How many baubles?

I'm going to buy new decorations for my tree but I'm not sure how many I will need. Tree is 6ft fairly standard width. How many baubles do you have so it doesn't look bare?

Depends if you also go for tinsel, fairy lights, stars, angels etc etc.

It's also a matter of taste.

Get a couple of dozen - you can always buy some more later.

Depends on what else you will be putting on it and also whether it will be next to a wall. I tend to leave my 6ft tree quite bare at the back as it stands next to a wall in our living room.

Also depends on the size of the baubles you buy. I'd recommend buying at least 30ish, then add more if you feel it needs it.

I have been buying various baubles since July for our first largeish tree reckon we will get a 6ft one. Here is what I am putting on my tree
40 mini baubles about 3cm these and these
10 snowflakes – various styles
18 white/silver baubles
10 silvered pinecones
9 red silver baubles
300 lights
Hoping my tree will look something like this No tinsel , or string beads

I like glass decorations have bought/seen good deals at HEMA , poundland ( you can order online) , TKMAXX or ebay – some of the decorations I already had when we had a mini tree in our old house. Argos and Wilkos have good deals on shatterproof baubles too.
(of course this all may not be remotely helpful to you as I have not put my tree up yet and I may have bout too much/too little)

Loads of baubles. 200 white fairy lights. Silver beading. No tinsel. We have a 6ft fir tree with some fake snow on it, similar looking to this one.

We do have some sets of plain/sparkly baubles in our colour scheme. Nothing fancy. Then we have a lovely 12 days of Christmas set as well. The rest is made up of individual and personalised baubles and decorations we've picked up on various trips over the years. I love looking at our tree. It's very much a case of taking a trip down memory lane at times Xmas Smile Very few branches are bare!

I have a fibre optic tree so no additional lights going on and no tinsel. I was thinking 80 but now I'm thinking it might not be enough.

I think that would be enough as you want to see the Fibre Optic effect this one has 45 at 5ft

Buy some fancy ones that you love, then you can buy extra cheap ones as filler and discard them (or not) as you add to your collection each year.
