Ok - I think I've got dh on board that this is the year!!! We want to go to Lapland from either Bournemouth or Southampton. Has anyone got any recommendations for companies to book with, those to avoid and any hints and tips. I thought about a 3 day trip, but dh work simply won't allow for this so a day trip it is.

All help and advice v gratefully received Grin

Please don't go for a day trip. We went for 3 nights last year for only £300 more for family of four. Those on the day trips didnt arrive at resort til 2pm after a 7am flight! They looked total exhausted and didnt get home til 11pm (after arriving at airport for 5am). Go for a min of 3 nights or wait til next year. If you go on the lapland forum on trip advisor you will see almost every day trip gets bad reviews for that reason. Thomsons were offering 3 nights family of four inc activities for £1800 last week!

We did a day trip last December with Thomson and had a brilliant day. DS's were 5 and 8. The day trip suited us due to the boys being at school. We went on a Saturday. Yes, it was a long day and an early start but we all coped with it fine and it was a lovely and memorable day. Flight was 7am, 3 hours long. There was lots of Christmas activies, songs and updates from Santa on the plane and the journey was very much part of the experience. We had about six hours at santapark and that was enough time to do and see everything inc all the outdoor activities, elf school, ice gallery, visit Father Christmas etc. We didn't land till about 9pm. The kids really loved it and DH and I did too!

Went with Canterbury travel a few years ago. Had a fab time and was there for about 6 or 7 hours. From memory!

Went from Gatwick and flew into a local airport with not much of a transfer, to get to the village from the airport we went by snowmobile, on the way back it was by coach so wasn't far at all

Puffinlover which company and airport did you travel with/from? My local airport does a day trip but think it with transun and from what I can gather transun don't have very good reviews.thanks.

Rosvita we went with Thomson and flew from Birmingham. I think they do they day trips on all the Saturdays in December and fly from quite a lot of different airports. They have a specific Lapland brochure. We booked a year ahead. Hope that helps!

Rosvita I found local day trips via Thomson and Bath Travel flying from Bournemouth. We're now going to postpone until next year as husband is chocka at work so going for the 4 night option then. But I'm gutted as he had pretty much said this would be the year :-(
