He has no ideas himself. Doesn't seem to need/want anything.

We have a Wii which he hardly plays with, doesn't play with his DS. Loves playmobil but has loads and would think he'll soon grow out of. Loves Lego but same as playmobil.

Loves his iPod touch.

Loves books but have got him some.

He got a bike last year. Has a scooter.

Can only think of DVD, pyjamas maybe a microscope?

Spending around £150 to match up with DD.

Grateful for any ideas!

RR xx

What about some more grown up lego? like some of the Technic stiff or Lord of the Rings/Hobbit?

Does he need a phone for High School?

Is he sporty? what about a basketball net or table football

A TV for his bedroom

Does he have any particular interests? You could get him a magazine subscription that fits his interests

Thank you. Yes he has Lord of the Rings Lego. Technic Lego sounds good, will have a look. Not keen on him having a tv in his room.

He loves football. Phone a good idea was thinking of that one.

Off to have another search.....

We have the same problem with Ds1, also 11. He genuinely isn't very materialistic and says has everything he wants!

He had his iPod touch a few years ago and I've suggested a tablet several times but he's not sure, he's quite happy with his ipod. I think we probably will go with a tablet because he spends a lot of time watching Minecraft videos on you tube and I think he'll enjoy a bigger screen.

We have also considered a telescope but I'm not sure. We live in a town so a lot of light pollution.

Football:

New football (you can never have too manyWink)
Goalie Gloves (even if he's not a goalie)
New shin pads/ankle guards
ankle/sock tape
Footy socks
Footy annual of favourite team/book of othe footy facts, etc

Can you tell my DS is footy mad!

Thanks all. He doesn't have a lot really but doesn't want a lot.

Thanks for your suggestions, he has a keyboard but soon got bored with it, he loves chess and has a chess set. Not very adventurous, he has a telescope but we have never managed to get it working!

He doesn't have a tablet or Kindle so could be an idea....

Pogo stick sounds fun! Will have a look!

Tickets to something.... Good idea, but where to and would have to take younger daughter. Would rather get tickets as a family thing not just for his present?

We don't have an xbox, are they that much different from the Wii?

Do I sound awkward!

Yes, xbox is totally different from the Wii, but if he isn't asking for one, I would leave it till he wants one (or PlayStation or whatever) - DS doesn't play his much, apart from FIFA (and then really only if friends round)

YYY to Lego Technic, it is fabulous and definitely much more suited for older children (and adults Grin ). If you have even more £££s you could look at the Lego Mindstorms Robot (I would like one of those for Xmas!) (DH was trying to figure out if we dd would be able to programme a mindstorms robot using Scratch . . .)

For example might he like something like this (though you need to get the motor kit too really to go with it

My son got the Badass Lego guns book and ordered all the individual pieces for the guns from Bricklink - maybe an idea if he likes to make his own things?

Agree with the bow and arrow + target so long as you have a suitable space for using them. Massive hit with all the 11 y/os I know, girl or boy, esp as the Hunger Games is super cool with that age group

Thanks again! Could you guide me in the right direction for the bow and arrow.

Also after having a chat with him he'd really like an xbox so need some advice! Which one! Wouldn't want to spend more than £170 on one. Is the 360 the one to get? Which games etc......

Thanks

The new x box one is waaaayyyyy over budget, but a decent x-box 360 is the way to go - loads of great packages about that geberally include a game, and if he doesn't believe in santa, you can pick up some used games pretty cheaply - try Blockbusters on-line, they were doing buy one get one free and all sorts a week or two ago.

I've found Shop2.net to be pretty good on price for consoles, but keep an eye on Tesco and Asda or just on Hotukdeals for bargains.

I think there are a lot of deals on 4gb consoles but you would be better with one of the bigger memory units if he gets into it. I got my son this package:

www.shopto.net/video%20games/xbox360/XB2BU264-xbox-360-250gb-console-fifa-14-minecraft

but he doesn't like football, so I traded the game for £32 cash bringing it down to £158 but I have seen other deals about too.

As for a bow and arrow - my sons have had these crossbows and they are great and the same company do bow and arrows so I am sure they would be good too.

I buy all our dc's wii and DS games from the local fb selling page.

Not paid more than £7 (and as little as £3) for a game yet.
There is always Xbox games/cool controllers on there, so you don't feel sick at the thought of £30 wasted if they don't like the game.

My DS will be 14 in December.
How handy having to think of two lots of presents in the space of 18 days. (Bad planning that)

He'll get an X-Box game
A Young Drivers Lesson (aged 11yo+ and 5' tall)

Any money. Last year a £50 . He loved it, kept it in his jar until April /May when I put it in his bank.
