Taffraid Sun 28-Oct-12 14:35:59

Waiting - I had a demo of the fun bar from Lush the other week. Its a bit like Play doh but its soap/bubble bath/shampoo. You just crumble a bit in your hand or the bath and add water and it foams up.

Prob is I'm not sure how long it would last before going dry, I think you need to wrap it in clingfilm to prevent this, and/or keep it on a dish/plate with cling film covering.

I am too lazy as I know the DC would just leave it out and it would dry up and I'd be pissed off. so I just spent a fortune on bath bombs instead

Aspiemum2 Sun 28-Oct-12 14:36:30

Aspiemum2 Sun 28-Oct-12 14:40:21

If its Christmas bath bombs you want you need the soap site previously mentioned. They have Christmas pudding ones. I can't link on my phone but I'm sure mooseymoo will be along shortly to help you out

Skivvytomany Sun 28-Oct-12 14:42:52

I love these threads, I'm getting excited about Christmas already. I was going to buy those lush playdoh bars but they would last for one bath in my house and get mushed everywhere. I'll get bath bombs instead or does anyone know what those mr matey bubble baths smell like now. Is it till the original smell from a few years ago? I'm busy planning hampers for Christmas Eve.

Skivvytomany Sun 28-Oct-12 14:46:58

Lego advent calendars are part of 3 for 2 on toys at tesco. Think the starwars was 19.99

everydayaschoolday Sun 28-Oct-12 14:52:49

MooseyMoo Amazon customer services say it's a 4-disc boxset. This is in line with the pictures below the main image, and the product info that says it includes '4 discs'. However, this is at odds with the reviews that appear to be reviewing just one DVD. I'm sure it will be the boxset smile.

There is a DVD too apparently..

HocusPocusPigInACaldron Sun 28-Oct-12 20:07:08

Anyone after books, i got this Michael Morpurgo Set for dd.

Only £16.99 for 16 books for The Book People, it has arrived and is lovely.

Elf on the shelf - Pottery barn - half price shipping to the UK grin.

This was posted byAuscreemaAscare on the last thread! I wasn't going to do elf on the shelf but, I do love a bit of Americana, and the nightie is so cute!

oreocrumbs Sun 28-Oct-12 20:29:40

This explains elf on the shelf. An american tradition that is moving over here. There are a lot of threads in this topic about it.

I think I will start it next year, DD is only 2 and I think I will just be making work for myself if i do it this year. But I think once they grasp it, it will be wonderful!

oreocrumbs Sun 28-Oct-12 20:31:27
Sargesaweyes Sun 28-Oct-12 20:32:00

I can't wait to do it (my own version anyway) but ds isn't old enough. I copied this explanation. I think you get a book with it aswell??

Every evening parents hide the elf in a different hiding spot for children to find in the morning. Then each morning, kids delightfully run around looking to find where the little elf landed after reporting to Santa at the North Pole the night before.

There is only one rule. Children are not supposed to touch the little elf (though they are allowed to tell him their Christmas secrets).

Each family gets to adopt their own little elf that is sent to them directly from Santa. The elf receives its "Christmas magic" as soon as the new human family gives him their own special name. Then their personal little elf returns year after year to make sure the children are behaving before Christmas arrives and reports back to Santa each evening.

The Elf on the Shelf is not only fun for children to find - but fun for parents to come up with creative places to hide the elf each evening (or at least come up with creative excuses about why the elf hasn't moved if parents forget to move him the night before). The general rule is the elf needs to be "hidden" in plain site so he can keep an eye on the kids to be sure they are behaving.

Parents are also receiving the benefit of better behaving children as they remind them that the elf is watching them and will give Santa a bad report if they act up.

After Christmas arrives the little elf goes back to the North Pole with Santa until the following year.

Sargesaweyes Sun 28-Oct-12 20:32:33

Bit late there lol sorry x posts

oreocrumbs Sun 28-Oct-12 20:43:41

Does anyone know anything about DS games?

I want to buy the new Professor Layton game, but so far can only see it for the 3DS. I only have a regular DS (and won't buy a 3DS because I can't see them. Turns out you need good vision in both eyes otherwise they don't work hmm).

Anyway what I want to know is will a 3DS game work on my DS. And if not is there a regular DS version of the game. Preferably for the £20 that Amazon has the other on for!

3DS games don't work on a DS, they have a little sticky out bit on the side which means they don't fit in the slot.

You really don't need the book & toy deal, some people make their elves for pennies. and there's loads of ideas and things to down load for free. The gund ones came on amazon on and off last year, I kept checking too, eBay as well until I got one!

Taffraid Sun 28-Oct-12 20:49:09

oreo - try Game, they sell second hand, or ebay

Taffraid Sun 28-Oct-12 20:49:50

Oh I just noticed you said the new one. Oops

Looby12 Sun 28-Oct-12 20:55:42

oreo I don't think it is available on normal DS which I am disappointed about as well.

oreocrumbs Sun 28-Oct-12 20:59:54

Argh, but I neeeed it. It has been my christmas present for the last frew years, it's become a tradition!

I really really don't want to have to buy a 3ds - entirely pointless for me as I will only see it in 2d. Does this mean they are phasing out regular versions of games?

Well that's me in a sulk now!

ScorpionQueen Sun 28-Oct-12 21:08:06

Penguin, while not exactly a bargain, DD was overjoyed with a £10 Claire's voucher last year and got quite a lot with it in the sale. She is 11.

everyday thanks for the digital photo key ring link. I've just ordered 12! That sorts the grandparents, great grandparents and uncles presents from dd.

Maybeamaybaby Disney christmas DVD box set £3 (no delivery charge) link is on Reastie's OP list. Amazon advertises that it is a boxset of 4 DVDs, but some of the pictures and reviews hint at it being one DVD. Still avail to order, and Amazon Customer Services told me on the phone this afternoon that it is 4 DVDs. If anyone is unsure whether to go for it, I should get mine delivered this week and I will post on here precisely what is included and whether I think it's worth the £3. smile

everydayaschoolday Sun 28-Oct-12 21:15:11

glad the keyring link went down well smile. <takes a bow for finding a good 'un>

Any clues?
thanks to Reastie for such a great thread - you've saved me loads!

Naghoul's elves are the business grin

mummymccar Sun 28-Oct-12 21:35:10

I think it's excellent that whoever analyses such things was obviously referred back to the Elf thread last year with all of us going gaga then shock at the shipping prices grin

Frontpaw Mon 29-Oct-12 09:39:28

Isn't it great?!

My family usually get booze, chocolate/foody stuff and wooly/waterproofs (its cold and wet where a lot of my folks are!). Waitrose had some very nice San Leon (I thing that's the name) prosecco for £6.66 (eeek!) Which is good for 'goody bags' with chocs/tins of bikkies/hestons clementine christmas puds for teachers/postmen etc.

Any other boozy or wooly finds, people?

Also something for a 2 year old girl (no idea what they are into!).

Plus light stuff to be poster to the US. My sis loves books but postage is more than a book. D'oh - Amazon!!!

PopGoesTheWeeble Mon 29-Oct-12 10:08:38

Thanks OP for the heads up on the Zulily kitchen, I have been after a cheap wooden non-girly kitchen for ages!!

MooseyMoo Mon 29-Oct-12 11:49:54

tulip have you used it once already?

Angelsus Mon 29-Oct-12 12:02:16

Re the Tesco clubcard exchange do you have to pay the full amount in vouchers or can you top up in cash?

gleemama Mon 29-Oct-12 12:03:15

tulip27 The Molton Brown website had problems over the weekend, kept crashing. Eventually I got it to work, but it must still be having problems. Think its a website problem rather than a code problem. Maybe try again later.

gleemama Mon 29-Oct-12 12:04:18

rhondajean Mon 29-Oct-12 12:59:22

That tim burton set looks amazing and my dd would love it but I see it's a 18, does anyone know which film is an 18 they don't look that bad but I haven't seen them all!

They're

Batman
Batman returns
Charlie and teh chocolate factory
Sweeney Todd
Pewees big adventure
Corps bride
Mars attack
Beetle juice

So mostly look like kids films, are any of them too much for a 13 year old?

BlameItOnTheCuervForHumanBlood Mon 29-Oct-12 13:05:15

sweeney todd includes killing scenes, but they arent hugley graphic and v fake looking but probably why the age is high as there are a lot of them. its a weird film like a musical with the odd dash of murder.Beetle juice i think is or was either a 12 or 15, i love the film but again has spooky parts which some children might be scared by and a few adult references.

rhonda maybe split the pack and keep the more adult ones if your worried.

whoneedstosleep Mon 29-Oct-12 13:44:54

Tesco have 3 for 2 on toys and discount on some Lego . I got three sets for £20 that full price would have been more like £50 .

Parrish Mon 29-Oct-12 21:11:02

There's nothing left in stock in Tesco! All the toys I want are OOS!

rhondajean Mon 29-Oct-12 21:11:48

Sorry the white company code is for 20 per cent off AND free delivery.

OOOH thank you so much!!!!!! Love those aprons, got the matching T towels to make a package gift for M & MiL

OhTheConfusion Mon 29-Oct-12 21:12:41

If anyone posts another book people code can they also point me in the direction of a new bookcase?!? I fear I may run out of space soon!

