Christmas

It's not *quite* what I had in mind...

DH kindly bought me this last week

I'm not a craft-type person but I do have an old wooden box with threads and cotton in for emergencies but it is at least ten years old and it used to be a "stash" box as the young people in ancient times said.

So I wanted a "naice" replacement.

I like strawberries too.

The trouble is, it arrived today along with a matching mug and it so doesn't look like it does on the site. The background is blue, not off-white. Virgin Mary bloody blue. Same with the mug. Hideous.

Is anyone else sending something back this year?

Oh it looks off-white on mine, bone maybe, but not vivid blue.

I cleaned my screen earlier too

It looks blue on mine.
I should add I have exactly the same model but in a different colour. MIL gave it to be for Christmas last year (no doubt shocked that all I had was an old tupperware box with hotel travel kits), it certainly serves the purpose.

I saw that in John Lewis yesterday.

And shuddered.

"Cath Kidston Strawberry Print Sewing Box, Blue, Medium"

So it does! The picture misleads.

But why blue with strawberries?

It isn't big and is isn't clever Cath, nor is it "cool"

Gosh that's an ugly sewing box.

I have an antique mahogany box that I use as a sewing box. It's lovely. I'm not sure what it was designed for originally - perhaps candles or tea or something?

I have a lovely leggy sewing box which one day I will be upholstering and turning into a lovely sewing-box-come-seat for machine sewing. Was less than Ms Kidston's.

Isn't everyone over Cath Kidston anyway? I have a CK tea towel. I used to drape it over the Aga, label to the fore. But I've noticed that I now bury it, deep in the tea-towel drawer.

Swedington you are correct. She is indeed over. In fact I can tell you the exact moment it happened.

It was about a year ago and my dear mother proudly showed me her new imitation Cath Kidston mug set... purchased from a well known supermarket

It's all about Vanessa Arbuthnott now

I didn't get it because it was CK, I just liked the online image / strawberries.

Strawberries go with cream not blue!

That'll teach me to try to be poncy

Now that it's going back can I say that Cath Kidston is a leetle bit shite?
