Any suggestions please? For my nieces and nephews. The girls are both quite girly, like makeup, youtubers, music, etc. one boy is into Xbox, Lego , dc/marvel, Star Wars and one is sporty, plays football.

Not matching their likes, but wouldn't hesitate to recommend National Geographic Kids (usually available as a Tesco clubcard deal).

Wonderpaedia..It's fantastic.. a mix of science, philosophy and up to date topics, like Trump/Clinton. Eg..the last issue had a part in it that 'interpreted' Trump's facial expressions. So.. it is educational and captures their imagination whilst challenging concepts. It's great, honestly and so good for the age group you are looking at.
We tried National Geographic for children and it really went done a bit pallid.
Try it... I think you'll like it. I find myself reading it too

I would have thought NG Kids would be very much too young even for an 11 year old? DD (14) has had the regular National Geographic for a few years, but says it has really fallen off in quality of late (I think she told me it was bought out or there was a management change, don't really remember).

I'm not 100% convinced that magazines are that popular with secondary age dc these days unless they have a very specific interest, there's so much available on the internet.

Two good ones were How it Works and All About Space. Think they still do them.

I'm looking at them all and although I really like them, can't help thinking I should buy them iTunes vouchers instead!

NG Kids way too young for 11 and 14 year old. My ten year thinks it's below him.

My kids read some science and tech magazines, but they don't read kids' versions, they read adult ones: wired, edge, net, focus.

They read some more mag-like graphic novels but I don't understand how they choose what, so I'm not in a position to pass on tips. It's a mysterious world to me.

What about The Week (if interested in current affairs)? My neighbour gets this and the teens all read it avidly. On the grounds they hardly ever see newspapers these days.

my daughter loves her monthly minecraft magazine, the bargain thread last year had a deal on them and she got quiet upset when we said we were stopping it after the free trial/deal so it still comes through the letter box now...

Focus is good for science / tech. My 10 yr old enjoys it. First News is good for younger ones (7-11?) as well.