MistressIggi Mon 29-Oct-12 21:17:33

MooseyMoo - thanks for the H&M link, aprons for me and a friend and a scarf to make up the order.

busyprocrastinating Mon 29-Oct-12 21:21:17

Parrish sign up for an email alert for when they come back in stock. I've done this twice and both times they have had more stock in by the next morning even whilst the 3 for 2 offer was on. Worth a try!

Argos toy exchange. Take your old toys to Argos and they give you a £5 voucher.

AuscreemaAscare Mon 29-Oct-12 21:52:08

envy of you reastie about the Elf Pajamas. DS is five and beefy substantial so I can't get away with dividing the cost over a few years. That was my excuse to myself for getting the Elf on the Shelf in the first place as I recall...

Have set my sights on this which is bound to last a couple of decades at least, so a snip, really! grin

UterusUterusGhouli Mon 29-Oct-12 21:52:54

Scorpion, where do you enter the Clarks code? I've got all the way to the paypal bit and cannot see where to enter it!
Am I being thick!

Allyblaster Mon 29-Oct-12 21:55:12

John Lewis are doing 25% off the Little Tikes range until 9th Nov. Looks like mostly big outdoor play stuff but we've ordered the wooden kitchen which sold out in the Sainsbury's sale.

oreocrumbs Mon 29-Oct-12 21:57:50

Excellent, have ordered aprons and tea towels too!

Still needing pesky men presents. Although FIL has really upset me this week so a lump of coal will do for him.

I want to buy a hamper for DP's granny and uncle, and for his aunt, uncle and cousins. I would make one but they are very much a bough gift is better than a lovingly home made gift family hmm
So who wants to point me in the right direction? No more than £30 each, preferably £20!

iloveholidays Mon 29-Oct-12 22:01:23

How much is postage on H&M? Think I'm being a bit dumb...

Thanks

oreocrumbs Mon 29-Oct-12 22:05:23

£3.99

iloveholidays Mon 29-Oct-12 22:09:15

BeaWheesht Mon 29-Oct-12 22:13:56

Got Gruffalos child for niece who is 19m, a board book for niece who is 13m, happy land jubilee people for dd and Allen school book for ds all for less than £10 at elc

grin

MistressIggi Mon 29-Oct-12 22:16:00

Oreo I got several lovely M&S hampers last year that were either a third off or half price, iirc. If you're interested in that I could do an email search tomorrow to see what sort of date it was (they post when you order, so you wouldn't want to do it just yet!)

oreocrumbs Mon 29-Oct-12 22:22:26

Oh yes please MistressIggi, that would be great.

I had a look at the M&S hampers and they are lovely but at full price are too much to pay. With a discount would be excellent!

It's made of really thick cardboard, and the drawers are mega deep, so this ideal if you have more than one child, or you want to put a few items in each day.
It's says £12 online, but I paid £10 in store! Cheeky feckers!

3bunnies Mon 29-Oct-12 23:32:08

Have ordered penguin pillow thingy, only ordered 2 as you could only put two per order. Now need to think whether to get a third the same for ds, or whether to risk it and let him think it is for girls (only 3); or look out for cheap similar one. Oh the dilemas! Going to collect whsmiths order and may be obliged to get sun lego deal at same time, would be rude not to!

halfthesize Tue 30-Oct-12 00:03:17

Just ordered the H&M aprons thanks thanks for link x

Hi penguinbeaver i couldnt link yesterday but this was what i meant www.homebargains.co.uk/products/5945-snuggz-penguin-pillow-friend-19.aspx , fantastic price!

3bunnies Tue 30-Oct-12 08:14:36

Yes that^ penguinbeaver

do you think its too girly pillow type for ds? hes 5

Penguinbeaver Tue 30-Oct-12 08:21:21

Thanks Waiting and 3bunnies, no definately not too girly.
Yesterday Poundland had lovely snowman and Santa mugs for those of you doing snowman soup on Xmas eve.

whoneedstosleep Tue 30-Oct-12 08:40:49

waiting that looks identical to the pillow pets one I bought for £14.99 from toysrus! (I did get it when 20% off but that's a brilliant price!)

They have also had them in the works but think they are 19.99, they are huge though the ones in the works.

milkymocha Tue 30-Oct-12 09:08:02

Is it still SAVANNAH for ELC discount? And if so what discount does that give?

just bought 2 penguins couldnt resist (y)

oreocrumbs Tue 30-Oct-12 09:41:26

SAVANNAH or BC0912 should still work. May or may not work on sale items (seems to for some and not others). Both give 20% off.

mummymccar Tue 30-Oct-12 09:46:03

Just a warning about shopto.net - I received their package today and one of the items was badly damaged. It had obviously been opened before being sent out and the box was very tatty. The envelope was perfect though - not a dent so it must have been like that before sending. Going to contact them about a replacement but the website states that I would have to pay p&p myself. Will update with what they say.

mummymccar Tue 30-Oct-12 10:11:45

Just spoke to them and they were very helpful, going to refund in full and I won't be charged postage - very impressed!

OnTheGoodList Tue 30-Oct-12 10:13:51

MistressIggi Tue 30-Oct-12 10:51:11

Thanks Waiting, smile he is half softie and half ninja at the moment.
silver by mail have a sale on at the moment - not cheap cheap but some nice earrings etc, have bought from them in the past.

TheonlyWayisGerard Tue 30-Oct-12 10:51:38

bulletwithspookybatwings Tue 30-Oct-12 11:04:26

Those that did the chocolate tasting, how did you pay? Is it possible to do a bank transfer/ pay over the phone/ online?

OoooOoooOoood Tue 30-Oct-12 11:15:48

Paid by PayPal I think. Dh & i started on them last week!

bulletwithspookybatwings Tue 30-Oct-12 11:21:00

We've eaten all of them already! blush They were very good, wish I could afford £20 a month to keep having them!

EdsRedeemingQualities Tue 30-Oct-12 11:25:03

I just wanted to say, I ordered from Easyart (recommended on the last thread) (or was it the one before!) about 2 weeks ago. Despatch date was set for yesterday-ish, which seemed a long time to wait but anyway.

I just got an email from them saying that they haven't got any left of the print I really wanted sad

so I've asked them to cancel the whole order.

They were apologetic but I'm pretty disappointed.

Just be aware that their despatch times are very very slow.

I have just come back from tesco.

3 for 2 on all toys. I bought a bob the builder workbench that was half price, a garbage truck and a set of emergency vehicles. £64 worth of toys for £31. I call that a result! The workbench was supposed to be £40 on its own!

Thank you for this thread x

No worries moosey - mine hasn't yet been dispatched so I've just cancelled the order. Thanks for letting us know.

My monster high create a dolls for 8.99 turned up yesterday, quite pleased with them for 8.99 dont think id of paid 17.99 for them. sd will like them though.

kiwidreamer Tue 30-Oct-12 13:35:23

I cancelled my Disney DVD's yesterday too, we have several nice old school Mickey and crew christmas DVD's so it wasnt worth the risk that it would be utter crap. Tho interestingly a few days ago I went to organise a return for an item purchased from Amazon that cost £2.80 and got a message - sorry you didnt like your item but keep it and we'll arrange your refund - obviously not worth the return postage etc... the item isnt great tho and I wouldnt give it as a gift for the person I had in mind but the school fayre will benefit!!!

Thanks for the Gruffalo sets that is brilliant, I got two for 20mth old's stocking and a first birthday present coming up smile Free postage too!!

craftynclothy Tue 30-Oct-12 13:39:15

Have caved and bought the Gruffalo set too seeing as it was free postage. Have been feeling bad that a friend's son hadn't quite got as much as their daughter so that will make it even.

anyone got any good deals on beauty other than L'occinane and molton brown?

Aspiemum2 Tue 30-Oct-12 13:47:56

Mooseymoo, I am starting to go off you I think! I have loved all the bargains and have spent saved a fortune BUT I was sorely tempted by the dp sale, only saved by the thought that I can't shut my wardrobe door so can't possibly need more clothes, even bargain ones! sad

Sarae2201 Tue 30-Oct-12 14:13:26

I've cancelled too, thanks for letting us know Moosey smile I only bought it as it was a bargain anyways!!

a few playmobil bargains on the official website.

kiwidreamer Tue 30-Oct-12 14:20:45

Free Delivery on ELC was automatic when I ordered half an hour ago smile

Sarae2201 Tue 30-Oct-12 14:31:18

Pastabee Tue 30-Oct-12 14:35:26

Sarae2201 Tue 30-Oct-12 14:35:48

Boots sell Happyland toys which are also on the 3 for 2 offer, so could work out cheaper than ELC, plus they have an extra points day this week, different days depending where you live where if you spend £50+ in store you get £12 worth of points

MooseyMoo Tue 30-Oct-12 14:49:15

aspiemum ah, you don't mean that smile I've only got a few under the christmas tree presents to go and then I'm done so won't be posting as much as I have been.

this is very cute

MistressIggi Tue 30-Oct-12 16:07:51

Got my paperjamz drums from entertainer, only ordered it on sunday so very impressed. It's much bigger than I'd thought it would be, kind of dwarfs the hex-ant I've bought for his brother sad - even though the ant was dearer!

