How do you decorate yours? Photos please! I'd like a tasteful candle lit table with twinkly lights in abundance but need some ideas!

Last year mil made us a table cloth, really lovely - not my taste but very xmassy. Red, gold and blue was our theme.

Then we used my great, great aunt's willow pattern China - only time it has ever been out, as needs handwashing! And her crystal glasses.

Then nice red and gold crackers and red napkins with napkin rings.

Small wooden Xmas train with candles and a couple of other candles. - would love lots of greenery and tonnes of candles but two small dc would have grabbed it and set the table on fire.

I was very pleased with the table it was my first Xmas hosting and it went well. Couldn't really get much more on it and had to set up another table to the side for all the food - served on my good blue Denby that only comes out at Xmas.

The children's lurid plastic plates and cups did spoil the scene somewhat!

I chose one thing that is The Thing ( one year it was some gorgeous John Lewis crackers) and I base my table round it.

I have a lovely ivory tablecover (bought in the sales, it was £200 Shock reduced to £40 ) my table sits 8-10 so I need a big cover.
I have a green cover (years old)
I have a white sheer organza with tiny silver dots , to go over

White plates or white/green ivy depending on what I'm using.

Huge glass bowl filled with glass nuggets (to co-ordinate) and floating candles.

I'm hosting for first time this year so I'm going for a look similar to the one below except I'm not using talk mercury candlesticks ..mine are took talk tried it out last night for Sunday dinner. The runner is Sophie Allport Starry Night..it has little Santa's on it.I will have a light grey tablecloth and round red placemats. Crockery is plain white Denby but I have one large dish with a subtle red design too (Sophie Conran Christmas range Portmeirion ). I have not got a thing about the name Sophie Grin

For years I put a lot of effort into the the " Christmas table" Then my grandma died and among some of the things I inherited is a polyester vivid green table cloth with white candles machined sewed on.

It is everything I do not want around at Christmas time..

It is also EVERYTHING about my own childhood Christmas memories.

So now it gets put on the table and I LOVE it.. My children I have noticed are slowly also getting attached to it (I suspect because as a rule I do not allow a lot of over the top decorations) So I suspect once I go one of mine will get the cloth to use for their family.

I have a white table cloth with a purple runner. Then gold charger plates with white and gold china and crystal glasses. I bought gold and purple crackers in the John Lewis sale earlier in the year.

Last year I had vases filled with led lights and tiny purple baubles but this year I think I'm going to go for little gold tea lights.

I love it! You're right it is totally magical!

Anyone know where would be a good place to get 2 large Christmas table cloths from?

Great table springer! I'm going for simple and elegant until the cat jumps on it and trashes it.

I have a cream cloth and red napkins I will use those so I guess my table will be built around those two colours Smile

I bought a lovely runner and co-ordinating napkins from sainsburys last Christmas but they shrank in the wash (was very very annoyed) I might have to see if I can re-use the fabric...

I don't usually use a tablecloth as we have a lovely wooden table that I like to see. The tablecloth I have that fits is a pale blue and white check (about 2cm squares) and my crockery is Denby imperial blue so looks lovely on it, but limited to the blue then.

My everyday crockery is plain white. So the last few times, we had actually used white crockery.

I always have candles - both nightlights and tall candles (either all white, or a mix of white and a deep red) in glass holders.

I have bought but not yet had a chance to use big red charger mats for our plates, and gold rectangular placemats for the centre. I was intending to have a terracotta flower pot with flower arrangement (based on deep red roses, red berries and some white baby's breath with lots of greenery) and red pillar candle as my centerpiece.

We have nice glasses - DD tends to use her plastic festive glass, even though she is way tooo old for it! But DH and I bring out the nice wine glasses and have a matching set rather than 2 random ones from the kitchen cupboard. We have flutes for bubbles while opening presents, then a pair of nice goblets which are clear but have a gold trim for the table, and plain water glasses. With a clear glass water jug.

If I use the Denby crockery, I have cloth napkins the right colour. But if white, I buy some really nice festive paper ones to match the colour scheme of the rest of the table (generally red and gold, but it has been different some years).

For us I have not found good table cloth yet I got a RL one last year at TK Max but its a little too bland...I adore some on Zara home website but cant justify the cost.

There is no theme as such, and we are restricted with small clumsy dc - I wouldnt have candles yet - a few years off sadly Sad but I adore candles.
My over all idea is opulence though and I am slowly building up xmas plates from TK mazx - we have spode christmas tree ones I adore.

Whoopsagain- the only way I've found around the table space issue is a separate food table!
