Nintendo DS - is it worth looking for second hand one?

DD has asked for one but they are really expensive, and then you still have to buy the games.

Is it worth looking for a second hand one and what would be a reasonable price to pay? Had a look on ebay and they are going from about £50 - 60.

What is the difference between DS and DSlite and DSi?

Sorry cant really answer your OP but just to let you know they sell second hand ones in game (you would be able to see it and see what you thought rather than getting it after you had paid).

The preowned one I got from Game came without a box but it did have a free case and a spare stylus, Considering the case costs a tenner, I thought it was quite good value. BTW £69 for the middle one - DS Lite?

ds lite is as name suggests a lighter version of ds. no other main difference

dsi is a newer one with a camera and option to connect to internet i think

my friend paid £70 for a second hand one from game i think. i've just bought a new one from additions catalogue for £70 (using the £30 off code for new customers)

I have been looking into getting pre-owned DS lites this xmas as both my DC would like one as their main present and then they both have Jan birthdays so have to watch the £££.

Am not an expert, but DS the very old version, DS Lite more recent version (£100 new, £70 from Game), DSi the new version with interactive bits (£150 new, not really available pre-owned yet).

Game is a much better option than ebay imo as their pre-owned consoles have been checked out and come with a guarantee.

DS is the original and chunky
DSlite is slimmer
DSi is newest version with camera and can record voices.
the lady in game told me all the ds games play on all the versions, but some use the 'dsi features' so you can take a photo of your face and put that on a character, or record something to be said in the game (like 'well done DD' when she completes a puzzle).
i think there are different colours available too...

Great, thanks. I am not in UK but can get my Mum (sorry, Mum you seem to be doing all my Xmas shopping this year!) to check that out.

Not that bothered about video etc. So the DS lite at £70 would be ideal. (And that is about half the price of the new DSi here in Switzerland.