Folicacid Tue 30-Oct-12 16:21:06

I've just bought the gruffalo from ELC too! My purse is screaming.

I just seem to keep adding to children's piles and adult men are being left well behind. Got so many lovely things from l'occitane and mb.

Don't go Moosey, we need you!

ShoopShoop Tue 30-Oct-12 16:31:18

Exactly the same here. DD's pile has just had the Gruffalo added to it (and I bought an extra two sets for her little friends). DH, DDad and DFiL have pretty much nothing in their piles. Sigh....

thanks for all the codes though!! Keep them coming! grin

oreocrumbs Tue 30-Oct-12 17:59:16

Moosey, don't desert us! I bet you can't anyway - this is a bit addictive isn't it grin.

Thanks for the tip Allalonenow, I will check out Lakeland too. Iirc there is a £5 code somewhere on one of these threads!

Eddas Tue 30-Oct-12 19:01:12

since findign Home Bargains on this thread and ordering from them I've been getting their weekly email. Have you seen this weeks? If you're looking for a christmas hamper basket they have some reasonable looking ones for £6.99 or £5.99 and there's a few other good looking offers on there too.

bleedingheart Tue 30-Oct-12 19:18:58

Home Bargains has a few decent children's DVDs on the website for £2.99 & £3.99, ordered Lego Clutch Powers for DS1 and Peppa Pig Winter Wonderland for DS2. Agree the baskets look good for hampers.

Not online, but Sainsburys have got 25% off clothing again, includes dressing up clothes and lots of nice winter woolly things, hats, scarves, etc. Till Monday.

MooseyMoo Tue 30-Oct-12 19:25:42
MooseyMoo Tue 30-Oct-12 19:35:43

Just bought a Christmas DVD from Home Bargains, which has 2 discs: littlest light on the christmas tree and night before christmas (mary englebreit version).

Reduced to £1.49 and 50p for postage so £1.99 in total.

<I will get a christmas DVD bargain!>

SminkoPinko Tue 30-Oct-12 19:35:45

Good god! Nearly got stung for delivery charges of almost £14 at zulily. For 2 items! What a total rip off.

Kelly281 Tue 30-Oct-12 19:44:06

EBay have posted a code on Facebook for 10% of toys (excluding p&p), when paying by PayPal. Code is CUKFB220

OhTheConfusion Tue 30-Oct-12 19:55:03

I need five christmas stockings... trying to find a 3for2 bargin or a really good deal?!? If not I will have nowhere to put all these bargins wink

oreocrumbs Tue 30-Oct-12 19:55:46

Sminko, have another bash at that with Zulilly. Delivery should be £3.95 for the first item and then anything else you buy that day gets free delivery.

Or send a query to their help desk. When I bought stuff from them I was only charged the £3.95.

It was a couple of months ago now, but I can't see them putting the delivery up to that much it is extortionate!

Have bought the gruffalo set - very happy.

What do 6 year old girls like? I need a small present for a little girl I don't know very well!

oreocrumbs Tue 30-Oct-12 19:59:43

OhTheConfusion, Home bargains had some nice felt ones for either £2 or £3. I think they only had 2 designs though. I've just had a look at the website and they are not on there, but if you have a local store you should have a look.

They had a few nice christmas bits actually, I got a few bits the other week.

SminkoPinko Tue 30-Oct-12 20:01:46

Thanks oreo, I'll have another look just in case as they were lovely items. I'm definitely not paying £14 to have them delivered though. I came so close to pressing "place order" on the final screen- luckily I glanced at down and saw the delivery fee just in time!

Am makin my own stockings this year but think I've done them a tad big now got to fill them. Any ideas on ss aged 8 he's lagging fifty quid behind Ds and sd in presents but I don't know what to get sad

oreocrumbs Tue 30-Oct-12 20:04:45

Ugg deals. I posted the link about them before but I can't remember what or where it was! I probably got the deal from the website I've linked.

All of the deals that are not faded should still be live, but obviously you will have to give them a try!

Also Office has 20% off I posted the code earlier today somewhere up there ^, so have a look there too.

Folicacid Tue 30-Oct-12 20:09:10

I joined zuilly last night to buy a wooden cake but the delivery charge was £10.95 <faints>

milkymocha Tue 30-Oct-12 20:10:16

Thank you oreo Although your link sent me to playdough? We do need playdough actually! grin

oreocrumbs Tue 30-Oct-12 20:14:31

Well, the playdoh set is a good one, I picked it up today and it's huuuge! Hang on a tick and I will get you the right link!

oreocrumbs Tue 30-Oct-12 20:15:08
Heavywheezing Tue 30-Oct-12 20:16:01

Regarding zuilly, it depends in what you order for delivery charge.
I don't know if you could manipulate it by ordering something cheap and then get the most expensive on the free delivery....

M&s have a lovely musical biscuit tin in the shape of a Xmas tree in their half price food offers£5, in store only, I think. They also have. Chocolates for £3.

SminkoPinko Tue 30-Oct-12 20:20:44

Sob- delivery still 13.95. So I will leave it for now.

oreocrumbs Tue 30-Oct-12 20:26:03

That seems very unfair. I ordered shoes, so they would be cheap to deliver, if you are getting a big toy it must be more. Suddenly the deals don't look so good, considering that Amazon et al offer free delivery and are usually close in price.

MistressIggi Tue 30-Oct-12 20:28:19

Ooh I want musical biscuit tins! A tenner on the website so will haul myself to a store.
Have bought a Chas n Dave Xmas CD for £4 on Amazon blush

Oh, I bought an M&S musical biscuit tin to make up 3 for 2 last year, it was beautiful but the music was excruciatingly out of tune and awful, I donated it to a raffle.

SminkoPinko Tue 30-Oct-12 20:33:38

I wanted a toddler's hoody and a small krooom cardboard castle so 13.95 really extortionate, imo. They look nice but not so nice I want to pay 1/3 more in postage.

Never mind. Plenty more fish in the sea thanks to these excellent threads.smile

MooseyMoo Tue 30-Oct-12 20:36:30

sminko have you tried just ordering one, and separate order for other? As you only pay postage nice per day?

MooseyMoo Tue 30-Oct-12 20:36:52

*once

Oreo my 6 year old girl likes any sort of arty crafty stuff, playdough, Hama beads, colouring sets (not babyish ones), also Moshi Monsters, Lego, all sorts of small creature toys (Zoobles etc).

Aspiemum2 Tue 30-Oct-12 20:43:18

My time to spa order arrived, well part of it. I have one free gift, delivered by courier at 8pm at night!! Do they normally dispatch separately? Seems expensive!

oreocrumbs Tue 30-Oct-12 20:53:47

Thanks WhoKnows. I saw some sequin art sets advertised that I thought looked cool - would that be the sort of thing? No idea what they cost though, but I'm sure I can track down a bargain!

OhTheConfusion Tue 30-Oct-12 20:58:09

Oreo, thanks I had looked on the website and my search returned a box of cadbury selection boxes grin. I will do a store search as I can't think of one near me but heres hoping!

Sminto I have never paid more than £4.20 delivery from Zulily, it seems to be pure luck on the items sad

craftynclothy Tue 30-Oct-12 20:59:50

Waitingforastartofall The stockings I made were huge as well. Pattern didn't look like it would be so big when it was just paper bu they're really deep. I've bought some pirate foam bath from Wilko's to try and fill them a bit. I also stick in some of the chocolate relatives buy blush and any cards with money in go in them too.

SminkoPinko Tue 30-Oct-12 21:02:03

Thanks, moosey. I did 2 orders and paid 3.95 delivery on first (but was able to use mumsnet20 code) then nothing on second. Not quite as bargainatious as I'd hoped but I like the items and have been looking out for the kroom castle.smile

SminkoPinko Tue 30-Oct-12 21:03:48

Agree with Hama beads. Was babysitting the other day for 5 and 8 year old girls and I was amazed at how absorbing they found them.smile

MooseyMoo Tue 30-Oct-12 21:06:47

Excellent sminko smile I would have fainted at £13 postage!

Oreo - yes, that's the sort of thing, just need to check the label as some are more suitable for older children, I was looking at some myself a while ago, in fact might look for one for DD. She was given this for her birthday Paintastics which was a huge hit, I have bought them for several of her friends' birthdays since and they have been well received.

Good plan crafty might buy some matey that should fill half up they are cute though

MooseyMoo Tue 30-Oct-12 21:11:35

oreo you're correct, I am addicted to finding bargains. Might need therapy after this thread!

VoldemortsNipple Tue 30-Oct-12 21:13:13

I ordered shoes from zulily a couple of weeks ago. I went to pay through PayPal and the postage was extortionate. I went back looking to see if there was a cheaper postage option but couldn't find it without going to checkout. So I clicked to pay using my debit card and delivery came up as 3.95.

