and it was lovely! I feel v festive now. made better because it was the church i used to attend as a little girl (was recognised by a few people from the choir - used to do readings etc) also the Church we married in.

Dont really attend church anymore, because there isnt really one by us, wish there was though!

Ours was last week. It was lovely - loads of families and a real buzz about the place. Very beautiful when all the candles were lit and everyone singing.

(And DD2 succeeded in eating ALL the sweets off her Christingle before the end of the final song . )

I thought Christingle was on Christmas eve.

We have to trek miles to where my Mum used to live, thanks to my sister, because the church there gives out Christingles to everyone not just the children . I'd like to go to my local church which is at the end of my road but as they don't give out Christingles to everyone we're not allowed!! My sister is 35 btw!!! It is a nicer service though - there's a lot more child participation than at my local church.

We used to have it quite early - I think late November. I loved it. I have wonderful memories of the children walking with their candles.

DD had the most hair you have ever seen on one person's head - I used to follow her poised to put out any flames

Some churches have it on Christmas eve - others use it to kick off Advent, at the beginning of December. We have Christingle on the first Sunday of December and a Crib service on Christmas Eve. Both lovely and packed to the rafters.
