I am well into my christmas shopping now grin . Just wondering if we can share any good reductions online for those early organisers. I got some lovely body lotion from L'occitaine last week 70% off plus a code for free shower gel and I've already used half a pot of one of the lotions already blush but I just checked and it's finished sad .

I remember last year I got a practically free tin of celebrations from viking direct via here and on the look out for bargains and was hoping people would share.

If you have someone who would like dove toiletries see this thread for 30 of free dove stuff from ocado (I've already ordered mine probably use it myself though

BeaWheesht Thu 16-Aug-12 10:31:25

I dont have any bargains but I keep an eye on

reastie Thu 16-Aug-12 11:53:31

Thanks for links bea <takes a seat waiting for any other ideas>

DoubleMum Thu 16-Aug-12 12:57:07

There's a very decent breadmaker half price at Amazon right now;

reastie Thu 16-Aug-12 13:31:26

Wow double, shame we already have a fully functioning breadmaker and I'm too tight to spend that much on someone for christmas grin

starjules Thu 16-Aug-12 22:11:00

ELC have happyland stuff (and plenty of others) at great prices and if you use bluebird as the promotional code you get another 20% off. Just done my 2nd order of the month from there!

reastie Fri 17-Aug-12 14:45:34

Thanks starjules - have bought a couple of happyland race tracks for christmas gifts which were already half price grin

flapperghasted Fri 17-Aug-12 16:27:49

I always check out Home Bargains online. It's great for stocking fillers and home delivery is relatively inexpensive if you buy a number of things. I tend to go for home cleaning stuffs, foodstuffs and then add on any toys, etc, spreading the cost of delivery over as many items as possible.

I also google anything I'm thinking of buying as you can often find it cheaper if you have a good root around. John Lewis can be surprisingly bargainous at times, and Debenhams ALWAYS have an 'up to 70% off' section. It can be really handy for jewellery, make up, etc.

reastie Fri 17-Aug-12 16:40:05

Home bargains online - never heard of it <holds down hands>

I've just got this bubble rocket from the works for only £3.99 for DHs niece - looks like it's quite good.

BeaWheesht Fri 17-Aug-12 18:14:38

The bubble rocket looks ideal for ds. Is it just a use one time thing??

reastie Fri 17-Aug-12 19:02:45

Sorry bea I have no idea, but even if it is it's a good price (if it were rrp for one time use product not sure it would be such good value). Can let you know when it arrives if you like when I've had the chance to read the labels

starjules Fri 17-Aug-12 22:48:19

Home bargains were getting all their Xmas toys in today. They were putting them out earlier. Tesco have got mega blox 100 boxes in pinks or normal for £3.50. I only got one but wish I had gotten more now! I also got a Disney cars construction thing in the Argos sale for £2.49 instead of £10. I've got nearly all the little ones things now.

starjules Fri 17-Aug-12 22:54:37

I know the happyland stuff at half price and the extra 20% is fantastic. Forgot to mention that amazon have the al Murray pub quiz game for £3.49 delivered. I do love a bargain!

BeaWheesht Sat 18-Aug-12 22:36:30

Halfords have talking plush star wars keyrings for £1 just now.

Tesco, instore only also have Super Mario Bros for DS at £5

myBOYSareBONKERS Sun 19-Aug-12 07:37:45

Have a look at the facebook selling pages in your local area - I have managed to pick up a few bargains that way

everydayaschoolday Sun 19-Aug-12 08:18:39

I'm not a member of the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) but I do buy and sell at their biannual Nearly New Sales.

Just wanted to let everyone looking for christmas bargains know that the Autumn sale in my area (Lincoln) has just been advertised for 6th Oct, and most other regions are normally around the same time.

There are normally LOADS of toys and books at the Autumn sale (in expectation of christmas) and they're clean and in good condition (Nearly New), and of course Christmassy and seasonal clothing.

everydayaschoolday Sun 19-Aug-12 08:20:31

Sorry reastie, that's not an online bargain though sad

If you're on Facebook then "like" smyths toy store. They have things on offer a lot, sand they're good at keeping Facebook updated with events etc. In April or June they had a 20% off everything day when I bought heaps of stuff. Their prices are usually fairly decent as it is

SpanishFly Sun 19-Aug-12 10:22:03

PS that bubble thing looks like one my nephew has - it's lasted for years!

Marking place. Need to start shopping. Not doing cards bar family this year.

I got loads of stocking fillers in the Argos clearance section today (collecting from store tomorrow).

Not much left for home delivery, but items are still available in local stores if you enter your postcode for nearest store, and are willing to reserve and collect from store. Some really good jewellery and toy bargains.

Just got this for a bargain price Elemis milk bath was 14.50 now 1.99 with code

Doctor who character packs 50p each (reduced from 2)
Proper dr who figures - £3
Batman imaginext stuff £6.50
Peppa pig stuff

Loads of other stuff too.

reastie Thu 23-Aug-12 15:36:05

Just bought this toy dyson on at the minute on amazon for less than half price - have been keeping an eye out for a while and haven't seen it this cheap before anywhere

izzybizzybuzzybees Thu 23-Aug-12 21:10:46

Thanks! Have. Have bought some Elc stuff! Also if anyone has a wee one then the leappad on amazon is £44.99 and in ELC its £80!

insanityscratching Thu 23-Aug-12 21:32:19

I bought this and this for dd in Home Bargains today. Also had Mousetrap and Battleships thought they were great value at £3.99.