Parrish Tue 30-Oct-12 21:21:22

Oreo can you post the play doh link again? Thanks!

iloveblue Tue 30-Oct-12 21:25:59

Yes, I had a similar problem with Zulily. Went to pay for some books via Paypal and they were going to charge me £10.95 for postage. I emailed them and was told to use my debit card but the deal had finished by that time.

iloveblue Tue 30-Oct-12 21:30:40

For those who are after craft sets Fred Aldous are doing free postage on orders over £10. They have loads of hama bits, plus lots of sale stuff. I've just noticed they've got Uni-ball scented pens reduced to £1 each which my DS's would love.

oreocrumbs Tue 30-Oct-12 21:36:31

Play doh. This was posted earlier on the thread and I bought it for DD. I'm very happy with it. A great starter set and a really good price, was over £30 on Amazon when I bought it.

I've had a look at the sequin art and they are a bit more than I wanted to pay (her baby brother is getting the £2.75 gruffalo book!). The paint by numbers thing looks good, so I might go with that. Off to have a look around Fred Aldous too. Thank you!

Looby12 Tue 30-Oct-12 21:37:18

.

Eddas Tue 30-Oct-12 21:43:38

[sad[ the christmas hamper baskets i mentioned earlier from home bargains are store collection only which is rubbish! I don't live anywhere near one so can't get one sad

pigleychez Tue 30-Oct-12 21:45:46

Just wanted to check with anyone with/ that knows an 11yr old girl.. Would nail varnish, nail stickers etc be suitable?

Seen some bits im thinking of on the Fragrance direct website that was linked to earlier.

AWimbaWay Tue 30-Oct-12 21:48:15

Can I ask a silly question about hama beads? My 6 year old would love them, but I don't quite get it, once you've ironed the beads do they come off the pegboard so you can reuse it or are they then stuck to the pegboard forever?

BeaWheesht Tue 30-Oct-12 21:49:58

They come off and you reuse the pegboard. Ds loves them. However if I were you I'd buy a big tub of ikea ones and a packet of ikea pegboards - soooooo much cheaper.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Tue 30-Oct-12 21:50:38

No you put the paper over them iron the top side side, lift off, flip over, remove board put paper on and iron then you take the paper off and reuse it.

Hope that makes sense.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Tue 30-Oct-12 21:52:36

Bea i have been looking at these beads for dd.

Looks like a good amount of beads and boards and reduced by £5.00

AWimbaWay Tue 30-Oct-12 21:53:45

Thank you, thought they must but thought I'd check before buying millions of beads and only a few boards!

My DCs (6 and 8) love Hama beads, I thought it would be a shortlived thing, they've been going strong with them for about 3 years now. I like doing them myself from time to time too. They're a bugger when they get spilled though, especially on hard floors, they roll everywhere. Very good for concentration, pattern recognition and fine motor skills.

Chockywockydoodah Tue 30-Oct-12 21:54:28

pigley my niece is 10 and I got her a cute boxed nail varnish set with bright colours and stickers. She LOVED it! I also got her an inexpensive charm bracelet and a lollipop shaped lip balm from Claires Accessories too which she loved. They have loads of nice things in Claires for that sort of age range like crazy flavoured lip balms and kitsch necklaces etc.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Tue 30-Oct-12 21:57:21

Bea been looking at these as well

DDs are 9 and 6 and they love beads but Whoknows is right, when they get dropped on the wooden floors i just hoover them up!!

BeaWheesht Tue 30-Oct-12 21:57:50

For anyone with a Gruffalo fan have a look here

BeaWheesht Tue 30-Oct-12 21:59:09

That Argos Hama deals great

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Tue 30-Oct-12 22:00:29

Yes i think i may get that one, free delivery on it too. You can pick up boards on ebay, our local independent toy shop sells lots too.

PersuedByPenguins Tue 30-Oct-12 22:12:40

I fancied getting DD Hama beads too... Would you recommend the Argos deal or the Ikea ones?

Hobbycraft do their own brand range of beads which are cheaper than Hama. They don't sell them in the same quantities, so you have to do some maths on the spot, but they are just the same.

Yes, we've got that box from Argos, we just top it up. It doesn't have any grids with it, you need to get them separately. My two have a mixture of the basic grids (squares, circles etc) and the specific, animal shaped ones. I just buy extra bags of beads in any colours we are getting sort of. They also get a new grid and bag of beads each in their Christmas stocking, this year they are getting glow in the dark beads.

We get ours from this website now, as we only want extras not whole kits now. craftmerrily, they have a sister website beadmerrily that has all sorts of patterns and ideas.

sweetkitty Tue 30-Oct-12 22:32:31

Not happy have been patiently waiting for Boots extra points days and the largest thing I want is out of stock but have found it on amazon but not 3 for 2!

oreocrumbs Tue 30-Oct-12 22:35:30

The little girl in question is coming over tomorrow so I shall probe a bit and make my decision because there are too many good ideas!

Bargain christmas dvd. Is this bargain enough? £5 for 3 mickey christmas films. Once upon a christmas, twice upon a christmas and mickey's magical christmas.

oreocrumbs Tue 30-Oct-12 22:37:18

Basil brush crazy christmas dvd £2 free del at HMV.

Boom boom sorry, couldn't help myself

MySecretSelf Tue 30-Oct-12 22:43:52

Has anyone seen any mothercare codes around?

everydayaschoolday Tue 30-Oct-12 22:59:28

Wilko do a little sets similar to Hama beads as part of their stocking filler stuff. They are quite sweet and are only £2 each.

insanityscratching Wed 31-Oct-12 06:42:49

Oreo sequin art sets are in home bargains for £3.99 but they aren't showing up online.

fruitcorner Wed 31-Oct-12 06:49:04

Sylvanian regency house now half price on Argos , £59 rather than £100 odd. Sorry can't link.

LaTrucha Wed 31-Oct-12 07:13:45

I'm feeling left out now as I got DD aquabeads. Have I made a mistake?

My DD has an aqua bead set as well as Hama beads and she has had a lot of use out of both. Aqua have the advantage of not needing an iron to stick them together.

oreocrumbs Wed 31-Oct-12 07:45:07

Thank you insanity thanks I will pop down tonight and see if they have some at my local store. Fingers crossed!

oreocrumbs Wed 31-Oct-12 07:49:26

A link to the sylvanian families hotel.

Argos also have the toy exchange on which will bring it down to £49.99.

They also have the voucher rewards on so if you spend more than £50 you get a £5 voucher.

So I would do the toy exchange and bring this down to 49.99 and buy something like a roll pf wrapping paper for £1 to take you back over the £50 and get a voucher.

oreocrumbs Wed 31-Oct-12 07:53:02

M&S Cava £2.63 a bottle if you buy 12. Ends today.

Here. Includes free delivery. Don't forget to go through quidco for cash back too.

Worth it for stocking up for the festive plonky season.

spookysal Wed 31-Oct-12 07:55:46

I've got dd1 sticky mosiacs for her 5th birthday as they get good reviews on Amazon.

Do you think she is a bit young for hama beads?

oreocrumbs Wed 31-Oct-12 07:56:46

Also tesco are starting 25% off 6 bottles of wine tomorrow apparently. Wonder if this will work with the voucher exchange on the finest wines?

Worth keeping you eyes peeled.

Argos Imaginext ocean boat half price £24.99

Piemistress Wed 31-Oct-12 08:26:21

Is imaginext an alternative to playmobil or totally différent?

BeaWheesht Wed 31-Oct-12 08:32:47

Spookysal - not at all ds has them and has done for a while and isn't six for another 2 months

LaTrucha Wed 31-Oct-12 08:36:57

Thanks for the boat link. Maybe that's DS sorted! Does anyone have it. It says from 3 but DS is 2.5. Ideas?

oreocrumbs Wed 31-Oct-12 08:37:44

They are similar I believe, but I'm not really sure. I know both are very popular and in demand!

marking my place- great idea for a thread

oreocrumbs Wed 31-Oct-12 08:39:56

I think 2.5 will be fine. My DD is 2.2 and I would get it for her (if I was still shopping for her).

Sal - my DD has been doing Hama beads since she was about 4.

Piemistress Wed 31-Oct-12 08:53:18

Thanks! Not sure if i should be giving him a mix of imaginext or playmobil or sticking to one!

spookysal Wed 31-Oct-12 09:02:32

Thanks Bea and WhoKnows, that's something else I can add to the list for a Christmas present.

spookysal Wed 31-Oct-12 09:09:39

Thinking of getting the beads from Argos. Are there are deals/codes for Argos

bleedingheart Wed 31-Oct-12 09:14:50

Up to 75% off at Ascension ethical living
No code required, might be good for socks and underwear for men's presents, postage £4.95.
Ordered DS(5) some converse-alikes for £6.25

bleedingheart Wed 31-Oct-12 09:19:59

Sorry incorrect link:

poozlepants Wed 31-Oct-12 09:33:15

Thanks for that Imaginext boat one. I have reserved mine to pick up.My Ds got his first Imaginext item when he was 2.5 and he loved it. I think the Imaginext stuff is really fantastic especially for the smaller ones as it's not so fiddly. DS has played with his Imaginext Batcave nonstop all year whereas he is only starting to play with his Playmobil castle that was ruinously expensive.
He says he wants the Imaginext castle but I'll get him the boat instead.

charlottehere Wed 31-Oct-12 09:34:15

LaTrucha Wed 31-Oct-12 09:36:04

Thanks for that poozle. I'm a bit hmm that the boat doesn't float. I'm pretty sure it will be getting into the bath with DS ...

