I am sorry if there's another thread going but I can't find anything. I would love some ideas for a main present for my 8YO DD who's already swamped by playmobil, sylvanian and lego and doesn't like dolls. TIA

Toy wise DD(9.5) loves Schliech Bayala and is getting this from GPs with a few small pieces from us. She has collected it for 3 years and has a fair bit already

www.schleich-s.com/en/GB/toys/magic_elf_castle_with_accessories/

We have moved on to things for her room this year, new lamp and rug, books, deco patch owl to cover, books, a couple of special dresses.

DD (8.5 yo) is getting:

  • A keyboard, a keyboard stool and some music books (inexpensive 'big' present - keyboard was £29.99 @ B&M Bargains, stool was £19.99 from Amazon and the music books were around £15 for both)
  • The Lego Elves collection and a purple Lego storage brick
  • Disney Descendants DVD, books and dolls
  • Our Generation Sienna doll
  • Some Harry Potter bits
  • Shopkins ice-cream van
  • A beginners knitting set
  • Monopoly board game

My parents have bought her a tablet.

Dds 9 but 10 after Christmas. She doesn't like dolls either.

So far she's getting
A pikachu onesie (she loves pokemon)
A coding for beginners book
A minecraft soft toy
Harry Potter colouring in book
Harry Potter trivial pursuit
A Greek myth book
Pikachu slippers to match
New bedding

Her dad's buying her a kindle for her main present and I'm going to pay for her amazon account thing that means there's books to download that she won't have to pay for. Not sure what that's called but that's her main present!

Will get her the newest now cd, some smellies, electric toothbrush, stationery and the rest of the percy jackson books she wants.

Dd is getting a bike. I got a total bargain in Halfords last week - end of line Pendleton bike of perfect size and colour, reduced from £250 to £125! Apparently they'd only put it out a few minutes before I walked in. Dd has seen it as we needed to check the size and she knew that was the plan anyway. She will be getting a chess set and some playmobil from other relatives. I also plan to get that Harry Potter colouring in book too.

DD (just 9) is getting:
A CD player with iPod dock (she has my ancient iPhone 3G with stories on it).
A £20 camcorder as that was the top thing on her wish list.

She had loads of Barbie/Playmobil for her birthday so we've decided we are not adding to it although family might.

My dd just 9 is having amongst other things a new bike, origami paper and a book, Dick King Smith books, pjs undies and socks, and hair accessories. Have tried to cut back a bit this year and buy fewer more exciting things than the usual big pile of stuff.

Sorry to jump on the thread but can I just ask those who are buying Playmobil for 9 yr olds what sort of sets you are buying?

DD 8.5 plays with hers quite a lot and we have the pony farm, some fairies/ unicorns and hotel. I have bought a couple of small pony / stable sets and wondered if she was getting too old. Would love to think I could still be adding to it next year!
Have also bought Pony ranch advent calendar.

Was in a similar dilemma with my dd who is 9yo, she has lots of Sylvainians, play mobil and lego already so have decided on a Hudl 2, it will be her first tablet so hoping she will like it.

Have also got her some smaller lego sets, a crystal mining kit, a few dvds and a horsey hoodie that I think she will love.

nearlyadoctor she got the big Princess castle thing last year and has added to it. She already had vets and horse bits so asked for more Princess/Fairy and animals/farm for her birthday. Her younger brother has pirates, emergency services, dinosaurs and Wild West so it's not unusual for them to mix it all up!

Oh and to add, 14yo dc1 loves 'setting up' the Playmobil sets up for the younger 2 so you've a few years yet by my reckoning Wink

Fab, thank you. I was hoping we had a few more years. We have had Sylvanians for about 4 years and they were never really played with - started Playmobil at 7.5 last Christmas and was a mega hit Smile
