He LOVES Dinosaurs... I need to say this repeatedly... Whatever I buy needs to be dinosaur related, however - he has loved them since he was 2 - he owns almost anything I can think of relating to dinosaurs (and loves it all!)

He has already:

  • Almost all vtech switch n go dinos (including the giant t-rex)
  • a paleontologist kit (made by me last xmas) including bag, outfit, binoculars, fossil hunting tools, fossil specemins
  • about a million toy dinosaurs
  • loads of dinosaur books - both fact and story - he loves them all and reads them regularly
  • Fossil dig kits
  • build a dino type sets
  • dinosaur colouring sets
  • dinosaur bedding
  • dino themed room (pteradactyl light / curtains / giant wall stickers)
  • DVDs - disney dinosaur, walking with dinosaurs, the land before time

He will turn 6 just after christmas, and his interest is NOT waning! I'm running out of ideas so any from anyone else with a dino mad kid would be appreciated!!!

How about some dinosaur cookie cutters, green food colouring, brown and black writing icing pens, and some cookie mixes? I bet you'd be able to find a dinosaur apron and maybe oven gloves too?

Laser pegs here my son is getting the monster truck set.

Is he into Lego? The new Jurassic world Lego looks great and is what my ds2 is getting for his 5th birthday in a couple of weeks.

I was going to say Lego as I have the same issue and that's what my boys are going to get!

We managed to expand my ds1's interests by combining toys with what he loved. It was all about Tinkerbell for ages, anything we bought had to be Tinkerbell, his favourite movie was Tinkerbell and the Pirate fairy so we went from there. Bought him a wooden pirate ship and figures including a Tinkerbell figure, this grew an interest in pirates so we bought pirate Lego which grew a massive obbsession with Lego and now we have loads of the stuff. He still loves Tinkerbell but now his interests have grown present buying for him is SO SO much easier.

'Dinosaur voucher' for a trip to the Natural History museum? Depends how far away from London you are

What about taking him to a dinosaur attraction? An experience is better than stuff & the build up & prep adds so much to the fun.

www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/familyholidays/11667891/UK-dinosaur-attractions.html

You could print some info & put it in a wrapped up envelope.

oooh lots of ideas - thanks!

didn't know about the jursassic world lego - that will definitely be on the list!

He's been to the natural history museum 3 times Blush He loves it there!

Midnight dinosaur - thats exactly what we do with him (expanding the ideas) - but its getting tricky... I got him into all sorts bless him!

This is getting embarrasing now, but I clicked the dinosaur search on amazon.. he has the top trumps, and the torch, and playmobil, stamper set... it goes on!!!

I did spot the tattoos though - he'd like them, so that will be a good stocking filler!

When we first came to NZ, we went to a car dealership to buy a car. The guy had a Roboraptor in his office and ds2 fell in love with it. He played with it for ages, and bearing in mind we had never met this guy before, he let our ds take this dinosaur home for the night as long as we returned it the next day.

It was soooo cool, we had great fun with it. Unfortunately it's 3x the price here and have never been able to get it for him but it seems quite reasonable in the UK.

Dvd series thats a bit more obscure but definitely appeals to tat age range and above- prehistoric park. Docu-drama style.

Dino Lego good, but it's age 8+ so he might need a bit of help building it. My 7 yo loved it but got his 10 yo bro to build it. Playmobil dinosaur sets are very good.

If you google dinosaur top in eBay you also get a hooded top in green that if you hold your arms together has the jaws of a dinosaur. I just bought one.....they come from China so take a bit of time, but is ok quality for the price.
You can also get t shirts with t-Rex hates..... T-Rex hates clapping, t-Rex hates push-ups which are quite amusing (as t rexes arms are too short...geeky lol).

I also just bought a greetings card from paperchase which had several carnivores standing over a BBQ saying 'who invited the herbivore' with a diplodocus saying 'I brought hummus!'.....I'm going to put it in a frame for my ds for Xmas.

Or tickets to see dinosaur zoo? Think that's still doing the rounds. And the theatre version of walking with dinosaurs might come round soon (been at least a couple of years since it was last on)

The Everything Dinosaur site has some great stocking fillers like origami Dinosaurs and replica fossils and models to build. We ordered a lot of bits for party bags from them and I was impressed