Brand Alley have a converse sale on. Mainly men's and with limited sizes but I know they're popular so though I'd post it. I use the app so don't have a link smile

LaTrucha Wed 31-Oct-12 09:42:54

There's some great things on theat ascension website. You have to be lucky with sizes though.

EdsRedeemingQualities Wed 31-Oct-12 10:13:01

Thankyou very much for the Argos links - I'm humming and harring about the Sylvanian hotel. And wondering if it's compatible with Playmobil...

Ds2 has been eyeing up Sylvanians for a few weeks now. I think he woud like it.

3bunnies Wed 31-Oct-12 10:38:40

Just collected the lego vampyre castle, from argos, was 79:99 reduced to 59.99, took in some old toys for 5 pounds off, got a voucher to spend by end of nov for another 5 pounds. As long as I spend it on something useful like batteries which we will use anyway, it will be the equivalent of 50 pounds - that is what I have told dh!!! Also got the sun for 40p and got a free lego monster pouch picked up from toys r us - but can also get @ whsmiths, for one stocking, not sure if I can bring myself to buy it again for other two dc but offer is on until sunday.

Morning all. I've just been looking on Amazon for Christmas book ideas for DD - to read with her in the run up to Christmas (she's 14 months), and I came across this Lullaby Book with CD. I think it's lovely and would also make a really nice gift too. Quite a good price if you choose free delivery. No reviews yet but it is Usborne and in my experience they are usualy pretty decent books. I'm going to take a punt and order one I think.... grin

Well my Elemis Time to spa order has arrived. With no free gifts.

So it is going back. The small print says subject to availability, so I'm presuming they have sold out. Only I received an email not an hour ago offering me the same offer again.

Bad form Time to spa.

Will be returning my order.

Anyone found the santa claus box set ( one two and three) any cheaper than amazon or is that my best bet for £8.00. Its going in my christmas eve box

oreocrumbs Wed 31-Oct-12 14:27:08

I have another Molton Brown code for you.

GET3 for 3 free travel size tubes worth £24 when you spend £50.
GET5 for 5 free travel size tubes worth £40 when you spend £70.

Not as great as the other codes for getting cheap stuff, but a bargain if you are putting an order in.

Waiting it seems to £8 everywhere I've looked. Might be worth sticking it on your wish list for a couple of weeks to see if it drops. It's available all over so I don't think you will have a problem getting it if you wait a while.

caffeinated Wed 31-Oct-12 14:28:48

Waiting for a star I just checked my amazon history I bought the box set with 1 2 and 3 for £4.99 on December 3rd last year.

Pleased to help! These threads have been brilliant. my crimbo shopping is done now, got some lovely things for my DS he'll be thrilled with and got some great thrifty tips. That wine is such a bargain and tastes lovely, had some last year so we are über chuffed too.

Now I can relax, in under 5 weeks I'm due to give birth, been fixated on getting Christmas sorted so we can enjoy the run up (bleary eyed with a newborn!).

Lalou Wed 31-Oct-12 14:44:50

Very strange.

Aspiemum2 Wed 31-Oct-12 15:01:27

Why do they dispatch separately, and by courier too? Surely not economical. Ah well, I'll give it a week before I chase it up.

For anyone who remembers my saga with the entertainer, they still haven't taken payment back out again! I want to phone them to sort it out but a but worried they'll take it 3 times again!

MooseyMoo Wed 31-Oct-12 15:06:03

I will give time to spa another week to see if the free gifts turn up. I didn't realise they posted them seperatley.

Off to home Bargains to see if they have the sequin art in. I will have a scout around and see if there is anything else of note and report back!

spookysal Wed 31-Oct-12 17:05:27

Went in the Entertainer today and they have lotsof hama beads and puzzles half price.

In Tesco I picked up half price Halloween outfits for dressing up box. All reduced from £8 down to £1 - £3 each. Picked up clown, skeleton and a witch outfit that could pass as a princess gown (in the dc eyes anyway)

Also picked up a cheap Manadaville for dd1s stocking as a reminder of our trip to the Olympics in the summer.

spookysal Wed 31-Oct-12 17:11:58

I also picked up the felt Christmas cards from Mothercare that was recomended on one of the old threads so thanks for that.

Also picked up Pop Up Pirates from The entertainer, think that recomendation also came from these threads so thank you.

spookysal Wed 31-Oct-12 17:13:16

Just realised that I said Tesco outfits were half price, they were obv reduced more than that! Shopping has addled my brain.

oreocrumbs Wed 31-Oct-12 17:25:34

Home bargains had a poor showing today, lots of empty shelves so I think they must be re stocking.

No sequin art, but did find some bits of playmobil that might be of intrest

Ghost pirates £3.99

Treasure hunters camp £9.99

Clam £6.99

And another thing that was £7 but I can't remember!

Saw those penguin pillows in the flesh too they look good.

I bought a mens nivea set for £4 and a mini football table for BIL for £4.

Had a few mens stocking filler type gifts. Wooden and metal magic puzzles, mini football, golf and snooker, gadget keyrings.

Oreo hi there, I've just been looking at John Lewis site (for chocolate for my lovely DIL) but noticed they had a nice country cheese/pickle hamper for £25, maybe more classy than Lakeland.
I know my Dad was always more impressed when I sent him M&S hampers rather than stuff I had just collected myself!

PersuedByPenguins Wed 31-Oct-12 19:56:38

Oh no Moosey they're out of stock - I'm gutted sad

MooseyMoo Wed 31-Oct-12 20:05:17

Sorry sad I've only just ordered (hope it still comes through)

PersuedByPenguins Wed 31-Oct-12 20:20:14

I'm sure it will, it was a good spot! I think I might have a look in store hopefully they might still be in stock there smile

everydayaschoolday Wed 31-Oct-12 20:33:45

rhondajean Wed 31-Oct-12 20:34:04

My entertainer order finally arrived - two days late - I emailed them yesterday as they phoned me about last Wednesday to say the courier said my address didn't exist (does, I'm sat in it). Heard no more till I emailed yesterday and they got back this morning to say it was in th couriers van and would be delivered by 5.30, which it was, but no one in and the courier left in the recycling bin! The entertainer have been really helpful but their courier is crap.

On the good side, it's the paper jamz drums, I had no idea they were so big! Am well impressed and very very happy. Hooray. They are for dd1 and at 13 all her parcels are small and mega pricey compared to dd2's huge 8 year old pile of massive cheap boxes, so very happy to add volume.

rhondajean did you get the kindle yet? I posted an offer at tescos up there ^ if thats any good?

Allalone now, thank you I will have a wander over to JL and check them out! Will probably order myself lots of delicious things to eat while on the hunt for the perfect hamper grin

DorisIsWaiting Wed 31-Oct-12 20:57:07

Dosey Wed 31-Oct-12 21:06:34

Hi there I too had an order come today from the Entertainer. I am very impressed with them. In with the order is a leaflet with some good bargains. They have twister dance for £21.60. Which is a good price, it seems to be one of the popular toys this year and lots of places are out of stock. They also have a box if 150 magic tricks reduced from £20 to £5. Moon sand delights bake shop reduced from £23.00 to £11.50 and loads of other stuff.

I am sorry I don't know how to do links I am just reading the offers from the leaflet in front of me. Might be worth checking this website. I am just going to order twister dance before it sells out.

duende Wed 31-Oct-12 21:12:58

oreo thaks for the tesco kindle codes, i just bought a kindle and a case for my best friend for £63 savng myself £20 smile

rhondajean Wed 31-Oct-12 21:13:01

I haven't yet oreo. I would have been really tempted by the tesco offer which is the best I've seen, but I'm still hanging on grimly for the double Argos vouchers deal as I now have £75 on my nectar card again....So free kindle plus money off the mini fridge plus £20 back in Argos vouchers...just wish it would hurry up!!

crikeybadger Wed 31-Oct-12 21:14:07

Oh no, loved the price of those little mugs but they are all gone now.

whoneedstosleep Wed 31-Oct-12 21:19:45

I've missed the kindle offer--away to search thread for it seeing as I left mine in a hotel last weekend! sad

PersuedByPenguins Wed 31-Oct-12 21:30:55

Any suggestions on where to get a good deal on a ladies lightweight cotton dressing gown?

MistressIggi Wed 31-Oct-12 21:34:33

Bought several M&S Xmas tree biscuit things (music isn't that bad!) today. Also some cheap moon dough in Sainsburys, but ds1 was with me so had to hand it over hmm And 25% off clothes is still on - got sleeping bag and cute (and unnecessary) outfit for ds2.
Now hunting a digital photo frame for MIL..

That's a great tip about the Superdrug stamps, never knew that before thanks

rhondajean Wed 31-Oct-12 21:34:35

Just seen an advert - Argos vouchers offer is on this weekend but not the double ones, £5 with £50 and £10 with £100 spend, so I think I will finally get the kindle!

