Like many others, buying for my other half can be hard. He's one of those people who wants something and buys it, hence he already has the itouch, a sat nav, a new TV, etc etc. So I've decided to buy him a mixed hamper of kitchen and cooking stuff for Christmas but haven't quite decided what to put in it yet. Am thinking gadgets and maybe a bit of food and wine, rather than just nice foods. He does most of our cooking and enjoys being in the kitchen so it's not a ploy to get him to do more! Grateful for any ideas people can give me about what to put in it!

Good olive oil; good balsamic vinegar. Some lovely pasta (ie better than you'd usually buy); sea salt - my mum bought me a salt pig a few years ago and I love it but would never have considered buying one for myself.

Saffron, vanilla pods, a whole nutmeg and a tiny grater. Interesting spices such as lovely paprika or sumac. Risotto rice. Dried porcini.