Nat38 Thu 23-Aug-12 21:45:36

Thanks Phantom-have just ordered my Elemis bath milk toosmile for my sister-either for her birthday in November or christmas!hmmgrin

Just ordered 2 elemis bath milks (created an account on DH's behalf) that's 2 friends presents taken care of.

3 of the Lego dressing gowns for £4.99 from Argos reduced from £13.99, for nephew, and 2 friends DC.

Home bargains online had some great, well, bargains. A glee sing along microphone for £6, glee stationery set for 59p, that will do for my cousins wee boy.
A Beatles memorabilia set for £9, my 14yo goddaughter has gotten into the Beatles in a big way recently and will be delighted with this.

Ordered hydraluron cream from boots which came with a free peptilash (lash growing serum thingy) worth £24.99' would it be too cheeky as a gift for my cousin?

reastie Sun 26-Aug-12 08:26:38

Don't think so terra - loads of people buy the boots gifts 3 for 2 around christmas so effectively give every third person a free gift don't they. Plus, I wouldn't have thought she'd know about the offer so have any clue it was free grin

I'm completely stuck for something for DHs niece who is about 10. Apparently she's into 'fashion' but my idea of fashion and hers are probably somewhat different grin . Bought her a nice monsoon handbag for her birthday so can't get another bag. Any ideas? I was wondering about a tshirt but not sure on her taste/size hmm

oreocrumbs Sun 26-Aug-12 10:07:01

How about accessories? A necklace, bracelet, purse, scarf.

Or a cool hat, scarf and gloves set?

Can you find out her size from her Mum?

Is she interested in the fashion industry? Would she like on of those glossy coffee table books.

milk Sun 26-Aug-12 10:19:50

reastie, Claire's Accessories voucher?

Primrose123 Sun 26-Aug-12 10:29:55

reastie how about this for your niece? It includes stencils and patterned paper and she can design her own outfits. My DD loves it!

Sargesaweyes Sun 26-Aug-12 11:01:29

Wondered if I could join this thread. Want to be organised as never am and have no clue what to buy anyone. Any gift ideas for up to £20 for men and women would be great. I'm fine with kids gifts but find it really hard buying on a budget for adults and I refuse to let the price spiral this year. I've just bought that bath cream thank you smile

Pinot Sun 26-Aug-12 11:11:55

got the Elemis thanks

ChiefOwl Sun 26-Aug-12 11:15:48

Btw the Elemis bath milk says 125 ml so about the size of hand santiser bottles - jut in case anyone hadn't noticed!

laurenamium Sun 26-Aug-12 11:16:18

Marking my place!! This is an amazing thread!

Wolfcub Sun 26-Aug-12 11:21:59

Thank you I've ordered the Elemis and I'm looking at the Happyland for my neice

laurenamium Sun 26-Aug-12 11:24:22

So already I will be buying the designing kit primrose has linked the rocket reastie suggested and the Elemis bath milk. You people are heroes! grin

fuzzpig Sun 26-Aug-12 11:28:25

I use amazon wishlist to keep track of things I would like to buy, all year round. Sometimes random products go on ridiculously low price just for a brief time, and it's not advertised, so I just take regular scrolls down my wishlist (I have 5 blush) and see if there are any bargains.

milk Sun 26-Aug-12 14:14:13

Good idea fuzzpig smile

reastie Sun 26-Aug-12 18:38:36

fuzzpig I wish I was that organised!

Thanks for niece pressie ideas. Went to TK Maxx today and got her a glitter nail varnish set - just off to email her DM to check she's allowed it (know they can be strict on some things and don't want to step on anyones toes). Love the amazon link primrose and am seriously tempted to buy that too for her (although really now I've got her the nail varnish only need something for a couple of pounds so might save that for her bday next year) - how old is your DD? Thought I might see if I can find a cheap tshirt for £2 or £3 from a supermarket to give her as well as the varnish, but not sure if that price range is overly optimistic. She's v hard to get for as the whole family tend to throw everything away all the time, so I find myself trying so hard to think of things they genuinely want or like so it doesn't go in the bin shock - I have asked in the past what they'd like but never got very useful responses.

TK Maxx had some nice nail varnish/make up bits in nice brands (nails inc, stilla etc) if anyone needs any ideas for people who like that kind of thing.

fuzzpig Sun 26-Aug-12 18:45:12

It's not so much being organised as being a bit obsessive blush grin

BeaWheesht Sun 26-Aug-12 18:50:16

On Woolworths online there was 20% off all toys the last time I looked.

Also baby annabell is 39.99 rather than 49.99 in argos just now.

oreocrumbs Sun 26-Aug-12 19:28:22

Have totally stolen the Amazon wish list idea! Have spent the last half hour making a list grin.

fuzzpig Sun 26-Aug-12 20:01:31

Fantastic smile glad my geekiness has helped somebody! It's really weird how sometimes things go ridiculously cheap for a brief time. Eg a DVD box set I was vaguely interested in, normally £40, went down to £19 for a while. I'd love to know how they set their prices confused

My wish lists are:
Randomous Random, which is stuff like household, shoes and the kind of things I don't buy much of,
Entertainment (CDs and DVDs)
Games (board and console)

In the past I have divided them by person or just had one for 'presents'

Before I order though I still check eBay.