Also buy one get one free on Christmas drinks in Starbucks until Monday if anyone is out and about grin

oreocrumbs Wed 31-Oct-12 21:43:53

Oh yes they are on now rhonda. Was in argos this afternoon. Clean forgot about it!

rhondajean Wed 31-Oct-12 21:44:00

Oh ffs kindle is now out of stock for 20 miles.

I'm starting to feel this is not meant to be.

3bunnies Wed 31-Oct-12 21:50:03

rhondajean I got that offer instore today, 5 pounds off a 50 pound spend, plus I took a small bag of baby toys and got a 5 pound voucher which I used in store as an instant saving. Will use the other 5 pound voucher for batteries or some such 'essential' to justify the cost!

oreocrumbs Wed 31-Oct-12 21:58:33

Argh never! Do you have to do it instore to use your nectar points? If you can use them online there is one in a store near me I could collect and post on?

Thanks for the starbucks tip! Have just arranged a coffee with a friend for the monring grin

LaTrucha Wed 31-Oct-12 22:00:24

3 bunnies - could you use them together?

LaTrucha Wed 31-Oct-12 22:03:01

Just thought it through and probably not..

pigleychez Wed 31-Oct-12 22:03:41

Just wanted to say a big Thumbs up to the people fromwww.thespicery.com/

Following a post on one of the earlier threads about them I ordered my Dad the monthly gift subscription for xmas. I stupidly ordered the wrong thing! blush Fantastic friendly customer service in changing it for me so very easily.
Would recommend them!

rhondajean Wed 31-Oct-12 22:06:55

I think it has to be in store. I'll keep checking for them coming back into stock and if not mibbe go for a day out on Saturday. The good news is the mini fridges are still reduced grin

3bunnies Wed 31-Oct-12 22:31:19

Can't use them together as didn't get the 5 pound one until I had spent over 50 pounds, hence justifying my spend by promising myself that I will look in the clearance I will only spend the fiver on sensible things like batteries, so in my mind saving ten pounds in total, rather than spending 50! Have just realised that if we are at my parents for Christmas they probably won't approve of the monster themed lego (Halloween etc banned at our house when growing up), opps!! Will make dh happier about the spend, he loves things which wind them up!

Just put in an order using PUMPKIN with book people for free delivery at any price. Only til midnight tonight. Now just have one couple to buy for, dh and my mother (though she will only want something small). Then I must cut up my card, oh but no, dd1 + dd2 birthdays in feb, will just have to keep on spending! Oh and can never have enough stocking fillers!

spookysal Wed 31-Oct-12 22:31:40

I just ordered a wizards outfit for the dressing up box I'm putting together for a Christmas present from M&S. Thanks for the tip fitbyforty smile

Also ordered some of the singing rhyme books that were recomended on here (5 little speckled frogs etc) so thank you.

The Halloween decorations are also reduced in M&S and still on a 3 for 2 which is applied at checkout. But I think they are selling out fast. I bought three packs of glow braclets for bonfire night and to stick in the stockings. Also added some new decorations for next Halloween.

ScorpionQueen - I work for Clarks, we have vouchers in the shop with the code on them.

BuffyFairy Thu 01-Nov-12 00:28:55

Thanks for the Starbucks tip - I'm meeting a friend for coffee on Friday.

I know they don't pay their share of tax but they are the only coffee shop near me that sell gluten free sandwiches.

I want to order the half price pumpkin outfit from m&s for dd next year but fx it's still in stock tomorrow. They don't give cashback from mobiles!

Not so much of a bargain but a warning...

Apparently comet are looking like they might go into administration as early as this week according to Martin Lewis on the moneysavingexpert site. No guarantees that it will happen but strong likelihood. sad

So don't buy comet gift vouchers as there's a good chance they will be worth diddly squat.

And I assume that if you have any vouchers lying around, then use them quickly as they often stop taking them if a company goes into administration

3bunnies Thu 01-Nov-12 04:26:57

Ok, own up guys, whose broken the Argos clearance website with their massive demands? And I wanted to spend my 5 pound gift voucher on a bargain, looks like it's batteries then.

Fisher Price up to 50% off at Argos. They've got the Little People Noah's ark on offer which is very popular.

SurvivalOfTheUnfittest Thu 01-Nov-12 08:41:16

Have been lurking since the first thread but can't post from my phone and haven't found any amazing deals either, until now. Thank you for the codes and deals that have helped us get free postage from the Red House, money off at ToysRus, etc..

Using the £12 of points off a £75 spend online at Boots offer, which finishes tonight, I have bought the Falcon Knights Playmobil castle for what amounts to £52, once I'd added in another couple of household bits to take it over £75. They have it at 20% off, so the points off on top makes it the best deal I've found. I can't remember which of the threads it was on previously, but suspect this is competitive.

MooseyMoo Thu 01-Nov-12 08:50:49

reastie the gruffalo gift set is lovely. I personally would give it on its own.

beingginger Thu 01-Nov-12 13:25:48

I've got it for DH cousins baby and i'm not adding anything else to it

reastie Thu 01-Nov-12 13:28:13

Great, I was close to buying a really sweet pair of dungarees in the Jojo sale as well they were so cheap it seemed silly not to but I stopped myself on the thought that there's not point in spending money when I don't have to, even if it is on something amazingly bargainous!

Also, if you're shopping on zulilly and are tempted by the jean patrique cookware, look for his website, where they are all much much cheaper!

reastie Thu 01-Nov-12 14:17:49

Hmm, latrucha I've just read some threads on MSE on Jean Patrique Knives and problems various people have had with delivery etc from them, so be careful on that score, it might be fine, but I feel a bit hmm after reading the threads (google him and they come up near the top of the search results).

Arithmeticulous Thu 01-Nov-12 14:44:54

So, and my Time to Spa stuff has arrived - well, some of it - the free gifts have, separately, in large jiffy bags (for a titchy teeny tiny lonely tube, each) - but no sign of the thing I actually paid for. How can they run a business like that?

ilove christmas books definitely don't count smile besides you an bring them out every Nov/Dec for a good few years. This is the first year that DD is old enough to enjoy the run up to christmas. Dolce Gusto Half price at Tesco. Bought this for DB a couple of years ago and went down very well!

did someone have a code for clarks shoes? I have had a look through the thread but cant see anything. Also, are there any uk stockists for elf on the shelf?

I bought the iPad 3 from the Apple refurb store - it has the same warranty as a new iPod, new battery and new outer shell, but it was £120 off. It looks shiny and new!

Lots of good reductions on other Apple products too.

tulip27 Fri 02-Nov-12 09:58:43

I have got some Cashmere Baby Presents from Olivier Baby

Murtette Fri 02-Nov-12 10:15:21

Bah! You've gone and bought all of ELC's stock of the Jolly Xmas Postman book. I don't blame you all as it was a complete steal but I now need to find another present for the umpteen children aged between about 3 and 6 who I spend about a fiver on. And they've also sold out of the Happyland Sherwood Forest which had been my other way of getting my basket up to £75... although I can wait for that I was getting it for DS's birthday which isn't until May!

oreocrumbs Fri 02-Nov-12 11:08:22

One of my Elmis free gifts has turned up, so fingers crossed the second will!

The Gruffalo set came too. Its has been crushed. This happened with my last order from elc too. I get tonnes of stuff delivered and the only company I have problems with are ELC. So now I have to go to a store on monday and complain. Again.

lucamom Fri 02-Nov-12 11:28:28

murtette for the umpteen children I buy for like you, I've gone for the personalised face cloths (link in op) which are gorgeous, and made a little package of flannel and either lego/jelly baby/gingerbread man soap/bath bomb for older girls or small bath toy for babies (someone recommended the soap seller in this or previous thread (thanks!) if you search back, or try www.thepamperpantry.co.uk - beautifully wrapped handmade soaps), which I've put in little cellophane parcels tied with ribbon. Works out at between £3-4 per child, but looks more and is personalised.

I've nearly done and saved a fortune, so a big thanks to all those who've taken the time to share codes and offers, it's very appreciated (and heartwarming!)

LaTrucha Fri 02-Nov-12 13:39:49

murtette - I think the for £5 on Mr Men books + code for money off and 99p delivery is good.

MooseyMoo Fri 02-Nov-12 13:41:05

MooseyMoo Fri 02-Nov-12 13:47:33

arithmeticulous still nothing on ELC. mothercare have 20% off with RNLH when you spend over £15.

