Christmas

Buying for very particular friend!

Hi,

I need to get a Christmas gift for a friend, spending £10-15.

She's very particular about what she wears ( everything has to be just right and match), what she has in her house has to match, toiletries have to be exact (and are very expensive!), she's fussy about smells so candles etc would be difficult!!

I'm really struggling to think what to get! I've asked her for an idea but she wants a surprise !

Any ideas?!

If she is a nice person, she wouldn't expect a friend on a budget to subscribe to her expensive tastes! If I am buying a gift on a budget, I try and get the best i can in a catagory. For £15 you could get some Charbonel and Walker chocolates (TK MAXX is brilliant for posh food) so I would go with that. Don't be tempted to get a 'lookalike' of something as she won't use it. I like certain labels but would never expect someone to buy me something from there but when I was given a Marc Jacobs hair slide (£20 odd), I was made up

If she's got a garden, then how about some bulbs in a planter, or an indoor version of that? Alternatively a bird feeder that goes on the window or something in that vein?

My ILs are like your friend. Impossible, and these kind of people always say "oh nothing special, don't go to any bother". They take up more mental energy than everyone else put together.

Ooh like the idea of buying something for the garden!

I'd go for a gift card ideally but we're a group of 3 friends who will be opening presents together, the other friend is very easy to buy for, is like me so if it's something I'd like then I know she would! She's also far less fussy! So I wouldn't want to get a gift card for one and a present for the other..

Thanks everyone

Bottle of wine, or a dessert wine if you want it to look more special?

If she likes roses you could get a rose bush for the garden on your budget. For a couple of pounds more a small jo malone bath oil.
Waterstones have some nice stationery in their stores,
An orchid from M&S.
If you know what type of music she likes a CD.
I just bought a set of Korres shower gels from M&S for £15 _ there are four full sizes and to buy individually would be nearer £30 and lovely range of smells.
