FIL chopped a finger off yesterday while sawing Shock ! Thankfully it's reattached alright & should be ok when healed.

Can you get safety gloves for doing DIY type stuff? He does a lot of diy & I think they'd make a good little gift.

Max budget a tenner Smile

Try the Stilh website. Not sure how much they'll cost. Or failing that your local hardware store will have safety clothing. Or try B&Q or Homebase, somewhere like that if you're in Britain obviously. Grin

Saying that just looked at the Stihl website and the chainsaw proof gloves are £38! Best try B&Q etc.

oh heck, just a touch out of budget! Will see if my dad's going to b&q any time soon and see what their prices are like.

Thanks for the link though!

We've just spoken to dp's mum. They've stitched the finger up and strapped it up somehow so he can't move it but he's in a lot of pain with it Sad . They offered to take it off properly if he can't cope with it.

I'll pinch the laptop later and have a look on Screwfix, thanks for that one too.

A sharp saw - more likely to injure yourself with a blunt one else. Chain saw glove have special wadding that gets tangled up but are awkward to use with hand tools.

Hands and fingers are pretty amazing at healing but do tend to lose feeling and ache when cold - how about a Zippo hand warmer?

Lots of Oregon chainsaw gloves on Amazon for around £12, I use these with both a chainsaw and a handsaw but they can be a bit bulky.
