Fake lego

Has anyone purchased any of the fake lego like 'Lepin' from Aliexpress? It is a fraction of the real lego price but comes in boxes that look almost identical. Just wondering whether to try it or not?

It's the most cruelest toy out there. I've tried and failed to build with that stuff. Mega blocks is a better alternative but still not as good as Lego. Which is ridiculously expensive.

Don't. Its really difficult to take apart and will lead to broken finger nails and tears (and that's not even from the kids)

The sets at Poundland are quite fun but not nearly as good as Lego.
The large planes available at the Emirates Experience are really disappointing and fall apart.

Don't do it all. It goes one of two ways. Sticks together so well you might as well bin it or falls to bits every time you move or knock it. I had to spend hours going though all our Lego to pick out the cheap sets that had been brought so I could though it all out. Never again

No. Just no, especially when it gets mixed up with your real lego and you have to spend ages separating it out. It should be illegal tbh to sell anything that is not actual real lego.

Strange, I've bought stuff from Ali Express which is to all intents and purposes Lego without the packaging. It looks identical to the original sets, and builds equally well. Once part of the "great LEGO collective" it's indistinguishable. So I suspect it comes from the same factories and moulds as the pukkah stuff. My friends who are currently living in China and who ordered the stuff first as an experiment have had the same experience. I don't think that the stuff we ordered was "Lepin" though.

It was inevitable once lego decided to set up production in China. All it's done is give the fakers a helping hand and made the fake stuff much better than it used to be.

I've bought the Wilko Lego ?Blocs before and it was fine!

We were given a Wilko pirate ship and the instructions/design of the build just wasn't up to Lego standards. I wouldn't recommend it!

I got my first one from Ali today - ordered a small one before thinking about any larger sets as presents. Only difference I can spot is that this one came in a bag rather than a box. It's an action figure, instructions look clear and bricks just the same as the ones I have already built yes I am a big kid and build lego myself. I'll build it tonight and let you know how it is!

Was recommended some copy Lego this morning. Been told it's as good as the real thing. Just bought some for my youngest for Christmas so we shall see! I've also had some of the Wilko Lego figures which are fine.

My SIL get the Wiko stuff for DN, they're all happy with it and think it's just as good at a fraction of the cost.

Wilko lego is the best 'non' lego we have come across. It does stay together unlike MegaBloks. The base plate is brilliant value.

Fake Lego is ok but not great.

Sometimes pieces just won't stick together because they are not cut right or have extra plastic bits in corners that need to be cut off and the leave a rough edge (that will cut your skin). Sometimes it will fall apart really easily or once stuck together never come apart again.

I think it has its place. Lego is really expensive so the fake stuff is great for children who otherwise would have no Lego to play with. If you can afford the real stuff then buy it but if your really can't then the fake stuff is an ok (but not perfect) substitute.

Built and put together my fake Kylo Ren last night - went together pretty well and the instructions were fine. Here he is standing next to the legit Stormtrooper!

The only one that I think is any good is Oxford at Smths. We made a gigantic Titanic which was only £40.

But proper Lego is still the best.
