We've got Cluedo, Scrabble, Monopoly, Battleships etc but am looking for another game for a Christmas present to play with DS, 11 and DD, 9. What would you recommend please?

I would recommend Settlers of Catan, Carcassonne, Qwirkle Cubes.

But I would also heartily suggest you read this fabulous thread - loads more ideas on there! :)

Oh yes, Risk! Scrabble, Uno, Set, Quiddlar (sp?), any card game if fun really (Too Many Monkeys - we love this one!)

We played Seven Wonders all over the summer holidays with DS1 (11)and DS2 (9). Great fun, little complicated at first but addictive when you get the hang of it.

Destination is a favourite here - we have the Hogwarts version, but you can get London/Paris and other film tie in ones too...

Too many monkeys is fun and yet simple.
Carcassonne is great for all ages and kind of addictive.
But our favourites are: Lego Creationary, Cadoo, Wobbally, Articulate for Kids and Uno Extreme.

This Christmas we are buying them Space Fluxx, Cheese Touch, Uno Roboto and a Labyrinth-type game called Enchanted Forest. DH is getting Set and Befuzzled.

CRANIUM!!!!

They have a junior version.

Never laughed so much in my life than when watching my mum trying to mime 'nappy rash'. Still brings a tear to the eye...

Jenga - I know it's not a board game but its the only one that you can get my whole family to play without pointing guns at their heads. Which I think you'll agree is not excactly the way forward at Christmastime Xmas Grin

Pit. Great for all ages, fast and noisy or you can play the silent version.

We love luck of the draw, its a drawing game that you don't need any talent whatsoever to win. My dns love it and its a good laugh.

Carcasonne is great.
Ticket to Ride - my eldest (8) enjoys this - quite straightforwad to learn
Flash Point - its a co-operative game - everyone plays together to try and beat the game, says 10plus on the box but it is not difficult and my 7 yea olds play it with a bit of help. Basically you are trying to rescue people from a burning house before it burns down. I like it because it saves the trauma over someone loosing as either everyone wins or looses!
