Christmas

Will no one rid me of this Furbulent Beast? Awful toys you can't switch off

RooneyWanderingStara · 25/12/2013 18:08

Or at least the children have TOLD me they can't be switched off. Xmas Hmm

The furbies in this house are fast heading for extradition to the shed. On what grounds I cannot be concise but I am working on it.

Also on my personal shitlist this meteorologically challenged Christmas:

The V tech Toot Toot vehicles. Heard the songs? Once was enough. They are LEAVING THE BUILDING (I'm sure it was MN's fault, they were on that recommended email at least once)

Please feel free to add Satan's contribution to your own festivities. Xmas Grin

Our furbies are setting the budgies and off and, seemingly, vice versa! Throwing a blanket over their heads seems to silence them (both furbies and budgies)

itsblackoveryonderhill · 25/12/2013 18:11

The furbies do go to sleep. Then just need to be left alone for 10 mins or so and they decide that are tired and they go to sleep. DDs has been asleep since the star of toy story 3.

NinjaBunny · 25/12/2013 18:12

We had a large radio controlled Dalek once. Was triggered by sound and motion and would shout "EXTERMINATE" all the fucking time.

I turned it off.
"EXTERMINATE"

I took the batteries out.
"EXTERMINATE"

I eventually threw it away.
Could hear him shouting "EXTERMINATE" from the wheelie bin.

Xmas Hmm

I was chuffed to see the bin men that week.

Xmas Grin

So, in answer to your lovely question:
No, you're fucked. Enjoy your Furbies.

Xmas Wink

RooneyWanderingStara · 25/12/2013 18:12

Oh ours won't STFU even under a blanket. I think they're evil.

We put the two of them together and I swear I heard them plotting some kind of bank heist.

ROAR at the dalek in the bin! That's epic. Xmas Grin

I swear DDs Furby Boom just said Nice tits to me.

RooneyWanderingStara · 25/12/2013 18:19

Nice tits???!!!!

NinjaBunny - did the Dalek freak your binmen out by shouting "EXTERMINATE" at them? I am imagining some poor, ashen-faced refuse collectors, needing hot, sweet tea, and counselling! Xmas Grin

NinjaBunny · 25/12/2013 18:35

Nah.

Bin men round here are 'ard! They've encountered far worse than rogue Daleks on their morning rounds.

Xmas Wink

Bexicles · 25/12/2013 18:39

Pull it's tail for 10 seconds and put it back in it's box. Seems to have worked here.

BaaHumbug · 25/12/2013 18:43

Lie it on its back, it'll snore fora few seconds and then go quiet.

DD opened hers at lunchtime, within 10 mins we were scrabbling for the instructions to find out how to shut it up. Grin

babyicebean · 25/12/2013 18:59

We have one and it keeps changing personality, its gone from furby to teenage girl furby to cockney sounding grouchy furby. They are currently playing brass band music at it to see what happens

OvO · 25/12/2013 19:15

Haha, mine does a good "nice tits" impression too. Xmas Grin

I mean my DS1's, not mine. Blush

I wants it.

My DS has downloaded the app and is playing with it. I think he'd get bored with it quickly without it.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 25/12/2013 19:18

DD1's is much cuter than I had imagined! DD2 already had a mini Furby and by God is that one irritating, so I was expecting more of the same. Luckily not, at least not so far.

RowanMumsnet · 25/12/2013 19:18

Hello, hope you're all having a lovely day. We've moved this to the Christmas topic now at the OP's request.

SnapCrackleandPoop · 25/12/2013 19:20

MIL got our DS (2) a toot toot garage and THREE, yes THREE extra cars Shock the noise all of them make together is awful and DS knows where the on/off switch is. Wine

colditz · 25/12/2013 19:20

Lie the furby down and leave it in a quiet place. It will go to sleep.

cece · 25/12/2013 19:33

One of our furbys (yes we got 3 today) keeps shouting ebay!
Wishful thinking?

babyicebean · 25/12/2013 19:51

Ours seems to have a preference for Katy Perry's California Girls and any Brass Band Music

Luggage16 · 25/12/2013 19:57

yep def lie them on their back if you want them to sleep - they seem to settle pretty quickly like that. I had great fun turning mine (cough, i meand ds) into couch potato earlier by feeding it non stop and pulling its tail lol

they are very cute when they sing together :)

ophiotaurus · 25/12/2013 20:01

If you have a smart phone the furby app will make it go to sleep pretty fast if you throw sheep at it!

hootloop · 25/12/2013 20:05

Mine has slept a few times today, but I keep waking him up. Yes he really is mine DH bought him for me.
