What figures for Melissa and Doug castle?

I got a bargain Melissa and Doug wooden castle on Christmas Eve last year, I have it stashed for the dds (will be 3.5 and nearly 2 at Christmas) to share this year. I'd like to get some figures, and maybe some furniture to go in it, and I'm looking early in the hope of picking them up on ebay.

What should I be looking for? The castle is packed away in the loft so I'd rather not get it out to inspect. I'm swaying between the Melissa and Doug figures, as these will presumably fit scale-wise, but they don't look that robust, elc wonderland figures, playmobil or schleich figures. If anyone knows which, if any, fit the castle ok could they let me know? Or if there's another type of figure I should be looking for?

Thanks!

I forgot important disclaimer: yes, I am talking about christmas in July. I am doing it on the christmas topic. If you don't wish to read christmas-related threads then hide the topic and please refrain from raining on my parade .

Thanks.

Playmobil.
:)
Dc have got one, and a Viking fort.
They work really well.
There is a king/queen set you can get.
Also horses...lots of fun :)

Agre with Baddderz. We have playmobil figures with a wooden le toy van castle - they're great both with the castle and for other play. A couple of spindly wooden figures came with the castle - Budkins or something like that - and they've hardly been touched because they don't stand up or pose or hold weaponry...

(Le Toy Van also do siege engines and trebuchets for attacking the castle ... just sayin ;) )

Definitely Playmobil, and maybe a Playmobil dragon too.

We have Playmo families living on a Plan Toy farm, and in a wooden 'Toys R Us' dolls house. They seem to be the perfect size for everything.

And you can get animals, figures, knights, there doesn't seem to be anything Playmobil don't do.

Thanks. That's a pretty universal vote for playmobil then!

I definitely need a dragon for me the dds.
