Any other boys like doc mcstuffins?

Ds is 4 and a half and adores doc mcstuffins and her annoying friends. He's asked for a few things for christmas but is dead set on a doc mcstuffins doctor's kit he saw in the supermarket so he can " be the real doc mcstuffins." He plays at being doc anyway with his regular dr kit but his eyes lit up when he saw the doc one. His other one is falling apart as it's had so much use so I was contemplating getting him a new set anyway.

Dh is dead against it. He thinks it will make ds gay Hmm Way to go with being open minded and not ignorant dh. I have said that a) if ds is gay does it matter and b) if he's gay he will be gay regardless of whether or not he had a doc mcstuffins doctor kit.

Shall I just get it for ds? Surely he can't be the only boy who likes it? He also likes fighting and playing soldiers so it's quite nice to encourage his more caring side tbh!

My DS does but he is only 20 months......I did want to buy him the Lamb from it but like your DH mine was mortified I would even consider buying a lamb with pink clothes on!

Your DH is being a knob. Just get your DS the kit! :)

Ds also wants lambie boo boo! He's not interested in having a doc doll. He wants to BE doc instead!

Buy him the lamb yoni

I might get ds the dr's set and allow him to take it to the inlaws on Christmas Day because it will cause them all to have some sort of fit. This is where dh got his open minded views from.

I'd get it for him, but wouldn't make a big thing out of giving it to him in front of in-laws. If they make a big thing out of it, it could make ds feel bad for liking it iyswim.

Big eyeroll for your DH.

Ds likes:
Doc mcstuffins
My little pony
Ben and holly (holly is his favourite)
Baby looney tunes

Also likes:
Jurassic park
Fireman Sam
Power rangers
Transformer bots or whatever it's called.

I think it's a good balance. Doc and baby looney tunes are his favourites though. He doesn't watch the others very often!

My DS is almost 4 and he loves the Doc too. He wants me to buy him the Doc's kit and Stuffy too because he's funny?!

Giyadas no I won't really but I'd like to! They have some, um, interesting views.

Mind you my own mother was on at ds the other week over the colour of something, ds wanted red but my mum was all "no boys always have blue."

It's so annoying!

My DS (2.5yo) spends a lot of his time pushing around a pink minnie mouse vacuum cleaner :)

Isn't it true many years ago that pink used to be for boys and it was blue for girls?

It is milk

I do wish the doc mcstuffins stuff wasn't pink and glittery as well though I must admit. The glitter is a bit overkill. Plus it will probably fall off everywhere because I suspect the merchandise will be a bit naff as merchandise connected to tv shows usually is.

I don't know... Stuffy is £8 for a small soft toy so tightwad mummy won't be buying that! But the set is a possibility.

Mittensonkittens · 06/11/2013 15:50

The set is currently £13 on amazon...I'm twitching!

Really? You're DH honestly said that a toy will make your son gay?

And you are actually giving that a millisecond's thought?

Dear Christ.

Report
Mittensonkittens · 06/11/2013 15:58

Oh no I don't for one second think a toy can make someone gay or not gay.
It's more do I want the aggravation of dh stropping about it.

Giyadas · 06/11/2013 16:03

I'd take the strop rather than give in to such thinking.
btw, can take or leave pink but glitter is fabulous! dd has grown out of all that kind of stuff, I miss having a glittery house Sad

I am not a fan of glitter in any form! It gets everywhere!

RandallFloyd · 06/11/2013 16:06

That doesn't sound any better tbh.

Why on earth would he 'strop about it'? And more importantly why would you care if he did?

Report
Mittensonkittens · 06/11/2013 16:14

Because he has (wrong) views on what are girls' and boys' toys. Ds has some toys that dh doesn't like already.
It's just whether or not I want the hassle of it at christmas! I know that's a cop out by the way. I rather suspect ds will end up with the toy and dh will have this face Confused for a little while.

mittens that's quite reasonable, at that price he might just get his Doc kit after all.

My ds (4 next week) loves Doc McStuffins too and wants stuff for his birthday & Christmas. I will be buying some stuff for him and dd (twin). They don't care what is pink or blue. They share all toys. Gay stuff is so old fashioned and just plain wrong, I feel sorry for people who still feel this way