Levantine Sun 26-Aug-12 20:06:31

I'll post again if I come across anymore Octonaut bargains smile

Reastie DD is 11, had that book a year or two ago, and still enjoys playing with it.

BeaWheesht Sun 26-Aug-12 22:50:06

I bought it near full price for DS a couple of years ago or I'd buy one! it's really great, loads of detail, he played with it in the bath for hours

DoubleMum Wed 29-Aug-12 07:23:46

My Sainsburys didn't have any Mr Bean. Sadly I had my children with me and still spent a fortune though.

fuzzpig Wed 29-Aug-12 07:29:24

Tv series

You have to put in card details but it takes money and immediatly refunds it. I have just done it for DP's birthday.

So pleased to see I'm not the only one starting early. I've become a little obsessed and even have a lovely colour coded spreadsheet for lists and budgets etc blush.

I've just been on Amazon and seen that they have the big boxed of Lego Duplo (Deluxe Brick Box 5507) for £20 rather than £35.99. That's my nephew sorted smile.

Just thought I'd share.....

Debenhams selling Happyland Zoo for 30

15% Off Code: HM27, Expires 9th Sept 2012
Also use Code: SHD1 for free delivery

Just got zoo for £25.50!

Note: am hoping it's the version in the photo and not what they have described, otherwise will be taking back.

DistantShip Thu 30-Aug-12 20:56:05

Fabulous thread and some shameless place marking grin

LubileeJubileeJayde Thu 30-Aug-12 21:07:26

Moosey - I think the set is the one in the description and not the picture . It's very mis- leading!

The big zoo is normally £60 and debenhams don't have an offer on this zoo so it's normal price £30.

I was about to order it til I realised it was the smaller set. Hope I'm wrong though! Let us know when you get it .

oreocrumbs Thu 30-Aug-12 21:15:50

I've ordered the zoo. If it is the small one I will return it to store next week when I'm out shopping so nothing to lose, and too good a bargain to miss if it is the big one!

Thanks for the codes too smile

It's not an online bargain (can't find thread for non-online!) but wanted to share what I found in Morrisons today. They have Little People Wheelies for 48p each. Great for stocking fillers smile

MooseyMoo Thu 30-Aug-12 21:18:35

Lubilee - found the link through MoneySavingExpert and a few people on there decided to take a punt on it. Will update know when it arrives

MrsCF Thu 30-Aug-12 21:41:26

I have just bought a large Lego starter kit for £20 off Amazon, should have been £35, I was quite pleased with that smile

yellowdandelion Thu 30-Aug-12 22:05:19

Grrrr, I bought the lego for £25 yesterday thinking that was a good deal! Nevermind...

tara0202 Thu 30-Aug-12 22:25:51

Good thread. Leap pads are reduced to £39 in Tesco at the moment. I got one today. Lady told me its the one brought out for last xmas. It's reduced as a new one is coming out next month. Doesn't bother me having last years.

I don't think the reduction is online though but I could be wrong.

oreocrumbs Thu 30-Aug-12 22:39:13

Yellow if you bought it from amazon you should be able to cancel the oreder - I doubt it has been dispatched yet. Or if it has and you can stand both payments for a week, then return the first lot. Amazon are really good with returns and refunds.

oreocrumbs Thu 30-Aug-12 23:13:19

The book people have a set of 10 Julia Donaldson (The Gruffalo) books for £10. They are about £4 each on Amazon so quite a bargain. I've bought some and will split the pack between the little people.

I used the free delivery code that Levantine posted up thread too, so feeling quite happy with that find.

They have a few good sets on, it is worth a rummage. Have the Rohl Dahl collection for £15, and the full Mr men collection for £30.

hotbot Fri 31-Aug-12 07:48:41

Amazon just but a leap pad Leapster old style for half price virtually and got a free gel skin and free delivery.

hotbot Fri 31-Aug-12 07:49:52

Sorry bought , 44.99 also got those rockets from earlier in the thread , thanks for that

FreddoBaggyMac Fri 31-Aug-12 09:19:58

reastie Sat 01-Sep-12 06:56:11

Just wanted to remark my place as am loving all these links and hadn't posted for so long it went off my 'I'm on' threads.

Particularly interested to see what the debenhams happyland zoo turns up as

I couldn't find this thread yesterday so I started a new one but I'll also post here:

I saw this on UK hot deals and thought someone here might also like a look. If you look on the right hand side under "more buying choices" its only £15!

Awwww link fail! Can anyone correct it? I'm on my phone.

Not sure if I should get one of these for DD, she'll be nearly 8mo at Christmas.

SayHelloToMyLittleFriend Sat 01-Sep-12 07:33:51

Is it the vtech piano thing liz? Sorry, don't know how to fix your link but I saw this on houtuk too, looks great esp for the price. My 11 month old has a few things like this that she loves so would think your 8 month old would like it too.

My Mr Potato Head came yesterday, he looks even better in real life smile

oreocrumbs Sat 01-Sep-12 07:49:45

liz's link Thats a good price. I wonder why Amazon have the higher price as the default, and their lower free delivery price tucked away in other options?

