Hey all, I have always been a massive festive fan and love decorating the house for Christmas. A month or two ago I stumbled upon lemax villages and Oooooh my days, I love them! I remember my nan having a ceramic style village when I was younger but it was nothing on these little buildings.

I am short on space in my house though, so I have gone for the lemax facade range which is just the front of the buildings so suitable to be wallmounted or put on a shelf etc. I am totally addicted to them now and have found myself spending time on ebay browsing scenery and little victorian people. Even railway tracks and cobble pathways on a roll

Does anybody else collect this sort of thing? Doesn't have to be lemax, are you a lego or playmobil village fan? Show me your photos and any money saving tips to try to save me a few £££

My MIL has one (no idea what make) that she puts out on her coffee table. She puts rolls of cotton wool on the base, to look like snow. It isn't really my sort of thing, but it looks lovely.

leeds that is exactly the sort of thing I remember my nan doing!

tk I was seriously torn between lemax and lego ( the lego present train!!) but the lemax won as my son is a brick demon and there is no way at all he would have let me put it back into the boxes after Christmas.

I am seriously going to have to put a budget on my lemax spending. It cost me £150 in the garden centre last week and this is what I got. I figured that for this year I would collect the facades and have a little scene in front of them with people/snow/ice skaters etc and then next year if I have some space I can always add a tier to it so the facades are at the back and then get some of the stunning little stand alone houses. I really want the little shoe shaped cobbler shop and I LOVE the fair ground ones. I am lucky enough to live within 15 miles of a fab garden centre that has some seriously beautiful and expansive ( and expensive ) displays on show. I have found a few bargains on ebay that I liked in the flesh and have shaved a few ££ off the garden centre costs but its still costing a bomb!

I used to live in Quebec and these were really popular. It seemed like everyone had them. Whilst I enjoy looking I've never wanted on in my own home... as a leaving gift one lady did give me a Lemax style Christmas Ferris wheel which is also a music box. You wind it up and the wheel spins and a twinkly tune plays. It has pride of place on my mantel every Christmas. :)
