I normally buy mulled in a bottle and add some sliced orange whilst warming in the pan... easy... you can buy mulled winr spices but I never bother with that. M&S have a nice one.

As for breakfast we have bacon sandwich... anything more and im too full to do anything!

I'm marking place as we always have bacon butties as kids love them but I'm after something a little more special but also kid friendly (they wouldn't thank me for salmon for breakfast for example!).

jam we usually just have something like toast but think it'd be nice to have something a bit special on Christmas morning. Mine wouldn't thank me for salmon either though Hmm

Mulled wine in a bottle sounds like my kind of thing, do lidl do it? M&S is a tad out of my price range! Confused (I hope the bottle comes with instructions!)

Lidl do it but similar price to m and s but you get more. Currently £4.99 a bottle. Keep checking there will be an offer!

Not sure it is a breakfast drink though-a but heavy. More a late afternoon with mince pie drink.

What about eggs benedict? You could always leave the hollandaise sauce off the kids' portions (which means more for the grown-ups) although ime most kids will eat it. Bottled mulled wine just needs to be heated on the stove. But the kits are easy to use - just bung them in a saucepan with the wine. Mmmm, mulled wine ...

I agree about not having mulled wine for breakfast - bucks fizz much better! (I'm not really a lush, honest!)

smoked salmon and scrambled eggs with bucks fizz for breakfast

or pancakes?

We often do croissants and pain au chocolat, Waitrose do frozen uncooked ones. I think Lidl do as well.

Christmas breakfast? Just eat the chocolate out of the stockings, supplemented with some luxury fresh fruit to leave room for the dinner later! to drink I start with strong coffee, then move on to Cava or Prosecco.

I buy ready made mulled wine but on New years eve I do make proper mulled wine, I just use a bottle or 3 of red, and follow Jamie Olivers recipe, although I don't like too much citrus fruit in it. For breakfast I usually have roses with a turkey wing Smile

Smoked salmon and cream cheese on toasted bagels here. Perhaps with a glass of Bucks Fizz.

Mulled wine is easy to make yourself. Google Delia's recipe

We make pancakes for breakfast & have them with mixed berries and ice cream.

We have mulled cider on Xmas eve while wrapping the rest of DS's presents. The first couple of presents look lovely - after a couple of glasses of mulled cider, maybe not so pretty Grin.

surely everyone just does bacon sarnies with a side of a whole chocolate orange/the contents of the first selection box opened followed by all the purple ones out of the quality street tin... Do some people do sophisticated and civilized Christmas breakfasts?

For mulled wine, don't pay a mark up to buy it, just make some: simple BBC recipe

(if you buy it it'll be made with nasty wine)

I was just about to suggest pancakes!

Banana and choc spread, strawberries and cream, lemon and sugar, syrup.

Feels like a real treat but minimal effort Smile

Nooooo, I wasn't planning the wine with brekky....I'd end up too pickled to do dinner Grin

I will keep an eye out for offers on the bottles over the next few weeks.

Croissants may go down well I think with the girls. Eggs benedict sounds interesting though, shall google that in the morning.

any other suggestions? (apart from no mulled wine for brekky Grin )

We don't have alcohol til Christmas lunch. And I don't like to eat too muh at breakfast as we usually have lunch about 12 or 1pm.

Usually DH makes bacon butties for himself and the kids and I have toast. Or we get some croissants/pain au chocolate. Morrisons (I think) have the bags of frozen ones and I fancy getting some of those in to bung in the oven and have freshly baked.

Eggs benedict is just a muffin toasted and one side topped with poached egg, the other with ham, then hollandaise sauce poured over the lot. Or you can do it with bacon instead of ham. It's basically a posh breakfast butty!

Wallison I think I can manage that...would go down nicely as a Sunday breakfast too so will experiment with that.

2kids, we tend to eat around 3pm so it'd be brekky then some choc or snacks until then on Christmas day Smile

For breakfast try Nigellas Christmas morning muffins. They go down a treat with my family. I do all the measuring Xmas eve so most of the work is done.

American (?) pancakes (the small fluffy ones rather than the big flat ones :o) with berries and maple syrup. Homemade and DSs absolute favourite knew it was a mistake to involve him in preparations!
Also bacon rolls and Bucks Fizz.
Table laid the night before but in reality people will be milling about getting showered, dog walking and generally chilling and I am not precious enough to insist they sit at the table :o
Needs to be quite quick as we need to be at church for 11 but I am hoping to delay the bulk of the presents until after the pub church :)

I usually do bagels with bacon, mini cheese omelettes and ketchup Grin

Last year coop had sachets of the stuff to go in wine to make mulled wine. I bought one but no idea where it went. I like the idea of mulled cider but never tried it.

We don't have lunch between 2 and 3 either. Last year we did toast or cereal for breakfast instead of the croissants (the DCs are creatures of habit and said they didn't want croissants) then had some little nibbles (canape type things) at abut 12 to tide us over. No evening meal, just a few crackers and cheese and a mince pie mid evening.
