My friend is brilliant at knitting.

She knits loads if things including toys-which I think is amazing as I can't thread a needle Grin

Would like to get her a knitting related gift. But what?

I literally have no idea.
Please help!!

Huge amounts of gorgeous, luxury wool! This is a great shop/website for wool: Baa Ram Ewe

Voucher for her local yarn shop.

I would like this amigurumi knitting book.

I would try to get it from a yarn shop though so that if she already has something similar she can exchange it for something else she needs.

time to knit, so a homemade voucher for childcare.

YY to a nice knitting bag.
Or a skein of luxury hand dyed yarn (eg from yarnyard, the natural dye studio, skein queen, easy knits...) Buy something fingering (yes, I know Xmas Blush) or sock weight and you can't go far wrong. Soft sock yarn makes lovely scarves and cowls.
Online shops such as Addicted to Knitting, Yarn Cafe, Get Knitted and Loop all stock some lovely knitterly gifts. (avoid angel yarns or hipknits like the plague, though)

I have that book, alarkaspree. It's fab, isn't it? My only disappointment is that the projects all use Cascade 220, which is expensive to buy for such tiny amounts. I'd use DK on smaller needles, but never have appropriate amounts of appropriately coloured DK lying around.

Don't know how much you want to spend but maybe a subscription to Let's Knit magazine or similar? Or a book with knitting patterns etc.

I am loving these ideasGrinGrin

Thanks so much. I'll have to go through all the suggestions one at a time as its completely alien to me.

I was thinking of spending up to £30. But if there was something really nice I don't mind paying a bit more.

Hand cream!
John Lewis voucher (best high street haberdashery shop)
I once had a shawl pin brooch from a friend from Purlescence which is just beautiful on handknitted shrugs and scarfs.

a book of nice patterns. Lots are hideous and though there is lots of stuff on the internet for free, a high quality pattern book to flick through is lovely to sit down with at Xmas and plan the next year's knitting!

Knitting project bags like these are lovely.

Def a voucher rather than selecting wool yourself. Colour and yarn choice are a really personal thing.
Why not team that up with a packet of stitch markers so she has something to unwrap- check out Etsy or Ebay

Does she have small children or roaming pets? If so then she will need project bags that can be easily closed and put out of reach. Also if she usually knits out if the house then a more compact bag is probably good.

Wool that is REAL WOOL or other animal fibre. Not " I found this cheap in the charity shop.. it squeaks" acrylic yarn (are you listening mother??)

Theas - I'll confess to being frugal with knitting bags. I have 2 that i use - one had a shower curtain in it (in the same fabric) and is just a nice size for a single ball project and one had a duvet cover in it and is also made from the same fabric as the duvet cover, so whilst not waterproof like the shower curtain one, it's fab for keeping everything together in my backpack. The other oen that i use for socks is a small cosmetics bag that came with some bodyshop goodies in, years ago!

I love knitting and I would really love some beautiful rosewood knitting needles. I think they are made by a company called Lantern Moon and you can get them from the Purlescence website. They are beautiful!

I agree about the rosewood needles, I treated myself to one pair and they are beautiful and sheer luxury! My eldest dd is learning to knit and I have treated her to a pair too Smile

Maybe size 4 mm as that's good for DK yarn, or 5 mm?
