I'm shamelessly looking for ideas as I have none! Wink

How old are your DC and what are you planning to buy them?

No idea. Haven't thought about it at all as they have birthdays to get past first (October and November)

Dd aged 8 - absolutely no idea
Ds aged 6 - as above
Dd aged 3 (4 on 20th December) has asked for sylvanian families which I know she'll love. But birthday and Xmas 4 days apart is a right pain the arse to be honest always feel she misses out.

Thanks OP for starting this thread will watch with interest and hope for some inspiration.

A play kitchen. One of those big ones and hopefully a car to ride in.

DDs 7 & almost 5 by then - joint present of Disney Infinity 3, and some bits from LUSH. They're each getting a personalised desk and chair (my DSis is making them) but other than that I really don't know. And I should get a wriggle on as I really don't fancy battling the shops at 7 months pregnant mid-December.

Mine are all young. No doubt it will be some kind of overpriced, noisy lump of plastic with flashing lights that will make them deliriously happy Grin

I don't like to buy too early because inevitably in the run up to Christmas they'll see an advert for the aforementioned lump of plastic and have to have it. Buying early always seems to lead to disappointment.

I think DS (5) will be having a Kindle Fire and minecraft stuff.

Lego, Lego and more Lego! Probably from the Creator/City/Technic ranges. Haven't managed to narrow my wishlist down yet! We are all Lego-crazy in the fuzzpig house - I've chosen a set for DH already and I'll be asking for a set for me too :o

The DCs will be 6 and 8 at Christmas.

The other toys will probably be a transformer for DS and a doll/outfit for DD (I've seen a really nice gymnastics doll outfit which she would love as she's started gym club this year).

Also they always get a couple of really lovely books (gift editions of chapter books normally - I've got the complete Narnia for DD), some DVDs and a family board game or six, if I don't get a handle on my Christmas Shopping addiction two.

I sometimes get some craft stuff to top them up (pens, paint, Hama bead supplies, collage bits etc) because we can't really justify 'just buying them' throughout the year IYSWIM, so I'll see if there's anything they need nearer the time.

We do the Christmas Eve jammies thing (thanks to reading it on MN!) so they'll both get onesies, and probably a festive jigsaw to do before bed.

Stockings - lego minifigure, top trumps set, character undies and socks, small cuddly (probably a Mario or Pokemon character), something sweet and if I can actually find any, a mini Wentworth jigsaw or similar.

My parents/grandma prefer giving money, so what we've started doing is using that for club fees (we home ed, so they do quite a lot of clubs) which everyone is happy with - and it does put a limit on 'stuff' entering the house.

Crikey, I'm supposed to be cutting back this year Blush

An iPad or an Xbox. Waiting to decide. Probably an iPad.

DS1 wants a Wii U and mario kart. DS2 is getting a ferrari trike. Other things that DS would like, but will ask all the family for are star wars disney infinity, avengers game/toys and the minion with the guitar. And probably other stuff in the run up Hmm

DS aged 3 1/2... wooden dolls house I'm painting as a superhero lair, figures and sets to go with, playmobil jail&policeman on motorbike, playmobil spy car/robo villian car/recycle truck, marble run, lego juniors set, dressing up box.

DD aged 20 months, rosebud doll house&accessories, pram, doll, cot, minnie mouse car set, dressing up box, aquadoodle.

Stockings I'll pop in goodies as I see them, so far the have a batman minion teddy, mlp teddy, small figures, diecast cars/planes, gliders, toothbrush timers.

Have the imaginext police advent for ds and a playmobil 123 set for dd and some activity books for the run up.

Thats what we have so far & I'll leave anything else until nearer the time. I prefer starting early so we can concentrate on days out and we have a holiday in December so want it all out of the way. If theres something they desperately want in dec its no big deal to get it. Plus pretty much everything has been half price or less, got the silvercross buggy for £17 on prime day and its up at £65 on amazon just now so its not cost that much really. Smile

Cookie I love the sound of your repainted doll's house! (Or are we supposed to say 'upcycled'? :o) Can I ask, what type of paint are you using please? And are you then varnishing etc? My DCs were given a wooden doll's house and I'd love to sand it down and repaint it to give it a new lease of life.

DD is getting a metal toy shopping trolley. We live opposite a small supermarket and she'd LOVE taking it with her.

DS is getting a shit ton of lego.

All I've got so far.

fuzz its pretty cool if I do say so myself Grin I bought the toys r us one last year for £20 in the sale, went in the other week and its up at £100! I've used acrylic paint but plain emulsion on the floors. To be honest I was going to mod podge it haha but should really look at proper varnish I guess. The outside will be the old fashioned comic book 'pow' 'bang' etc but its taking an age to paint. The darker colours are going on easier though. I got all the imaginext dc figures from eBay and the batmobil and spiderman stunt plane, then each room will be themed to 6 superheroes with a run way in the loft bit that comes off, I'm assuming he'll use the playmobil jail alongside. Hes just starting to get obsessed with goodies and baddies so hoping it'll be a hit.

I'll post a pic when its done Wink Can see it being a pinterest fail of epic proportions but it gives me a hobby in the hour a day I'm not cleaning, amusing and feeding people Grin

Sounds amazing! I'm actually now tempted to change the theme of the doll's house if I get round to painting it (at the moment it's just a generic pale pink thing) :o

DD2 will be 8 months so not getting anything from us, DD1 will give her a little something and family can do the rest.

DD1 (3) is getting a leap pad which I bought on sale using tesco club card vouchers during a boost

DD will be nearly 3, and we're planning on getting her a swing set for our garden as her main present. Minor presents will probably be books, doctor's kit, play-doh and duplo. Have barely bought anything yet though, I'm not organised at all.

I like to get an idea each year around the end of summer so I can start tracking things on camelcamelcamel.

My daughter age 8 has so far mentioned:

  • Sew Cool
  • A bath and highchair for her dolls
  • Animagic helicopter
  • Chocolate lolly/coin maker
  • CD player
  • Chemistry set
  • Some little fairy figurines

Unfortunately the prices don't seem to be dropping much on Amazon. But if i remember rightly, there were huge drops in October for things I was tracking last year, and then again at the start of December.

Gosh, my daughter is 7 not 8! What a terrible mother I am. Blush

She will be 8 just after Christmas though. I've been looking at a lot of the chemistry sets etc and they all seem to be 8+ so hopefully theyll be okay for her.

My Ds1 turns 11 just before Christmas and I have to say it's a chuffing annoying age for presents!

He's not really into toys (though never has been really) but isn't into teen stuff yet. I need inspiration!

He'll get some football stuff and a bit of Lego but I can't think of anything else.

My DS2 turns 8 just before Christmas (didn't plan their birthdays well!) and his presents will be heavy on the Jurassic World toys. Also got him a big wooden toy kitchen. He's been after one for ages but I thought he'd be over the idea by now but it's the one thing he really wants. Managed to get a great one from FB local sales page.

11 is a tough age, you have my sympathies Grin I remember it well with my nephews.

If i remember rightly, their parents at that age bought them clothes, trainers, new outfit and boots for their football club, DVDs, games for their computer, tickets for a tour of a football stadium. One of them was fairly into science, so got a telescope and planetarium thing for his room. Remote control things - helicopter, car, tarantula - were also a hit from around 10-12 years, too.
