Stunt scooters

DS is nearly 10 and would like a stunt scooter. I am trying to understand different makes and which will stand up to being ridden in a 10 year old boy way smile

I've seen there are ones around £70 which is probably about the amount I'd like to pay - I'm not really able to go up to the £130 I have seen some cost.

Any guidance would be welcome smile

Ooh we saw these the other day too in Smyths, and I wondered which ones are good.

Can I sit here with you till someone answers?

Oh yes... I've got a 12 year old ds who's been there done that with scooters and a nearly 10 year old who wants one for Christmas and this is what I have learned...

You want slamm or grit - no others will do hmm. Ds1 has done a lot of googling and ds2 will be getting a slamm mischief scooter - about £100. Sigh. He'll use it every day to get to school though so at least it'll be useful. A relative will probably get him some pegs for it (I have no clue about this...).

Hope that helps grin

Thank you smile my research means I have heard of slamm and grit grin. Given that we live about 2 min from school its use as transport will probably be limited (although he does quite often take his worn out scooter along with him).

It's a whole new world this scooter thing - am sure they didn't exist when I was his age...

MGP is also popular round here.

DS (8) is getting a stunted stunt scooter which is about £40 on amazon based on his friend having one and it lasting well. He doesn't go to a scooter park yet or ride to school on it much so I'm hoping for a few years out of it.

slam, grit or mgp seem to be the favourites around here. ds(9) got an mgp last year for xmas, was around £130ish, was a lot of money for us but our thinking was it will last him years.

2 or 3 of his friends have mgp scooters and the ones that have a slam or grit always say they wish they had a mgp (but that might just be his group of friends preferences).

you can tell looking at the slam/grit and mgp close up the mgp is just as strong as the other two but feels much lighter.

if your ds hasn't heard about the different brands and has no preference himself I would be tempted to get a cheap one this year, ds had a cheap scooter already and was adamant he wanted a MGP for xmas last year, even knew the specific model he wanted. it was worth spending the money as he knew what he was getting.

and order stunt pegs separately,

great company to deal with.

I bought one for my ds last year and found it a bit of a minefield.

Costco had 2 the other day and they looked good. Around £50 ish.
