Christmas

One festive thing per day throughout December - who fancies it?

I've had a frankly shitty year and am really looking forward to Christmas.

I thought a non-stressful Christmassy activity a day would be lovely to prepare for December 25.

Anyone fancy joining in?

I'm planning a mix of easy crafts, some carols etc or some festive food and drink to make me feel more festive and less frazzled!

Nice idea Xmas Smile and it eases you into the festive season as well as spreading out the nice bits .

I'll have a think and check back.
Here's to a non-shitty December Wine

I'd love to join in! What do you have planned for 1st Dec?

Isn't opening advent calanders enough?Grin

Lovely idea. I'm in. Is it okay that at least two of my events will be stirring the alcohol stewing fruits ready for a rather late pudding? Grin

Cooking I think that is EXACTLY the kind of peaceful Christmassy thing that fits the bill!

So perhaps December 1 should start on a low-key note -

Festive activity one: five quiet minutes to drink something lovely and listen to your favourite non-overplayed Christmas song.
For me it'll be a mug of hot chocolate, while listening to December Will Be Magic Again by Kate Bush.

Me, me can I join?! Grin Our activity for the 1st December is our North Pole Breakfast, which simply involves a Poundland plastic santa tablecloth, festive plates and cups, their advent calendars on the table, chocolate milk and toasted Tesco christmas tree crumpets with maple syrup Smile.

Sorry, in my overexcitement, I think I misunderstood. Is this a one-per-day-thing for the grown-ups rather than children's activities?

Ooh I love the excuse for a breakfast! Am so nicking it. My kids are 8 - 14 but I reckon they'd still go for that. Brill, thanks. Advent calendars, Xmas tree eggy bread etc. wonderful!

I'd like to join in too please. Had a pretty crap year and getting worse

Just me and my DH we don't have any kids.

Both have an advent calendar so activity could be based around that.

Unfortunately I'm not up to thinking of ideas though, so would love to share steal yours.

Thanks Smile

We've got one of those pocket advent calendars with a small decoration in each pocket, now that we have a teenager I am thinking of writing a smal note for each day as well as a chocolate - things like 'choose a Christmas film to watch', 'write ten cards', 'wrap presents', 'special breakfast', 'hot chocolate out' etc etc ............. some might have to be chores 'get house ready for guests' Grin.

What a lovely thread bangbang - will watch with interest.

I've already located my Christmas CD's (some were gift-with-magazine ones from when DD was a baby - she's nearly 25!) for the car and am putting together I-tunes festive playlist. Will start playing both on 1 December.

Will have a look for advent calendars in town later.

Have a small stash of Christmas scented candles ready to go - Lilyflame & Yankee.

We have the elf doing/leaving something each day plus doing advent calendar with activity/toys for the kids xx

That sounds like a good idea. Even if it just the Christmas 'chores' of writing cards and wrapping gifts. With a bit of festive music in the background!

A couple of years ago, a group of friends and I did similar, but we uploaded a 'festive photo' to instagram each day. We all used the same hash-tag (unique one that meant something to us, but that a random person would be highly unlikely to choose!), so we could all keep track of each others 'instagram advent'.

I'll probably be doing this anyway, but I'll join in the festivities regardless Grin

Ok, day one! Super-easy:

Listen to your favourite least-heard festive song while you sit with a nice hot choc/cup of tea/mulled wine!

I've gone for December Will be Magic Again by Kate Bush!

Tomorrow - write some Christmas cards, or buy something for the Christmas cupboard - nuts, chocs, pickled walnuts...

Written 10 x cards.

Put my 'Mum's Christmas CD" on in the car while nipping into town to take advantage of Sainsburys '25% off when you buy 6 bottles offer'. Stocked up on prosecco and feeling a little festive in spite of mild weather Xmas Smile

I played Christmas carols with my orchestra. We spent about an hour playing Christmas music. It was fun.

Tomorrow dd2 wants to put up her small tree in her bedroom.

Already written all my cards Xmas Blush so here's my low key start to advent: I wore my new Christmas themed scarf today Xmas Grin and had lots of lovely comments on it.

I have also baked and decorated gingerbread cupcakes (with spicy ginger buttercream) and mince pie cupcakes (with mixed spice and brandy buttercream) for sharing tomorrow. Xmas Smile
