There are some kids minecraft tshirts on the argos site, thought they were reasonable at £6.49:

NeverQuiteSure, DS had one of those last year and its fab. Was surprised how nice it was. He also had a bag and pencil case.

Most seem to love Minecraft, have been buying tshirts etc for birthday parties and have pre ordered a minecraft calander for this year as well as a book.

A mug or a creeper HappyMummy? And where did you get the pencil case from as DS would love one of those.

Also, does anyone know what is in the Minecraft Annual and can anyone recommend a good reference book with all the various crafting combinations?

HappyMummyOfOne · 12/09/2013 16:20

The creeper soft toy as DS doesnt drink anything that needs a mug. Pencil case and messenger bag came from Ebay and were fab.

Not seen the annual yet but there was a book in the school bookclub about Minecraft that looked like a referenc one and it should be delivered in about 10 days so can see whats inside as it never mentioned being exclusive to them.

Ds is going on about Minecraft daily at the moment but he is only 5 - have you tubed it and think he may get bored with it (he's not particularly interested in lego for example). Is it worth getting?

Excellent HappyMummy, I'm really pleased I ordered one now. I will seek out an eBay pencil case too I think.

Rosvita - my DS is only 4 (5 next month) but has always been very heavily into construction toys (Duplo, Lego, blocks, BRIO railway, k'nex etc) The k'nex box comes out daily. He first saw his older brother play it on his iPad, then I downloaded the free iPhone app for him, then found the free online trial on the Minecraft website. I made him save the £18 for the pc game himself over the summer by doing odd jobs and selling some if his old toys. I was sure he'd get bored of it, but he played the demo daily and watched YouTube videos by a video blogger under the name of stampylongnose. He's had the full game for about 3 weeks now and I can tell that this is a passion that's here to stay.

Actually, if I'm honest, I'm a huge fan of the game myself, and I am NOT someone who does computer games usually. I do also love Lego and construction toys though, so perhaps it's linked?

He your DS played the online demo?

Thanks NeverQuiteSure -didn't realise there was a free iphone app-have just downloaded to my phone and will let him have a go tomorrow (provided his behaviour is good enough!) to see what he thinks before making a decision re whether to get for Xmas (will have to add to his list for relatives anyway as I've already got all his gifts from us/Santa!)

I shall be using this Boots £1 photo mug offer for DS's mug. Not sure if you can use the offer more than once Ruby, but I'm sure you have friends and family whose names you could register under

I love the beanie hat on your link building. DS, although young, has a HUMONGOUS head, so it may well fit.

Oooooo... just catching up on the Christmas bargains forum and someone linked to this £5 magic photo mug offer. Not sure what the delivery charge is, but it looks like good fun. I don't think my DS has his milk/hot choc warm enough for it to work, but would work for older children who have their drinks hot.
