Want to get her something nice, that she probably wouldn't get herself as she likes nice things but doesn't like to spend money on herself. She always gets me something very lovely!

However it's quite a tight brief so any assistance gratefully received!

No 'clutter' - she hasn't really got room for any more ornaments, pictures etc, though she does like them.
Not sure what size for clothes (and worried I'd also get the style etc wrong).
Not a big jewellery/perfume wearer.
Not really into crafty things (like quilts etc).
Not a big traveller. Probably not a spa-day kind of person.
Early 60's.
Not a drinker. Likes food but not a 'foody'.

Budget £60 - £80.

I did wonder about a hamper with several smaller things.

when I read this back I think it's going to be slippers again

What about a voucher for afternoon tea somewhere nice for the both of you? Relaxing and pampery without the spa. A spa day is my idea of hell on earth, but I adored afternoon tea! The kind with the mini sandwiches, tiny cakes, coffee in silver pots etc.

Some nice leather gloves, scarf and purse?

Anything from Betty's tearoom, their mail order service is very good. friend of mine ordered a gift box - fruit cake, tea, fat rascals last week for her 90 something rather smart --bloody difficult Grandma & she was "terribly impressed". Rare praise Grin

I got my MIL some cashmere socks and Fornum and Mason tea last Christmas.

I'm 60 too and I would love tea out. It wouldn't have to be a full afternoon tea, just tea with a slice of cake in a posh tea shop. Especially on one of those long grey afternoons in January or February.

Or,

A photo calendar of DGCs
A photo key ring of DGCs
A phone cover with DGCs photo on it
A DGC drawing made into a mouse mat

Or a manicure before Christmas

We do a hamper every year for dpil
Each gets a nice pair of gloves
Wine
Posh chocolates
Fil gets socks and DVD/book
Mil gets a voucher for local beauty salon (first time we did this it was her first time ever in a salon, now she goes weekly)
And a candle, this year we're getting one of those ones that as they burn they reveal a piece of jewellery, just a bit different.

How about theatre tickets or a one-day cookery course? If she's into sport, maybe take her to an event?

Magazine subscription is my go-to gift for people who don't need more clutter.

My mil is so lovely in so many ways. The first Christmas after we were married and we stayed over, she gave me my first ever Christmas stocking, so I started making her one too.

Her main presents on the day are some wine/chocolate /consumables. The stocking's a bit more personal and she gets to open it away from everyone watching. All sorts of little bits I see which I think she'd like (which aren't too costly if she wants to bin them) some extra nice chocolates, and an orange for some reason Grin