I'm guessing ELC will have a new code when E4HD finishes which is 4th Nov. I was sent an individual code for DS (first bday in Nov)

Oreocrumbs - the clarks code was BETERM, it only works on adults shoes and bags though! smile

ShoopShoop Fri 02-Nov-12 13:53:16

ShoopShoop Fri 02-Nov-12 13:58:37

reastie I ordered a present for myself from Zulily this morning blush....one of those lovely satchel bags. I followed your link, so I hope you get something for referring me smile

reastie Fri 02-Nov-12 14:04:10

Right, I'm not sure how this worked but I bought chocs from the thorntons 5 boxes for £20 deal and then topped the basket up to £25 with 3 of the 3 for £5 blocks of chocolate (but I assume you could buy anything for at least £5 for it to work), used the code WEL7 and the basket was the same as buying the 5 boxes (I paid £20 plus £3.95 postage), so effectively I've just got £5 worth of chocolates free using the WEL7 code, on top of the great 5 boxes for £20 deal. They also have a lovely chocolate advent calendar in the 5 for£20 too - got one for DH grin - almost seems too good to be true! But that's a fair few mens gifts sorted.

reastie Fri 02-Nov-12 14:05:03

Ohh thanks shoop - I was admiring those satchel bags this morning!

reastie Fri 02-Nov-12 14:08:25

ShoopShoop Fri 02-Nov-12 14:30:20

reastie Fri 02-Nov-12 14:44:28

shoopshoop I know! I've lost over 3 stone this year and I don't think buying a huge chocolate order is going help me keep it off! Btw email order confirmation is now though so I have hope it really will be as good a deal as it sounds grin

ShoopShoop Fri 02-Nov-12 14:48:55

reastie are you me?! I've been on a post baby weight loss mission and have lost 44 pounds. I expect to put a fair bit on over Christmas, but chocolate in the house in early November would be bad news for me.....grin. Very pleased the code worked for you though - what a bargain!

Valid until 18th November

DorisIsWaiting Fri 02-Nov-12 19:24:05

mynameis I have had a nightmare in the last 24 hrs with the voucher exchange. I had to clear my cookies to order them, then wait 2 hours last night til the email arrived (fortunately by adding everything to my shopping basket before i oredered the vouchers meant that I could order (some were showing out of stock when It finally arrived) I was midnight before I went to bed but it's done with some good deals.

Then this morning the last lego friends thing I wanted (as a gift from PILto DD's!) came back into stock so had the palaver all over again. I had to delete all the codes I had used yesterday which kept appearing in my basket automatically and put the new code in ( another 2 hours wasted!) Hey ho it was half price and I haven't spent any money.

If you need help and have Facebook the tesco page has people on through the night (someone respond after 10pm last night to me).

rhondajean Fri 02-Nov-12 19:31:54

Frontpaw Fri 02-Nov-12 19:51:30

I think we have such a charger that came with a camera... Or will an i-pad one do?

Yes, they fit in a standard USB plug same as for an Ipad.

I do hope mil likes it now...

AriNi31 Fri 02-Nov-12 21:08:53

There are all sorts of novelty socks and stuff on there.

LaTrucha Fri 02-Nov-12 21:36:29

Tesco have wine on 3 for £12, bought 12 and they then were discounted by 25% on each bottle at original price of £10 per bottle ( offer is 25% off 6 bottles) bought online and total at checkout was £48, when delivered was £18. Just ordered 12 more white for delivery tomorrow. Offer ends tomorrow. Available in store too, wine was Ogio merlot there is a Chardonnay too. This is a glitch in the system discussed on mse. Wine would not be worth £10 per bottle but a bargain at £1.50, sorted for Xmas now!

LaTrucha Sat 03-Nov-12 07:08:50

Thanks 3bunnies.

ohhh zulily have some half price smart trikes and scooters today and play dough tomorrow. Shame it isn't this time last year as I spent nearly as much on a second hand smart trike as a couple of the new ones there shock

Penguinbeaver Sat 03-Nov-12 08:51:11

Ooo reastie thinking of getting the smart trike through your link, what age would you say the can use them till? Thanks

BuffyFairy Sat 03-Nov-12 08:51:39

aspergers when did you order the wine? Afaik Tesco's discovered the glitch later on Thurs so you can't get the deal now. Someone linked the Telegraph article further up thread.

Would be great if it's still working smile

reastie Sat 03-Nov-12 08:58:11

penguin DD is 20 MO and still uses hers alot - she isn't yet old enough to push the foot bits herself and move herself around without the parent handle (as the handle can come off so it's a trike on it's own if you want when they're older), so I'm imagining she'll be on it for a good couple of years yet, but maybe someone with an older child could offer more help on this. I find it's great when she resists the buggy as she seems to love going places in her trike!

Oodcantthinkofanewname Sat 03-Nov-12 09:01:10

The wine is coming up as sold out anyway sad

aspergersrus Sat 03-Nov-12 09:05:23

Buffy, was delivered yesterday and more to be delivered tomorrow, it's still working for me.

aspergersrus Sat 03-Nov-12 09:09:18

Just checked wine still I stock for home delivery here but limited to 6 bottles, check local stores, I did read on Mse that it should work on all 3 for £12 deals and that it is a short promotion so tesco are letting it run

BuffyFairy Sat 03-Nov-12 10:31:56

Aspergers thanks for that. I'll give it a try!

MistressIggi Sat 03-Nov-12 11:02:52

I believe cheap wine deals are not legal in Scotland, so can't benefit. Pah.
Penguin, ds1 used his smart trike till he got a bike at 3. He still used it as a trike every now and then after that - probably still would if I hadn't wanted space in the cupboard! Will use with ds2 when he's 10 months, if I can find all the bits.

schilke Sat 03-Nov-12 11:36:16

There is a pink elephant, a raccoon, a brown bear, a panda, a lion, a hippo, a cat and a dog.

www.poundstretcher.co.uk/ there is a picture of a couple of their homepage.

yes The Spicery but I just tried to order and the code didn't work, maybe a glitch on the site, or me being stupid.

Hiya, I'm looking for deals on the lego star wars millenium falcon, cheapest at the mo is £97 on amazon (£89.99 in tesco but OFS) - typically it was £70+ last week in various places but I've been paid today and there's no sign of a good deal!

LaTrucha Sat 03-Nov-12 18:24:04

oh cobblers - you need to put in a link. smile

oreocrumbs Sat 03-Nov-12 18:40:11

The tesco clubcard exchange - was it always the case that if you want to buy something that costs £39.97 - you could only use £30 worth of vouchers?

I'm sure it wasn't before, but today being the kind and tight boss that I am I went to tesco to buy a new microwave for the staff using my vouchers. I exchanged £20 and got £40 vouchers and then they wouldn't let me buy the microwave because you have to spend over the voucher amount apparently?

Next price microwave was £55 so no chance was I paying that when I had already sacrificed my vouchers, I could have bought one from the cash and carry for £35.

I got it in the end, after creating a fuss in a big queue asking to speak to the manager. He allowed it this once because I was upset. I wasn't I was furious, very dangerous to misread me grin. But I'm sure I haven't had this before.

Is it new? And if so - be aware that you have to spend over the voucher amount or make a scene wink

reastie Sat 03-Nov-12 18:51:17

I've checked the online t and CS for tesco exchange and I'm afraid that it does say that's right.

The value of the items must be equal to or exceed the value of the tokens after any discounts.

Does seem a bit rubbish doesn't it.

VoldemortsNipple Sat 03-Nov-12 19:58:44

For anybody with teenagers to buy for, Costco has 4 ten pound vue cinema vouchers for 33 pound.

Eddas Sat 03-Nov-12 22:54:12

Yep I had the Tesco exchange thing a couple of years ago. Had exchange toy vouchers for say £20 and had to spend £20, not £19.99 or £18, either exact or slightly more than the value. I did query it and said I wasn't expecting change but it wasn't allowed.

The clubcard thing has been around for a while i.e has to be same or more than voucher value.

However I'm not complaining as I got over £130 of lego friends and Sylvanian Families stuff for £5.95! (some of it is from MIL too!)

MistressIggi Sun 04-Nov-12 08:42:28

Argh, not a gift I know but need a new cot mattress for the baby - had hoped mothercare code would work but it didn't (toys only perhaps?) Hmm, maybe can use topcashback..

I want to buy my DD a Le Creuset cast iron casserole, the wide shallow one that can go on the stove top. Any discount sites I should know about?

buttonspoon Sun 04-Nov-12 09:09:53

Hiya you can also use code DHQ3 for ELC along with the code EJDA for 20% off - they each work for some things and not for others. I just bought a load of art stuff like paint and paper and DHQ3 worked but not EJDA. I think DHQ3 might only be valid today though...

Arithmeticulous Sun 04-Nov-12 09:12:40

I can't get the ELC code to work, but all the same stuff I want is in the Mothercare site too, and that card works - except there's a delivery charge so the difference is 95p hmm

Arithmeticulous Sun 04-Nov-12 09:14:10

Ah - X post. DHQ3 does work - it's 20% off all toys not just ones over £15

Home and bargains had the unicorn pillow pet at 4.99 toomany but they dont have it now they are stocking the penguin snuggs pillow which is the same as pillow pets. I can vouch for the softness as mine turned up yesterday

mignonete - the best discount on Le Creuset I've found is when Debenhams do a 20% off offer. I don't know if there is one before Christmas. There's usually a code for free delivery about too.., ATM it's SHD1

RollingThunder Sun 04-Nov-12 10:27:44

Arithmeticulous Sun 04-Nov-12 10:29:30

John Lewis are price matching on Le Creuset today, so I assume someone else - Debenhams perhaps are having 20% off?

reastie Sun 04-Nov-12 10:39:16

migonete I've seen some nice le creuset stuff in my local tk maxx store too, if you have one near you.

