It's beginning to feel a lot like (the run-up to) Christmas : )

The fire's lighting, the kids are in bed and I'm curled up on the couch about to open this year's Christmas Good Food magazine Xmas Grin

I have my whole menu chosen already, mind you, but that's not really the point

It has been donkey's years since I've been this excited! [santa]

I love Christmas and I think I love the anticipation even more than the main event, so the first couple weeks of properly looking forward to it are really very special, along with the first couple of weeks of December. I look at the whole thing as two whole months of happy, cosy feelings and I don't even mind if the real thing isn't quite what I envisage.

Sigh. So much cosiness.

I'm planning things to do at the weekends in Nov/Dec Xmas Grin

So far:

In Nov:

I am taking DS to a Skill /Career Event
DH and I are going out one Friday so will spend the weekend recovering
I'll take DD and her mate Christmas Shopping
Cash up the £2 jar

In December:

DS birthday (meal out)
Trip to London (probably myself and DD, the males in our house don't do shopping)
Shopping trip for DH and myself one Friday in December

Family coming on Christmas Eve, so I need to plan when I'm doing the Big Shop (it'll be the main shop then a smaller fresh veg/fresh foods one)

Costco trip for drinks (and binbags)

I need a day to peruse the Christmas magazines (I'm looking out for them soon)

And massive tidying up. Oh Yes.

This year definitely seems more magical than usual, which isn't easy as I LOVE Christmas and it always feels special! Starbucks have got the red cups and they even had a Christmas tree up and Christmas music playing.

I've got a Christmas playlist on Spotify and cannot wait to start playing it. I shan't until December, though.

Me too! We moved house yesterday so Christmas planning has been delayed this year but now it's full steam ahead!

Also we've moved from a shoe box of a house to a nice sized on so can finally have a big fat tree in the bay window and actually have people round for meals etc over the Christmas period! I can't wait!

I've started playing my Singalong Christmas Carols CD in the car, in an attempt to indoctrinate my daughters. I'm hoping the older one will start to know some of the words if I play it enough!

Also been to Hobbycraft this morning to buy some christmassy crafts.
I'm planning to sew an envelope out of felt. I've got some little christmassy activities planned for next month (like collecting pinecones to paint, or visiting the local Christmas market) and I'm going to put details of each activity in the envelope for the relevant morning.

Today after lunch DH is taking the DCs to see his mother and then to softplay. I'll have the whole afternoon to myself, and I'm going to put on carols and make Christmas cakes like a mad, Christmas-obsessed loon. Bliss Grin

I've been reading all the threads here and I'm starting to get that warm excited glow. November is flying by - can't believe it's the 8th already!

I was trying desperately to restrain myself as I'm known for getting a bit over-excited. I'm sick and went upstairs to have a little sleep. Came down and DS(6) had put on The Grinch. We're onto The Santa Clause. [santa]

That's it now. I'm getting the CDs out for the car. Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

Bumping this thread because I'm alone in the house with the christmas music again - I'm doing a big cleanup so we'll be ready to put the decorations up next weekend, and the tree the weekend after that.

I'm starting to wake up early in the mornings with the excitement. I'm an idiot Xmas Grin
