursery rhymes books already, they're fab and DS loves them. I think we got them from the Book People for £6 or £8.

PixieHot Tue 20-Nov-12 07:19:49

I'm not sure about Cyberjammies sizing though - I've got a size 14 pair of jammie bottoms, but I think that they're slightly too small and slightly too short. Might be worth a quick search for those hoping to buy.

3bunnies Tue 20-Nov-12 07:24:29

Is it an inflatable kayak? That is dh's mid life crisis dream!!!

I got the Lovefilm 6 month subscription last year. Think it was £17. We've still not started using it angry

Shall I start a thread part 2?

TaggieCampbellBlack Tue 20-Nov-12 07:37:42

Mornin all.
Just started Thread 2 Day 2.
Can't link. Am incompetent.

TaggieCampbellBlack Tue 20-Nov-12 07:44:15

Thanks pratting.

Smudging Tue 20-Nov-12 13:15:38

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Arithmeticulous Tue 20-Nov-12 13:31:43

Don't refresh - it counts down (for me), stalls a bit at 0:00 then the yellow box comes up. No refreshing.

Loulousmummy Tue 20-Nov-12 13:49:18

Damn, clicked on the wrong bit when trying for the Disney nightlight. The one thing I really bloody wanted.

BlueGuinefort Tue 20-Nov-12 17:05:57

Does anyone know whether the item gets put into your basket at the full price and then goes through at the reduced price? <<wishful thinking>>

Panicking a bit - thought I had a bargain pair of Cat boots for DH - and they went through at £90-something instead of £49.99.

BlueGuinefort Tue 20-Nov-12 17:29:39

Well, luckily I added myself to the waiting list for the boots as soon as I spotted that the first order went through at full price. I then had a webchat with an Amazon person, who didn't know what had happened. In the meantime, the boots became available again so I bought them at the reduced price and cancelled the full price order. Phew!

I probably clicked the wrong button or something blush. So the moral of that -rambling story is to KEEP AN EYE ON THE PRICE!

BTW: The basket showed the reduced price, then <click> the delivery options page showed the full price, then <click> the checkout page showed the reduced price again. Strange and confusing (or maybe that's just me!).

Guitargirl Tue 20-Nov-12 19:29:22

It's very confusing with the price, I bought the Let's Dance Disney for Wii earlier for 15.99. Once I had it in the basket and started clicking through to buy it went back up to 22.99 right up until the last click when it went back to 15.99 but then they also tried to move my free delivery to first class so keep an eye out for that to avoid getting stung with unwanted delivery charges!

BlueGuinefort Tue 20-Nov-12 22:15:41

Pleased it wasn't just me Guitar!
