Hello.....

I've started my Christmas shopping so thought i better move back in here!

Mrswellyboot Sat 05-Apr-14 21:56:05

Ooh what have you bought. I am never organised but this year I am going to start by stocking up on Yankee candles and a few little things.

November and December are out for shopping for me so going to go for it.

However, I am cutting down and being sensible. Have you many presents to buy?

JerseySpud Sat 05-Apr-14 22:00:48

We're back talking to the other side of the family now which is lovely, but is also another sil and 5 niece and nephews!

So got my 2 DDs, 6 nieces and nephews, 3 sils, 1 mil, 2 parents of my own, DH and then my 3 best friends, my best friends kids (5 in total)

So i've started now! Lol

So far i've bought a Mega Construction set for my nephew and a bodyshop little gift thing which can go to someone lol. And a cross stitch set for my eldest daughter.

Which candles did you get? I love yankee candles!

Yay! We've got a countdown board on the wall already and something big going down early December time, so we want a perfect Xmas planned and ready very early this year smile already got 2 gifts!

Its DD1's birthday in January so shes sorted. DD2 is in June and we've already bought her main present!! (leap pad 2 disney princess set for £39.99)

I'm buying early as the two girls are going to cost me a fortune over the summer as DD1 is moving to year 3 so needs extra stuff including new PE kit, tracksuit, backpack, pencil case (oh the fucking joys!) and DD2 starts pre school. so i thought best to start now!

LegoCaltrops Sat 05-Apr-14 22:25:30

I'm adding this to my watch list. DD's birthday is in May & I'm all ready, so...

JerseySpud Sat 05-Apr-14 22:29:50

i shocked the woman in the body shop today. Got one of the little sets, with the shower gel/body lotion/puff in the sale for £3 and then used my love your body card and got it for £2.75

AND a voucher for £10 off a £25 spend in May (hello more christmas presents!)

When i told her it was for Christmas she just looked blankly at me and said ' But its not Easter yet....'

grin Respect JerseySpud.

I buy from July onwards (Christmas in July on QVC is the kick off)
DD has a June birthday, DS is December so if I buy too early, they'd probably get those for their B/Day.

I like to start my serious looking/shopping in October. The idea of December shopping is romantic, the reality is anything but hmm

And yes, I get The Face from my DH grin

JerseySpud Sat 05-Apr-14 22:45:24

My DH has given up on me i think now. I just told him about the Christmas presents i purchased today and he smiles and nods and tells me they are good bargains. Then asks where i intend to hide everything this year

A box under the bed is looking good for now until i can get in the loft with a board....

JerseySpud Sat 05-Apr-14 22:47:10

Oh and i love the romantic notion of shopping in the winter like you see on tv, looking all snug in hat/scarf/gloves with mulled wine and perusing the shops looking at and buying lovely stuff.

The reality is shops with the heating up high, cheap tat (Yes BHS....i am looking at you), too many people pushing and shoving.

And never. Any. Fucking. Snow.

Ratbagcatbag Sun 06-Apr-14 10:47:35

Hello <waves> I'm spoldged in my double bed whilst my one year old has a very long nap next to me and I started pondering about Christmas presents and such like and I find a fellow Mnetter or two already in here. smile

Ratbagcatbag Sun 06-Apr-14 10:49:58

Jersey, I love the romantic notion to, but I think it would only work if they only opened the shop for just me and dh. smile

sunbathe Sun 06-Apr-14 10:51:29

Impressive, Jersey.

I don't normally start so early but this year I've already got a list of ideas for various people.

Not bought anything yet, though!

JerseySpud Sun 06-Apr-14 12:02:43

Exactly Ratbag. And men never look as happy to be Christmas shopping as the adverts.

Infact DH Spud actually applaudds my use of the internet to Christmas shop.

Just because it saves him coming out as well

Nix01 Wed 09-Apr-14 15:09:40

I'll be keeping my eyes peeled from next week as soon as I've got the birthday out of the way smile

But I did buy lots of christmassy things from the dotcomgiftshop that I've put away already smile

NormHonal Fri 11-Apr-14 21:18:16

<checks DH isn't watching and sidles in>

We are away this Christmas and DH he knows me too well has already given me several lectures about not buying anything as we can just buy stuff when away and it will be a PITA to transport anything.

Which I'm taking as a challenge...to find stuff that is either a) light and small or b) practical (think towels and toothbrushes) and therefore goes under-the-radar.

Although the truth is that I had so much left over after the 2013 bargain thread that Christmas 2014 was kinda sorted before 2014 even began. blush

grin

I just slinked in here sheepishly thinkinh it'd just be me who thought about Christmas this early in the year. Not yet bought anything but have a few dozen things on my Amazon wishlists

passes round the eggnog

<lurks, rustling wrapping paper>

I'm hoping to sew most gifts this year. I've got my spreadsheet and pattern books out and decided who's having what! Today I'm cutting squares to make name-spelling stackable blocks for various babies. Glad I'm not the only one Elfing in spring!

IamnotaStepfordHousewife Sun 20-Apr-14 16:35:34

Im making chutney again as its a firm favourite by many family members. Considering fudge but need to find some good recipes. Already got huge story books in Jan sale for few pounds instead of £10+ under the bed and all wrapping paper and cards.

lostlalaloopsy Mon 21-Apr-14 07:13:19

Hi everyone

I've got a few bits already, very pleaded with myself! I got a Spider-Man toy in smyths reduced and also got a pile of pjs/bags for nephews and friends dcs from character.com. - it's a great site and full of bargains.

JerseySpud Mon 21-Apr-14 17:23:39

I'm still rooting around the odd shop, amazon, saving vouchers.

So far i have a £10 off a £25 spend in may for Bodyshop and a £5 off anything in Claires Accessories :D

I daren't buy Christmas goodies this far ahead , I would lose them for sure blush

I bought some John Lewis eggs (the gorgeous traditional cardboard ones with rabbits on them) the week before Easter and I cannot find them.
DH said "they might be with the Easter stuff" - very helpful hmm
At least I didn't lose my lovely paisley green tablecover specially for Easter.

JerseySpud Wed 23-Apr-14 17:13:58

I have a storage box under my bed that i start putting stuff in. Or my tardis under the stairs.

AryaHouseStark Wed 23-Apr-14 18:20:00

I have my lists ready grin
