Christmas

What to get DP? This happens every single year...

I know it's early on, but we're having our second baby in November and I want to have Christmas sorted out as early as possible - I want to have wrapped all the presents by the end of September so we don't have any stress later on in the year when we're already juggling a newborn and a toddler!

I've got tonnes of ideas for everyone except my husband - every year it's the same! He doesn't have any hobbies as such, likes reading and watching stuff, but is quite picky so there's nothing obvious I can get him...in the past I've got him foodie gifts which I could do again, but it's beginning to seem really unimaginative.

He has a real thing for organising and stationery stuff - last year he asked for a particular diary/planner which I had to order from Japan (!) and a sock organiser thing for his sock drawer. Does anyone have any super duper organisey type stuff/websites I can look at?

Clothes are a bit of a no-go... experience type days out he's not keen on .... what else is there? I have asked him if there's anything he wants but he can't really think of anything!

Honestly I would give cash/a voucher of some nature.

My DP is similar. Nigh on impossible to buy for and worse, if I do find sown thing I think he will love he has no clue how to express happiness and gratitude at a gift. Just always looks non plussed and awkward so I'm giving in. Gonna buy him some Levi's as I know they will be used at least!!

If he's into food then maybe make a voucher for a nice good restaurant and say you will pay for dinner. That is his gift.
I'm doing that for my father as he wants to go to Raymond Blanc's La Maison ridiculously overpriced but this is my dad so I'm sucking it up

Subscription for spicebox? You get spices and recipe cards delivered each month.

Or magazine subscription like national geographic?

Would he be interested in growing his own food?

Can you ask him to set up an Amazon wish list?

Lakeland have some organisey type things. What about stuff for his wardrobe like a hanger that holds multiple pairs of trousers, shoe storage pockets or boxes, tie hanger, belt hanger. Or what about a gentleman's night tray, you can get some very smart leather ones with compartments for putting watch, spectacles, loose change, cufflinks and tie clip etc so that they are ready for the morning.

Agree that a restaurant voucher would be good.

Thanks for all the ideas! Spicebox sounds like it might be a winner!

We did try growing our own food and it was really fun, Fettucine, but we gave up when we had our first son and didn't have as much spare time - our garden is a bit of a wilderness at the moment and I can't imagine it is going to improve much in the next year!

Imperial, he does have a wishlist, but it's got a lot of stuff from circa 2007 on it - I'll give him a nudge to update it.

Girlywhirly: a gentleman's night tray thing is something he asked for last year, so you're clearly on the right lines.

Update! Inspired by the suggestion of the Spicebox subscription I've been googling other subscriptions, and found this old article which has some AMAZING ideas, lots of which would be great for DH!

Posting here for other people with difficult recipients to buy for!

I know the feeling re children and no gardening!

I have got DH an 'allotinabox' before. A little box with different seeds and gardening stuff in. Quite a cool
Pressure.

And also one of //these to successfully grow plants indoors which look pretty Grin

you can get bags that you pack things into before putting them into a holdall or suitcase for holidays - might appeal to his organisational side?

Best present I ever bought my DH was a Swiss Army knife - he uses it all the time and there are so many variations that there is always something to suit your budget.
