I don't have the imaginext fire station but we do have lots of other imaginext and its really good, ds4 is getting the castle for Xmas.

We have the boat, submarine, batman stuff, a helicopter etc. Its well played with and withstands my five, its very sturdy.

All the playmobil we have and always comes apart and there are lots of little fiddly bits, grr.

There are some nice wooden fire stations about as well.

Playmobil and reduced to £35.99 at John Lewis at the moment. My dd and ds love it.

My DS2 hasn't got the Imaginext fire station but has other Imaginext sets and loves them. We've had our monies worth out of them ( though I think the branded stuff like Batman is naff overpriced).

DS1 had Playmobile stuff and it's hardly been used.

I think Playmobil will hold interest longer. DS has Imaginext stuff from when he was 3-5 but he doesn't play with it at all now, but he still plays with Playmobil he had at the same time and has asked for more sets since (he's 6).

I think it depends on the age of the child.

We have the playmobil fire station and its fantastic, a bit delicate for small hands though. i would think its suited for the over 5's or even 6 if they are heavy handed. Brilliant set tho, so many little details.

we don't have the imaginext fire station but we have the bat cave and other sets. They are brilliant too, but at 6 my son has grown out of it. My 2 year old is getting fantastic play from them now tho.

see my 5 and almost 9 yr old both play with the imaginext as do their friends. my dd is almost three and also plays with it, wheres they have never been that into playmobile.

how old is the child?

My 7 year old plays with the imaginext Fire station daily, it doesn't always stay a fire station, some days it's a spy headquarters or anything else he has thought up. Brilliant play value, my 2 year old has started to play with it too. It's very sturdy.