Best places to get moshi monster 3ds, batman 2 3ds and angry birds trilogy 3ds. I have a littlewoods account but no offers on and the batman one is £49!. Very have all 3 at more acceptable prices but i dont really want to open another account. Was hoping to use some kind of money off code...

LaTrucha Sun 04-Nov-12 10:48:59

Also amazon worth checking for Le Creuset. Almost always at the shop 20% price, so a mug that is £11 full price in Debenhams or JL will be £8.80 plus free del.

Can you tell what my bro is getting for Christmas? wink

p.s. Gap 30% off invites still up for grabs.

Has anyone seen any nice vehicle logo t'shirts? I've checked all my usual (JL, next, debenhams, boden, GAP) and I don't love anything.

ScorpionQueen Sun 04-Nov-12 10:52:22

Littlewoods is rarely the best place to buy as they hike their prices to cover the interest they pretend they're not charging. They used to be a lot more generous with their discount codes, which made shopping with them worthwhile, but I've not had one in over a year.

Very is the same company, slightly cheaper as they charge more interest and postage unless you collect it.

Waiting I found the cheapest for Moshi Them Park Ltd Ed 3DS was Sainsburys online about a week ago (£27.99 free deliv. vs £32.99 in store and about £34 on Amazon). There is a non Ltd Edn version which is a bit cheaper everywhere. Not sure about the others.

I think ill have to accept that im not going to get discounts, found the batman for about £22 on amazon, moshi your right is 27.99 whoknows and not sure about angry birds its proving difficult. I only shop at littlewoods for the stuff i cant really get anywhere else but like you said they have had no offers at all this year apart from free yankee candle

I could kiss you gregssausageroll I had a filofax when I was younger and I loved it. I've treated myself, can be a Christmas present from 6mo DD! grin

dancemom Sun 04-Nov-12 13:03:23

Can anyone help?

Im trying to purchase some offers from The Body Shop but i dont seem to be able to enter more than one promo code

Eg - i have chosen 5 min items and entered the mini discount code but when i go to add the shower gels i cant enter the shower gel code, dont want to do separate transactions as i will be charged delivery for each one

Can anyone tell me what im doing wrong?

I've always found you can only use one code with the Body Shop. Even with delivery these deals are good, I did the shower gels last week, £3 plus £2.99 delivery minus £1.20 cashback from Quidco meant they were only £1.60 each.

Just checked Body Shop T&Cs in case, you cannot combine codes.

dancemom Sun 04-Nov-12 13:30:51

I just want to warn any of you that don't know that curry, pc world and comet are all part of the same company. Anyone who purchased the pack of wooden fruit reduced to 99p with a code form kidstoyworld (I think) - have you had your order yet? I placed the order last Monday and haven't had anything saying it's been dispatched (although I realise some places don't do that). Just feeling a bit itchy it's been nearly a week and no news since initial confirmation email.

reastie Sun 04-Nov-12 18:18:15

Just nosing on the TKMAxx clearance and this guess bracelet is quite heavily discounted - a teenage girl would really love that I think.

confuugled Sun 04-Nov-12 18:41:47

Another vote here for trying tk maxx for le creuset. Guess that means it might be worth trying home sense too as I think they are in the same group of companies.

(but pretty sure that comet is not in the same group of companies as pc world and currys as suggested below...)

Also if anyone is looking for skylanders, play.com is doing big deals on a Monday. Last week their Monday deals included several skylander characters for £3.50 which I think is amongst the cheapest I've seen them. No guarantee they will have them this Monday but last year things used to pop up several times in the run up to Christmas even if they weren't in every week. Could well be worth signing up for their special offer emails as a reminder to check them out.

rhondajean Mon 05-Nov-12 08:27:19

Dixons and Currys are the same Oreo and I think pc world too could it be that?

Where should I go on Amazon to find the flash deals? Sleep deprived.....

AWimbaWay Mon 05-Nov-12 08:44:16

Is anyone else having trouble with the new zullily code? I ordered some lego this morning but couldn't get the code to work, ordered anyway as I had a £10 voucher and there was only one of the items left so thought I didn't have time to mess around trying to get the code to work.

LaTrucha Mon 05-Nov-12 08:44:50

Not sure if this has been mentioned already but TK Maxx have got some great bargains on their website - just got my SIL a beautiful leather Osprey purse for £19.99 saving £55 on RRP! They have quite a few here along with other good brands and deals.

I couldn't get zulily code to work yesterday either. Have emailed them to ask - will let you know if I hear back.

buttonspoon Mon 05-Nov-12 10:27:28

I didn't find a free delivery code sadly but I ordered two (one as spare for me ) so thought the delivery was worth it...!

cat811 Mon 05-Nov-12 10:35:40

After lurking here through all the threads and getting lots of ideas, thought I'd post something myself...someone mentioned that Sainsbury have 1/3 off their gift sets - I found this today - www.sainsburys.co.uk/sol/shop/home_and_garden/gifts/123057728_guinness_world_records_rubber_band_car_set.html which is only 3.99 instore at the minute, and looks perfect for men that you're stuck for (or is for me anyway!) - you build this little car and then it has everything you need to try and beat the guiness world record for how far it travels. Good for competitive guys who seem to have everything they want and need!

Hexbug nano £2.93 on play.com don't know what colours etc just ordered 6 for DS1's stocking and his friends friends birthday/christmas gifts.

LaTrucha Mon 05-Nov-12 11:30:08

Thanks for tip about boys' tops CarpeDiem. I haven't yet checked Zara.

confuugled Mon 05-Nov-12 11:32:22

kateecass - that seems expensive for the Roald Dahl set...

It's usually £16 in The Book People

Unfortunately it's out of stock and they don't think they will be getting it back in before christmas but if you are able to get a different book set now could you give the Roald Dahl one for a birthday?

(we have the Roald Dahl one from the BP, came in a nice strong card case for the books so looked like a proper set. The have had it in for ages, would guess it is one of their best sellers and will be back in, other times they have had that message on a book (or set of books) it means it is usually going to come back into stock... otherwise it just disappears from their listings!

They have lots of others good book sets on there at the moment. The ones that are in their current range are usually as cheap as you'll find anywhere. (they do carry some stuff that is current but not in their main range but prices only tend to be a pound or two off)

Frontpaw Mon 05-Nov-12 11:49:49

We've bought a few box sets if books from the Book People and Red Door. Definately worth a look as you can also get a 'mixed' set of books which work out at about £1 or two each!

M+S have their bug 500g box of sweeties for £4 (usually 10 and more recentky £5) and their big choccy boxed for a fiver! I may need to buy to sample them.

everydayaschoolday Mon 05-Nov-12 13:55:07

concur with other comments on Roald Dahl books - I bought the Roald Dahl 15-book box set in sturdy cardboard box for £16 at Red House (affiliated with Book People) 3 months ago. Had a check in Red House and, like the Book People, are out of stock at the moment. I saw children's boxsets in TKMaxx last week (Enid Blyton's St Claire's etc) for v good price (£10 for 6-book St Claire's boxset I think) but I can't remember if they had Roald Dahl - worth a look?

R.E the vtech code more info here. By the looks of it there was a problem with asda. They are listing the deal as expired now, but the comments say when people have phoned asda they have said it should be ok by tomorrow morning. So I think we will have to see what unfolds.

rhonda That is probably what I was thinking of, but with my mind it could be anything! Random bits of information wander in and out at will grin.

Am going to bitch about Early Learning Centre now, went to a store to exchange that gruffalo book - not in stock so rang customer services, had the most useless drip who wanted me to complain to city link. Asked to speak to a manager, one will call me back. When? I ask, dunno. Who? I ask, dunno. So I said I want a call back before 12.30 because I was working and busy after that. No call back, so bitched on my business twitter, and got a message saying give us your number and we will ring you. 3 hours later, as I was driving home I have a missed call which might be them, but I don't know because it came up unknown number.

Not happy at all. Does anyone know where you get the phone number that bypasses the customer service centre and goes straoght to spomeone who will take your call?

Heartbeep Mon 05-Nov-12 16:33:26

Thanks for the debenhams codes, saved quite a bit on my order.

AWimbaWay (& anyone else who's interested), I had a response from Zulily about the code - it's once only. Wish I'd known as I might have saved it for a big shop!

Goneshopping Mon 05-Nov-12 20:35:50

Need dart tag speedload 6 - £5 at Amazon & John Lewis. Apparently RRP is £ 14.18.

A good tip for finding bargains is to look at the 'best seller' toys in Amazon & 'movers & shakers'. You can quite often find a heavily discounted toy but prices do change very quickly. If you want to see if the price Amazon are selling for is good its worth checking out Amazon price tracker which will show you recent price movements.

I don't suppose anyone has a code for Joules?

Thanks for Debenhams code, Moosey and whoever pointed to play.com. Got 4 hexbug nanos for £11 free delivery.
Can anyone remember what's worth looking out for on Black Friday? I was thinking dsi or wii games, worth waiting until then?

If you do use your vouchers, have a back up plan too!

Aspiemum2 Mon 05-Nov-12 20:52:42

Ah, good to know Mooseymoo, thanks. Last things on my list are a few 3ds and wii games. Trouble is they add up! Any bargains on new release games to be had?
