Mine have about 35 each Shock 10 of those are stocking fillers of things around a pound nothing more then a fiver.

I haven't spent loads but as they're older and its things like dvds and ps3 games it really doesn't look like much compared to previous years of bikes and large similar presents.

35 is loads, I'm worried that the 15 each (excluding stocking) my 2 have is a bit much (though also debating getting a CD player to add to my dd pile as we could really do with one for the playroom).

I have 3 DDs. They will be getting 14 presents each under the tree, the cheapest being £1 and the most expensive about £27.

They will also get another 14 presents each in their stocking, mostly from the 99p Store with a few others less than £4 each.

I have on top of that bought 3 family presents.

One from us, one from Father Christmas, maybe 5 stocking fillers and some chocolate
About 8 presents from my family (grandparents, greatgrandparents, aunts etc)
2 from godparents
I'd guess 4 or 5 things from PIL.

So 15 presents in total plus some stocking fillers. Loads!

Too much. I'm considering putting some back until birthdays but they're wrapped and I can't remember what is in each one Blush

What family presents did you buy amelia?

It doesn't look like loads luggage some stuff is really small like earrings and invisible ink pens but saying it loud it sounds a lot.

I have 2 DS's (5 & 2). They each have around 2-3 larger Santa presents (2 x remote control cars, winx action figure, walkie talkies for 5 year old, wheelybug, octonaut octopod for 2 yr old) and around 5-6 small stocking presents (books, a ball, fancy felt tips, colouring books etc.) Probably spent £100 - £150 total on both of them, as got some good amazon bargains.

We're comfortably off and could conceivably afford to buy them an awful lot more ( and going by what I've seen on here, a lot of people do!) but for small kids I think it's more than enough.

Thats the thing isnt it, its so much more complicated than cost or quantity! Could you package them up in bigger boxes? I'm sure the kids will be happy regardless as older ones should have a better concept of cost! Our pile looks a lot as mine are 3 and 6 so it looks loads, once its all out of boxes it wont be so bad though!

There is no reason why you can't pack a small gift, like the earrings, into a giant box for wrapping (or even do the old "box within a box within a box" trick). Or disguise the shape of gifts with misleading packaging. Or put clues on the labels and insist they guess before they open the present.

35 presents just from parents, if that's what you mean, sounds like loads to me! ! I have 3 dc and I have got them one present each, though they will get a further 7 or 8 little stocking fillers each.

I have just chucked out all the amazon boxes Grin and having wrapped them all tonight I am not in the mood for more wrapping.

I don't want to buy them anymore, I'm not even twitching now I'm happy with all they have. Just wondered if I was in the norm with amount wise.

This year none of them have main presents. They have had all the main presents they could possibly need the last few christmas and birthdays.

I've just finished shopping this evening. We have 3 DC's, ages 6,3 and 1. They each have 1 main present from us, 1 each from each sibling and 5 or 6 bits in their stocking. I spent £250 in total on the 3 of them. Not sure how many they will get from relatives, but I guess another 5 or so each. 35 is loads!

TheNightIsDark I find to stop the twitch I think of chucking it unplayed with out in the october half term bedroom clear out. It doesn't always work Wink so I then twitch on practical presents or things like dvds and books and posters.

Hmmm, on last count at 17 each but 2 each are actually 'family board games' that we'll play together, we've just out them into the kids piles to bulk them out... and they both have 9 books, lots of which I picked up at charity shops for £1 over the last couple of months. So individual non book presents each...About 6 apiece. One main present from us, one from F.C. And a few little bits.

They also have their elf basket on Xmas eve which is new pj's each, a DVD each, some chocolate and popcorn, and a lush bath bomb each.

They'll get around 10 each from friends and relatives too. I think they're getting loads!

Family presents are

-- An Orchard toys game to play together

-- A family set of slushie maker cup things so we will have one each

-- A film night in a box - will include popcorn boxes, 3 DVDs (they were going to get these individually so I have added them to the box instead), popcorn kernals, sweets, hot chocolate and mini marshmellows.

I will do it so that Father Christmas brings the stockings, 3 presents each for the DC and 3 presents for me under the tree (am also doing myself a stocking) plus the family presents. All the rest will be from me.

I'm twitching on an ever after high doll. DD doesn't play with dolls. I think it's actually me that wants it Blush

Mine are getting 1 present each from us. The 2yo is getting an aquadoodle (£15) & the baby is getting a handmade-by-me heirloom type gift (approx. £30 & an entire year of labour). Long may the easily pleased/cheap phase last! Grin

I don't count the presents. Is that odd?

When dd was 3 she opened her stocking which contained some hair bobbles, a barbie outfit, a fairy glider, bottle of bubbles and some sweets and said 'I've got everything I wanted'

Oh the innocence!

Then we went downstairs and she saw the tree presents -I so wish I had left it at the stocking!

Both dds have 10 presents each under the tree

Dd1 has her own straighteners so she can stop stealing mine and dd2 has a DVD player -the main gifts were £30 each and they have £50 each of other stuff including their stockings

Dd1 is mainly clothes, dd2 has a couple of toys, a music stand and some clothes

Presents from my side of the family will be at grandma's house on Boxing Day

God only knows what exp's mum will send

I see people posting pics on Facebook of rooms so full of presents that you can't see the furniture but do the children really appreciate what they get when they get so much? and why do people post them on Facebook?

Elsie I have to count the presents as I need to make sure the presents are split pretty much equally across my three children.
