If You Had To Do A Stocking For An Adult, What Would You Include?

TigOldBitties · 07/10/2013 12:46

I have somehow been roped into this by my sisters. Each Adult is getting a stocking, as an additional gift.

So each adult will be responsible for another adults stocking. A bit like secret santa. I don't know who I'm going to get yet, but I was hoping to get ideas now so that I don't have to spend ages when I finally find out who it is.

For each stocking I do I try to find things under different headings which makes it easier
for example;
something to eat = chocolates and dont forget an orange for the toe
something to drink = small bottle of fizz
something to wear =socks or scarf
something to play with= yo yo or similar toy from childhood
something useful = toothbrush or makeup brushes etc
something to read=small version of classical book

everything wrapped separately makes for a longer lasting opening time .Wink

Depending on who it is, a leg :o

Otherwise, for a guy maybe wee gadget type things - penknife, keyring light, booze/chocolate/nuts, magazine, smelly stuff, cufflinks

a woman: pamper stuff, smellies, magazine, booze, chocolates, charms for bracelet, mobile phone charm

Lipstick?

Nail polish?

A good tweezers, or eye lash curler?

A tiny bottle of scent?

A tiny book of calm?

A voucher for baby sitting?

A book token?

Like the suggestions of a tiny bottle of booze - to go in the hot chocolate!

Oh yes, an orange for the toe is very important!

Well I'd like- a bottle of booze, fizzy wine preferably, but nice white or posh cider is fine.
Some new Christmas socks (I have two odd ones, very annoying as both are nice, but don't work together).
Chocolate
Nice shower gel/bubble bath/posh shampoo.
Cashew/pistachio nuts
A pretty vest top (Primark is fine, they do all sorts of colours)
Posh jam, chutney
Some more of the gorgeous M&S olives a DF gave me in a gift set with oil and vinegar.
Cheap CD,
DVD,
A new key ring torch (or a token from DH promising to instal the new porch light).
A novelty USB stick (DDs have 1/2 inched mine again, I want want that I'll spot on their desks)
A lottery scratch card
Nice tea, coffee, DDs always have Whitards/green and blacks hot chocolate in theirs (DD2 likes white hot choc and nice ones are £££)
I like cheap make up, carefully chosen costume jewellery and nail vanish.
DSIS is liable to be allergic to strongly perfumed stuff and anything that isn't silver (so you need to know your recipient).
If it's a big stocking drop this lot down a rolled copy of scientific American, national geographic or a posh interior design magazine. Or a cake mag with a doable new years cake.

DH
Socks, posh boxer shorts, beer, chocolate, whiskey miniatures, anything chilli flavoured, sauce, chutney, peanuts, Bombay mix.
He never uses shower gel of his own, just shampoo or the DDs (they tend to fruit ones, that are pretty inoffensive).
Interesting marmalade and preserves, peach, greengage, apricot and brandy (that sort of thing).
A really geeky/nerdy magazine or book preferably with maths equations.

Long tubes of smarties, fruit pastels etc are obviously made for stockings, choc money.

I got some brilliant nets of choc little oranges last year. The DDs did a beautiful double take as they looked so realistic.

Nice biscuits
Tolerones are a good stocking shape.

Umbrellas are good, handbag sized folding shoppers.
Paper chase note books and flower/owl etc pens.

Lots of great suggestions here. The stocking is a decent size as far as I know.

So far I'm thinking of:
Bag of Chocolate coins
Shower Gel/Bubble Bath
Snuggly Christmas Socks
Chocolate Orange/Actual Orange (depends on persons tastes, some oddballs in my family don't like chocolate orange)
Bottle of Drink (Mini Champagne or Spirits for drinkers or a bottle of posh cordial for non-drinkers)
Fancy Food Item
A Book
A DVD
Personal Gift (relevant to their interests)

Then extra bits dependent on if its a man or a woman

Woman (Easy as all the women in my family are beauty junkies):
L'occitane Hand Cream
Kirby Grips & Hair Bands
Perfume Rollerball
Eyelash Curlers or Make Up Brushes
Essie Nail Varnish

Man:
Kiehls Stuff
Touch Screen Gloves
Phone Cover

Its the men I'm struggling with!

And I think a mix CD is a lovely idea. I will employ a DS try to do this.

One of the magazines (I think Elle) has the small size loccitane hand creams as a free gift this month, so £8 worth for the cost of the magazine which I think is £3.90.

Tkmaxx had sets of Essie, OPI and Deborah Lipmann nail polishes in festive colours too.

If you're doing stockings for a few people, you could include a clockwork toy and race them. We did this once and it was surprisingly successful.

My sister gets a stocking from me every year. Nowadays, the stocking is a luxury sock of some sort. Inside are lots if beauty miniatures, a small amount if chocolate as she doesn't really eat sweets, some vitamins and resolve, a pen and notebook and maybe a small book, scarf or piece of jewelry.