I think it would be fine for an 8 month old, DD is 2 and still plays with her leap pad music table which is similar.

wanttomakeadifference Sat 01-Sep-12 08:17:13

Shamelessly marking my placeblush. Will be back to add any bargains that I find.

DesperatelySeekingPomBears Sat 01-Sep-12 19:49:42

I know it's not online but Home Bargains have character PJs for little boys (12 months plus) for £3.99. Got DS some Thomas ones that were £14 in Boots.

doublecakeplease thank you for the vertbaudet tip, going to sign up and buy a few bits from there smile thanks

OhTheConfusion Sat 01-Sep-12 22:10:17

Huge thank you to the poster who told us about the lego city space set almost half price in Argos... I got our local stores last one!!!

JoJoH1 Sun 02-Sep-12 17:26:59

Hello, In Sainsburys today they were selling the children's summer wheelbarrow set with mini watering can spades etc for £1.00.

reastie Sun 02-Sep-12 18:24:06

oh jojo that's a great bargain! Might try and have a look for one in our local tomorrow <crosses fingers>

BeaWheesht Sun 02-Sep-12 18:58:27

this train table set is reduced to 49.99, Id buy it if we had less toys had more room.

Tesco near us had lots of toys reduced the other day including megablocks, raa raa the noisy lion figures (£4) and a car transporter (£9)

pickofthepops Sun 02-Sep-12 19:02:51

Bea it may be worth checking Asda for same table as they had it for 25 or 30 pounds not last Xmas but one before. Am sure is same as had train set with it too. Is great but even better for that bit less, hey.

Wigeon Sun 02-Sep-12 21:05:13

Thank you Levantine - just ordered those lovely books from The Book People for presents to take to some birthday parties DD is going to soon.

oreocrumbs Mon 03-Sep-12 09:20:16

The happyland zoo from Debenhams arrived today, sadly it is the small set.

It looks ok, but I won't keep mine. DD already has a big happyland set bought for Christmas and this was just a too good to miss offering.

pickofthepops Mon 03-Sep-12 09:52:34

How cheeky to show the big pic. I will cancel our order tks for updating

reastie Mon 03-Sep-12 12:38:08

Thanks for update oreo . Glad I didn't take a punt on it as would have been a pain for me to return. Worth a go though I guess.

Not an online offer but went to sainsburys today (in hunt of the toy wheelbarrow for £1 a previous poster wrote about - none in my store though) and they had tons of crafty things 70% off - I got loads of glue/pipe cleaners etc to do with DD plus also sets like making a princess wand/make a garden with foamy stickery things, making fairy wings etc etc, all very very heavily discounted (don't think I paid more than £1.50 for anything). Am going to keep hold of them for DD in the future when we get bored on rainy days inside.

louiespence Mon 03-Sep-12 13:40:59

Hi all, this is a great thread! I've managed to get the Ocado Dove deal and books from the Book People website, so thanks to whoever recommended those! I found this OPI nail polish set today, which if it goes down to £7.50, will be a great gift for a friend/female relative!

Winterbug Mon 03-Sep-12 14:03:24

There's a toy sale on at toys r us
Bought a hot wheels sky jump tracks for £29.99 instead £59.99 today

SharpObject Mon 03-Sep-12 14:23:48

Some great bargains, thanks for all the links!

MooseyMoo Mon 03-Sep-12 18:20:37

I'm gutted the elc zoo is a small version - sorry! I haven't received mine yet, though it has just been despatched. Ah well, it was worth a punt.

Instead I've bought this mini kitchen for DD (she loves play kitchens but our front room is too small):,default,pd.html

ethelb Mon 03-Sep-12 19:58:20

Ocado are doing bottles of Hendricks for £17 at the mo. Would be a good adult pressie or to add to the booze stashgrin

serin Mon 03-Sep-12 23:30:28

Marking my place grin great thread!

oreocrumbs Tue 04-Sep-12 19:37:08

Debenham's zoo update I've had an email today appologising for their error - showing the large zoo set but it only being the small. They have offered me a £12 refund as a gesture of goodwill. As I only paid £25.50 that brings the cost down to £13.50 (if I've counted on my fingers correctly!)

So if any of you still have it ordered, I imagine this will be offered to you too. They also offer to arrange for it to be collected and returned if you do not want to keep it.

I'm quite happy with that and will keep it now.

pickofthepops Tue 04-Sep-12 19:47:47

I got one too and have replied to ask I a cash refund or debenhams credit. No r as yet. will send back if a credit note as I don't shop there enough. Good customer care tho.

reastie Tue 04-Sep-12 21:19:23

I thought i might give the happyland zoo a go and try claiming back the refund you got, but it seems to have been taken down from their site now

Cinders22 Tue 04-Sep-12 22:05:44

Marking my place, brilliant thread. I have ordered the dressing gown and playmobil boat already!

oreocrumbs Tue 04-Sep-12 22:32:08

The book people have The Hairy Dieters cookbook for £4.99, its back in stock now, I've just ordered 2 (one is for my Christmas present from DP!)

It is £9 on Amazon and if it is as good as the programme and their other books, will be a great gift.

