Christmas 2016

I must be slightly mad.
Everything is done.
DD in bed. Everything wrapped.
Christmas pudding bin liner out ready for discarded wrapping in the morning.
And yet my mind wanders to what I'll get for next years Christmas, how I'll decorate the tree, wondering what will be in dotcomgiftshop January sale that I can get for stocking fillers next year...
First time I've mentally started shopping for the next Christmas before this one has happened!
I blame this board.

It's ok.. I brought some things from the boots online sale today for next Christmas!!!
That's three presents sorted already Xmas Smile

FondantFancy66 · 24/12/2015 23:10

I always get DH a t shirt to wear in bed. Accidentally bought two. The second is wrapped and in my Christmas drawer for next year. Also planning on buying stuff in January sales. I need to, three growing kids are expensive!

jamtartandcustard · 24/12/2015 23:21

Yup already planning next year too. You are not alone

birdboo · 24/12/2015 23:23

I have a list too. Wrapping paper, fancy cards and decks features highly.

I'm hoping too that this is our last adult boozey one. Next year I really hope that there are 3 of us.

Whataboutreindeer · 24/12/2015 23:25

I've bought the Christmas jumpers and wrapping paper for next year. Sales started. Got to be done!

Davros · 24/12/2015 23:29

Birdbob fingers crossed Flowers

ohhelpohnoitsa · 25/12/2015 00:04

For various reasons this is a very pared down Christmas. I haven't even got my decs (and I usually go Christmas mad) so I can't wait to get all my usual stuff out next year. I have also got a few left over pressies that I will stock for next year.

raisin3cookies · 25/12/2015 00:12

I can't even imagine next Christmas - we will be living in our first home, hopefully, so I have a general idea of going all-out with the decorations but haven't even begun planning presents.

candykane25 · 25/12/2015 23:06

Good luck birdboo!

Already bought gift wrap and considering down loading a Christmas app for my phone...

Pasithea · 26/12/2015 00:00

Stuck in hospital nothing else to do. Decs aren't even up yet at home. 4 2016 pressies bought.

UninventiveUsername · 26/12/2015 00:02

I clicked on this thread thinking 'what a nutter', got halfway through the second post and found myself about to open a new tab so I could check out the Boots sale for future gift ideas! Xmas Hmm

Bluecarrot · 26/12/2015 00:08

Yup. I'm making notes while it's clear in my head - less gifts, less fussy food and less worried about how dust free the surfaces are. More time with family on the day instead of prepping food, more time volunteering instead of time spent shopping and more money donated instead of buying gifts.

Though at one point today I looked up how much it would cost to eat out next year and then if going abroad might be feasible....

cantgonofurther · 26/12/2015 09:35

I just brought dd2 some playmobil for Christmas 2016.

ElasticPants · 26/12/2015 17:03

I'm thinking about making a list for next years presents. This year every item was planned and ticked off, it worked really well, I might shop all year round for next Christmas.

Dh and I have decided for next year we are getting a larger tree, a chopped one rather than potted, and ds is getting a train set to go round the bottom of it.Grin

blueturtle6 · 26/12/2015 18:25

Bought my 3 month old next years Christmas jumper...in Xmas eveGrin

Mincedpie · 26/12/2015 18:31

I have bought a few gifts from boots today, Christmas cards and another set of fairy lights for the tree, as it looks a bit bare this year.

We have so many people to buy for, we'd never manage it without buying in the sales

NowBringUsSomeFuzzpiggyPudding · 26/12/2015 18:36

I got two things for Christmas 2016 - one just before Christmas and the other today. They are both things I've been really really wanting to get (a very lovely wooden puzzle and marble run) but were on sale. Woohoo!

I will also get next year's giftwrap half price when I go to Boots - I do that every year. Started when DH worked for them (discount!) but I kept doing it because I really love their paper designs.

NowBringUsSomeFuzzpiggyPudding · 26/12/2015 18:37

Pas sorry you're in hospital at Christmas. Thanks Hope you can enjoy a delayed one when you get home.

Guitargirl · 26/12/2015 19:06

I make notes every year of things which worked well and things which didn't. For example last year I made a note not to get theatre tickets for Boxing Day as last year we were (well, I was) so exhausted that going out at 5pm in the pouring rain to watch the railway children was the last thing I felt like doing.

This year I have made a note to buy more food next year which I actually want to eat. And by that I mean cheap things like wotsits, Pringles, maltesers and milk tray. Not cheese straws from waitrose.

My mum bless her, who usually starts asking around April time what she can get the DCs for Christmas in an aggrieved tone as though it's Christmas Eve and I am still holding out on her, has broken her personal record by asking me on Boxing Day what she can get them next year.

FondantFancy66 · 26/12/2015 19:39

I may have just bought a Christmas jumper......

lalonso13 · 26/12/2015 21:01

My local sainsburys had all their wrapping paper and cards reduced to 10p! I've bought enough for a life time!Grin also bought mine and my daughters Xmas jumpers and pjs for next year Grin X
