'Get her something very girly'

I spoke to SiL about a present for DNiece 6.5.
SiL suggested a Girls World head or something similarly girly.

I've looked at Girls Worlds but a lot of the reviews are terrible, please can I have more girly ideas?

I'd just go with the suggestion. My sister had a Girls World head about 25 years ago. I was so jealous but was never allowed to play with it.

That said, I would bristle with rage at someone saying 'get something girly' for their 6yo, tbh. And go out of my way to get something gender neutral.

But it depends on your relationship with your SIL!

If SIL has suggested Girls World OP I'd go for that. Bead sets or any of those craft kits would probably be nice too.

I saw a girls world head for nails today, it was either wilco, morrisons, M&S,
never seen it before, but have never bought that type of thing, so don' usually look tbh.
It looked good for girly girls.
Mine would have hated it and it would have stayed in the box

That generation of my family including my DCs are 6 our girls, 1 boy.

This particular DN is thought of as the tomboy in the family particularly by my Mum who likes to stereotype her Grandchildren grr so she often receives more gender neutral presents.

I think DN has girly tastes but hasn't always been allowed to indulge them again by my Mum so in this instance I'm happy to buy her a Girls World if that's what will make her happy.

Similarly, I'll buy her a remote control car, a rugby ball or whatever else she wants.

I just don't want to get her something that falls apart.

A Girls' World Head sounds pretty terrifying to me (am assuming that it is some kind of disembodied head that one makes up, styles etc - vaguely remember them from the 80s, but was fortunate not to have ever seen or touched one.)
Nontheless, if dn wants one, then why not? However shoddy, it's unlikely to fall apart on sight. I can't imagine it's too shoddy, anyway. I imagine, were I a toy manufacturer and so inclined, I'd be able to manufacture a fairly robust rubber head.
And they're probably enormous fun, and I'm probably just a big killjoy. Regardless, just buy the child what she wants - you clearly love her :)

I liked mine when I was a kid. I'd go with what she suggested, just in case your niece is expecting it now.

Tesco have the Disney styling heads for about £15. I think they look better than the Girls World ones.

I would get it for her but they are bloody terrible. I bought the Dts some last year and it barely had any hair and i ended up throwing it out after a month.

B&M have Disney styling heads that come with a dress for the little girl too so maybe that would be better as when the doll broke they could still have the dress.

I have seen Little Mermaid styling heads in B&M.

Also a Design A Friend Doll, from Argos, would make a lovely present. I would recommend them.

It's lasted although not heavily played with. Personally in your situation I would phone SIL and say that the Girls World one has bad reviews, you have found an alternative styling head x, is that alright or will DN be upset if she doesn't get the specific one? Although I don't think these dolls have improved much in 30 years and are still as rubbish as when we had them, so not sure there is a superb answer.