Marking my place! I need this Christmas to be as cheap as possible smile

doublecakeplease Wed 05-Sep-12 14:31:39

Not on line (sorry!!) but apparently Superdrug have launched their BIG sale instore only. According to Martin's Money website they have:

Rightguard for women - 10p (£2 elsewhere)
Piz Buin 1 day long lotion - 10p (£8 elsewhere)
Amber Soleil sun lotion - 10p (£5 elsewhere)
Beauty UK Blusher Mousse - 10p
Charles Worthington hair spray - £1 (£7 elsewhere)
Weaning spoons - £1
GOSH eye dust - £1 (£6 elsewhere)
Jergens moisturiser - £1.99 (£4 elsewhere)
L'Oreal solar expertise soothing milk - £1.99 (£7 elsewhere)
Plain Lazy wash bag set - £1.99 (£20 elsewhere)

they're claiming to have 500,000 items at 10p but this is unconfirmed - might get some stocking fillers??

iseenodust Wed 05-Sep-12 14:43:45

I just bought fleabag monkeyface books from the Works for £7.99 the pack of 6.

iseenodust Wed 05-Sep-12 14:45:05

They've also got packs of the Horrible Geography series, I think 10 books for £11.99.

oreocrumbs Wed 05-Sep-12 15:55:11

I went to superdrug today, they didn't have anything in for 10p, but did have a 99p basket that had nail varnish, make up brushes make up etc in. I was working (well a loose definition of work, it involved a quick meeting then a wander through the shops blush ) so will explore properly tomorrow when I go shopping.

I did go to the body shop, they have a lot of stuff half price I got some bubble baths as stocking fillers. What I did get that might be of intrest is a voucher for £10 a £25 spend. There isn't a minimum spend to get the voucher so if you want to spend more than £25 in there I would go in and buy something for £2 and get the voucher. Voucher redeemable 3/10 - 01/10 2012.

oreocrumbs Wed 05-Sep-12 17:43:22

pickofthepops I've had another email from Debenhams saying they are refunding the £12 back onto the card I used.

BeaWheesht Wed 05-Sep-12 17:49:59

Not online but when in debenhams today they had a fifty percent off sale on some girls clothes and in addition they were buy one get one free so I got dd a cardi and dress both blue zoo for £5

PersuedByPenguins Wed 05-Sep-12 20:03:19

I'm pleased to see my links have helped a few people smile

Cinders did you manage to get the boat at that price from Argos? every time I have tried, it gives the option to order into store to collect but then when I click reserve it comes back The following items were not purchased...out of stock any ideas?

IWanders Wed 05-Sep-12 20:08:51
Cinders22 Wed 05-Sep-12 20:20:52

PersuedByPenguins I got the same response so I ordered again and then I got 2 emails from them saying "Thanks for shopping at If you requested it, we'll also send your reservation number by text. Please remember that these items have not yet been paid for. Please quote your reservation number at the store." I am therefore assuming that it has been ordered, twice unfortunately, so I will cancel one once they arrive in store. Have you had the email confirming the order?

Also have you look at the ToysRUs clearance? There are a couple of Playmobil toys on there at a very good price.

SharonGless Wed 05-Sep-12 20:28:09

Hi loving this thread and have got a couple of Playmobil bits from Argos. The swat team is also half price but I can't get the boat. It lets me go through but then says out of stock and I get an email but no reservation number

Off to check out Toysrus...

Not that I have Playmobil obsession , oh no not me

oreocrumbs Wed 05-Sep-12 20:46:18

ELC - you can use the code SAVANNAH, to get 20% off the sale stuff. I bought my niece the treehouse for £16. It only let me use it once, so bear that in mind. Unless any of you have this months birthday club code?

PersuedByPenguins Wed 05-Sep-12 20:56:29

My email says the same but no reservation number, also if order is successful they state on the email the date the order will be held until- and it doesn't seem to have that info on my email sad

I have actually emailed them about it (in case it is just a system error) so I will report back if I get any joy!

PersuedByPenguins Wed 05-Sep-12 21:13:27

OREO Thanks for the tip on the treehouse, I am going to order it for my niece too <hope we haven't got same niece grin >

PersuedByPenguins Wed 05-Sep-12 21:14:14

Oh no, SAVANNAH doesn't seem to be working for me sad

reastie Wed 05-Sep-12 21:16:49

Not online but speaking of playmobil (and sharons obsession with it grin ) I saw some good discounts on a couple of bits in my local sainsburys at the week end

reastie Wed 05-Sep-12 21:19:00

SAVANNAH code worked for me on non sale stuff but not sale things

PersuedByPenguins Wed 05-Sep-12 21:28:40

Oh what a shame sad I wonder if it's worth waiting for another code to come along? confused

oreocrumbs Wed 05-Sep-12 21:43:33

SAVANNAH worked yesterday when I bought the treehouse, but didn't work today when I ordered some toys on the 2 for £10, I wonder if it expired?

We need to find out this months birthday club code... I'll investigate and report back.

oreocrumbs Wed 05-Sep-12 21:53:21

Right try BC0812 or BC0912.

It won't let me do it, but I have already used DD's birthday codes.

