What was your best childhood christmas present ever? :D

I'm torn between a wig I got one year and a set of glitter fun wombles I got another year :)

I think age 8/9 was peak excitement for me at Christmas and I think that is mainly the pressies I remember. Other pretty good hits were:

An emu puppet
a big bear with tartan legs and elastic on its feet that you could hook through your own feet so you could dance with it
A bed for a barbie type doll made out a shoe box
A weebles playground set
a small lego set (just mixed bricks etc)

I did have a bontempi organ one year - I learned to play skip to my loo on it - the only tune that avoided using the note that wouldn't work :)

A huge box of second hand barbies plus clothes. I can still remember the excitement.

My aunt adopted a horse from red wings sanctuary, I never went to see it, but for a year told everyone I had a horse.

It was AMAZING! I walked into the living room and there it stood. It was taller than me! I must have been about 5.

My Sindy House - three stories, a garage, a balcony - I was the happiest child in the world! Played with it for years, loaned it to my cousin and never saw it again

Hmm, there are definitely gifts I remember receiving but can't be sure if they were Christmas or birthday presents
One I definitely do remember, though, was a doll's house built by my grandad, I had been ill with 'flu and Christmas morning was the first time I'd been out of bed in a week!

I never got areal pony so I was always alittledisappointed.

I was about six and I'd asked for a toy dog that did somersaults as my main present. I got it as a stocking present which in my mind was UNBELIEVABLE.

I must have got a main under the tree Christmas present but have no memory of what that was. .

Id forgotten about the lift but yes! My garage was a one storey extension so not part of actual original house. Oh I loved that house! There is a photo of me on Christmas morning with me in dressing gown gawping at what Santa had brought me - true joy!

1971, I was 5 and it was a swing. I still remember pulling back the curtains and seeing it all set up, ready to go. It snowed that Christmas Day and I couldn't go out on it.

That didn't matter, I got to spend many many hours on that swing My father wasn't happy that I was scuffing the lawn up underneath, so he put a concrete paving slab just where the scuff happened ... Imagine if someone did that nowadays.

I wish I could swing now, but it makes me feel sick.

I think it has to be my Tammy 'teenage doll'. I was 9. It's sad that nowadays most girls have outgrown dolls by that age. I played with dolls quite happily till I was about 14 (and actually still love them)!

My family tree house I got when I was about 8. I loved it and my dd has played with it. They're going for a fortune on ebay...

I got a toy kitchen when I was about 4/5. I loved it so much, I remember refusing to go to sleep on Christmas night until my mum pushed the kitchen right up against my bed so that I could sleep with it .

Another year, when I was 8/9 I got twin dolls that cried and 'drank' milk. I loved them, but the memory is bittersweet because that was the year I found out once and for all that there was no Santa after hearing my mum complain about how much she'd spent on the dolls in Toys R Us .

My best birthday present ever was, without a doubt, my Sega Master System with a built-in Sonic the Hedgehog game that I got for my 7th birthday.

it was a golden cherub that I hung on my bedroom wall. My youngest brother gave it me but I can't remember which christmas.

I loved it passionately and I don't know why - I'm not religious - I just loved it. It broke in a house move in my mid-20s and I was devasted.

Cough cough mumble xxxx decades later I still miss it. I don't know what possessed him to buy it and of course he remembers nothing about it.

I would love it if someone bought me another one.

I had one Christmas where I got a watch, a camera, a cassette player and a Girls World with moving eyes. I couldn't believe anyone could be as lucky as me.

My little pony horse stable- this was a reall coo, as was expensive! I was so so so surprised!

it's amazing the things that we all remember - we were not well off, I always wished for things like a bike or similar, but was always happy with what I got and clearly remember these things years later. I wonder if our kids will be the same?

I still remember the struggle to get to sleep, the excitement of waking a moving my foot to the bottom of the bed and feeling the weight of the stocking lying there and squeezing it all before opeing to try to guess what was stuffed inside :)

Interestingly, I have all these happy memories, but don't think i ever believed in Santa so it's not the end of the world and the magic if you child doesn't believe.
