Audiobooks - classical stories for a 9-10 year old

DD would like more audiobooks. We have The Lion, Witch and Wardrobe on her list as she had the book as topic book in class but want's to hear the whole story. She already has Hodgson-Burnett's Little Princess and Anne of Green Gables.

Does anybody has more suggestions? We use these kind of stories for audiobooks as DD struggles reading them in print, she finds the language tiring. We have "modern" authors like Roald Dahl and David Walliams as well on CD but DD normally only hears them once or twice and has several as books as well.

Little House on the prairie we have in German (bi-lingual family) so that is out as well.

Apart from Secret Garden and Black Beauty (she cried when reading it due to the mis-treatment of horses) I can't really think of anything she may like. As I only read a lot of these books in English as an adult or just the "watered-down" children version in German I am a bit lost what else is out there.

Would Edith Nesbit something suitable?

Edith Nesbit is good - 5 children and it. We have also liked Stig of the dump, tales of King Arthur, Wind in the willows, Swallows and amazons... We have now got Ds an Audible subscription but he's a bit older so not sure can recommend anything recent...but its fab as can use via my phone in the car! the harry potters are supposed to be good but i dont like Stephen Fry so couldn't say!
