My ds has had very little experience with computer games before but he's seen all his friends with one of these and now nothing else will do! I haven't a clue where to start with games, he's only just starting to read, any suggestions would be great! Thanks.

My ds (also 5.5) loves to play on his sister's and she has Junior Brain Trainer, Dora Snow Princess and battleships. He can't read well enough for the Brain Trainer really so she helps him but he can do the maths puzzles.

The lego games are good , brain training is hard if he can't read.
My dd almost 5 loves the catz , dogz , animal paradise games.

Agree with Mario Kart and Sonic Rush

Also Donkey Kong Jungle climber, Disney Friends and the Scooby-doo games are fun.

The shop 'Game' sells many second hand games, so they are significantly cheaper. In my experience, they don't notice or care if they are not brand new

Can't comment on Mariokart yet cause have purchased it for DS for chrimbo but its supposed to be good!

DS is 5 in February so a bit younger than your DS but he loves the Sam Power games...he's got the Fireman one and the Policeman one and they are really good. You basically have to do missions and then catch things and can then customise your policecar/fire engine! DS can do them totally on his own which is good. I actually caught DH playing on the fireman one as well so could also recommend for 32 year old man lol!

DS has also got Lego Star Wars which I thought would be too difficult but he can do most of that with no problem as well!
