I would love some suggestions for gentle smelling perfumes for an 11 & 14 yr old please. Something girly but not overwhelming....and inexpensive!

My DD likes the Katy Perry ones. Britney Spears also quite good for teens - both are quite inexpensive. Anna Sui do some nice girly ones in really beautiful bottles.

Zara do some nice perfume, quite citrussy, light and not cloying. Probably more suited to the 11 year old.

Chanel Coco Mademoiselle.

Be warned: it isn't cheap.

My DDs like the hollister body sprays

Laguna beach I think is the favourite, they're about £9 each but often on 3 for2

Coco Mademoiselle is too old for ages 11 and 14! :-)

I would suggest Escada Delicate Notes, The Body Shop Scents of The World Range, a few Avons are good: Little Red Dress, Only Imagine and Pur Blanca. Or try M and S Florentyna White, or Limited Collection Buttefly which has a Marc Jacobs style bottle and smells like DKNY Be Delicious.

I would steer them away from vanilla/cupcake candyfloss scents otherwise companies will still keep making them and I don't like them
(selfish emoticon).

If you want to go high end try Chanel Chance Eau Tendre or Marc Jacobs Daisy, or lower end try Elizabeth Arden Green Tea plus the lovely flankers , which are usually very good.

How about the One Direction perfume.

My mum wanted to buy some perfume for my niece (aged 12), but didn't want anything too grown up. the sales staff recommended it and said all the girls were going mad for it. My niece loved it, despite being too 'cool' for the band.

My DD likes Daisy by Mark Jacobs but as a cheaper alternative she uses the rose scented collection by Body Shop -sprays, creams etc

I bought a box with all perfumes in miniature so a good way of seeing which one she likes best ; the Perfume shop was selling them for £4.99 so worth checking out your local shop