What we need is the new version of the override discount code. It was BLUEBIRD a couple of weeks ago, in the past it has been other animal names. SAVANNAH was linked to a bbc promotion I think. I'll keep looking.

oreocrumbs Wed 05-Sep-12 21:54:21

Oh and the free delivery is scheduled to end on the 27th September, so worth trying to get any online stuff ordered before then.

oreocrumbs Wed 05-Sep-12 22:02:28

The treehouse will stay at half price untill the 23rd, so if you want to wait a few days to see if anyone can come up with a code you will still be able to get it.

everydayaschoolday Wed 05-Sep-12 22:25:50

Lakeland have presentation boxes for homemade chocs on sale to be discontinued. 2pk, 4pk and 6pk chocolates. I bought the nice cheapy 2pk one (@ 79p) for dd homemade 'delights' for grandparents and teacher hampers.

Will prob post this in homemade thread as well. Is double posting allowed confused?

PersuedByPenguins Wed 05-Sep-12 22:28:24

Wow Oreo I'm impressed with your voucher knowledge! Unfortunately BC0812 Says it cannot be added to my order and BC0912 cannot be found, maybe Birthday club codes cannot be used with another offer? Thanks for your help thanks

PersuedByPenguins Wed 05-Sep-12 22:29:33

Just tried- both SAVANNAH and the BC codes work when on full price items, so mustn't be valid on sale items hmm

SharonGless Wed 05-Sep-12 22:36:22

And moving from playmbil to Lego star wars swamp speeder

SharonGless Wed 05-Sep-12 22:38:35

Plus you get free Anakin pod as you have spent over £15
I have ordered to collect in store At the weekend

oreocrumbs Wed 05-Sep-12 22:40:48

Its amazing what a bored housewife can find on t'internet of an evening wink.

I've just double checked my order and they definitely discounted it using SAVANNAH, it was only last night. Sorry guys, I will keep an eye out and see if I can find something else to use. Grr, they must have wised up if it was a loophole.

PersuedByPenguins Wed 05-Sep-12 22:48:06

Few more ELC bargains I have come across whilst trying the codes out....

john deere tractor 40 now 20

dino capture 40 now 30

also noticed that the Easels are on sale

PersuedByPenguins Wed 05-Sep-12 22:55:53

Thanks Oreo, they must have sussed the loophole! But even without the extra 20% off the tree house is a good deal!

grin at Sharon and her Playmobil/lego obsession

SharonGless Wed 05-Sep-12 23:06:43

I haven't even started on amazon yet....
On the book people website sorting out birthday presents for school birthday parties. I know it's not Christmas but its off my things to do list so that I can concentrate on serious Christmas shopping.

I have just discovered pinterest so this may be a new obsession!

starjules Thu 06-Sep-12 12:22:51

Hiya, if you are trying to order elc stuff its worth ringing them up. I had heard a while ago that they sometimes have stuff that says out of stock in stock when you ring up and also if you say the code wont work they will just put it through with the discount.

I know this as both worked for me last week! I had the discount codes of Blackbird, bluebird and safari. The very nice lady on the phone also said as its the run up to Christmas they will just give you the discount if you ring up.

Cinders22 Thu 06-Sep-12 13:21:11

I have just had an email from Argos to say the that despite the email I received about the boat, actually the item has been discontinued and they will not be having any more stock. Oh well.

If anyone has any more links for playmobil I would be extremely grateful, I need to be a bit quicker off the mark I think. grin

sillyily Thu 06-Sep-12 13:30:31

Not sure if this has been posted already, but there's a 30%off code on vouchercloud for body shop. It says it's in my local one, but I assume it's local to wherever you are. Doesn't seem to be online though sad

CointreauVersial Thu 06-Sep-12 13:31:50

Marking this thread for later (lunch hour o-v-e-r).

OvO Thu 06-Sep-12 13:43:49

Thanks for the Star Wars find, Sharon. Have reserved one too.

PersuedByPenguins Thu 06-Sep-12 13:59:48

Did you include sale items in your order Jules?

I have just tried and they said no as item was already reduced! Also asked when the imaginext sub would be back in stock and she said that it just stated out of stock with no date sad

starjules Thu 06-Sep-12 14:32:48

Yes PBP I have put in blush 4 orders for my LO for Christmas from ELC over the last 2 months and each one had half price items and the 2 for £15 or the 2 for £10 and I got 20% on all of them this included the happyland box which said is out of stock on the website, but they have 2 in the warehouse! That ended up being £8.80 which is a bargain, in fact wish I had got both now and popped one on ebay as they are going for nearly full price then I would have some more pennies to but in another order smile

oreocrumbs Thu 06-Sep-12 15:58:55

I've been shopping again blush. Disney store had mickey mouse, tinkerbell and lightening mcqueen stuff reduced - stationary sets, rucksacks and other little gifts. Also have the beach towels reduced to £8.

Superdrug did have a 10p clearance on, but it was crap. It was all damaged stock and old testers. They had some stickers for 10p, some nice diamonte hello kitty hairslides for 49p, and some make your own doll kits for 99p. They seemed popular, a few people in the queue had an armfull of them.

Will try ringing up about the scooter I want that is out of stock in elc, and see if I can use one of the codes, thanks for the tip!

Prizepudding Thu 06-Sep-12 16:16:21

Was in Boots today and they have lots of toys for £2 and £3 to make way for the new Christmas toys, you also get 3 for 2 on all purchases. Includes some small happy land sets, mecanno, dr who, postman pat, gruffalo, hungry caterpillar and fireman Sam I think.

