Christmas with Teens and Elderly parents

So I have 2 teenagers and a DH. One of the teens will be working for part of Christmas Day and possibly other days over Christmas. I will have elderly parents visiting on Christmas Day and I will be doing all the cooking. Any ideas to make it special and things to do. My parents won't do much other than sit and talk, on the other hand that will be for a few hours not all day. Christmas seems to just be boring and hard work - help me to change my mind!

Could you and DH and dc not working go to the pub for a Christmas morning drink?
Meet up with friends for an hour in the morning?
Go to a church service?
Will your parents stay all day or go home by early evening? Could you have people over in the evening for drinks and board games?

I agree with trying to get more people over in the evening. Preferably not family members so everyone behaves a little better.

In my experience this is a tough mix of people but it depends on how cheerful your parents are and how engaged your teenagers are.

Try and get a film or two that you'd all enjoy. Cards games can be better for older people than board games. Crackers with an activity, like mini bells, can be fun.

Otherwise Wine and the best of luck Grin
