Stocking filler suggestions, Poundland.

This year, instead of spending money on chocolate, I was thinking of getting my kids a stocking full of goodies from Poundland.

I was thinking about doing this with other children I usually buy for, both in my family and friends children.

Any suggestions on themes/ideas for kids ages 18 months- 8 years? Particularly for girls, as both of mine are boys.

Be careful with things from pound land for any kids under 3. Because they are cheaply produced even things you would expect to be suitable for under 3s like teddies etc usually aren't.

With the younger ones I was honking along the lines of bath toys and books etc?

Honestly I would rather you spend £3 or £5 on a Christmas DVD - I usually get that and a sachet of hot chocolate for the little ones that I buy for.

Or a book from Home Bargains - can buy for any age, even activity books and they start at 69p.
As a parent I'd rather my child receive those than a stocking full of pound land toys.

Yep sorry I agree, I wouldn't want a stocking full of cheap tat either. Always badly made and break easily. Lots of little dissapointments. A book or hot choc would be much more greatly received. X

Pound land do some nice books sometimes and DVDs , I've bought hats and gloves from them and craft stuff is fine. I wouldn't fill a stocking for other people's children though, I'd rather a book and a chocolate Santa if it were my child.

They sell some lovely bath bits in poundland,things we've bought for our DD's since they were younger(they're now 9 and 13)rubber ducks,little bath cups,a pack of stacking turtles,frozen sponges,little bath finger puppets,bath confetti,bubble bath,bubbles for in the bath,bath fizzers,different scented and shaped soaps,baby bath books,bath time puzzles(they're foam one's),character shower gels and shampoos.

Other stocking fillers you can buy in there headphones,gloves and hats and socks(they do some unusual and character one's in there)hair things,jewelry,lip gloss,books,dvd's,sweets,little ornaments,piggy banks(in different styles)yo-yo's,bubbles,character drinking cups with bendy straws,character drinking bottles,colouring pens and pencils,nice stationary,pencil cases(we got some of the Pets at home one's and emoji one's for our DD's stockings this year)colouring books,arts and crafts sets,some of them stock some of the official My Little Pony,Frozen,Paw patrol,Marvel comics and star wars,Pets at home and Emoji items now for £1 each.

It won't just be toys, I was thinking a book, DVD, a toy, bubble bath etc. I know it's cheap, but there are also things that are good quality. I've purchased a lot of CDs/DVDs in the past and I've never had any problems.

This was just an idea of a little extra, to go along the other gifts I'll get them.

Right! I've decided for the older ones: a book, a DVD, a crafty/colouring item and bubble bath.

For the younger ones: a bath toy, baby book, a wooden jigsaw and some crayons.

They had peppa pig board books in mine- also bath bombs, black people to colour in, made out of card which dd loves!

Sorry the card people are made of white card, but they are BLANK, which sounds much less racist

poundland had mashers for yes £1 last week. I looked at it saw it was real went to the entertainer nearly fainted at the price and wished i'd gone back to get them :(

they do mister men books, cars and good stationery.

The books are good. We got christmas pop up books and my little pony board books.
Some of their smellies are ok too, they have sets in the shape if a cracker.
Wouldn't recommend earphones, I got a pair when I lost my gym ones and only one ear worked

Craft stuff, stationery, colouring books etc are fine from poundland but not in a stocking unless agreed with their parents. My dsis did this once - it was a few days after Christmas my dc were very confused about why he would give them two stockings in different places, we had already reassured them that although they were at GP he would find them. Also had to explain why FC gave some to them but left their baby brother out the second time and why their aunt only gave a present to their brother not them. Took a lot of bluffing a 5 and 3 yr old to sort it out. Leave it to the parents.

They usually have good kids books, second hand dvds, character socks (Minions, Frozen etc), lots of Christmas craft stuff, match box cars etc

Right now they also have Burts Bees lip balm and lip gloss (tinted so better for teens maybe)

They also do some decent brand baby snacks like Heinz baby biscotti which might be nice for tinies.

Lots of hair bobbles, clips etc which are reasonable quality - and character brand brushes/comb sets

Also things like juice boxes, chocolate oranges, those straws with flavouring stuff to make chocolate milk etc