I bought 2 small sets of mecanno and orchard game 'there was an old lady' for £2.25 each which worked out at £5 due to the 3 for 2. Also got a zhu zhu baby for £2.

Best be quick though as read about it on another forum and everything is going fast.

fuzzpig Thu 06-Sep-12 16:31:46

Excellent news about boots, we are in town tomorrow so will take a look. We used to get loads there (DH worked for them) but haven't been in for a while as we no longer get discount! But can't complain at those prices grin

Wolfcub Sun 09-Sep-12 10:07:58

Thanks to SharonGless for the star wars Lego link. DS got one yesterday with his saved pocket money and a bit of extra from me (love lego)

Wolfcub Sun 09-Sep-12 10:16:20

there are some reasonably good lego deals on tesco online too - Alien Conquest, Hero Factory, City, Technic, Star Wars, ?bricks and more and Creator by the look of it.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees Sun 09-Sep-12 10:25:53

Marking my place again!

sunfairy72 Sun 09-Sep-12 11:27:55

I have just got some bargains that I am putting away for Christmas from the Tesco sale thats on at the moment - well worth a look. I have also picked up loads of lovely things for my girlie friends and sisters from they have loads of gifts for women, lots of them are under a tenner, and lots of lovely home accessories, like funny signs, which I have treated myself too :-)!

SharonGless Sun 09-Sep-12 13:16:09

Wolf cub, you are welcome!

reastie Sun 09-Sep-12 16:29:39

reastie I got some lovely Swiss chocolates half price in M & S on Friday. They had quite a few deals on Chocs and were also doing two of their nice boxes of biscuits for £7.

Wolfcub Sun 09-Sep-12 20:15:29

iloveblue, just watch the dates on some of those - I looked on Friday and a lot had best before dates for mid--January (which is absolutely fine if you eat your xmas chocolates quickly but I don't).

silver28 Sun 09-Sep-12 21:34:46

Not online but b&m bargains had good offers on moshi monsters: full set of series 1 (around 24 of them) for £12.99 (I think) and set of larger moshi monsters for about the same price. Both supposedly £25 each on toys r us and just checked amazon and they cost more on there.

BlameItOnTheCuervo Sun 09-Sep-12 21:45:24

fragrance direct have some fab gift sets, inc clarins for less than half price.

BlameItOnTheCuervo Sun 09-Sep-12 21:47:51

silver28 THANK YOU! Dd is Moshi mad!

SharonGless Sun 09-Sep-12 22:02:28

Silver you just beat me to it! DS has got virtually all series 1 so not worth me getting the set.
They also have Squinkies if your Dd are into them. The Disney princess and hello kitty sets were £3.99
They make good birthday presents too
There were Angry Bird games which I haven't seen before.
Loads of games- off the top of my head monopoly, charades for children ( which I can highly recommend) connect 4 frustration Disney princess's game

silver28 Sun 09-Sep-12 22:09:59

grin glad to be able to help! DS loves moshis so think he'll love them. They had loads of great toys in store, def worth a look.

Now, got to keep searching for the playmobil top agents HQ for a good price.....!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair Sun 09-Sep-12 22:14:49

cheekily marking my place - we're abroad so want to get as many gifts sent direct to UK as poss rather than us lugging them all back for Christmas

SizzleSazz Sun 09-Sep-12 22:44:26

JUst marking my place for a revisit. Thanks for the tips all smile

Ohhelpohnoitsa Sun 09-Sep-12 22:51:11

Thanks for the boots link. I got day and night cream and eye cream all half price on boots'bargain shelf in town. I asked why they were reduced as they had no date on. The boxes say "new oil of olay".... But a newer new product is about to be launched so they have to oust all the old stock that says new... If that makes sense! Perhaps most branches are doing this?

MooseyMoo Mon 10-Sep-12 06:57:37

Apparently Asda will be having toy sale this week, but date not confirmed.

MooseyMoo Mon 10-Sep-12 07:01:13

Oh, also saw some glow sticks, bracelets and necklaces in 99p shop yesterday. Would be good stocking filler...

Remarking my place.

Off to take all of my elc purchases back to store today, don't know what they hell has gone on but all of my boxes are crushed. They look like they have been stamped on hmm. So now I have to take them back and get them changed. Grr, I don't know which carreir it is they use but I will be logging a complaint.

MrsPnut Mon 10-Sep-12 08:30:32

Marking my place and I'll go and check out B&M today.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey Mon 10-Sep-12 09:38:46

The Entertainer has a sale on.

Elmo Let's Rock £69.99 reduced to £24.99 and lots of other good bits.

Wolfcub Mon 10-Sep-12 09:39:51

oreocrumbs, my boxes were a bit bashed too - but the bag they came in was pristine, I think it might be stock that's been bashed in the stock room or at original delivery

YouOldSlag Mon 10-Sep-12 09:44:52

Some great tips here. I don't understand why people leave all their shopping until December. Why use up all your salary in one month when it makes so much more sense to spread the cost and start earlier!

Onadietcolabreak Mon 10-Sep-12 10:32:30

Great price on 10 Julia Donaldson books, put my order in, had a few titles already, so will be giving them to other kids!

ShoopShoop Mon 10-Sep-12 15:34:46

Thanks BlameIt just snaffled a pair of those earrings. I make Christmas crackers for all DH's family at Christmas so they will make a nice present for one of his sisters. Tiny enough to fit inside which is great. Just need the willpower to give them away rather than keep them for myself.....blush

fuzzpig Mon 10-Sep-12 16:05:08

I'm planning on getting two pairs. One for my mum, one for me grin

Can somebody explain how that site works? Bit confused blush

I signed up and put my PayPal details in, so now what happens? Do I wait until the voucher ends and then put in the code they email me or something? <clueless>

Badvoc Mon 10-Sep-12 16:11:46

Got some earrings..thanks

reastie Mon 10-Sep-12 16:27:10

That earring thing looks a bit good to be true though - are they actually worth £90? I'm also clueless as to how the site works and got scared off by the thought of a voucher and how I use it blush

BlameItOnTheCuervo Mon 10-Sep-12 16:32:54

fuzzpig, thats it. I got ds a watch a while back off groupon.

reastie, i think it works off RRP rather than what it would actually sell for, IYKWIM

reastie Mon 10-Sep-12 16:36:32

Does anyone know if I buy 2 if I have to pay delivery for for both earrings or if they can go in the same order for one delivery charge? Am very tempted!

fuzzpig Mon 10-Sep-12 16:36:33

Thanks Blame, does groupon work in the same way then? (never looked at that site either!)

BlameItOnTheCuervo Mon 10-Sep-12 16:38:23

yes, all those sites work in the same way, groupon is good for spa days/paintballing etc.

I presume it would be one lot of delivery, not sure though.

yabbadabba Mon 10-Sep-12 16:51:01

Have just purchased the earrings as a Christmas present for my stepmum, hopefully she will think i have spent uite a bit and not 4.99 grin

Previous year's playmobil advent calendars - £12-14

They also have lots of other Playmobil at what looks like knock down prices.

insanityscratching Tue 11-Sep-12 16:31:36

Sharon it wasn't worth the £120 I paid last year but I think it's a decent buy for £60. Dd hasn't played with it for a while now tbh and I've dismantled it and put it in a box but it was well played with initially and then she removed a lot of stuff and put furniture in and used it as a house so dual purpose. It took a while to set up but was sturdy once done in any case. Dd really wanted it last year (she was 8) but I think she is at the upper end of it being an interest tbh. Playing school seems to lose it's appeal around then I think.

SharonGless Tue 11-Sep-12 16:53:42

Thanks - I reserved it once but the reviews put me off
Dd is 4 and just started school so think she will like it.

lauraloo09 Tue 11-Sep-12 18:31:36

Poundland have Horrible Histories books and dvds and quite a good selection for any HH fans or as cheap stocking fillers.
Tesco have reduced their stationery, lunch boxes, back packs got a £10 pack of Sharpies for £3, spiderman filled pencil case for £2, lunch box £2, water bottle £1 and had Hello Kitty equivalents.
Nice to pad out the Santa sacks and useful too.

Badvoc Wed 12-Sep-12 18:59:30

Ooohhh need seem hello kitty stuff, thanks

3duracellbunnies Wed 12-Sep-12 22:16:37

Oh are the HH DVDs the BBC version or the cheaper ones? Might have to go for the books anyway.

insanityscratching Wed 12-Sep-12 22:25:51

Not sure tbh they don't have the characters on the front but cartoon characters I assumed they were the older editions tbh.The books are the current ones as dd has a few of them already and a few more to come now at only £1.

3duracellbunnies Thu 13-Sep-12 09:31:15

Opps did I say that out loud?

saladfingers Thu 13-Sep-12 09:35:01

A word of warning re ELC I recently ordered a few games from them in the sale for my presents box for parties etc. They were delivered by City Link late one afternoon in a green ELC bag.Every single item was damaged. There is no phone number to speak to online store anymore.I returned everything to local mothercare/ELC where they refunded my money. They were quite disgusted by the state of the goods but did say that in future if i had order delivered to store then it would come in a box and so risk of damage minimal.Worth considering if you can. However i was enticed by free P&P as hate going to ELC with my 3DC in tow!

oreocrumbs Thu 13-Sep-12 11:08:38

saladfingers, I had the same thing, I mentioned it upthread, and another poster said the same. Mine were crushed, they looked like they had been stamped on hmm.

As it happens I was working in town the next day so had a chance to pop into a store and exchange them so it was ok for me, but had I not been then I would have had to make a special trip with DD and wrestle every toy in the shop off her.

Also since they have closed a lot of stores it is not as easy to get to one as it used to be.

Thanks to whoever recommended the Ultimate Band wii game, that will be a great stocking filler for DS. I also picked up Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 wii game for 93p (£2 postage) at the same time, I know it's a bit dated but 4yo DS hopefully won't notice!

I have also bought the BHS groupon, I have found these Mike the Knight Pyjamas and matching robe that I know DS2 will love!

louiespence Thu 13-Sep-12 18:26:34

Re the BHS. Groupon, there is also a code currently that lets you have £5 off if you spend £25. It's AUTUMN05, and if you can use this alongside the Groupon, that will be £25 of stuff for your £9!! Not sure if they will let you redeem the coupon and use the code at the same time, but I'll let you know when I try!

I've just ordered the Ultimate Band game - had really good reviews and how brilliant to be able to give a WII game as a stocking filler - in fact, I'm thinking about getting some more copies for other kids in the family.
